Yu Sui and Shi Luo met each other when they were much younger. One was a pro-gamer, a widely-renowned, best of the best, in-game medic. The other was an e-sports newcomer who was just starting out. The two originally played for the same team, during which their relationship became increasingly deep.

But things did not go as expected. Yu Sui went to Europe and Shi Luo changed his in-game job to become a striker. The two belonged to different teams and different divisions, with oceans between them, each doing wonderfully …

They had become two tigers on separate mountains. The last thing anyone expected was for Yu Sui to return to the domestic league two years later. There was no way to avoid it and the two met once again.

My. Heart. 😭😭😭❤️❤️❤️❤️ I have put off reading this for the longest time. Mostly because I was thinking it wouldn't be my cup of tea despite being so highly rated.

But I hit quite a dry spell and decided to check things out and promised myself if I didn't like the first 10 chapters I would drop it.

AND THEN I GOT COMPLETELY HOOKED

... more>> Trust the ratings, guys. The way their past is unraveled, and how things lead up to the present was so good.

So many heart-achey moments. So much sweet times. If only we had explicit smut lol MC's the type I would just love to f*ck into oblivion. So many times it had me laughing or screeching like an actual fan girl <<less

Oh boy. I can't remember the last time I cried so much reading a book. Maybe it's because of the MC's backstory. There are parts that simply resonate with me. His emotional scars very much affect the way he reacts to kindness, and that makes me very sad.

Lots of angst, lots of fluff, lots of vengeance, and lots of satisfaction.

I loved this novel so much that I'm not ready to move on. Thank you, author, for this amazing work. Every tear was worth it, and I assure you there was a lot of crying on my part.

Such a beautiful love story deserves more recognition. I got flashbacks of "I can do it" (another wonderful story), especially with the MC's attitude, but at the same time, Evil wasn't like any other character I have ever read. Flawed characters are my kryptonite, and Evil is a cunning, bad-mouthed, and jealous bastard,... more>> with a heart of gold, a sad past, and too many insecurities to count. I fell in love with him pretty quickly, to be honest. His petty behaviors were endearing in my eyes 🥺.

The romance was the main focus of the book but the gaming competitions were still exciting to read.

The relationship between Evil and Whisper broke my standards. GREEN FLAGS EVERYWHERE! THEY ARE PURE RELATIONSHIP #GOALS 😭. It is so good to read about healthy and achievable relationships. I'm glad I came across this book. I totally recommend this!! <<less

really cute! I have to say, I don't like esports that much so I thought I wouldn't like this. The first 30 something plus chapters were also ehhh to go through, I really wasn't feeling it. But after that, it became not interesting, I love their relationship and how they take care of each other. It's really a sight to read! Love it!

Dropped it at chapter 50. Idk, I'm not very convinced by the reason for the MC and the ML's separation so while the other readers were crying when it was revealed, I was just baffled with how so illogical it is.

The game also doesn't make sense. Granted I don't play that much but the game seems to simple?? You can only play the medic role either as a milk tank or as an assassin? Shouldn't there be more variety on the ways it can be played, to the point that... more>> it's played internationally??? Or maybe it's just because of my lack of knowledge of PC games but the game FOG just doesn't make sense to me and idk why it's such a popular one in the setting of the novel. <<less

Generally a feel good novel with light angst & misunderstandings in the first half which happily switched to smooth sailing face slapping in the second half.

Classified almost favourite because I feel that the other e-sports novels (I can do it, PUBG romance of the century) had me more invested in the game and their relationship and had more unpredictable ups and downs.

I really liked how the MC was able to perceive the underlying reasons why certain people behaved and did certain things and wasn't just a naive fool. However, this... more>> aspect of him didn't shine through as much in the second half (I guess with main things resolved & happy there was less need to anyway).

I think my main gripe was with the MCs backstory being the typical sob story of abandonment which became the crux of the MC's childishness — for some reason, I was just not really invested in it, which affected a bit how I felt about the MC (whiny vs endearing). I think I just have a personal preference for the misunderstanding to be more dog blood and require the ML to chase after the MC, hehe. <<less

This is one of my absolute favorites!! The pacing, romance, tension, and sweetness were all perfection.

I especially loved the way the author didn't reveal everything upfront. In addition to not knowing how they felt about each other now, you had to wait for the mystery of their past interactions to be revealed. Are they really angry? Was there really betrayal? How much does the other one know? Ahhh so good.

