Ok so... This one has lots of wasted potentials. The plots, strategies, systems... All of them could have been great, if the author did it right. Unfortunately nope.

The potentially great system was made into s*upidly weird nonsensical skill mechanics like author doesn't actually play games, even though the premise was inside a game. Who the fucc thinks *skill points* are spent to *activate skills* even after you have *bought the skills using the exact same skill points*? And not to mention the stat system. It's garbage. If it's an actual... more>> game you'd see "very negative" review on steam just for this single factor.

The strategies that should have been the highlights, the prima donna of the story, has been butchered to bits and chunks. There aren't nearly enough parts where author could've had explained the plans and tactics, but nope. Author decided to "enemy spotted. Execute plan a. Don't ask questions. Happily ever after." button.

There are multiple POVs. Truly wasted POVs. All other POVs don't even serve any purpose, you can skip them and you won't miss anything. They're not even entertaining, just "Damn you mc" blahblah thing.

3 out of 5 because regardless of those wasted potentials, it still has potentials each TL group gets 1 star, the story deserves 1 star. So 3 stars in total. <<less

Something about the writing rubs me the wrong way.

Its written like hes playing a vr game, the combat is just my stats are 3 better than his and I use attack so my attack overpowers his.

This would have been better as just a vr game novel.

So all the shitty parts would have made sense

(edit c 39) decent plot, bad character writing. I just can't continue to read this anymore. The characters are like npc, oh MC is amazing blah blah. Everyone has only two reactions, either worship MC or belittle him. The MC monologue is like he is doing something revolutionary everytime even on simplest things and he is too much confident on his every actions like the phropet he us.

(edit c21) the author talks like he is bragging about his genius strategy but it only amounts to something that... more>> any logical person can do. His strategies are heavily reliant on his game knowledge which is too convenient for the plot. it is only a few chapters as of yet, I hope the author grew as he write further.

(old review) very nice medieval fantasy novel. I would prefer it if the game mechanics is turned down al little bit more.

my only problem is the characters reaction is a little too convenient for the protagonists actions. It feels so weird that everyone not antagonist just go along with shit. No convincing dialogue or persuasions. <<less

Mediocre at best

Fights aren't interesting since the person with the higher stats auto-wins battles. Characters aren't compelling either and have no goals.

All you're left with is explanations of how he turned the tide each time. There is no substance or intrigue to keep you interested.

Story was good from the start especially the illustration but then the story just became too convenient for him. Well, it is to be expected as he already knew the history of the game but the challenges he was facing in the story was just solved by him without breaking a sweat. In sense that it was just too convenient.

It is a waste tho, I liked the setting and the illustration but for me it can't offset having a bad world building and an intresting storyline.

Spoiler

from the start his character was crooked/tr*sh which was ok. His territory had financial problem but was anticlimactically solved because their familly had immense wealth stored up magically for generations just for him to spend.

There was also a part when they recaptured a castle. His role was important as he was the one to call for reinforcement while opening the gate alone. Then the duke rushed in with his troops. So the credit as mentioned to the king should go to the duke while the duke gives a good word on the MC being a hero/game changer. I mean the duke is higher ranked than him

And also the part when they were on siege defense. They poured molten metal on the battering rams. This was very impossible as you need a large furnace on top of a wall big enough to contain enough molten metal to destroy it. And it would be very very inefficient and a waste of precious materials. They could have dropped burning coal or hot flaming oil.

I don't recommend.

Is a generic story (leaning to bad) that you can pass confortable burn some time if you like some simple war strategy and not think too much, but everything else is servisable to bad, from characters to dialogue to fighting and cheat system.

What is about?

    • Title say everything, is just that the tr*sh lord he got was a random NPC 1 year prior to start of the event of the game and he has a incredible broken cheat aside from lvlup system.
What is good about?

    • Is fast paced, the main goal is clear from the start, little drama, MC personality don't clash with his role (no crybaby that is trusted into being a warlord), some ok war strategy/tatics (that sadly no oponent is able to even try to counter) and political decisions, and alot of battlefields screen time.
What is bad about?

