Wu Han Ying does not know why a bunch of people were following him around shouting sister-in-law.

Xia Chen does not know why he begins to like the existence of this obedient Little Wudang, who is sometimes a bit silly as well.

Being followed and being called Sister-in-law, Little Wudang could not stand it anymore and retorted, “I’m a man.”

Lao Da (Boss) confessed, Sister-in-law (Sao Zi) ran away, so Lao Da is going crazy.

Guild Member 1: Sister-in-law, please come back, Lao Da doesn’t mind that you’re a ladyboy! (ladyboy – a male that plays a female character in game)

Guild Member 2: Pei Pei Pei, ladyboy your ass! Dare to call my sister-in-law as ladyboy, come to Yan Nan* (A place’s name, where players use for PVP)

Guild Members: …

Little Wudang thought to himself, you can’t blame me for disappearing, it’s because the school internet got disconnected.

It's a simply sweet novel with no overt drama. The ending is slightly bland but I still rate it 4 stars for being a good read.

Despises why ever this did not get a yaoi-genre tag! Hmpf!

Though it's absolutely not smutty smut-smut like some other yaoi novels, it is also not some ambiguous flirting and stop.

I'm a lazy reviewer so:

... more>> Very cute, very sweet. Many hilarious moments (don't skip the chat logs! Never!)

I loved the supporting characters as much as the two Protagonists. Especially that dynamic between those friends *when* rotten Ladies ftw! *Cough*

Anyway, a kind of innocent and cute lovestory with about as much detail to the love making as in e.g. A slight smile etc..

That kind of candy cotton, if you get my feel.

Spoiler

Not too much drama or intrigues. HE and ofc loyal CP

THIS IS SO GOOD.

Originally, I don't do reviews or even read a lot of BL novels bc the quality usually isn't healthy or good. This was GOLD. If you are having a hard time deciding if you're going to read this, just don't think too much and dive right in. When I mean dive, I mean f*cking dive right in. It's something fun, sweet and worthy of savoring.

And yes, if I'm sad I'd probably end up binge reading this baby ~ So, yes. #goals

(This made me tear... more>> up a bit bc HE IS MY CHILD. MY CINNAMON ROLL. MY BAAAABY.... AND HE'S GETTING MARRIED TO A MAN WHO WILL LOVE HIIIIIM SO HONESTLY AND THEIR RELATIONSHIP IS HEALTHY AND CONSENSUAL AND UGHHH.) <<less

Bit slow and bland at start, but near the 40-ish chapter, you will get 'eeeeeeeee' feelings of smiles and shipping. Such fluff!

Not too deep into this general genre, so take it lightly, but this is my 2ed fav.

Much gaming lingo. And web game things in general. So not recommended if you hate that. (Translator explains stuff though)

Side characters you will not see deeply into nor remember. Very focused on the main 2.

Quite disappointed. Im already halfway through the novel at ch35 but I dont think the story is building up. There is no progress with the story line; each chapter is about the characters playing the game, its just that. There really is no story at all.

Ive read 'a slight smile is very charming' and I loved it.

This one? Added it to my reading list so that, in the future, ill be able to remember to read it when the translation is done. Well, im still curious on how the main... more>> characters will end up. <<less

Decent story. Quite fluffy, but also quite average.

My main criticism is that it didn't tackle any problems or issues that you would expect it would tackle given their prior relationship.

MC being ML's student. I'd expect at least some form of acknowledgment of power imbalance or some kind of "let's wait until you graduate", or maybe just MC or ML being slightly awkward about it when they find out their real identities, but there was none of it.

[collapse]

My other criticism is the slightly awkward time skips. These happen throughout the novel and are quite rare, but it's mainly for minor things, like the last chapter ended in a cliffhanger of sorts and the next one there's a time skip. Not exactly a negative because the cliffhanger is mentioned not long after and clarified, but I did have to go back once or twice in confusion to make sure I didn't skip a chapter in between.

