It was in the year 2800 of the Midgard calendar. Back then, there was a Overlord who once reigned supreme and had reached the very brink of subduing the world.

Her name was Ruphas Mafahl, a great woman dreaded as the Black-Winged Overlord.

She was too strong, too fast, and too beautiful…

However, she was defeated by Heroes who opposed her ferocity, and her ambition was brought to an end.

――or so went the story of our protagonist’s in-game character, whose body he now possesses for some reason in a world 200 years after Ruphas’ downfall. Follow our protagonist as he becomes unnecessarily feared by his surroundings and unnecessarily worshiped by his former subordinates as he―or now she―cheerfully travels around this fantasy world.

if you expect this thing as a last boss kind of character that is OP that she can defeat anyone, then look elsewhere, after around ch40ish or something when she fight the current demon lord, shes weak af and it become a hero goes adventure to get stronger to defeat the demon lord kind of template, but this time in reverse.

tl;dr its your typical hero goes adventure to get stronger kind of template in story.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!! Let them finish the manga and novel translation. I wish the manga was officially translated so I could buy it. The market is saturated with isekai but there’s no good way for the west to support a good one we like in hopes of a manga or anime. Anyway, for the actual story it’s another isekai but here the MC is transported into the future of the gameworld. He goes gathering his old allies and meeting in game chars hoping to meet other players but mostly just... more>> finds the characters from the game who know nothing of the player world. I won’t spoil the story but I love the mc’s personality. Noble and approachable. A girl next door with the drive and charisma to be a leader. I like it. Even if she is literally a guy trapped in a man’s body and he’s just fusing with the girl???. I truly wish to support this story. <<less

The sheeprabbit or was it yorai? Translated two chapters of the the webnovel before contacting the author a while back but the author refused to to accept the existance of the translation because of something like it doesnt deserve a translation or something.

Interesting premise. Its like 'she proclaimed herself as the wisemans aprentice, newgate and vampire princess where the MC steps into a eorld of a game and becomes part of history

So far, this has been quite a fun read. I like the MC and the side characters. They all have depth and some development, and it's interesting to see how they act in the situations appearing as the novel progresses. The first several chapters establish the setting of the world and help introduce the MC into the changes he/she is experiencing. The action kicks off before long, and it's great to see the MC back to kicking butt.

After conquering much of the world before, "heroes" arose and sealed her away.... more>> She is released 200 years later, and it's interesting to see how the drama and motivations played out for those who betrayed her and how her actions will warp the world once again. <<less

It is honestly pretty boring during the first 40 chapters, but it gets a lot better after that... until chapter 120 where everything starts to get downhill until chapter 150, where things starts to get good again.

The first 40 chapters are incredibly boring due to all the generic isekai blah blah and lack of anything that motivates you to read this novel. The side characters aren't really interesting, the MC aren't interesting, the world building aren't interesting, and the plot are even slightly forced.

Despite that, everything changed when the characters... more>> started to build up. The characters are boring when alone, but even they can generate some comedy due to their quirky character interactions. The world building started to get better, the real plot started to emerge. Well, the plot is still slightly forced in certain places.

And you reach chapter 100, which I will put in the spoilers down below:

Spoiler

The Benet and Leon arc is honestly the best. Many characters got developed, particularly Aries. The fight with Benetnash and the ending is quite emotion, and the fight scenes themselves are pretty impressive.

[collapse]

Then you get to chapter 120, which is the start of the garage arc chain:

Spoiler

Chapter 120 is the end of Benet and Leon arc, and the start of Pollux arc, which is an absolute disaster.

The plots became more forced than before, I can tolerate a bit of forced plot, but this amount of forced plot is honestly repelling.

Firstly, there's that tr*sh villain that is just evil for no reason. The newbie hero and his party confronted him, got beat up, and got saved by Ruphas. This villain is only used to make the hero realize what sudden strength gain does to a person, but there is so much better ways to carry out this development yet the author decided to use such a generic and annoying villain to do this. I don't even know why this useless event took up even 5 chapters. This should just be a side story.