  • Incredible fast battles, wars, dialogues, nothing seen to have proper time to be conveyed.
  • Badly writting character (villains, allies, love interest and even the MC),
  • stiff dialogue and character interactions,
  • no real challenge,
  • broken cheat,
  • really confusing game mechanics,
  • incredible convenient events (for example find that you have 1Billion gold from the start),
  • really bad fighting logic where the system stats and literal "auto-attack button" is fighting for him,
  • no real challenge or threat on the battlefield, be 1 on 1 or in strategy.
  • Manegement and training of his army/territory is not vital and feels like token effort.

I like this one, it's pretty refreshing compared to isekai tensei soudouki and genjitshugi yuusha. A lot of convenient solutions appear but it doesn't seem too obvious when you keep reading as compared to other novels in which the plot is forced. I'm really enjoying this one as there is no harem so far and only one female lead and the MC isn't focused on romance till his goal is accomplished like every beta japanese MC but it's not bad, because he is not overpowered and there are people stronger... more>> than him, so he can't use his gaming abilities liberally.

Yeah this feels like a really good kingdom building novel with nice touch of game elements in how he finds talented individuals to place as his vassals and more than anything this novel is pretty similar to the Korean manhwa/web novel Bug player.

Pretty good so far that I read all the available chapters in one day, I want more chaps if I'm being honest. I am a simple man I read I like I give 5 stars. <<less

It was an interesting read, but I got bored after a while due to not being a big fan of the kingdom/war subgenre. The reason for 4 instead of 5 was a due to some parts in the story seemed to skip a scene, making it hard to follow along and understand. I also wish there was more character development

If you likes Isekai Tensei Sodouki, but without harem, "creative" invention and business, then this novel would be perfect for you.

Having reading this from chapter 1 to chapter 62 in one night, this shows how great this novel is to me..

Some people said MC solved all problem all too easily, and convenient things keep happening around him, but I have to disagree.

Convenient things happened? Yes sure, everyone have their own luck, even our MC. But he's not really all that lucky to be honest, it just that he gambled and... more>> used his few luck to overcome the situation, and this situation, is done by strategies. All these strategies he shown doesn't smell cheap at all either, they require proper, ingenious way of thinking. The way he do things and even his way of thinking befitted of someone who rank 1st on that strategy game he played.

The best thing about this novel, the romance is not forced at all, its so natural and feels real. The relationship of human in this story are also very real, every characters, even minor characters, feels alive. In this story, everyone have their own motives and desire when doing something, they're not just some robot that exist just as fodders to mc's stories.

Of course, there's a bit of plot hole in this story

Spoiler

for example, using a skills that requires target to move above, but he did it without target.

But it was negligible, and rarely done. <<less

I feel like the author played some mobile auto-battle rpg on his phone and decided to use it as the basis of a transmigration story. Basically the MC always wins because he has (x+1) more stat point than the enemy's strength of (x), and because of this there is very little tension. Sure, the source of that x+1 sometime changes but not in any meaningful way because the world is set up in such a way where x > y will always result in x winning.

It's alright; nothing outrageously awful here. Some of the battles and schemes are well thought-out and exciting to read.

Seems like the average kingdom-building WN. The MC starts with a disadvantage in power that he has to make up with his wits until he gets stronger, but only for a slightly stronger foe to appear then. That's how this type of novel works and this does a good job at that.

Sometimes the protagonist is conveniently OP, you know, just strong to beat the enemy commander or boss he's facing at the... more>> moment. Though his OPness has a lot of restrictions and flavor text, they are irrelevant because the author always has a new feature of the system or a new hidden perk that makes the MC a god for a single battle.

There's pretty much zero character development; no meaningful introspection or exploration of their inner world. Clearly not a character driven novel and wouldn't expect it to be like that anyway.

