Totally not what I expected.

My initial impression was that the novel would be your usual, reverse harem and fluffly reincarnation shoujo otome novels. Oh how wrong I was.

The novel mainly focuses on the main character, Iris and her intoduction of various modern practices, such as banks, compulsary education, and chocolate! The novel focuses more on politics, and there probably won’t be any romance for a looong time, I like it though and it’s a breathe of fresh air compared to all the other otome novels I’ve read. Instead of reincarnation,... more>> it seems more like a body take-over, as the MC is already at the bad end, and doesnt take down any “flags”. Overall a really nice novel, and I can’t wait to read more. <<less

Review up to chap 10~

Is this an otome game? Wtf? This is really different from the usual reincarnation fluffy otome game...

The MC start when she already reach the bad flag route~ where she got throwned and humiliated by her fiancee in public (i wont consider this spoiler since this is the first chapter), this is new...

... more>> And what I like is the story doesn’t focus on the romance, instead focus on the management business (like My Death Flag Show No Sign Of Ending, or Akuyaku Tensei)

Since this is just the first 10 chapter, I won’t say much, but I have a really high hope with this one

Overall : 5/5, will edit later if more chapter out~

Edit : didn't expect there is a manga for this novel, the title called "Koushaku Reijou no Tashinami", it's good~ <<less

The premise out shone the romance plot in a good way. The beats on the romance plot where very shoujo style without the really bring anything good to the table. I found myself having these moments like let her cook with the kingdom building stuff. As soon as the romance guy showed up or side doods I found myself just annoyed. I wish we could have got more originality out of the romance and side doods. Then again I could have aged out of finding that interesting in general.

I'm going from one female oriented novel to another. From a brutal female-led cultivation WN. To a story with a typical "Overworked Office Lady Isekai'd into the role of a Otome-game Villainess" WN. Huge contrast between the two.

This one following a not all that villainy MC (Iris Lana Armelia), the daughter of a duke. She's immediately cast aside to do her own thing, whilst obtaining the authority of a Feudal Lord. Which helps to quickly ramp up towards a startling amount of Kingdom Building, where the MC uses her modern... more>> knowledge to manage and uplift the territory. Focusing more on the various systems the MC puts in place, like tax reforms, than army building. Frequently switching to the POV of others, to get their thoughts on the matter and developing a budding romance.

Which unfortunately takes a lot of time away from developing the MC and messes with the flow of the story. But nothing messes with the story more than the horrendous translations. Making this a good story that falters a bit towards the end and nevertheless offers a terrible reading experience. <<less

I really like this story, I've read it before and just checking again to leave some comment. I actually admire Iris-sama for improving the life in her fief, although she was only assigned temporarily by her father. This story isn't intense or climactic, but it suits my taste. Kindly check it out based on its story line, and not how well or badly written/translated it was. Although I must also say, there are quite a lot of broken links that need to be fixed.

I really enjoyed this MC, she wasn't annoying or pathetically clumsy/Mary Sue, she worked hard for everything she had, and I especially like the acknowledgement of two individuals becoming one, as she kept her pride as a Noble and her ideas from modern world. Loved ML, didn't felt forced and their relationship was well paced, loved the sub couples as well

I don't mind OP character, and I love that this doesn't have harem in it.

Things goes (sometimes too) smoothly for MC, but at least she's not making idiotic blunder (like most heroes). She comes from powerful family, has OP servant under her, so creating otherworldly invention should not be strange.

I would categorize this as mostly slice of life, as the action and romance was only serve as flavor than main course.

Overall, I'm satisfied.

This is good. Period. Idk why people go into a novel with unfounded expectations. Theres thousands of Villainess novels that follow the same or similar formula but this steps out of those boundaries in various ways. It has elements of a villainess novel with a FL type antagonist that everyone blindly believes and it has kingdom building elements like using her little knowledge of our world to better her duchy and even romance. But the best part is that the MC feels like a very real person, she accepts who... more>> she is and isnt obsessed about changing the 'story' or some dumb shit, she isnt possessing someones body, she IS that person... I hate when novels take that part out of it because then nothing really matters if the world isnt real and she doesnt think that she is the person that she is then her actions dont have consequence.

tl:dr - Very good. Strong and smart/capable FL. Good world building (maybe basic) but it works well with the well-fleshed out characters. <<less

4.5 really if I could give that rating.

Overall it's one of my favorite novels. It's very well written, characters are well developed and even the secondary characters get a chance to tell their story and have their moments to shine.

Some people might think the MC is too OP, and I can see why, but being able to see her thinking and how she feels and suffers over the hurtles she has to overcome makes her more believable and human in my opinion.

The only reason I didn't just give it 5... more>> stars is that it is true that sometimes it's hard to know who is talking, and it could be either the translation or the author, but it's bearable, and also because I feel that the ending was a bit rushed.

In the end I'm happy with it and would 100% recommend it to others. In fact, I want to get the physical novels too. <<less

I love novel with strong woman as MC and this novel is one of them. Well, maybe from other review you already know that this isn't your typical romance novel. Actually, this novel even lacks of romance so if you expect some lovey dovey moments, this novel isn't for you. This novel mostly told about MC's journey to change her territory to be more prosperous by adapting modern government style and also inventing new products based on her knowledge of modern world.

