Thousands of years ago, a small planet collided with Earth and destroyed the world. In five days, ninety percent of humans had been wiped out, leaving behind the last ten percent to earnestly struggle on death’s door.

Jinyu was one of those people who survived. Due to a special heredity trait, he could understand beast language. After the apocalyptic disasters, Jinyu had been living for a month with the few small beast brothers that he’d subdued. Previously, Jinyu had thought that he would live like that until he died. Yet, inexplicably, one day he opened his eyes to find that he was in a monstrous, lawless world that was full of vitality and life.

Jinyu’s transmigration into the future let him skip over almost one hundred thousand years. In the year 106825, beasts rule the galaxies and ‘pure’ humans are extinct. As the one and only ‘pure’ human left in the entire universe, Jinyu braves this new chaotic world to find a place for himself and thus begins to work at Beast Store number 138.

After noticing how deceptive the tags and other reviews are, I feel the need to warn future readers.

The ML is not only very possessive, he's outright domineering, and while the author tries to paint him as considerate, respecting the MC's wishes, it gets downhill fast and crashes at around chapter 75 with their first intimate moment.

Giving someone, who clearly showed you that they don't want to have s*x with you, aphrodisiacs so strong that they are barely coherent, and then continuing to take them after they fainted, is r*pe.
There... more>> is no way to sugarcoat it, the author's attempt to do so by making the MC comply with it "willingly" (under the influence of drugs) is horrendous.
I can't see, in any shape or form, how this could be considered as consensual, why it doesn't have the "rape" tag is beyond me.

(It now has the "rape" tag, nearly a year later - applause!)

If you want to read this, be aware that there is s*xual abuse and unhealthy dynamics in general, I for one am unable to understand how anyone could see this as romantic or fluffy. <<less

I'm enjoying it a lot, however, I'm also having a headache. I realized my english is lacking a lot, because reading the translated chapters feels like reading MTL.

The story is cute, especially with all the beasts selling meng. But the flow (or maybe the translation?) of the story is making me confused. It's not smooth, tbh.

Also, the way ML and MC got together is a little meh.. Like, what? Why?? But later on I'm loving their interactions as time goes by.

The story is sweet. However, the lack of logic and coherence can be a bit frustrating.

The MC transmigrates from a apocalyptic Earth to another planet in the far future. This planet is home to the humans who fled their home planet long ago and have now become genetically modified to survive in the new world. Humans and beasts co-exist but not peacefully. The reason being humanity's sense of superiority. The beasts have human intelligence but they are still considered as animals. The beasts are being treated badly and being experimented... more>> upon.

It is in this world that the MC transmigrates with his own body. He can talk to animals which is a family trait. MC starts taking care of injured and abandoned animals and starts an animal shelter. A few days later, the ML suddenly pops in and says that MC is his destined mate. Just like that. They get together quickly and are quite fluffy throughout the novel. The beasts are meng.

The story has potential but the flow is all over the place. The plot is so random that it can cause dizziness. The MC can travel back and forth from this new planet to Earth. Yes, EARTH. Life on Earth was destroyed and all animal and human life is gone. When MC first flashes to Earth, it is a green paradise with only plants. No animals, no humans. It is then revealed that the Earth has gained sentience and is now like a spirit of an old man. This Earth spirit allows MC to travel back and forth. So MC takes a few injured beasts there in the course of the story. They are not mentioned again till the end. There is a fight with a villain that just fizzes out.

Apart from the plot flaws, the translation itself is like MTL. There are so many beings called "Xiao" something that it gets confusing who is being referred. The flow of translation is poor.

The story manages be a comedy and tragedy as needed. Its just that some serious issues are brought up but left unresolved. There are a lot of loose ends.

Overall, an average story. If you can ignore all the plot holes and inconsistencies, you might enjoy it. <<less

The story starts with lots of info dumps, seems interesting, but it totally needs a beta reader who speaks English. Or at least somebody who'll help with at least the interpunction. It's as exhousting as mtl.

I had to drop it.

