Hyperthymesia. Those with this condition can remember every detail of their lives from something as significant as the world’s turning point to something as small and as insignificant as a minor fleeting thought. They cannot forget and their thirst for knowledge allows them to be considered genius in some senses.

Legend has it that Ji Yushi was this kind of genius.

In addition, it was said that he was gay and very beautiful.

As soon as the news that he was going to support Tianqiong’s seventh squad broke out, it sent everyone buzzing.

Everyone knew that the captain of the seventh squad, Song Qinglan, was a hoodlum and deeply homophobic.

He not only relied on his super-powerful abilities to become the dark horse on the battlefield in less than two years, but he also hates it when those at the top forced a flower vase* into his squad.

Sure enough, Song Qinglan announced in front of everyone, “Useful? Us brothers are going out there working ourselves to the bone, we don’t need a little genius who can only speedread quantum waves!”

Later.

The squad was forced into a dire situation during their mission.

That beautiful little genius calmly continued, every gunfire hitting the mark, his fighting power peaking.

Song Qinglan begged in front of everyone, “Adviser Ji, stay.”

In the end, he added, “I’ll work myself to the bone for you.”

*****

Ji Yushi had a secret.

He would often be awake at night, suffering from memory overload and recurring nightmares.

There was only one thing that could let him fall asleep peacefully.

And that was Song Qinglan.

*Flower vase: Someone who only looks pretty but can’t amount to much

I MADE AN ACCOUNT JUST TO LEAVE A REVIEW ON THIS MASTERPIECE.

It's really good 10 out of 10. I've been reading a lot of bl's lately and this one stands out the most.

The story can be somewhat confusing but all of it will make sense as you read along. The romance is also good. Rn, I'm kind of in the middle of an apocalypse phase, reading this to have a change of pace but was delightfully surprised bcs the first arc is kind of an apocalyptic style 🤩

Thanks for the... more>> translation of this great story 💗 <<less

This is really good. I'm not into sci fi and I'm so glad I started this story. Once I started, I really couldn't stop. The Rubik arc really had me confused, I had to read it twice lol. Our MC was so strong, not just intellectually but physically too and our dear ML was a perfect match.

Translation team did a great job!

This kinda reminds me of a movie called Pre-destination, there are no coincidence only cause and effects. This is my kind of sci-fi theme where EVERYHING makes sense. I just hope that the side-characters would have their own development, I mean they did but in an extra? (Can't get enough of their humor and all)

Overall, it was a very satisfactory read. Great translation. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

★★★★★ [5/5 stars]

I've always been in love with stories about time travel, especially if it's done well. And Mist is definitely one of those well done. Reading novels about time travel requires a lot of effort and focus because it will only goes two ways for the readers, either you will fail to understand it and leave you confuse, or you will feel confuse but you will still hit all the marks in the end. Maybe because both the author and the translator done a great job in creating and... more>> translating this wonderful novel, though I lose most of my brain cells reading this, the flow of the time travel plot is clear as day to me. The story has another level of complexity and you'll never know the actual sequence of the events but it was supposed to work that way because all the events are flowing in circle, no beginning and no ending.

I admire the way the author scattered a lot of foreshadowing all throughout the novel, and in the end you'll realize that the seemingly casual words that was thrown at the beginning actually carried deeper meaning. That's why it was really important to focus on the MC and ML's words. It would leave you speechless once you discover all the hidden foreshadows. The plot gets thicker and thicker each moment and you'll be reluctant to put it down even for a short break. That's the reason why I binge read this novel in a single breath. The mind-blowing plot twists are amazing!

All the characters are great!

The ML is supposed to be the homophobic, straight guy but in the end he's just a deeply closeted gay (exact words from the MC) without a single awareness. He didn't even realize that
Spoiler

his 'first love' from kindergarten

[collapse]
already cemented his s*xual orientation. He was 'homophobic' because of his 'trauma' that he experienced from his creepy gay suitor and ended up generalizing all the gay guys. He was the typical 'judging the book by its cover' person and he really underestimated the MC a lot at the beginning. And that exact attitude comes back to bite him in the ass and slap his face hard in the future. I don't hate his character and I actually find him interesting. Introducing him this way meant that he was going to go through a lot of character development, and I love great character development that happens naturally.