Also, it was my first esports novel - and has catapulted BL esports novels into a niche but strong favorite genre... more>> for me. <<less

I love this so much. I've teared up multiple times in the course of reading this story and now I'm mad that there isn't more. There's so much I want to know more about like more of their daily life, the future, how they live life together after coming out publicly. I love both the MC and ML so much. There is some angst but after getting through Glory and full on sobbing every other chapter for that story I'm mentally impenetrable. Love each of the members in the team... more>> and their manager and staff, love that they stuck together through everything, hate that old captain of theirs with a passion... Absolutely a new favorite. The MC and ML are so adorable together. <<less

I had mixed feelings about this gaming novel at first because the gaming aspect was too simple (or simplified) and there was too much incomprehensible angst at the beginning. The romance is beautiful, very sweet, warm and passionate but the game mechanics was too simplistic. I don't know if it's based on a real game or not but after completing the novel, I still have no idea what this game is about. It is difficult for me to imagine that our ML is the only successful attack-healer hybrid, or that... more>> a team was the only one that came up with such and such complex strategy. The gaming aspect does not compare to other esports danmei but the romance is absolutely adorable!

I loved the interactions between the 2 after they 'reconciled'. I especially liked it when MC acts spoiled and ML is totally fine with all his little schemes, his possessive personality and dark thoughts. I also loved all the gentle and heartfelt moments between the 2 protags, as they learn to navigate their emotions and also deal, at their own pace, with any angst from the past. I like all the little details of their relationship, their non-verbal understanding of each other, little things that has no meaning plotwise but with great meaning to me... this is why I am a fan of slice-of-life genre and fluff. The first 20 chapters were no fun for me, too much melodrama for e.g the alcohol bet, the forced exams, Ji Yanhan's drama and so on. But after they reconciled, it's all fluff and candy till the end. <<less

Pretty good though I'm stopping here as I think they've already resolved the major misunderstandings. I feel that the MC had a big personality switch, I much preferred him in the beginning being all angsty and depressed haha. Not a big fan of tsundere MCs. I must admit that the way the author wrote MC and ML's issues was fantastic. Everything just fit and everything had a reason. Couldn't find plotholes at first glance. It would've been better if their reconciliation was more of a subplot/slow progress, so I had... more>> more motivation to read the plot. <<less

Man Man He Qi Duo you slag author! I swear I'll follow you forever, no matter what genre you write in! You never disappoint!!

I'm not interested in e-sports settings, I'm a bookworm not a gamer, but I wanted to read something else from the author of Those Years In Quest of Honor Mine, to see if this novel is a fluke or if the author is just THAT brilliant. And my god! I'm so glad I closed my eyes and jumped into this hell, because it's f*cking amazing!

The characterization is... more>> top-notch again, the balance between angst and fluff, comedy and drama is top-notch again, the writing style is compelling and hypnotizingly beautiful AGAIN. My god, I think I'm in love with this author. <<less

This... I F* LOVE IT HUHU. I literally felt the heart-pounding, blushing, exciting moments! This was so so good. The plot was really good too. Tragic, comedy, BL, sports, teamwork. Literally, everything I want is here! Despite only having 135 chaps, I still got very attached to the characters! I also liked the placement of flashbacks, they are continous and doesnt make it harder for us to understand the story and even makes us feel more about the characters cause u can compare the past and present. I love this... more>> so much I swear. I get to feel the feeling of love again, infatuation, butterflies in stomach, can't I have someone like either yu sui or shi luo? Im not really choosy, either is fine HAHAHAHA

‼ just a warning tho, the gaming part is not much explained? but idk if FOG is a real game but I still understood how it is played but there are only a few games that were explained, mostly the conclusions are just given like who won and all, so if u came here for the gaming elements, well, here's a warning that there are more BL moments than gaming here so u won't waste time and rate this low hihi

Spoiler

Yu sui this bch is literally younger than me HAHAHAH he was so wronged here and I am really just glad that shi luo is there beside him in our behalf to get distressed for him. He deserve so much, he deserve that flawless win, he deserve the free team, the free team members, and he definitely deserve shi luos love, and to think that he has really liked him even before they became teammate in FS. I like how Yi sui told stories about that time and I also very much like what I read about it huhu, I honestly want more. Ps its so funny how they always say 'that bastard ji yanhan' lol, like its the full name. Anw that bastard is so despicable, no pity for him whatsoever. Yu sui, I also dont know why but the title Slag man Yu perfectly fits him? HAHAHA we all know he's soft and gentle and caring but the slag man yu title still seems perfect for him? Hahahah He is really good and talented in FOG, there really weren't much technical terms or events in the novel but I'm perfectly fine with it. I love how they expanded only those that are important and also just the right length? Just, I really hope you stay happy Yu Sui. You always made my heart pound together with luo luo hahaha that ending huhu so good.

