Imperial Galactic Army Officer Alan Corinth’s ship is seriously damaged after being ambushed by an unknown foe in hyperspace.

Even though it was through sheer coincidence, he became the sole survivor.

The stricken ship fell to the planet below.

Alan alone managed to get to an escape pod.

Alan the Imperial Army Officer wagers his survival in this savage world on the symbiotic nanomachines (nanom) in his body.

The world he landed on was home to a prosperous human civilization, which seemed to have a strangely similar genetic pedigree to himself.

In this puzzling fantasy world of swords and sorcery, Alan will live to the fullest alongside his comrades.

What will Alan achieve in this strange world?

A Science Fiction Fantasy in a Middle Ages setting starts here.

This story is pretty much sci-fi guy in a generic isekai harem setting.

The author is definitely better at writing the SF parts, but they are generally few and far between. The fantasy part is so white bread boring that it makes the story suffer. I was genuinely interested about the story until the MC crashed onto the fantasy planet. From there the story quickly devolved.

This is a cool idea ruined by shounen manga like interactions and an incredible obsession about food (in a scifi world, in the context of a military dude). If I wanted that I'd read a manga.
Nothing more to say, dropped.

Tl;Dr: Garbage.

This novel is a cook book disguised as a sci fi fantasy isekai. Everything is about Japanese food. EVERY BLOODY GOD DAMN THING.

Thrash plot aside, there is nothing explaining how or why the MC is OP and the MC doesnt care simply going along with the world's common sense.

... more>> The character interactions are forced to the point of anil sphincter diarrhea cringe.

Nothing about the MC's own home world is explained only a huge d*ck wave for a new discovered planet called Earth.

Plot. There is none. No plans where it should be glaringly obvious what the MC's plan SHOULD be and not about how to bring Japan to another world.

This is ridiculous. <<less

Star Rating: 2/5
5: This is going on my lifetime favorites
4: Very good read
3: Okay, satisfactory
2: Didn't like it for several reasons
1: Did not finish, do not recommend

Setting: 3/5
- World building is pretty good and there is enough backstory to the universe/galactic war/relevant countries
- Magic is explained well, swordsmanship is kind of half-assed.
- The sense of money in this world is unbalanced and doesn't make sense. Sometimes they talk as if 500 Guineas (the currency) is a lot of money, and then some... more>> random piece of leather armor costs 40, 000 Guineas. The currency doesn't feel like it has weight behind it since the author writes as if the economy isn't balanced.
- Overall, world building is great, magic is great, everything else is not, 3/5.

Main Characters: 2/5
- The two main characters feel very naïve and I have a hard time taking them seriously. All the supporting characters are "yes-men", no major conflicts of interest happen.
- The main character is extremely strong (supposedly smart, good fighter, has extremely overpowered tech for the setting), and doesn't use it to his full potential.
- Overall, I am really disappointed in the characters because they had so much potential, 2/5.

Plot/Pacing: 2/5
- The first few chapters after he lands on the planet are amazing (This is why it's getting a 2 instead of a 1). After that, it takes a nosedive.
- The progression of the story is way too convenient for the main characters. Nothing seems to be of an issue and everything gets resolved without any conflict.
- Half the novel is the author getting derailed to talk about cooking. Do NOT underestimate the "cooking" tag of this novel.
- Overall, there is no sense of urgency because everything somehow conveniently goes in a favorable direction for the main characters, so the plot became unbearable, 2/5.

Overall Writing: 2/5
- The author tries his best to keep continuity, which is great. However, sometimes he mentions things completely out of the blue just to remind the reader of something that matter in a way that breaks the flow of the story.
- Again, I have to iterate that the author does not have any idea of how to write conflict.
- There is so much filler.
- Overall, his writing makes me facepalm multiple times per arc, 2/5.

Enjoyability Factor: 2/5
- There was too much cooking for me. I underestimated the "cooking" tag. <<less

In my opinion this novel is so great!

Of course I admit there's some flaws here that couldn't justified. But overall, this story is my second favorite Novel after That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime.

First of all, imagine yourself as Alan (MC). He lost his fleet, comrades, limited resources, and now has to survived in the world. I'm sure you would doing anything to make yourself better, and in this case, I think Alan's way to do it is by helping the FMC which is had overwhelming problem.