Fifty-two chapters in and I do not know what is going on, why what is happening is happening or how it ties into the story overall.
Coherency is the biggest issue with this story. Some of the chapter are understandable and easier to follow, but they also felt somewhat separate from the rest of the story.
While reading this, it often felt like an idea dump; with some ideas and concepts fleshed out to a readable level while others were merely outlined.
I held on until... more>> chapter 52 but I am going to tap out here, this is not the one. Plus, I found this while browsing the translators' site and was unaware of the r*pe tag, which would have stopped me from reading this to begin with. <<less

I really tried... but I couldn’t continue reading. I don’t know if it’s the translation or the author themselves but it’s hard to understand what is happening because of the phrasing, the pacing and the sheer number of cast members.
I was interested due to the premise of the novel because BL and animals who are always dropping Meng ? Sign me up! But for me... I can’t continue even though I’ve nearly finished... I can’t summon the energy to finish.
The ML and MC are good though. The MC... more>> is black bellied, and too oppressing. It’s a pretty one sided story in terms of power between the two sides. <<less

It was cute, hilarious, lots of adventurous fun, and plenty of interesting side characters. Warning: poorly translated and edited so some parts will be confusing... it did not spoil the storyline or characterisation for me. I could fairly understand the majority of content. I hope to see a better edited version, when I choose to re-read in the future.

My favourite was MC JinYu's personality. Being a weakling in a brutal darwinian distopian world, he would not have survived if not for his special ability, his connections and his cunning. But... more>> his special ability does not make him OP, which he is aware of. I especially liked that he did not feel the need to be a hero and get s*upidly idealistic and have 'save the world' or 'save all the beasts' delusions. He just tries to save the abandoned beasts and lead a quiet life. Even when the war was imminent and the old rulers asked him to negotiate, he refused lol... although he is later forced to compromise. Yes, I like how the MC is both sweet and ruthless, generous and miserly, strong and weak at the same time. <<less

I dropped this novel at chapter 26. That doesn't necessarily mean that the novel is bad. It's just that I don't like the main character.

The MC is like a firecracker, recklessly exploding and cussing at anyone as he pleases, be it a group of gangsters who could easily whoop his bu*t or an end boss kinda 'beast' that could whoop not only his, but also his beasts' butt. Luckily though, that 'beast' turned out to be the ML so his bu*t is safe for the time being. Either way, back... more>> to the MC, another thing I disliked about him was the fact that he acts like an entitled beggar, taking peoples' money and calling them cheap when they don't give more, not even feeling a shred of gratefulness. He is also practically extorting the people in Anjie by scaring the people into giving him money through his horde of beasts.

It may be the fact that the past few novels that I have read were all with reasonable, hard-working protagonists that this MC got to me more. Or it may be that as I am older now that I dislike unreasonable, crude children like the MC. As someone who feels discomfort at the mere thought of causing someone else trouble the mc's behavior made me really uncomfortable. Also I am bad with people who explode with anger easily. It would have been okay if this behavior manifested in a side character, but in an MC I just can't bring myself to read on because a side character doesn't appear all the time while the MC is the main focus of the story so there is no break from him.

So yeah, the MC made me drop the novel. The premise of the novel is what drew me to this novel at first so it could be considered interesting. But I didn't get very far reading it so I can't tell you much about the plot itself.

Other people who appreciate the mc's shameless behavior more than me might actually enjoy reading this novel quite a bit. It's just not for me. <<less

The plot and the characters are interesting and funny. I especially love the kindness that the MC shows towards animals and I enjoy his interactions with both them and other humans.

The translation can be tricky. The grammar is good, but some of the sentences don't make sense. It can be confusing, but you can usually guess the meaning if you read it carefully.

Truth be told, I got bored.

First of all, the language in this story can be pretty crude, which I find pretty comical. That's not the problem. The problem is almost everything else.

Let's talk about MC's crazy golden fingers. Fine, MC has an ML that is strong enough to cover the skies. Fine, MC can communicate with beasts even though some of the other people are actually half-beasts and can't. Fine, MC can also detect beasts' wounds that even the high-tech interstellar devices can't. But the MC can also cure all... more>> those wounds due to some strange power that didn't reeeally get an explanatory backstory?? And to top it all off;

Spoiler

He's some guardian god of Earth??? That has innate abilities to heal everything???

[collapse]

Let's talk about MC & ML's relationship. Let's be clear; ML is basically the yandere beastman ML of every similar story alright. Nothing new there. Why does he fall in love? Who knows! He feels MC is the only one with the abilities he needs, then ta-dah love! Why does MC fall in love? Who knows! He can't get away from ML and then finds his possessiveness sweet, then ta-dah love! I'm actually alright (not happy, but oh well) with their first time scene, because MC admits it was about time, although ML's relentlessness was bad. But seriously, don't read this for its nonsensical romance.