Shi luo, ugh. I totally had prejudice with him when I knew he had white hair, I thought he'd be cold and quiet af so it took me quite a while to change my image of him when I realized his a freaking cutie tsundere shy irritable cinnamon roll hahahah he's so smart and is actually good with words. I really cried when Yu Sui was leaving him and he wants to go with him. I love him so much esp when he did that there are 10 glasses, only 1 is lemon tea while 9 are vodka when in reality they are all lemon tea huhuhu he, , he also likes yu sui so much at that time and he didn't even know it was that kind of relationship he wante, he is srsly so freaking cute, I love him very much too. The end huhuh so nice, his chidhood just really took a toll on him ttho. He deserve yu sui cause honeslty I think he's the only one capabke o making yu sui like that hahaha I like his small schemeing and how he admits it. Sighh he's so cute. The side account! Omg so embarassinv hahahah but his posts are really not that bad like what yu sui said, it was still restrained

Team free with manager zhou huo, coach old qiao, striker chen huo, sniper puppy, striker shi luo, medic yu sui. So good! I like how I get to know all of them and got attached to the whole team not just our couple, they had their own personalities.

Lol with how they won against sacred sword HAHAHAHAHA straight 3 in BO5 game HAHAHAHA they got face slapped hard, hihi with the account deleting. Inlove this!

reread? Hmmmmm if I forgot it, cause this really made me feel things. Totally recommended tho!! <<less

I regret reading this.

I finished it all in one go and I regret reading such a good e-sports and already finished it in 2 days. Don't know what to do with myself. This is gonna be in my one of my personal favorites. There may be a lot of holes and imperfections but this novel speaks to me and almost brought me to tears. This wasn't the light novel I was expecting and pleasantly surprised. Though I have a lot unfulfilled expectations for the novel cause it was too short,... more>> this wasn't meant to be just a 132 chapters novel, its at least 200. Thank you for the kind translators as well for the speedy work, though there are some mispells, I didn't get confused with the content of the novel so Thank you very much.

OK read only here for my spoiler free review and go finish the novel.

So for my rose coloured review:

I just finished reading it in the middle of the night and everything is still fresh and I couldn't wait to write a review and maybe regret not proofreading this.

I was not expecting this to be such a perfect read cause I've read a lot of e-sports/gaming bl novels, and you kind of expect the flow of the story but this novel hits you emotionally from the start. It was all tense in the beginning, I already have my guard up and knew that this novel was not an easy read.

Characters: Both MC and ML are fully developed with back stories but its just told in the 3rd pov (though would've liked to have explored it deeper, cause I was waiting for it.) The growth and consistency is very nice, and the side characters are pretty cute and I was emotionally invested in them. I love love that the antagonist wasn't the typical gaming trope character, cause sometimes a lil bit of xenophobia and racism gets in some novels but not in this one, it wasn't a out of the blue vendetta of the antagonist.

Plot: the plot stayed true so that was a plus, it was refreshing to see not a lot of that gaming plot tropes you would expect, sometimes I am searching for that cheesy trope but I feel that it has to match the tone set up by the novel (author) from the start, and FOG was not that. The back and forth of the back story is also lovely cause it wasn't my first time reading this kind of way of writing, but I would imagine if you're a weekly reader this might have been torture, so hooray for binge reading!
Spoiler

I love how the ending was written though, the main event wasn't the Finals Competition or the Quarter Finals, its such a refreshing take.

I CRAVE THE CONSEQUENCES OF OUR ACTIONS IN THE PLOT. This novel didn't fulfill that craving cause I think the author wanted the reader to relax after a difficult initial chapters but it didn't make me dislike it less, cause this novel was interesting and made me lost in the world. Also a plus is that THERE ISN'T ANY MISUNDERSTANDING BETWEEN THE PAIRS. The novel also has sprinkles of comedy, with the friend chats and the public forums, made me second-hand embarrassed and laugh at the same time.

Seriously made me want to experience first love again. Like whaaaaat? Realized late that I'm attracted to pairings with tragic plots, they
Spoiler

know that they love each other, its just the time wasn't right

[collapse]

I regret reading this cause I didn't want to be so invested yet in a great novel, my current place right now is too unstable, I needed a quick in and out novel to keep me occupied for a minute, but sadly (not that sad) I'm still thinking of what could've been even if the novel is over. <<less

This is the novel that got me into the E-sports sub-genre. I am not trying to write an objective review so I’m just gonna go ahead and say that the novel hits you in the feels.