My problem with this is that this happens in the confession scene. It was quite abrupt. They started dating and the reader didn't get any glimpse to MC's thoughts about it or even his feelings, especially because of their identities! I guess it was a given that he also likes ML, but it felt weird to me. It's the part where the reader expects some sort of resolution, maybe they talk about their feelings, confront their identities, MC finally comes to a conclusion about how he feels towards ML (since he really hadn't thought about it much at all until then)... And then nothing happens and next chapter it's a time skip back to gaming. Not everyone will take issue with this, but it did bother me quite a bit.

The side characters were also... eh. Not very memorable. The most memorable were the fujoshi pair and even then it's not always for the best reasons. Although I do like the "fujoshi troupe", they really go hard with the "omg uke!!! Seme!!!" and "sister-in-law" antics. Usually I don't mind as much but the author portrayed the MC as being very awkward and unhappy about it which made it uncomfortable, so instead of it being funny it grew exponentially annoying with time. I guess I empathize with the MC on that front, haha.

All in all it is an ok read. Even with all the points above I didn't regret reading this at all. <<less

edit: it's December 27th 2022 and I've read this novel for the 4th time. Truly a gem and will always be dear to my heart. As soon as break from school started, this was the novel I was itching to read!! Xia Chen and Wu Han Ying deserve to live happily ever after, wishing them a harmonious married life 💗

As someone who has read this book not once, not twice but THREE TIMES!!!! I can guaranteed, it's in my top 3 bl esports novel list!!! Everything is perfect about... more>> this novel, the plot pace, character development, interactions between main and side characters, *chefs kiss* perfect!!!

I love Professor Xia and our innocent little uke, Wu Han Ying!!! He's so adorable and Professor Xia is such a doting husband I loved it!! I pretty much re-read it once I forget the small points of the plot (which is why I've read it three times so far in the past two years!!) but honestly it's just that amazing!!! Also, our little snowball Xia Shang (Professor Xia's little nephew) ahhh adorable!!

please read this novel and give it a shot!! I wish there were more scenes in this book, like Professor Xia and Wu Han Ying adopting a bun to raise ahhh <<less

Not really intense but a chill go to novel where you want to read short soft reads I guess. Can't really see where the original translated chapters were so I had to find some posted elsewhere and results are pretty shocking and a headache. Some sites makes this novel pretty hard to understand while some are easy for the eyes. Sighh~ wish the site for the releases were posted here since I want to reread again because from the site I used, no pictures where posted despite the in-text clues... more>> that there were for better reads😢. Edit: HEY I swear I cl**ked 4 stars. Why is it 1? 😠😤 Anyways, it's a five star review for me because it's a good story, love how cute and pure MC was portrayed to be, meek, quiet and dumb at times BUT his flaws came out really easy for my eyes. He's also mature and I really felt him every time he's in a dilemma with his family. Quite anti-climatic and short when it comes to the ending because I still wanna see explicitly how he resolves the thing with his fam, his job and how his marriage comes along but it's supposed to be a soft fluffy read not a dramatic one so I guess I'll leave it to my tiny big brain 😌 <<less

I feel very disheartened by a lot of the reviews left by other readers :d

I rate this novel a solid 4 stars, but it's not for any specific reason or flaw within the story. Love You 59 seconds is a cinderella-story and there is no angst, dog-blood, and any of your typical story structure here. The characters aren't complex and super compelling but they're still quite lovable. The ML is your second-gen, handsome and affectionate top. He and the MC have a loving relationship and the game-based (MMORPG) aspect isn't... more>> overly complicated, but having some knowledge of MMORPGs are recommended imo (there are a few references to gaming terms and scenarios and such that really need personal experience and context to undestand fully). If not for the fact that the story is a tad-bit underdeveloped with it's direction and characters, I probably would've rated it higher. I'm usually generous with my ratings but for a few general reasons that I can't be bothered to diverge into (I'm a lazy pos), I feel that if there is such a thing as a figurative threshold for what I'm willing to rate 5-stars, this novel just doesn't quite make it there. I don't regret reading this novel because it's wholesome (wow, great use of vocabulary, you imbecile.) and I'm just a sucker for gaming-related novels (being the degenerate "gamer" that I am, lmao). So, while I could list what everyone else addresses better than I can, I want to assure my guarantee that anyone who isn't looking for the next 'SAYE' or 'A Certain Someone' level of writing (+it's not like the author is gonna be able to write and fit as much development as you literary connoisseurs expect within just 69 chapter ^^;) will be able to enjoy the simple fluff. Not everything needs to be written so intricately for people to enjoy it (*cough* *cough* those of you who discouraged other people from reading this just-as-worthwhile novel!) Lower your standards or just don't read this novel if you are wanting something very stimulating or heart-wrenching. The simplicity of the story is inherently a fault but it is still a perfectly valid novel and excellent remedy for those who have just gone through more emotionally turbulent novels hehe (*´꒳`*) <<less

A company boss who happens to be a college professor & has a gaming hobby... this ML has me hooked.