Plot holes emerged one after another. Benetnash's interference into Ruphas vs the 4 heroes are garbage. The author ignored the whole "vampire got debuted under the sun" setting to make Benet absolutely dominate the heroes. Of course, it can be said that Benet is just that powerful, however, there isn't even a mention of the debuff.

The author decides to make Ruphas weak to the 4 heroes, because she cherishes them. That, I can accept. But then the author made Ruphas almost die to make Benet save her, which is honestly bs. Ruphas is literally a level 1500, the same level as Benet. Of course, when Ruphas and Benet fought, Benet is under the full moon. But even then, Ruphas literally almost lost again a level 1000 dragon lord and Alioth, which is complete bs. Even if Ruphas cannot attack the 7 heroes, she should still be able to avoid their attacks. Ruphas is obviously the strongest amongst the level 1000s even if she is the same level as them, but now she is level 1500 but she still lost against a level 1000 dragon lord and Alioth. Which is incredibly forced.

The scene with Aries too, why is Aries fighting 1v1 with the beast hero when the 12 star's teamwork was good. Aries is obviously one of the weaker ones of the twelve stars, there is no way that the twelve stars will let him fight 1v1 with the beast hero. It is only made so so that Leon can come save him.

The power balance got completely destroyed in this arc.

[collapse]

Now then, let's move on to the next arc, which is also garbage:

Spoiler

The "retrieving the rest of the 12 stars arc", as I will name it, is also garbage, but not as bad as the Pollux arc. The forced arc is honestly insane. The sun Luminary, Sol, appeared, and he destroyed the power balance.

Sol can beat Leon, but then got destroyed by Terra, Pollux, Parthenos, Castor, and Virgo, which is complete bs.

There is absolutely no reason for Sol to run away when Pollux used the Argonautai. He can beat Leon, and Leon can 1v5 the 12 stars. Even if Leon will lose in the end, he can still put up a good fight against the 12 stars. And the 12 stars can destroy the Argonauts. Which means Sol with the goddess' power-up will also be able to destroy the Argonauts.

You can say that Parthenos is using her buffs to buff the Argonauts, but Sol is also buffing himself with his own skills. Which means there is absolutely no reason for him to run away.

And the author also thrown away Parthenos, who is only used to level up Virgo, and Virgo isn't even an interesting character. Which wasted Parthenos' character. Besides, after Virgo got powered up, she only got like 3 more sentences in the actual fight before the fight ended, and it's not even her who ended the fight.

I also don't care about the demon prince and his gf. His ideals on the demons are completely twisted but the author still tried to forcefully justify him.

[collapse]

After those horrible arcs, there finally comes a better arc:

Spoiler

The "return to Earth" arc. It is honestly pretty good and managed to tie together Dina's character and solved a lot of the mysteries. A lot of things are revealed and a lot of things makes sense now.

Libra's reveal as a traitor is also done pretty well. If you look back on how she's been acting, you will realize that she's really been acting suspiciously.

The part I don't like is the "Libra's escape" part. When Libra escaped by crushing the ceiling, there are a lot of heroic spirits around her, so some of them can obviously go after Libra. But the author forced in that "Pollux is weak and needs to be protected from the falling ceiling" stuff, it honestly doesn't make sense. There are a lot of heroic spirits around them, so Pollux can obviously have some of them protect her and have some of them chase after Libra. The author is seriously forcing too much.

The author also managed to completely destroy Virgo's character. The author forced Virgo to try to heal her enemy for absolutely no reason. Like, she just watched the fight finish right in front of her, and the enemy is quite a dangerous existence. But the author wants to make her kind and naive so he made her try and heal her enemy. Instead, it just came out as s*upid and obstinate to us. Virgo got such a power up from Parthenos, just for her to not get any screen time at all and have her character ruined. An extreme waste of Parthenos' character.

[collapse]

Then there's the next arc, which is a little worse than the previous arc:

Spoiler

The "Ruphas vs Orm arc". This arc managed to completely destroy Orm's character.