It's started... more>> as adventuring story, which I know it's kinda boring. With his AI equipment, he can easily overpowering every enemies. But this is the starting point of how I like this story so much. He really use his AI support not just for adventuring, but also for making new things to this world. Making a better wine so he can make a good relation with two big companies, making a better building design and mesmerizing the carpenter, making a variety of magic tools and making his own fame.

Alan is purposely gathering fame for him, and his companions. Why? Sorry that would be spoiler. But the way he getting fame is one of satisfying thing to read in my opinion.

His hobby is cooking, yes so it wouldn't come to surprise if there's a more of cooking story since it's his hobby. But after volume 3, it's almost never mentioned again. So bear with it.

Alan is great character in my opinion since he's merciful yet merciless. In volume 5, he's definitely not hesitating to kill the group of assassin who want to kill him. But at the same time, he's generous by giving anything that could help his companions.

His companions are very nice. I think they do that because Alan is the only person who gave a hand to them in desperate situation. His party mainly existing with 1 male and 4 girl, but his clan is mostly by man.

If you expecting an ecchi harem things, stop it. It wouldn't happen in here which is good thing since this is focusing on teamwork to achieve their ultimate goal, not a sl*t who give their bodies cheaply to the MC. It's like, "it just coincidence that the reliable companions are female".

But after those good point, I understand that in some ways this story has a flaw for some people. Among them, I agree with the characters being plain. It looks like they didn't have unique character, so the story only relies on MC. But the story is decent enough so these lack of personalities doesn't really annoy me.

And other thing that bugged me is there's a lot of bandit in this story. It's good thing they're slayed by Alan but it's still unthinkable on how much they are even though in the big city which had a proper security. And author never really explain it. But well, every story has it's own flaws. <<less

This is not supposed to be a story specifically about cooking, and yet entire arcs are dedicated listing how "delicious" a meal is. Enough for it to become their signature line. There are not many varieties of personalities, they approve of the exact same things which is mildly boring after a while. I get it, MC is amazing and whatever he touches is delicious, stop repeating that.

An interesting setting where a scifi soldier is brought into a fantasy world, and he is set up to go on a nation building journey to prepare the world against invasion from a hostile alien force!

.... and I assume that those aliens will be defeated by Italian cuisine, since the vast majority of this work focuses on cooking, and they would "obviously" not waste this setting by going on a long tangent that turns this into a generic "Japanese cookbook" style webnovel. Right?

Removing the sarcasm, this gets a second star... more>> only because the scifi and magic theory parts in between the cooking seems interesting, and there is the prospect that they will eventually leave the cooking arc and actually play with the political intrigue they have been setting up. <<less

In my opinion volume 1 was completely was waste of time, all of it could have been done in max 3 chapter.

All of that different pov to say same content again. And why so much focus on food it seem instead of a navy soldier we get chef. come on you have spaceship, magic, monster.... and wasting word on cooking and eating.

lets not start on idiot MC and all actions that is completely against any basic rule that a space-faring civilizations should have when encounter less advanced civilization.

Read the manga

The manga has better pacing, no filler, less scifi explanations and could actually continue*.

See this novel is one you have to really sink your teeth into. It would only get better 4-500 chapters in. However, this stops after basically the first major arc.

Do read the manga but don't invest in the inferior novel that ends before it gets good.

Started out great and had lots of potential but somehow somewhere it turned into a boring shokugeki novel.

Spoiler

Space guy from advanced civilization crash lands on a planet with magic. He learns that Space bugs that wipe the life out of every planet they come across about to reach this planet in 500 yrs and the MC has to unify and strengthen the planet in that time....

[collapse]

The novel pacing is slow and the half the chapters just describes how amazing MC cooks or how amazing MC fought from like 20 different perspectives.

Spoiler

The MC is OP and there is no sense of tension in the fights so far. He is so OP infact, his harem fights for him and ofcourse he's too dense to realise they have feelings for him.

[collapse]

Still giving it 3 stars in the hope that author might bring back the goodness when the real fighting starts... whenever that might be. <<less