Also, I personally find a lot of parts hard to understand. I don't think it's an MTL problem (?), but sentences and paragraphs often don't really make sense? It's hard to explain, but you'll get what I mean. Even more importantly than that, I feel like the author just forgets to explain things.

Spoiler

Like the whole thing about guardian of earth, one chapter no one knows anything the next MC has some implicit understanding that is never really explained properly to us. The implication is that he became some guardian god, and earth is looking for living beings, but it's not really clear??

[collapse]

Anyway, I think this could've been a gem, but it's really really not. <<less

The interactions between the MC and his beasties are to die for! Their interactions are absolutely adorable!

Summary:

The MC transmigrates into a beast world in which people essentially ens*ave beasts to work for them, though some people do take care of their beast companions better. The MC has the ability to communicate with the beasts, so he slowly but surely creates a home for the abandoned beasties. The ML is a legendary beastie that assigns the MC as his mate, but like all MLs, he has trouble communicating his... more>> thoughts and feelings to the MC, causing misunderstandings here and there.

Overall:

I think the story itself is written pretty well, but there are a lot of side characters and beasties, making it difficult to remember who is who at times. The translation also needs more editing as a lot of sentences and grammar is jumbled up. But overall, I really appreciate the translators for taking the time to translate novels! This novel is a fluffy read with some drama, so I recommend giving it a try! <<less

For some reason, I thought this novel was highly rated. I come back only see that it’s actually pretty mixed T.T Ah, anyways— I got quite far but I ended up giving up in the end. The novel’s cover is quite misleading lol, so is the title. It’s a lot more edgy than it appears. The MC is someone who has the ability to speak to beasts, and after time traveling 100, 000 years into the future, he finds out that he can heal animals now too! This initially might... more>> seem like your general sci-fi—childcare—beast—novel but it’s actually... well; there’s a lot going on? The main theme is based on the present society, which has beast contracted and subservient under humans. As someone that loves beast, the MC naturally leans towards the beast’s side of things, especially knowing what they’ve gone through. But, of course, he can’t ignore the humans either.

The novel starts off quite good. I thought that the slow pacing and the initial worldbuilding was unique and interesting. However, as the story went on, the more inexplicable things got... nevermind the almost incomprehensible writing (idk if that’s the fault of the TL or the original author — I think it’s mostly the latter, cause the novel has quite a few major inconsistencies and isn’t very well planned). Anyway, as a whole, the novel is full of rough patches, so I can see why the reviews are so mixed. I ended up getting fat because I initially expected it to be good and was playing animal crossing while only vaguely listening to it read aloud to me LOLOL. I think it’s fine if you’re looking for a casual, chill read. Though I can’t say you won’t be very frustrated by the end *sneezing face*

CHARACTERS: 5/10

Although I found most of the characters (humans and beasts alike) likeable. They’re not very well developed.

Jin Yu (MC)

Loud and proud kind of MC with a strong will power and absolutely no shame. I actually liked him most in the novel, mainly because he’s a really unique Shou!Type that I don’t see often.

Qi Qinglin (ML)

Typical overbearing and jealous ML. I thought he was interesting at first, but the further the story went, the more useless he became to the development. All he did after they got together was act jealous. Basically, he’s the kind of ML that’s there as an accessory — who revolves entirely around the MC.

ROMANCE: 3/10

The romance is the forced type, in many ways 💀 The MC does consent when it comes to the important bits, but it’s very much dubcon. I don’t find it very romantic at all, and the development is quite boring in the end. I gave it a three simply because I found some of the initial banter charming.

SETTING: 7/10

Although the setting is full of holes and isn’t very well-organized, I gave it a seven because I thought it was interesting. It’s not very unique—the beast/human divide, I mean—but it’s still interesting. The author has a tendency of hopping around like mad, so a lot of things kind of fit awkwardly, but because I wasn’t paying full attention it didn’t bother me LOL. If you decide to give this a shot though, I suggest you prepare yourself for the pitfalls.