He changed from an arrogant but caring father to a "I regret killing so many people" character. Which destroyed his one unique point that distinguishes himself from other characters.

Also, the Orm regrets sending Mercurius to his death, but, the thing is, there is absolutely no reason for him to send Mercurius to his death. When Mercurius asked Orm to use to Key to Heaven for Luna, he can just reject him by saying "this will be wasted on you". The author literally created this to make Orm regret doing something for absolutely no reason.

[collapse]

The author also said that Ruphas and the original Ruphas' personalities are fusing together, but I can't even see the difference. Ruphas only said "Oh, if it's the me from before, I won't do this and that." But there is no difference to how she acted before and now.

A lot of the explanation also got repetitive, it is fine if you repeat it like once every 20 or 30 chapters. But we don't need a "The Twelve Stars are very strong" every single chapter where the twelve stars battle someone. That is completely useless as you just repeated the same thing 1 or 2 chapters ago. For example, in the 7th paragraph of chapter 188, there's this phrase that reads "According to a survey, this was true for ninety-five percent of them. If there were one hundred men, ninety-five of them would have played this strange game at least once before." Well, no sh*t. We all know what 95% means 95 out of a hundred. But, the example I have given is merely a mild occurrence of this syndrome. The author likes to repeat paragraphs of useless informations that means the same as his previously written one, and he even repeats them in the same d*mn chapter.

Finally, the final arc:

Spoiler

Well, after the continued, undisrupted flow of bad arcs, I thought we are at least gonna get a good ending arc.

The fights got blown out of proportion, nothing makes any sense. And the author kept on adding in uselessly long analogies and repeated information because he thinks his readers are mentally crippled and can't think that disrupts the flow of the battle.

[collapse]

And also, I have absolutely no idea why Virgo exists. She gets no screen time, is dumb, and is easily replaceable. She's just there in the hero's party, but there is no reason for her to be there. Of course, you probably won't understand why I say this until you read past chapter 140. Or you can just read the contents I put in the spoiler tags above.

The starting and middle chapters are alright, but in the end, it felt like the author just stopped trying. A lot of the contents is just there to fill up the word count, and are practically useless beyond that. For some reason, the author started putting more efforts into writing the post-chapter author notes, because they are the only entertaining part of this novel at the end.

There is really no reason to read this novel past chapter 120, the end of that arc can be wrapped up as an improvised ending. But if you want to read past chapter 120, you should read at your own discretion. <<less

Honestly, it's a 7/10 or 7.5/10

Early on, there are a lot of questions regarding everything that the author kept teasing the readers. It was pretty enjoyable to read through the first half of the story as well. However, once everything starts getting unveiled in the final 4 or 5 arcs, the explanations to all of the questions are a bit meh. It feels like that they're way too forced by the author just to bend the plot in a way that the readers didn't predict. During the early half, you'll... more>> either be hooked by the mysteries or be repulsed by them. Don't continue reading if you don't like them, otherwise you'll find the series unbearable to completely read through. And especially during the final 2 arcs, things got so insane and the scale went up to mind-numbing levels that you probably won't even understand anything. I was still able to understand what was happening during the 2nd last and the first half of the final arc, but I then completely lost track of what was happening snd ended up just fast forwarding the final fight. It seems like the author didn't plan out the story from start to finish that well.

Tl;dr: the first 50% are really good if you like the mysterious elements, then the 30% after that is decent then the 10% after that is meh then the final 10% is wtf

Bonus: the afterstories are unexpectedly good, I had a really good laugh reading through them. If you manage to read through the entire main story, then you should definitely read them as well. You won't regret it. <<less

This is one of the very few good examples of this odd creature we call "Isekai", and I am surprised it's not more popular over here.

This is something of an action-comedy (courtesy of the cast) surrounding a little bit mystery; however, since it is a bit old, some plot twists and points haven't aged all that well.