The MC is this indifferent, calm and collected guy with a cold, pretty face. He's an open gay and proud of his s*xual orientation. I loved it whenever the ML shows his disdain towards the MC, saying that he should just stay as the team's flower vase and avoid doing something that will drag the team down and just lay down and win or that he looked so fragile and might not even able to protect himself, and the MC was like *shrugs shoulders* and didn't even give a single f*ck. Since he has a condition called Hyperthymesia that makes him remember every single details that he saw, felt and heard, he was not only the brain of the team that analyzes the situation, he also has a huge contribution in making their team complete the mission. Not only that, because he has the ability to remember everything, he would certainly not let a single grievance go unreturned. He was a vengeful little devil. Do something bad and he will surely write the note down. The moment that you already forget about it, that's the time he will make you pay.

The MC and the ML really complement each other. The way their relationship just smoothly and naturally progressed. The tension even in their 'enemy stage' is palpable and the slowly building up romance is perfectly made. The ML's feeling towards the MC is natural, from disdain --> appreciation and respect --> care --> love, it didn't feel awkward at all. The ML slowly felt the 'foreign' feeling inside of him and only thought that he cared for him as a teammate, but when he realized the true meaning of his feelings, he was not in denial just because he thought he was a straight guy and tried to brushed it away. No, he didn't do that. He accepted it and finally realized that he can actually have that kind of feeling towards the MC, regardless of the s*xual orientation. The fluff that comes after the confession makes me so giddy, I actually found myself grinning countless times.

Also, the guys from the seventh squad, I can't say enough good things about them. They're all so funny, lively, loyal and so likeable. I adore their relationship as a team so much. I especially loved them after the confession part. They're all like a mischievous children teasing and pairing their friends together and they're the biggest shipper of the MC and ML.

All in all, this novel is highly recommended! I only have limited words to describe how much amazing this was. It was so worth it! <<less

It was interesting. Story wise, I can tell the author put a lot of thought into it. The characters were compelling and the dynamic between the squad members was enjoyable to read. In fact, the human element in this story made it worth the read. Especially the MC's struggle. However, the story overall is not my cup of tea.

First of all, the back and forth between time and space can be confusing because ... more>>
Spoiler

some missions they die repeatedly and have to do the missions again and even do the missions with their doppelgangers... well not really but...a little complicated

[collapse]

The explanations of time and space travel and the different theories are interesting if you like digging into physics theory, however if you are like me and don't want to think too much when reading just for entertainment then you may get annoyed after a while because this story centers around many time space concepts that the author tried to explain and demonstrate... not always successfully in my opinion. That's the second reason I don't give this review five stars.

Another reason for not being satisfiy is also the same reason why I liked it, the characters' imperfections
Spoiler

The MC is petty. The ML makes too many assumptions leading to misunderstandings. The MC's father is an *sshole, though I get why he abandoned his son he's still the worse dad.

[collapse]

And the last reason I can't really give my heart to this story is a personal quirk of mine
Spoiler

I'm not a fan of quick transmigration stories where they world hop and that's how I felt reading about them going from mission to mission. It even had a d*mn "system" which hijacked them and I'm not a fan of system stories either... so yeah I'm ranting because I FEEL TRICKED!! I feel like I read a system and world hopping novel in disguise. *pouting*

[collapse]

But reading it for purely the character development and interactions was enjoyable, 4 stars. <<less

Pros :

The MC. MC is smart, too smart sometimes but still cute. I like how there's a story about why MC became that way. MC seems human and has feelings. The ML is kinda annoying at first but you'll soon realised that ML cares a lot about his teammates. ML has a lot of good qualities. Their relationship is to die for literally. ML loves MC more than you think. I like how everything ties up.

