I Raised A Black Dragon

Description

The witch, Eleonora Asil, has fifteen previous convictions.

And the transmigrator, Noah Park, had no intentions of being involved in the novel’s original plot of the dragon beheading the villainess. With that thought in mind, she abandoned her title as The Wicked Witch and sought to live a long and peaceful life.

So she heads down to the countryside wrought with deep remorse for all her misdeeds. And all should be happy… or she thought.

“Please raise me!”

And so it would seem that she stumbled upon the heroine’s pet dragon — the black-haired kid that would turn ballistic and obsessive later on — imprinted the villainess as his mother. And to make matters worse, the male lead suspects her as the prime culprit of stealing the dragon.

“How long should I keep up with you?”

She thought he’d arrest her right away, but seems like the male lead was slowly becoming the dragon’s butler.

“Can I hug you?”

“No.”

“Then… can you hold me?”

The villainess believes that the dragon needs a bit of taming.

‘Oh, male lead, won’t you sign a life contract as a real butler?’

EDIT: okay I'm editing this comment because I wrote it in the heat of the moment and reading it again is making me want to die. If you saw the old comment I am so sorry none of it made sense.

A lot of the reviews sh*t on the MC for being incredibly lazy but honestly, as a college student myself (in her final year please pray for me), she is a BIG MOOD. I don't think I know one college student who wouldn't be as lazy as her if... more>> they suddenly transmigrated into a story where the plot happens so much later that one can afford to lay in bed and not do anything. NGL I have like six assignments due right now (one being reading a whole ass book lmao) and I'm not doing sh*t besides laying in bed and mindlessly scrolling through social media, so Noah is the most relatable and realistic character I have ever read.

A lot of people also complain about how she is incompetent and s*upid enough that she doesn't cook or clean, but once again, that's a big f*cking mood. If I didn't live with my parents right now (f*ck u covid u ugly b*tch), I probably wouldn't be having regular meals. I, and so many other college students I know, straight up skip meals because they are too tired to cook, too poor to cook, have a mental illness that makes eating incredibly hard, or work too much to cook.

That leads me on to another thing a lot of people don't like about this novel, which is the fact that Noah and Kyle's relationship isn't good and how Kyle does everything for Noah. This is one way for the author to deepen their relationship. Kyle, thinking he's pursuing a DANGEROUS CRIMINAL, comes to her house and sees one lazy f*cking b*tch. That helps him realize that the original Eleonora is gone and that this new one is good.

Overall, I can see how this novel is really frustrating for others because they don't like Noah's laziness and her indifference to her surroundings and powers. But as a burnt-out college kid who wants nothing more than all this bullsh*t to stop and a nap, she is so relatable. If I knew that I could get by in life without doing anything or even caring about my special powers--because all they would bring is trouble--I would probably be as lazy and tired as Noah. The bit*h is tired because of life let her be lazy lmao.

The only thing I really don't like about this novel is how Noah didn't care for Mu in the beginning and didn't give him a name until like 15 or 20 something chapters? Like lady that is a child... please protect him... children are precious and need to be safe. Even if a person doesn't like children I think they should at least show kindness and love to the child as best they can.

So TLDR: Noah is one lazy bit*h who is a big f*cking mood, but I wish she liked Mu from the beginning and I wish I could change my rating to give it four stars because jesus christ it's so long get on with it please. <<less

First of all the translation was great, excellent I didn’t have any problems reading, it’s was well translated so it’s was easy to comprehend

ok, here’s are the reasons of why I will abandon this novel: MC says she is lazy, ok, I’m also lazy. But the level of her laziness makes me feel offended, no matter how lazy you are you will no treat yourself bad right? You will eat properly. But MC not! She is more capable of dying of malnutrition, maybe she doesn’t like to cook, doesn’t like... more>> to wash the dishes.... you can just buy well food in a restaurant right? Or go to a restaurant to eat properly that makes sense right?