PLOT: 6.5/10

As mentioned, the main focus is the divide between beasts and humans. The initial plot was establishing the beasts shop (which was my favorite), I think it could have remained there tbh. I would have enjoyed reading about the cute beasts finding homes. The rest of the plot went around in circles too much for me to really care about.

RATING: 2.68/5

Though my overall opinion of this novel is ‘not bad’, I definitely can’t say it’s anywhere near good. If you’re still interested, read the first 50 chapters or so, maybe? I found the beginning arcs to be the most intriguing, and worth the time invested. As for the rest, it depends on if you have the patience hehe <<less

I found the story interesting (if a bit confusing at times) and I really would have liked to read more, but it seems like the group translating this was in a hurry because there were so many scenes that made absolutely no sense. Maybe the original language was hard to translate (which is understandable) but there were sentences that didn't have any meaning. It got so bad that I had absolutely no idea what was going on. The group usually does very good job in translations so I was honestly... more>> shocked at how bad it was. There was no meaning in reading gibberish so if this gets retranslated I might give it a new shot. I really wanted to know what happens to our MC and ML. <<less

Enjoyable read at first because there is a fair bit of face-slapping by the MC, especially when it involves unscrupulous characters.
Spoiler

Especially funny when he was brought to view the 'treasures' of the past and he had no reaction because he didn't care about old handphones, let alone a set of children's encyclopedia, which he later uses to slap the face of the dragon family when it came to claims regarding the night pearl.

There are some complaints about the translation, which could be improved but I think the real issue is the original writing. Some of it is just word vomit of descriptions that are unnecessary.

I don't really like the MC or ML either. They're both really pretentious? Domineering? Rude?

The MC has a whole attitude of the world owes me. Say one mean thing to me and I'll rob you and your whole family. Abrasive that's what he is. I didn't like his character except some parts of his interactions with the beasts.... more>> His character feels really exaggerated in order to be funny, but he just comes off as a d**k.

The ML has the stereotypical abusive partner that the author is trying to portray as loving. Also an a**hole.

It was overdone and not well written. The characters were really flat too. 1/10 fluffs <<less

The story is good and not hard to understand, funny and has lots of pets. My only issue is that the translation needs editing (names place wrong, words that dont match or sound similar to the one that should be there, typical editing things one can miss) and im not sure if its the translation itself or the author, but some paragraphs are not fluid and keep jumping around, like there is something missing that makes transition weird and the reader needs to fill in the gaps.

I just started and the story dont feel bad but I am very perplexed by this "transmigration":

The MC trasmigrated 10 000 years in the future with HIS OWN BODY after going to sleep. He dont know how or why and first assumed that he died in his sleep (became a fact in chapter 4) and transmigrated.

BUT if he died, how could he transmigrated with his own healthy and upgraded body ?!

Probably his necklace....

This story does not flow, at all, as chapters progress. Character names and beast types change randomly, with for example, the same one being referred to as a wolf, coyote and dog! It's as though the author didn't keep track of their own novel; so how will a reader? However, it got a bit better around mid-way onwards, although character & beast name errors drove me nuts.
JinYu (MC) is crude and pretty arrogant. The language is ridiculous when his anger explodes, out of context with what he's responding to.... more>> I love intelligent, b*tchy, ice cold retorts, over OTT language and outright hostility, any day.
Whilst he's good to the beasts, he's not great with anyone else. He comes across as paying back favours to those that assist him, but look deeper and it almost always comes at an additional price. He feels entitled and justified to do so, when the person is wealthy... even when he himself has become so.
It is, however, gratifying when repulsive characters with malicious intent, get brought down to size.
There's also been a lot of comments about r*pe; however, I didn't read it that way. The character, JinYu, in the following chapter, also clarified he was NOT r*ped.
Exiled Rebels have brilliantly translated many novels and I cannot imagine they would leave an early work on their website that was badly translated/edited, as this could potentially put off new readers that choose this as their first story, from ever reading anything else on there. Therefore the terrible, nonsensical dialogue, choppy story and poor attention to detail, must come from the author.
This story is not 'fluffy' and rarely sweet. I have read other reviews and honestly wonder if I've read a different novel! Each to their own, but this was not for me. Very disappointed, as I was looking forward to loving it, based on the summary. I also like a novel that makes sense, written with characters that are accurately reintroduced throughout the storyline.
On the plus side, there is a strong shout out about treating animals with respect & care, which is relevant to real life. <<less