The arcs are super interesting. My fav is the ouroboros arc. It's understandable as I... more>> am an avid zombie fan. The story is plot heavy, sometimes I need to space between chaps.

MC's dad. Damnnn I hated him at first but the last main chapter changes everything. Now I shall proceed to cry myself to sleep. Fortunately the extras soothe my soul.

Cons :

Sometimes too plot heavy, I don't rlly mind it. There's not a lot of romance scenes in the first half but more of I-will-suffer-to-see-you-happy type of chapters. <<less

Okay so this novel is amazing. It is very well thought out, interesting, and the characters are uniquely cool. Love it 10/10. This novel gives a very different and unique vibe. I love the time travel element, the story just feels very different compared to other novels with similar generas. I would really reccomend reading it too since a lot of the twists seem to come out of nowhere but then you look back and are like WHOAH IT WAS LIKE THAT. Also you don't really expect them either. I... more>> did enjoy the twist at the end, I thought it was very creative and made the entire story feel somewhat symbolic. The only real issue is that it isn't completely fresh in my mind since I read most of the novel in July and then would wait for updates gradually and some of the excitement and plot aren't super fresh in my mind.

Characters and romance, honestly a creative new take on MCs. I liked the MC, he was cool: both strong and smart. Pretty impressive. I liked how his personality was rather realistic, he wasn't someone who would just lie down and get bullied, he fights back. And can be a bit petty. I also think it is interesting to have a MC with disabilities, although his disability is more like a super power to us not in a novel normal human beings. The ML is also a lot of fun. He is just, idk how to describe it, I love him. He doesn't really belittle anyone and he is kind of funny with the MC. I appreciate their relationship honestly, it's so cute. They actually have a lot of screen time together when they are being a little suspicious, but at the same time not actually being in a relationship. I just love when they are together being cute, they both essentially find comfort and peace in each other that completes them.

Plot, no spoilers here sorry. It's amazing. Wacky time travel stuff that kind of makes sense but also not but is also extremely entertaining. Each mission has a different time related complication that are all very interesting. I honestly wish the different missions were a little more fleshed out because they you could dive in more deeply and the worlds would be a bit less confusing, but at the same time they are at very good lengths with just enough emotional drama so that you never get bored.

I love this novel a lot, I really reccomend it. It is both very smartly done and all of the characters are really funny and likeable. :) <<less

Thrilling adventure.

Even though I don't quite understand the time traveling concept presented in this novel, it didn't hinder me from enjoying their journey to love.

Love, family and purpose of life in this novel was strong. It gave the young MC tenacity to uncover the truth, his father despite of his craze but still doing what he can to stay by MC side and ML to bring back MC to his side.

They're intertwined to form a complete circle (I'm still immersed in the novel world).

It's an enjoyable novel.

This novel is complex so it's not suitable for readers who are looking for something light. BUT it is amazingly good and mind blowing. I haven't read much time travel genre novels so everything is new for me. The missions can get a little confusing at times and requires you to re-read the sentences for a bit but it all adds up in the end. For an action novel with a little over 100 chapters, it wrapped up pretty well. Definitely memorable and highly recommended!

Also, a slight note regarding the... more>> ML being h*mophobic, it's actually not really true -

Spoiler

In the past, ML was courted by a male suitor and the other party's actions was pretty excessive, making ML feel rather irate. So it's more of ML's dislike towards that certain person rather than anyone who is gay. It's also not to the extent of having PTSD. Although ML can be a little foul-mouthed at the beginning, he isn't that bad.

[collapse]

It takes almost 2/3 of the story before the MC and ML got together but throughout the novel, you see their relationship slowly change from being unfamiliar to partners that work so so well together. It's gratifying to see MC opening up to the ML and finally having someone by his side. I wouldn't say their romance is the fluffy kind, it's a bit more spicy and mature, the kind that has been through thick and thin. MC and ML actually reminds me a little of the main CP in Modu/silent reading.
t also good to see the side characters having their own personality and screen time.