another point is MC knows the plot of the novel, and she doesn’t want to be involved with the main characters, I got it, but that doesn’t mean you can let yourself becomes a tr*sh. You are a villainous so even if you don’t do anything the plot will follow you, you should be at least master the power of you actual body, for what? To protect yourself! If you truly doesn’t want to eat well and doesn’t want to be pestered by the plot you should just su*cide and HE

ML is there cleaning the house, making the food, MC have the character to be lazy and doesn’t want to wake up to just eat breakfast!!! Woman! You! Are! Dying! Because! Of! Bad! Nutrition!
you don’t want to be involved in the original novel but you let the ML stay in your house without doing something !

ok I just to need to relax myself, I feel this novel is offending my IQ <<less

I see people complaining about her laziness being unrealistic..... I hate to break it to you guys, but it's real. I'm one of those people. I've somehow gone 1-2 months without cooking once, and I've sometimes gone days without food just because I didn't feel motivated to move.

To be honest, it's probably a weird mix of undiagnosed anxiety/depression and an utter lack of actual, healthy, functional coping mechanisms. Plus, once you settle into a rhythm of apathy, it's hard to motivate yourself to care about your surroundings again. So, yeah,... more>> this stuff definitely exists outside of fiction.

Is it healthy? No. Should this suicidal lifestyle be turned into a comedy side piece? Probably not. But in a way it's nice seeing characters of all types, including the unhealthy ones, as protagonists for a change. I hope the author steers her growth in a better, healthier direction to give hope to those struggling to accomplish simple daily functions, like me. <<less

Some of y'all flat out do not understand this book and that's okay. It's not for you. If you've never had depression, worked yourself literally to the brink of death, all for nothing... it makes sense that the MC is the way that she is in the beginning. She's not lazy. She's sick and trying to recover from everything life has taken out of her.

I don't understand how people say the plot lacks a hook at all. Its in the title. The baby dragon. Why'd it choose her? (And not... more>> even the host body she was in, it chose her, Noah Park.) This book is well reasoned and has an intriguing mystery that connects EVERYTHING in the book together. Something you think is just an offhand comment to fluff out the piece comes back to be important later. It's well paced, and the characters and their interactions feel organic.

I find myself liking Kyle a lot more than most ML, he's courteous without being a pushover, and quick to accept when he's made mistakes and more importantly uses his brain and BELIEVES her when she tells him things. Trusts her. Perhaps more than he trusts himself.

The relationships to me feel very organic in the way they grow.

I really love this book and it's definitely in my top 5. Are there flaws? Of course, no work is perfect and this is just my own opinion. All I can tell you is that there was never a point where I 'stalled out' while reading this novel. Every time I tabbed back to it I was excited to keep going. The translation is also excellent! Major props to the folks at Sweet Escape, I know I'm going to take a look at the other things they've worked on now that I've caught up with this novel. <<less

I see a lot of complaints on MC being s*upidly lazy and how it's unrealistic but I hate to break it to you all, but that shit's real.

Lacking the motivation to do even the most basic tasks or necessities are textbook signs of depression. I think the problem was the author writing it as comedic factor, when none of that is funny, causing people to misunderstand MC.

I found this pretty ok novel, fun for killing time and but not really that deep to warrant a 5 star rating.

I have yet to write a review on a novel's page because other people have brought up issues I would have complained or praised but this one irks me. There are only 5 star reviews that praise the FL (Which I am honestly appalled by) so I am going to write a 1 - 2 star review.

I do not like Noah Park. She is lazy, which is fine because I myself am super lazy but she is s*upidly and I mean s*upidLY lazy. She is lazy so that somehow... more>> justifies that she does not eat properly because it is too much of a hassle to clean dishes. So what does she do? She eats junk food like cookies and other quickly prepared food. How can someone survive like this? If the ML had not come and investigate her, she would have died to MALNUTRITION! She is someone who wants a "slow life" similar to some Japanese protagonists yet she is okay with her body withering away slowly due to eating junk food? Like come on that is so dumb. Everyone likes to eat good food and unless they are mentally impaired will they neglect their nutrition to this extent. She has to know that she will die if she keeps eating like that. Also on the topic of magic. Elonora Asil is an infamous witch. Who is renowned for her magical skills and devices but Noah does not care about it at all. This does not make the story bad but it irks me personally to see Noah Park waste all that potential. She doesn't have to have ambitions like conquering the world but it would be fantastic if she utilized Elonora's cheat magic potential to at least protect herself or help other people.