The cast is diverse and full of quirky, hammy, hilarious and cool characters in good measure: Ruphas, Dina, Orm, Sei (probably my favorite character), Benet, etc. The characters are about 50% of the story's... more>> quality and enough reason to love it. There's something there for everyone.

I admit, tough, that I probably wouldn't give it a perfect rating if we had more stars in first place. It's something like 8.5/10 <<less

So, I first started this awhile back with the manga, around when only two chapters had been translated and after re-reading it and binging the entire translation here up the current chapters, I can honestly say I absolutely love this series. The mysteries and character's internal dialogue are incredible, the overall story is fantastic, and I can't say I don't regret reading it. In all honesty, my only regrets consist of two things: the lack current point of the manga and the overall length. It'd be incredible if this was... more>> longer, but that's a minor complaint. <<less

Do you like Overlord?

Do you like Reincarnated as a Slime?

If so, this story is for you. I just read it from chapter 1 to chapter 49 in one sitting. It's like reading a professionally translated Light Novel. Premise is nothing original but the focus of the story is great. Excellent worldbuilding and exploration and hints of spicier plots being dropped occasionally. Though I've just picked this up recently, translation seems to have consistent updates so that's always a benefit.

Finally able to read some chapters! I quite like this novel, although it looks like it will be one of those novels that is updated maybe once a month. It has rather likable characters, and the plot is alright. So far the only thing that bugs me is the MC is another cheat, who just so happens to not care enough about entering a game world as his online character who is the opposite gender of him. Otherwise good job so far and I look forward to the future chapters.

This is probably my favourite WN of all time. It's right up there along with Tensura.
This is the story that really made me take the plunge and start reading WNs in RAW. If not for Yasei no Last Boss ga Arawareta! I would not be able to read japanese.

The premise is an interesting one. Boy is transported into the workd of his favourite MMORPG, as his main character that happens to be female. There he tries to figure out whats happening and gathers his companions (really his pets/followers in... more>> the game) that are scattered, while trying to find other players like himself.

It may seem like a typical directionless isekai at first, but it has a well grounded and established plot that develops nicely, with good pacing. Most importantly, it is really really funny and entertaining to read. <<less

A very unique isekai. Unique support/side characters. Overwhelming characters background and the history of the world itself. It's a story that started after the word the end showed up for reader.

Since this novel has a very light tone, it is very enjoyable to read in relaxing manner.

Dina is a triple agent working for Lafasu that is still pretending to be an avatar for the goddess, the male MC in Japan is actually just an avatar of Lafasu (her soul), the game was a creation of Dina as a cover up for the reawakening of the Lafasu's soul to hide the plot of her revival from the goddess

One other novel that is similar to this would be the novel about a demon lord so old (and powerful) that no one remembers him and treats him as a nobody. https://www. novelupdates. com/series/the-lazy-king/

This novel is nice and sweet with the same amount of intrigue and plot twists but with the 200 chapters of fluff and convolution. <<less

Hmm, I thought it was good... and yet the MC suffered from Japaneseness... he's trying to fix everything, kind to everything...

I just can't understand, are all Japanese acts kindly like this irl, that every isekai author loved to portray Japanese person as Jesus. Smh

MC has no sense of cautiousness... like... he understands that he's in a world of sword and magic, a world torn by war with demon and internal strife, yet he acts like a tourist doing sightseeing without any sense of urgency or discomfort, knowing... more>> he actually knows nothing about himself and his surrounding.

Well, those aside, the story seems proper, just remove that 'Kind Japanese' trait and it will be better imo.

Actually with his level of power anyone can forcefully fix things from above, and yet he acted like a f*cking mob that pretends to be smart while he isn't, pretended that he's 'strategising' things while it's just logical thinking. <<less

Just came to rate this. The twist is not some grandiose mund bending convuleted mess that are CLAMP works but rather straightforward. Loved this and the after story even better. The ending satisfactory with no loose storylines. Wish the author had given a commited relationship instead of "they are room mates" but ig it's close enough. This web novel gave me the feel of rather not serious and slightly comedic. At some moments it wants to show serious side of the story but keep falling short because the novel wasn't written in that way. There's always some unnecessary inserts that just put off the built up atmosphere. Especially the chapter titles. Then again, you can see from the novel title itself and its a pokemon reference. So many pokemon references littering all over this novel. In short it fails to give any serious atmosphere to a... more>> story, the MC having omnipotent power isn't helping it in any way at all too. And of course the usual, Japan was the MC former world.