It’s actually a really cute story. The gameplay was a bit of headache for me, but I appreciate the TL’s efforts in explaining. The notes were pretty thorough & detailed, so many thanks for your hard work! Moreover, I adore the main CP. Their interactions in game & out were adorable. I’m a little flabbergasted at how their relationship started out as a slowburn & then all of a sudden they... more>> went from base 1 to base 3 in a short amount of time! I’m not complaining about the spicy fluff though. The biggest letdown has to be the ending of the novel. Not sure if it’s due to the time crunch or maybe the author just felt lazy to scribble down a more comprehensive closure, but it was just way too rushed & full of holes for me. & Come on now- no extras?? Spoiler

Like how Wu Han Ying dealt with the issue with his Aunt and Uncle, it was just briefly glossed over with a "Xia Chen had the lawyers deal with it" passage and that was it. I'm also iffy with how the last chapter is basically a summary of what could have been a dozen or more chapters, like going "all the problems were solved and they lived happily ever after. The End" without explaining what all went into it to get to the conclusion.

I'm quite sad at the lack of extras, it would have been nice to at least have a chapter that had

I also want to give 5 ⭐️ for the translator, they went the extra mile to even explain gaming terms, Chinese culture references, places, etc. It was a very clean and pleasant to read translation, my inner grammar-police didn't get triggered and I didn't have to put in extra effort to understand at all. It was like reading something that was in English from the start. Very comfortable. <<less

This was a simple and quiet story, I don't have many complaints, I think this story was not bad, but it wasn't that good for me either.
It is a sweet and funny story which I liked the development of the revelations little by little, and the patience of the MC.
ML..... well.... he is nice and attentive.
I don't really know what to say about this story, it was good, but it didn't stand out so much for me or captivate me... :/

Dropped at chapter 29. Either the story is really slow moving or it was overly focused on the game

Romance in the first half of the book (i.e what I read) is non-existent. MC and ML have barely met in the game, and although ML helps MC level up, there was very minimal interaction and hence almost zero relationship development. The front was game-heavy in the sense that it was focused on technicalities that weren't very interesting to me, unlike the other gaming BL that I have read thus far. Imo... more>> it was pretty boring... (I usually like reading gaming novels so this came as a surprise to me that I didn't like this story) <<less

This feels like a milder and worse version of Waiting for You Online.

Both of them have a lot of components in a game but this one was much harder to follow as a lot of it was spamming between people rather than things happening in the game. The main character also was very bland, he kind of just followed along through life, and although his relationship with his family was bad nothing really came from it, and also a lot of things just happened... it made for an all in... more>> all unsatisfying story. There were cute moments but it didn't quite fit with the story and all the hard work trying to understand the story didn't have the expected payout. Although it's not terrible, I would rather not have read this and no I would not recommend this to anyone else. <<less

A nice read to pass time. Full of fluff and nothing more. It is kinda flat but I still recommend this novel since I also laughed, giggled and face-palmed many times reading this. BTW kudos to the translator for the detailed explanation about the game! It's really helpful.

This story is like a fujoshi created a story on a whim and let her supporting characters portray her fan-girling to the MC and ML, it's actually funny. The MC's attitude is actually nice here and I also like his patience towards his... more>> family. He's also borderline shy and bold. ML on the otherhand is your typical rich, OP ML. He's sweet and caring to the MC, though I think my first impression to him faded after he confessed.

Just let me point out some things

Spoiler

One of the conclusion is very unrealistic, I mean who does gives a person they just fancied recently and give them a company???