The translator is excellent and releases chapters at a steady speed. Thank you! (´。• ᵕ •。`)

WHAT A GEM!!! HOLY HECK THIS REALLY GETS YOUR BRAIN GOING!! SO BRILLIANTLY WRITTEN !! LITERALLY MIND-BLOWING, IN BOTH SENSE.

I’LL SAY IT HERE!! THIS ENEMIES TO MUTUAL RESPECT TO LIFE AND DEATH COMPANIONS TO LOVERS COUPLE IS SO CUTE!!!

PSA: initially had left this on my ‘potentially good’ list for a while and hadn’t started because of the synopsis. BUT FRET NOT!!! They aren’t homophobic! (E.g. He doesn’t go ew ur gay? Tr*sh!) ML has reasons behind it and was just a bit of a bastard in the beginning (but it’s... more>> not horrible at all actually), and after the first arc they become really good teammates and worked super well together. ML becomes super super devoted and sweet later on (like after ch20 he’s not bastard-esque anymore) SO DON’T BE SCARED IF YOU’RE HESITANT BECAUSE OF THE SYNOPSIS!!!

the plot and each arcs are VERY VERY complex. There are many mentions and instances of time paradoxes and the concept of time in this novel. You really need to concentrate to understand thoroughly, my pea-brain was fried during the process but oh heck it was worth it. The translation is also very good and flows well. ALSO SO MANY TWISTS DAMN.

there are elements of mystery and puzzle-solving which reminds me of unlimited flow novels so this was definitely my cup of tea!

the team members are also very cute, li chun is my favorite!!! The author planned this novel so well and I loved it!!

MC and ML are also very realistic, they’re not overly OP; however, when they’re together, it’s like a golden duo. They support and help each other through life and death scenarios. Not to say that without each other they are bad, but they definitely shine together!

i recommend you don’t read any spoilers!! Everything will make sense in the end.

Oh Lord, if you wanna be confused read this. If you want to be confused even more, brace yourself and enter the raws because you were too impatient to wait.

In the beginning, I mainly read this because I love the cold/elegant/smart shou x the sarcastic/Adonis body/wolf pup gong. That's my favorite trope.

And then the entire plot of the story just threw me in for a ride.

... more>> The novel focuses heavily on logic and philosophy. My pea brain overloaded a lot. I read the text but understanding it? No way.

Nevertheless, the novel is amazing and I will definitely come back once translations are finished.

I just- the entire foreshadowing, hints, and interactions all made sense In the end.

The giant loop was just *mind blown*

All in all, wonderfully novel. I can't say much because it's a story you must experience for yourself.

Too good/10

Mind blowing. If I could I would give it more than 5 stars.
Honestly one of the best novels I’ve ever read. From the plot to the characters everything was written so beautifully. The complicated storyline might not be for everyone but it was done so well I couldn’t stop reading. No normal person could ever right such an intricate and meaningful plot. In fact, the plot twists were not out of place or there just to give the storyline something new. All situations were so well thought out and... more>> full of meaning that the reader could never understand until they read the whole book. The ending felt like completing a cycle.
Also, the relationship between Ji Yushi and Song Qinglang progressed in such a natural way it was so sweet. The way they trusted and protected each other made me so emotional.
Not only them, but the relationship between the seventh squad is so wholesome I could not help but root for them all. Just a bunch of dorks, truly love them.
Some of the themes discussed literally changed my point of view on certain aspects of life as they were portrayed in a unique way.
Even if it might not seem like your cup of tea, PLEASE give it a try I promise you will not regret it! <<less

This is a masterpiece. What an amazing MC. The MC carries so hard, but the plot and how time travel is handled go even further. The relationship between the MC and the ML is also dahfdafdhaf so satisfying. The way the ML goes from hating and disrespecting the MC to having a tacit understanding and loving the MC was so gratifying.