The power level kinda absurd tbh. It was still fine at first everything was as you expect from an op isekai, but to suddenly having the power to destroy a planet with ease, speed at least 100, 000 mach per hour or 124, 800, 000 km/hour, punching a hundred millions times in a second, and that was done while not even being serious? I'm a fan of One Punch Man but this was just done so badly. The omnipotent MC always appear in almost late timing too despite being able to do everything in an instant. This is by far the biggest power level I've come across while reading web novel. Oh, while I maybe able to find other novels that say, able to fight at the speed of light but it's power level isn't on the level of planetary beings anymore. Heck I don't even understand why the story of this novel was made like this with such op MC. The MC was just a normal worker? At least he can think right? His mind works and even has the thinking structure of a gamer and is able to fantasize things right? And now he is able to do what he wanted to do and has nothing to stop him and he was in a rather urgent situation too, why would he need to leisurely travel around? Is it really the time for him to do that? With how the mc's mind is working the answer is no. He would at least quickly finish the things he needs to do first. But the author says no, and told the MC to do things roundabout way unnecessarily for unconvincing story sake. The author is limiting the mc's power a bit too much while it unconvincing doesn't necessary and didn't even done appropriately. Then again it was done for the story's sake. You must throw away logical thinking when reading this. Abandon even your fantasy logical thinking and read thoughtlessly. And that's what I did but still got this kind of impression.

I can't understand why this novel can get above 4 stars. There's just so many things out of place and so many holes in the story. I gave 3 stars since at least it's still enjoyable at first. I like the theme of meeting old buddies. The adventure was rather reasonable too. At first. <<less

I tried to like this since the premise wasn't bad, but the characters are incredibly trope-y, MC sometimes acts completely out of character with some contrived justification, and considering the author chose to make it a game world, there are some incredibly retrded mechanics in there that you wouldn't ever see in any popular game, and that pretty much only serve the MC.

this story is very well planned out, and I think there are hardly any plot holes. Even the casual mention of 'earth technology' that does not exist in that world, and simply accepted by some characters, is used as a plot device. (Things that seem like an author mistake or inconsistency are actually not a mistake)

however these hints are so frequent that the plot becomes a little predictable. For example the mc's "plot twist" didn't feel like much of a surprise to me because it was guessed from the... more>> hints and with a little speculation.

the story feels like it has a lot of plot armor, but thinking again, there is only 1 instance. It was just for post battle cleanup though. The story is so well planned and the characters schemed so well it just feels like plot armor.

the second half of the story feels rushed though and uses a lot of narrative to explain things.

the after story's are just goofball story's (think koboyashi's dragon maid goofy) but the author missed a huge opportunity in these stories:

Spoiler

have all the characters visit a cosplay convention as partially transformed monsters, and have the power dynamic (popularity) turn on its head!

overall the story is well thought out but slightly on the predictable side. If you like 'reincarnated as a slime', you will probably also like this one. <<less

I feel like this novel has some pretty great world building and nothing else. Everything (so far) is pretty much just MC exploring the world he/she vaguely recognizes with a bare minimum driving plot and constant interruptions by random explanations for random facts about the world or side perspectives.

A lot of the world explanations feels pretty innovative and interesting in converting common game play aspects into a somewhat functioning world setting but the timing and frequency makes the already slow and aimless plot slow to a grinding halt.

Besides that all... more>> characters feels flat with a single cliche trait each just to barely be able to distinguish them from each other.

I give 3 stars for interesting world setting and a relatively short (and finished!) story. <<less