Spoiler

Her only skill is to use magic tools like her magic blanket to wrap the ML and immobilize him while SHE TAKES A FRIKIN NAP! You ASSAULTED an OFFICER of the LAW and nothing is wrong!? WTF? Especially this officer has been chasing her for 5 years and thrown her in jail 15 times!

[collapse]

At first, the potential of this story was pretty good but after reading, to c27, I can only hope that it will change... I have a lot of tolerance for Rom-Com novels as they do not usually have the BEST of plots and that's okay because it is a Rom-Com but this was just blatantly s*upid. I guess the author just really wanted to get into writing the fluffy bits of the story while incorporating a cheat character with a dumb MC, a righteous and serious detective ML, and a baby dragon. Would not recommend unless you are interested in these 3 things. Note: It is possible that maybe Noah will suddenly, inexplicably, come to her senses and improve herself (and not die by malnutrition) but the chances of that seems pretty low. <<less

Nora, the main character, was refreshing at first when she found the dragon egg and had to deal with the aftermath. She stubbornly held onto her comfortable new way of life but adapted to the changes thrown at her with ease and humor. However, that changed when Kyle, the ML, gets introduced. It became evident at how useless she was. She's lazy to the point where the ML had to feed her. After transmigration into a novel, she had had two years in an overpowered body and she had no... more>> curiosity whatsoever in learning about the original body's owners situation or powers or even about the outside world that she read about? Really?

A mystery is sort of hinted at later but that's because the ML is the only driving force behind trying to figure out its root (he is a detective after all). Then Nora finally decides to do something proactive and tries to help except her observations and conclusions are all over the place. I understand that this is supposed to be a comedy but her naivety in light of everything else she is makes it tedious.

And so far, the ML has the charisma of a carrot and is also stubborn to a fault. But that's probably because he's taking care of a woman-child.

The scenes with the dragon are cute though. <<less

I will rate once I've read more chapters but so far I'm liking the story.

I just want to address one thing. MCs laziness to cook and eat proper meals. Guess what? I am an example of such a person. I often skip lunch or dinner.

I work at night. At the end of my shift the company provides breakfast so I eat that. I go home, read a bit then sleep, I wake up then hurriedly prepare to go to work again. Mostly I also skip dinner. (I order take out... more>> if I still hav ed time) At work, I munch on anything: cookies, chocolate, biscuits, etc. Like Noah I mostly eat or cook processed food whenever I'm motivated to cook.

I know my diet isn't healthy but I've never been in her condition. (I don't have a dragon siping my mana tho) . Eight years ago, I was told I'm anemic but it has not given me problems now. I'm 5ft tall and weigh around 40 kg.

I'm trying to change my habits now tho, coz of COVID.

Anyway, my whole point is Noah's character of being lazy to eat or cook does exist in real life. Call it s*upid but yeah we're s*upid.

Edit: (ch 58)

I shouldn't have wasted my words defending her laziness. There's more to this novel than her being a sloth. It seems this novel is like an adventure with a dash of action in it. Not much but still enough to keep you on edge if you invested yourself towards the novel. I don't know how the story unfolds in the future but I'm sticking with it.

The novel so far portrayed elements of fluff, romcom, mystery, adventure, and action (not much but it's there) . <<less

So, a lot of comments are about how lazy the MC is, and they think it’s over the top, but honestly the way I see it she seems depressed, she isn’t lazy from the start, she previously died from overwork, and probably she died over a work that she didn’t enjoy at all (she was an ordinary office worker after all) if anyone has a seriously depressed person in their life they would clearly see the resemblance not wanting to clean not wanting to cook and even eating can be... more>> bothersome to them.

but if it’s about the translation... it’s bad but better than nothing <<less

The translation, the writing, the plot, and the characters all are wonderful, what's there not to love??
This might be the best web novel I read in a long long while. I'm surprised how balanced it's written!
The romance is really slow-paced but it's okay because all the other events are rewarding. Normally I don't like FL and ML's bickering but this one was actually sweet.