Spoiler

Well, I agree in this aspect, MC's knowledge to make something like in a modern world didn't seem make sense. In her past life, she worked in tax office and barely had any leisure time so how did she manage to know how to make, for example, silk? If it's just coffee or chocolate, it still makes sense but silk making is way more complicated. It's not like she could "google" how to make it.

[collapse]

Although MC's knowledge is a bit OP, what she went through during her journey was realistic enough. She didn't always have it easy. In fact, she stumbled many obstacles like getting caught up in the game of throne and also neighbor country's ambition to invade the kingdom. But she managed to get back on her feet again and again and that's what I love about her.

But still, I'm a bit disappointed with the ending.

Spoiler

Don't worry, it's a happy ending but there are some points that make me a bit dissatisfied with the ending.

First, Leticia became a queen.

It's just so out of nowhere for me. I agree that she had a capability but I don't think that's enough. Theoretically, she was a capable ruler but she still lacked of real experiences like Alfred who spent most of his life going in and out territory and did odd jobs here and there. She was protected inside the castle all her life so how could she knew the real state of her kingdom? Bern, as her husband, also seldom left the capital and he was once swayed by Yuri and even abandoned his own sister for her (yes Bern, I still couldn't forgive you).

I still root for Alfred to become a king, not because he's the first prince but because he knew his kingdom and its people well. As for MC, I know she loved her territory so much but I hope she shared her knowledge and ideas on national level. As a queen, she could do much more. Really, it's a pity.

Second, Edward's ending.

I'm sorry if I'm being cruel but I really wish Edward at least regret his action towards MC before he died. But no, the author make his death as something romantic and there's no apology to MC at all.

Third, it's not really related to the ending. Sometimes, it's a bit confusing to read this novel because the author kept changing the POV without much of explanation. Also sometimes the shift between each chapter wasn't done so smoothly as if there was a missing chapter between them.

A masterpiece for a novel. A lot of thought and effort and research seems to have been put into it. Oh, and those rating this low, I notice that that most of you bare read this story. People who haven't completed the story shouldn't condemn it as boring or 2D just as I myself avoided praising it too much until I completed reading it in full. Otherwise you're just as airheaded, flower brained and 2D as Yuri Noir.

I very much recommend reading this novel till the end. And don't take... more>> the story on surface level alone. You'll find it most entertaining if you read it properly at your own pace instead of glancing through it, and taking your time to understand what's going on. I do admit that the epilogue could have been a bit longer and better written, but that aside, it's pretty good. Oh, and remember to switch back from djurasico to Asian Hobbyist the moment you can. Djurasico's translations are terrible and he also tries to make money off you for no good reason when his hosting is FREE, and tries to get you to pay for his own Internet line which is probably uses to play his online games with too. <<less

I dropped it in the middle of reading as I get bored in the middle of reading this. It's alright, but it's a story where you can guess the ending and it just honestly felt like the author is just dragging the story.

The MC is also too OP and she doesn't even try to hide it. I mean she dropped out of high school but she is able to establish so many business by relying on her past life and no-one even questions it. It just honestly doesn't make any... more>> sense. The original MLs beside the FL also all just seems like such a s*upid bunch that you wondered why they are MLs in the original story.

Honestly you are better off finding out spoilers in Novelupdates forum than reading the story. It's not bad but also not good that's why I gave it a 3 star rating <<less

"The Common Sense of a Duke's Daughter" is probably my fav between the (not so) shoujo isekais. It is a slow-romance, but the story so far (at least until the chapter I'm currently at) is more related to the development of the country where The LF currently resides in as the villainess of the game to which she transmigrated into. the country in general is in crisis with the current prospect-to-be crown prince (can't say more to not spoiled you). It has a bit of drama with the corrupt royal... more>> family and so on, superficially is the cliché story of the true villainess being the protagonist of the game, but is a little deeper than only that. The way the FL crushes everything that gets in her way is well thought out, implementing policies, improving of the living conditions and health aspects of citizens, creation of businesses, strategies to further increase the economy, etc..., in short, a good reading, give it a try. <<less

This novel is quite good for me after a comparison to other novel. Its well written, I get it why some people think she is overknowledge when the author only revealed her past as accountany only, variety of knowledge is what I prefer most rather than the super weak M.C being reincarnated from modern society and only does is pretending to be cute, since she also has a weakness which gives the story more interesting. There are some lacking story regarding to her past which is okay for me as... more>> long as I get fascinated so far well who cares. 4 star for me <<less

It's interesting, the plot is nice. The romance was pretty good, territories are always nice and it's pretty unique compared to other otome game reincarnations.

Although in my opinion it would have been better with

  1. More world-building - A better look at her reforms' effects, different POV chaps focusing on various kinds of people in society and their reactions at her reforms might have been interesting, a better insight on the world outside the Tasmeria kingdom, elaborating on things including the reasons for
    Spoiler

    the war in the end

    [collapse]
like economical, political and other reasons, as well as other things would have been nice.
  2. Side characters - Some side characters really fall out of existence right after the beginning or lack screen time (Moneda, Ryle, etc.). Also, Bern and Letticia's romance was started way too late in the story.