The MC and the ML are devoted to each other and for once try their attempts at communication once they agree to be in a relationship. If you’re looking for an emotionally charged with a dozen sprinkle of fluff and hearts read then FOG is the novel for you.

The characterization in the novel is also... more>> consistent. There are indeed some flaws in the plot; I would have loved to see the author patch things up with the conflict between the MC’s family but alas the author put it aside and just left it hanging. But all in all the novel was an enjoyable read and I did not find some jarring plot holes or plot jumps.

FOG is a worthwhile read for me and it brings out a lot of heart which is what I alway look for. <<less

It was really hell for me to read it from chapter 1-30 and I almost drop it a few times. But from chapter 31 is when I start to getting into it.

I really like dog food in this novel but it's few and I want more... It's like 5 stars. Maybe I got used to dog food from other novel. (Glory)

This is not a spoiler but I thought before I get to chapter 30.
Spoiler

MC is supposed to be "smart" and yet he act like a little kid. I know that his past is tragic but damn...

ML is really carrying for MC but can he act more openly? The plots against MC annoy the hell out of me.

From chapter 26-30 almost pop my vains, It was a bad idé to read it when my blood sugar are low.

I'm keep putting this novel off because of the reviews and now I understand why the reviews fluctuate.

Yu Sui.... where can I find one!!!! He is so caring, considerate and just such an amazing boyfriend and I need one....*fangirl moment over*.

Overall the character development was really powerful and well done as all the pain and suffering helped make them the people they are now. I am proud to admit I cried... too many times through the heart wrenching moments.

Thank you CG for picking up this translation and doing such an amazing job!!!!

I like the story, but I can't recommend this novel if you read it for the game part. I really didn't like the game part, they're sitting in front of computers playing a game, but it is not described like a computer game but more like a virtual reality game. Furthermore, I'm 50 chapters in and still don't understand how the game works, with that little that was explained till now, it makes no sense to me, this ruins the immersion.

*There is a fog that is poisonous for your team... more>> on the other (enemy) half of the map

*The fog on your side of the map is not visible to you.

*You have to clear the enemies fog with purification dishes to reach their resurrection stone and destroy it to win the game

Just based on these things, there is a lot wrong with this game. And till now it was never explained how thick the fog is how or what the map looks like, there is only talk about bunkers or shrub that someone is hiding behind and how someone hears someone else stepping and shoots them, I don't even understand what the snipers are for.

Edit: I read a bit further and imo FOG doesn't deserve its rating of 4, 6 when compared to "I Can Do It" and "PUBG Online Romance of the Century". <<less

Wow, I just have to write a review for this. First of all, big thanks to the translator for their efforts! Very much appreciated <3

This was my first e-sports novel. I found the balance between the insights into the industry, explanations of the game rules & strategies and the politics & PR around it well balanced with the romance and the character/couple development. Even as a newbie, I understood what was what and the gaming world became a very wholesome experience for me.

What to expect? As many others said -... more>> it starts with angst. Than it moves to pure sorrow... my very soul hurt when reading some chapters. Then it's angsty again... only to drown you in sweetness later on! After that, we have some sports drama coming up - there always has to be that one scumbag team acting up!

It is precisely because of all the angst and suffering that our MC & ML went through at the beginning that made me deeply appreciate all the fluffy moments later - I literally wanted to drown the MC & ML in fluff, feeling that nobody deserves gentleness & love more than they do. At first, I did not particularly like ML - we got to see Whisper from Evil's perspective, and there had been A LOT of unsaid things between them at first. Evil, the MC, at times acted like a kid; I just wanted to slap him in the face. But later, when things got explained, I as a reader understood why he had to act the way he did. Both of them, really... they were both hurting so badly. If you have doubts about them at first due to all the tension and angst at the beginning, please don't drop this story. Just carry on reading - you won't miss your portion of sweet dog food later on. It's been a long time since I've seen a character as cool, intense yet cute and believable at the same time as our MC, Evil.

The only complaint I had was that at the end, it almost felt like the author lost the interest in the story. The World Championship ending felt rushed. The MC & ML's ending was really nice though. Still, I would not have minded another few extras about how they get on in life after a year or five or ten after that. But yeah, that might be because I'm a sucker for stories, where the MC & ML get together at the very beginning and face all the challenges together as a proper couple recognized by all.

All in all, one of the most wholesome stories I've read so far. The path from the start to finish felt extremely satisfying. <<less