The world in this novel has a lot of fujoshis, at the school and also in the game. They are all funny but if you think about it, the world doesn't look like that. I think fujoshis are rare pokemons?

The start of the story has a nice and steady pace that will also let you absorb in the game HOWEVER the ending is very very very rushed! There's no detailed explanation about how MC handled the company? Did his rotten uncle applied to his company? What happended to his aunt's family after the uncle resigned? What happened to his friends? What is Jun Zhe's occupation? Why does the love rival keeps on disappearing and reappearing? Tmtm

This novel is pretty good to read if you're searching for something light and fluffy. The MC and MLs interactions are pretty cute.

Spoiler

There do are some events in the story that kind of lacks more detail though, like how other side characters react when they got together in the offline meetup. The time frame is kind of pretty weird too that everything almost happen in a few days and they like each other already. Only a few weeks or some months and ML decided to settle down or wants to get married with MC (even giving the ownership of the company). It makes it kind of unrealistic, but I wish it can also happen in real life. Like how ML dotes on MC a lot after they got together.

MCs character is being very obedient (has a very mild personality) as described, but the term used should be being pushover or easy to lead around. I believe the MC easily accepted the relationship because of this personality of his (of course we still need to factor in that he did like 59 in the game - hopefully or if there were other fiction characters who likes him, he can easily be taken away from ML). Also, the MC's behavior towards ML's doting is kind of weird too, the author didnt write that MC was thankful for all the ML's help and affection, which making me uneasy sometimes that maybe one day ML will be done with MC's ungratefulness (but it all comes down to MC being a pushover that's why ML is terribly smitten, lol).

Whenever I see MC replying 'okay' to what ML says, no question ask, I always feel laughing with it.

Still this novel is easy to read, being light, cute, and fluffy. And you have a doting seme and simple/cute uke to boot.

[collapse]

I also want to thank the translator a lot who gave a lot of notes to explain all the gaming terms. If the translator can also take all chinese BL gaming novels, that would be for the best, lol <<less

Even thought this story was very heavy on descriptions of the game, I kind of enjoyed the second half of the story. Since I'm not a gamer, and don't play this particular game, I found the minute descriptions of the game very tedious, and hardly read through those parts. I page-downed my way to the parts where they were actually interacting in a meaningful way with each other.

I think the reason many reviewers felt that the MC was bland and boring is because his thought processes are internal and... more>> he doesn't voice out what he is thinking. People are very rarely boring, and introverted people tend to have a very rich inner world. If the author had described his inner thoughts and feelings more than describing the gameplay, it would have made a much better story. Even him and the ML falling in love would have been more natural and less abrupt. To me, it felt like the author was more like an observer and recorder of the gameplay, than an observer of emotions and feelings. Like, someone sitting behind your shoulder observing how you play and what you type, rather than them understanding your internal thought process and your feelings in the moment.

Spoiler

It was annoying when all the ML and the MC could type in the chat box was "..... " There was no description of what their thoughts were like, we just got a bland "..... ".

I found the MC sweet and innocent. I liked that he was very ordinary. No one would remember him or his face, until they got to really know him. It gave a realistic touch to the story. The ML being this rich, ultra capable, multitalented person made me roll my eyes. I wish he had just been a regular professor. It felt like the author regretted making the MC so ordinary, so they had to make the ML extraordinary, otherwise romance would not have a chance.

Funny with a slow-burn romance! I loved this to bits and reading this makes me feel nostalgic as I grew up with Asian MMORPGs (I stopped--MMORPGs are a bit taxing in my laptop), so keep in mind that the game elements are prevalent throughout the novel.

I felt that at first that it dragged, but after reading more I didn't think that it did--it carried out well and in a great pace. The reward... more>> is great with fluffy moments with Xiao Wu and Xia Chen!

I'm a bit disappointed with the lack of exploration between the other characters though. We only get some glimpses of them, and they're rowdy and fun... and sometimes I get confused who's who, and after a while I only remember a few side characters (I wrote this off as 'remember only the important characters'). The ending was a bit abrupt though in my taste with a quick last sentence, like they rushed to end it, but overall, I think that there were enough moments to be satisfied by.

This was a good ride. It had me squealing and excited.