What I liked about the story:
-There is both magic and technology which is interesting bc it's rare amongst these kinda novels.
-Her laziness is... more>> very natural due to the circumstances of her past life. Plus as a lazy person myself, I can understand her.
-There is no petty character, no easy villains, no ML completely simping to the FL.
-The little dragon is very cute and protective, I love him.
-Usage of the given knowledge was quite satisfying too.

Normally I'd write a dislike segment but honestly, I can't find it with this one. Such good story writing. I can't believe this is just a web novel and not a published one. Wowi.
Even if the translation is not finished yet, my first 5/5 goes to this. <<less

The reason I read so far is because of the ML and the baby dragon (he's so cute <3). But MC is becoming more and more irritating as the chapter goes by.

I understand when the other reviewers addressing the laziness of the MC and I agree. I try to rationale with it since she tries her beast not to get involved in the main story and to lay low because the body she possessed is that of renowned villainess. But really, she is a mess, and she doesn't like to... more>> use her brain. She knows about the story of the world, but she doesn't seem to understand the degree of seriousness of her situation.

If we were to be rational, you will think that since you're in a body of a most wanted criminal, isn't it natural that you have many enemies that goes after you? You're willing or not, you're bound to face some life threatening situation in the future, but she doesn't use her brain that far?? She is in an overpowered body (most powerful witch in the empire) in a magical world (main foundation of this world) but she doesn't even have willing to learn magic??? Or getting to know about the history of the world or at least, body's past history (who she made a problem before and who she needs to look out for) but just like "it will be fine if I will be chopped up in my house" um.. Naïve lady, that's not--

If she were to understand from how the ML despise her when he still didn't know that she's different person, then how about the reaction of the other people? Thankfully, ML is such understanding, smart man who knows to differentiate that it's not right to treat her like a criminal when she's not the actual criminal.

I was quite pissed when she decided to go out of the town (the destination is none other than the capital, where a lot of people will recognized her), but she doesn't even bother to disguise herself, and continue acting dumb and naïve throughout the time she spent in capital, and be a huge burden to ML.

Others seems to see her naivety as comedic, but for me, there's nothing fun nor interesting about this character. She's just having a overpowered, full of potential body and beautiful face. That's it. Poor man ML have to take care of her (to the point that his outstanding value as a genius man reduced to become a mere servant for her).

contrary to MC, I have quite a lot of praise for ML. Other that what I already point out above, it is quite rare to find a ML that is not condescending towards woman (even more so to his nemesis), he continues to display his cleverness and commitment as a detective, and at the same time, a kind and sincere person.

so yeah. I dropped this cause I cant stand the MC any longer <<less

I’m fine with the MC being lazy but the literal world bends itself over backwards for her to have her luxury.

She doesn’t have any will to live and so the author wrote in the strongest plot armor in existence for everyone to simply pamper and take care of her.

Try and picture the story without our MC and you’ll realize how empty this whole world is though.

Need to have 0 thoughts during the novel to appreciate it.

I have read up to 42 chapters and so far... it's okay. Sometimes not having expectations is a good thing and it's true in this case. Do I want to continue reading? Perhaps if the author steps up their game then I would continue reading because as of now, I don't like it.

MC is (or was) a villainess who was arrested at least 15 times because of the crimes she committed. And to avoid being executed, she ran away and lived by herself avoiding the main characters. In the original... more>> story, she coveted a baby dragon possessed by the heroine. But dun dun dun dun... she was the one who found the baby dragon egg first and therefore had to nurture it.