I'd say it's satisfying as a power fantasy where not everything is literally handed out to the protagonist but there's still an impenetrable plot armor that makes him win in the end even though not everything works out as the protagonist first intended.

Also, some chapters are like 200 words long, some are +1k words. Most end abruptly, making it feel like a draft for a future story, so I have doubts about the consistency of the plot and the characters as it goes on. <<less

The story is quite entertaining so far. The way the MC reacts is understandable and relatable (I mean, who wouldn't feel confident and confident when you have precognition in war?). Character development is proceeding nicely and it would take another 30/40 chapters when I can say for sure whether the character development is good or bad.

The underwhelming for this story? The plot is a bit generic for Kingdom Building, but probably because there's a System function. It could change in the future where the System wouldn't play a major role,... more>> but I don't think this will change. The heroine is nowhere to be seen yet, but I think this is good because there's no reason for the heroine to show up yet. I mean, with the womanising reputation, why would she appear now?

In conclusion, read 7 chapter then make up your mind. This story is much more fun to read when you binge reading instead of read one chapter each week. If the translator is reading this, I recommend you turn on Brave publisher so that you can get BAT donations. I don't think people will read this story frequently because of how the story itself build-up (unless you plan to speed up your translation, which looks to be a bad idea since there's only 75 chapters). <<less

I love this, the story is intriguing, the characters feel 3 dimensional, and the world development is great.

However, either there was a mistake that the translators made or the story actually has been completed, but c99 brings no closure to the story and it feels as if it was just dumped and forgotten about.

it's really good, not the best maybe, but enough to be better than most novels out there. Only down side is it's a little bit of a munchkin compared to other strategy novels. But then it's deleted in COO, maybe a remake would be done one day.

This is disappointing

MC was reincarnated because he was the best player on a tactical game. That would make you think "oh, so it's a novel of a smart strategist winning battles" but no, he just go to frontline and kill the strongest enemy (literally his sword do that)

The worst part is that he wins because his combat power is 95 and the opponent is 93 so it doesn't matter fighting experience or tactics

The best strategy of the best strategist of the strongest empire was going himself to frontline and... more>> use some magic to kill MC...........

The author tried to write a smart MC while he isn't. Which is worst he lacks knowledge of history and war so there is nothing interesting here <<less

It's really too bad this was dropped in favor of the light novels. It was very interesting and a game-type that's not super common. If you're a fan of Romance of the Three Kingdoms (the video games) or similar and like video game cheat novels, then I recommend this.

GalaxyTL did the WN rewrite chapters from 1 through 99, though beware that site's intrusive ads. The quality of translation is fairly consistent—though makes the occasional error pretty noticeable.

The biggest drawback is that the first 80-some chapters are all the content that... more>> will come for the story and basically got us to a nice setup to really get into it. (The last 15-20 chapters seem like more of a sidequest with the entirety of it to put another character / obvious future potential romance drama (or harem target if it ends up being a harem)). But the first 80 some chapters are very enjoyable and there are lots of amusing nods to Rot3K games in the setup of the world's system and the MC's interaction with/understanding of the world. <<less

The plot is pretty interesting, but some od the writing feels sporadic. What I mean is that sometimes it feels like sentences or paragraphs are missing. This makes it very hard to really get into it at times as it feels like it's randomly jumping around.

Other reviews seem pretty accurate. The game mechanics detract from the theme of strategy. Characters and setting feel identical to hundreds of other novels. Not bad if you like the kind of novel, but there's no way to complete the story in 99 chapters. So I dropped when I realized that, as I hadn't read the reviews to see the warnings.

It had be a long time when I read LN which MC is decent and intelligent person. And not "intelligent" because author is saying so, but because his actions. For me story is good, but what is great about this story is that all supporting character have own character, story, dreams and don't go with MC because author say so, but because they have good reason. Even after 90 chapters some characters only supporting, but not fallowing MC, because they are still not convinced, and this it is as in... more>> real life, saving someone life don't mean that he would fallow you to end of Earth. <<less