The main reason I loved this novel (other than its well thought plots) was time. Honestly, as I finished it, it left me wondering about our current understanding of time and the philosophy surrounding it. What if Sheng Yun never did what he did? What if humans continued to mess around with Tianqiong and ultimately killed themselves? And on that note, what even is time? What is the past, the present, the future?

There are some messy bits I believe - the author constantly reminding us how amazing™ song qinglan's legs... more>> are (I'm not kidding, I wish I were) and the behaviour of the rest of the seventh squad which did make me iffy, especially during the confession scene. (Think fangirling in thai bls but these were self proclaimed "steel straight men") Honestly wondered if I was suddenly watching a thai bl lmao

overall, imo the plot makes up for it so yea! Its most certainly not a disappointing read <3 <<less

At first, I wasn't truly interested in this story. But after reading a few more chapters, I was really immersed in the story. The plot was kind of heavy but also entertaining. The part when the characters were at deadlock also made me a little anxious. I've some novels and this novel is one of the novels I've read where I rarely have hope that everyone, not just the two main characters, could have their happy ending. I always so anxious when reading that a character was in a danger... more>> and wished that they all could stay alive at the end of the story.

Reaching the middle of the story, it was quite dragged and I almost got bored. But it soon became exciting again.

Well, some of the time overlap and things like that may never be understood by my rotten brain, but at least I still could follow the storyline. It's kinda hard to digest but fortunately the author explained it very cleary in the story.

Also thank you KK Translate for the hard work! Hope you still well and healthy to continue your translation web. <<less

The best Unlimited Flow danmei I've ever read. Although I love this genre, I'm always hesitant to get into Unlimited Flow stories because I've read a lot that have puzzles/instances that just don't make sense at all. But here the puzzles are fun and engaging. They don't fall into the infodump and too much exposition trap, and most importantly: they make sense. They're not super perfect or utterly devoid of loopholes but they do mostly make sense within the logic of the novel's world and how their time travel system... more>> works. The first instance in this novel is genuinely, jaw-droppingly amazing. It has one of the best uses of time travel and time paradoxes that I've seen in fiction. I'd recommend trying the novel even if it's just for the first puzzle alone, but I would really recommend sticking until the end because of how well everything ties together. Time travel is such a beast of a trope to introduce in a story but the author handled it magnificently. Like most Unlimited Flow danmei, the MC is super smart and capable, and he's paired with an equally formidable ML who works really well with him. They're not particularly unique characters, and they don't have particularly unique circumstances (there's the mystery of Ji Yushi's father's death that he can't let go of as well as his Hyperthemesia, but other than that both him and Song Qinglan are fairly well-adjusted people who were surrounded by loving families growing up) but their dynamic was more than enough to make them fun and engaging to follow.

This is one of the most satisfying novels I've ever read. The time travel and time paradox elements were utilized so well. The ending tied everything together and all major plot points and emotional points were given sufficient closure. Although the romance is fairly slowburn, we get to see a lot of it before and after. I love slowburn romance but I hate it when stories don't give us enough time to see how they are as a couple. In Mist, we get to see a lot of Ji Yushi and Song Qinglan's blissful, domestic life too. <<less

It was very interesting. I absolutely loved the MC. The ML was fairly good too and the progress of their relationship was well written and funny.

As for the plot, it was quite disturbing, a psychological horror if I ever saw one - the novel definitely delivered in this. Although in later parts it kind of lost on some of the scariness, because death was never actually permanent no matter how many times they died.

Because it's all about time & space travel, it was quite confusing at times, I am not... more>> 100% certain I understood everything the author wanted to convey. The author tried really hard to make things be realistic and make sense, to avoid and explain time related paradoxes. But it was all very complicated and inevitably there were moments that did not really make that much sense or small details here and there that I guess the author forgot to consider. Of course, the fact that I read a translation (as well done as it is), could have also meant some information was lost. I contemplated lowering my rating to four stars because of this, but since I enjoyed this novel a lot anyway and finished it without getting bored or too frustrated, I left it at five stars. <<less