There are a couple of things that I don't like from this novel and the main problem lies in the MC herself. She's really problematic, lazy to the point of starving herself and getting sick (because apparently cooking your own food and cleaning is a huge responsibility for her). It also irritates me how she was being reincarnated into the infamous magician with adept magic capabilities but didn't make use of it. In every novel that I've read before, every MC makes use of their body to improve themselves and the MC just chose... not to. Because again, she's lazy. I get it, she wants to avoid jumping into the limelight and ran away into a secluded place to live life peacefully. But at least, please, please utilize your magic...

Spoiler

Although I guess not practicing magic convinces ML that she's not the old villainess, but still. Think about the possibilities that could happen if only she practiced magic...a pity. It would've added a more interesting spice into the story.

[collapse]

As for the ML, I'm not sure why but I just can't seem to like him. ML is an officer ordered to capture and interrogate the MC, and some things happen, forcing them to stick with each other. MC takes advantage of ML, making him a personal maid who cleans, makes food, and takes care of her (she and her laziness... for God's sake). The pace is alright for me although I haven't found the chemistry between MC and ML as the story goes.

The dragon baby is clingy, but also extremely prickly with others besides the MC. It's due to fear of being thrown away. I think he can pass as a yandere despite being 5 years old-ish. Story-wise, nothing huge has happened and a lot of mysteries are yet to be uncovered. It's not bad, but it's also not that good either. There's just nothing that hooks me and makes me go crazy for this story, so I just read this in the passing. <<less

  1. 5/5 it's really fluff and we'll written and translated.
  2. The story has a nice pace and it doesn't have a really complicated plot, with is nice considering the theme of the story.
  3. Elonora is a likible character as well as the cutest baby dragon. The male lead seems to be a good person, but we shall see.
I really recommend reading.

My rating is pretty much going down.

The MC is just s*upid nonredeemable s*upid. Mind you, I'm describing her at the end of this novel where she got complete resonance with the dragon magic and she all forget about it. I understand that she's weak at the beginning but seriously even at the last moment, the last chapter she is still freaking s*upid. The most damnable MC I've ever read. Apparently she is also a scumbag. ... more>>
Spoiler

as of chap 236, after everything they've done, confessing and kissing and hugging and such, the MC wanted to have no strings attached, no commitment, just be ambiguous with each other, fwb is that it MC? Author is really trying to make some hardships in their romance but seriously its just plain s*upid

[collapse]

ML is okay, dragon is okay, even the villains are better than her. The villains have more character than the MC, especially Eleanora, I kinda actually like her more with just the extras since she has more depth.

The dragon is barely there. All the author did to him is mention him with the " the kid is smiling cutely at the side". That's all he was at the later chapters.
Spoiler

Noah scoffed. After all she had done, going into the so-called hotel and solving the problem by herself, even going as far as to find Adrian and rescue Lenia... Kyle did not trust her in the slightest.

This is too funny she did NOT at all do anything to fix any problem. She was just there moving around, experiencing things around her. In fact, she even left behind Lenia the person she was trying to save somewhere in the building with another guy. Adrian showed himself at will, she DID NOT FOUND HIM, HE FOUND HER. She doesn't have any plan to stop Adrian from blowing up the place, if it weren't for Kyle and Muel being there the whole place would have blown up.

"Look at all I have done!" She gestured to the factory. "I did this! I solved the mystery! And aside from hitting my collarbone on the railing, I am perfectly alright!"

Like I said she was just experiencing things around her. She did not solve any mystery. Muel accidentally teleported her there. She ended up walking there. Talked to a researcher who is so docile who leads her everywhere and that where he read Adrian's diary.

[collapse]

The said novel the MC transmigrated to if you have confusion

Spoiler

MC wasn't actually transmigrated in a novel. Her soul just did dimension hoping. The said novel she has is a book the magicians made for fun, this was mentioned in the early chapters when Adrian and Noah are having lessons. It is said that these magicians are having hyperactive imagination and so they created many novels of different scenarios and sold them to the citizens. One book got accidentally in the portal of the dragons (maybe the dragon got addicted in novels too) which went to the world of MC. This novel then became the medium between two worlds. MC thought the novel is what that world should be.

I like this novel a lot. It’s a pretty typical Korean isekai romance novel. It’s got fluff, the characters are funny, and the translation is great. It’s not the best or most amazing novel of all time but it’s definitely a fun read. It’s a good novel to read if you want to kill time.

skip the rest if you want it’s just me disagreeing with some of the grievances other readers had with the MC.

There are a lot of reviews saying how the MC is too lazy and that she’s... more>> s*upid. I disagree, but I’m not going to praise her for her habits either. People say her iq is too low because the MC should know she’ll die of malnutrition or something along those lines, but she’s relatable. I know plenty of people and even myself, who don’t cook because we don’t want to do the dishes. Cooking feels like a lot of effort sometimes so I understand why the MC wouldn’t want to cook. She’s living exactly how college students, or at least the ones I know, live. There are a lot of people who can relate to her.

Many people also say that the MC is wasting her potential and her magic, but I think it’s set up pretty early that she doesn’t know how to do magic? Idk it’s been a while since I’ve read the first few chapters. Also the MC is trying to stay away from magic and trouble and live a peaceful live. She is definitely not the proactive sort of character, and she definitely wouldn’t spend extra effort on something. I get why people might be frustrated but she’s set up as a lazy character. <<less

I really like the story so far. Its quite refreshing and a bit hilarious with the way the MC and ML interact with each other. And that somehow turned to cuteness overload everytime the baby got involved.

At first I though the pace if the story is a bit slow, but now that I see how much the chapter it had originally, its actually steady. The well written translation is too supporting the already enjoyable novel, the further you read it.

I'm anticipating the next update already~

A lot of people hating on FL being lazy to the point of being unrealistic. Well, guys that sh*t is real outside of novels.

I, myselff, is like that. I live with my family thats why im still not dead. If I live alone I will most like eat once a day or skip eating because im too lazy to cook. Id rather sleep than eat. And I only know how to cook noodles and hotdog/egg. Unhealthy foods. So unmotivated to live. I mean what's the point of living?

The author should... more>> have elaborated the FL's mental illness instead of making it as comedic plot so that the readers will understand why her personality is like that.

Im still reading, I hope there will be character growth for FL.

And I totally understand her resistance to the baby dragon. I mean taking care of herself is such a chore. How can she still have the will to take care of a baby? And she believes that the dragon belongs to the orig!novel FL that's why FL wants to return it. <<less

The only thing that disappoints me is that the chapters are too short. I freaking need more.

As for the characters, I like the tsundere investigator. If he was real, I'll do anything just to hire him as my personal butler.

I also love the chibi dragon. Having a child never crossed my mind but if my child would look like him, I'll hire a surrogate mother ASAP.

Many doesn't like the female lead because she's very lazy and she even drove Mu five times but who wouldn't do that if that child... more>> was supposed to be your executioner, right? I'll hide at the end of the world just to avoid him but she was not so coldhearted to the point where she would abandon him with nothing at hand. She provided him with milk and blanket even though she knew that that cute child is not a weak and feeble 'human' child.

As for her laziness, who wouldn't want to do that? She spent more than half of her life in school and the remaining was spent in her workplace. Working overtime, loosing sleep, dealing with annoying people everyday... who, in their right mind would want to experience all of that in another world. If I happened to possess the body of Eleonora, I would have done worse than Noah.

I'll spend my day by lazing around my bed, eat foods that were cooked by others because cooking is really time consuming and more than that cleaning up is very taxing. I'll probably hire someone to do things for me... well, that's her only mistake, of she's too lazy, she should have hired someone to do things for her. if she didn't want to mingle with other people, she should have study lifestyle magic to ease out her life, with one lift of her finger, the place would become clean and food would be ready at her table, easy right.

As for her hair color and whole appearance, she should have used make ups or wigs or even magic to change her face completely, that way, no one would ever recognize her.

Well, overall, the story is good. Hope to see more laziness scenes in the story <<less
