Guide To Raising the Sick Villain

Qiao Lan transmigrated into a novel.

She became a cannon-fodder who was rescued by the heroine after being bullied but was jealous of the heroine because of her love for the hero and ultimately ended up miserable.

When she first entered the novel, Qiao Lan met a cannon fodder more pitiful than her. He was bullied, severely autistic, and had crippled legs.

Qiao Lan: …

Thinking of the male partner who had only been able to live for two years, Qiao Lan had a distressed conscience and began to take care of the gloomy boy.

2 years later, they had both become each other’s lift and the boy would stand up again and be able to hold her.

***

She had seen a passage when she was reading a book about Asperger’s Syndrome. The passage had explained that people with Asperger’s Syndrome generally suffered from “love disorder”. Some believe that a small percentage of people with Asperger’s Syndrome have an IQ far exceeding that of ordinary people, but their EQ is much lower than that of ordinary people. In terms of emotions, they are more like children with blank slates.

That’s why Qiao Lan was so sure that Tan Mo would never like her. He would rely on her, take care of her, and protect her, but he would not like her like a man likes a woman because Tan Mo did not understand this type of emotion.

Some say that some people with Asperger’s Syndrome will never understand what love is in their entire lives. Perhaps a number of people will understand, but in some cases, people on the higher scale of AS are too paranoid and sometimes overarchingly possessive. With this came a large amount of trouble that came from being too obsessed with one person. Few people could understand or handle such love, which leads to tragedy.

I'm not sure how accurate the medical information is on this novel, but I'm still rating 5 stars because of how well it was written and the emotions it conjured out of me while I was reading it.

It melted my heart and made it whole once again. The journey they've been through makes you root for their happily ever after and I wish someone would love me as pure as the love they have for each other.

The story was okay. The intro covers most of the plot and there is a happy ending. There are several heartwarming moments but the repeated emphasis on looks is annoying. It's brought up in almost every chapter.

Due to FL's and ML's good looks, multiple coveting cannon fodders interfere in their relationship and get face slapped. This trope was overused... eroding my good feelings towards the novel.

If you want something with more substance, this isn't what you're looking for.

This story would be 5 stars but the translation gets really brutal when a different translator picks it up at chapter 71. I feel this needs to be pointed out for anyone who wants to read the story.

I don't know if they were using MTL or if it's an actual human translation but there are a lot of issues. I can tolerate the pronoun and grammar issues as that's kind of normal in mtl stuff but then there are sections where it looks like words were deleted and random quotations... more>> that really make it hard to understand what was happening. And then there are the random jumps between third-person (the primary point of view for the novel) and first-person (which might have been thoughts in the original, maybe?) which makes it really hard to make sense of.

Translation aside, the story is actually nice. There isn't any overly complicated issues for the MC and the ML beyond dealing with their individual demons (her tr*sh family, his depression and insecurity), even the "potential" love rivals are dealt with fairly easily. There is no second ML in this story and the other cannon fodder doesn't really feature in the eyes of the main pair. The ML grows as he struggles with being different and how he is afraid it will make the MC leave him before eventually having her blatantly explain that she has no issues with him being the way he is.

The transmigration does feel a bit underused in this as it's only used to give her a "foundation" of study so that she can actually get high marks but otherwise, it just takes a backseat and is rarely mentioned. I think it only ever comes up when she compares how much her childhood s**ked in both lives and how she has never had someone who cares for her the way the ML does (this includes the friendship pre-love caring).

I kind of wish some parts were more fleshed out but I definitely enjoyed this. <<less

A moving love story that demonstrates that love is everywhere and available for everyone. Even a mentally disabled person can receive love as long as the other person is willing.

Qiao Lan is a strong female lead. She doesn't allow anyone to come between her and Tan Mo. She stays true to her heart throughout it all. Understanding and caring, she is exactly what Tan Mo needs.

Tan Mo's condition is serious and incurable but it is not hopeless.

This is a story about overcoming the impossible and finding fulfillment and happiness in... more>> the end.

Tan Mo is such an endearing ML, I’m happy he got to have his happy ending with Qiao Lan.

I loved the character development and how their relationship progressed. It felt very natural and realistic. Admittedly it did suffer from the usual Chinese novel troupes.

Overall, still a great read.

This novel is unique because of the syndrome the male lead has, but somehow this element adds more emotion to the story and makes the readers understand more about people with mental illness and how they also deserve to love and be loved. I also loved the last plot where

Jiu su tried to sabotage the relationship because of his own experience. It shows a difference mental illness and how it affects lives and that it doesnt always have a happy ending. The fact that luo man didnt become a typical villainess that hates the FL and actually realises that jiu su wasnt as gentle as he looked like was very realistic and a good ending.

Ahhhhh this was an emotional roller coaster! I really enjoyed this novel. It was a nice change of pacing with the main characters. Its nice to see both protagonists grow together.

I have only 2 cons to this:

  1. Towards the end, the translation/editing seemed to not be as good, but it wasn't bad enough to not understand what was going on.
  2. Spoiler

I don't really understand why the transmigration was so important, I feel like that honestly could have been left out? Idk though it didn't have much merit to most of the plot so I overlooked it.

change a little over halfway the story. I mean, it is still understandable, but the difference is significant.

(+) Being out of my regular genre, I loved the rawness of the characters (for some reason, the ML's behavior keeps reminding me of the FL in Sukitte li na yo). They are very complex, dynamic characters that you can't help but laugh/cry with and root for.

(+) The ending didn't feel rushed. Compared with the numerous fantasy novels I've read where the ending felt overpacked and rushed, maybe it's the genre but I felt satisfied with how things ended with this one. It's saying a lot for me given that it is a chinese novel.

(+) I don't have much awareness of AS, so not sure how well it was represented. I appreciate how crystal clear the author's position was on this condition that is not so mainstream and well understood.

(-) May not necessarily be a con, but some situations/characters repeat which may lessen interest on the overall story.` <<less

I love it I spend two sleepless night to read all of it. Five stars would read again.

So let’s see it’s a slow-burn, fluff and sweet. The pace for their relationship development isn’t too bad I think it’s steady too steady, so much so I was screaming into my phone “kiss KISS!!”

I like how as their relationship strength the misunderstanding became less and less an issue, and communication became a big part of it.

This story was actually pretty good. It was not boring and you could enjoy as the storyline progress.

In this the author portrayed the FL who is very patient and calm and thinks through the things thoroughly and takes decision and not ill tempered and even when she gets angry she do not let it get to her head and solves it in a pretty good way.

Coming for the ML he is possessive towards the FL but do not show it in front of the FL in the fear that she... more>> would leave him but if FL makes him understand anything he would understand it and tries to not repeat it again.

I love both of their characters and the feeling they have for each other despite many problems (externally or mental problems). <<less

It is so cute and so nice to read. Honestly, I expected more from this but its also okay this way.

I first read Devil's Warmth before this so in the first half I couldn't help but compare. But, it has its own charm. Gradually I see this as its own, then thought of another novel (My Husband Has Scholar Syndrome) then, thought of it as its own again. I expected more because the previous summary was so wow (... more>>

something about MC transmigration into a fanfiction of the original novel

[collapse]
, this looks interesting, but then it wasn't even mentioned at all.

Still it was good. I like how MC was with him thru thick and thin and never doubted him and ML was also good and caring towards the MC. There may be times where you'll think he's a bit too much, then after MC talks to ML, everything seems okay again. Communication is the key in a relationship and this novel emphasized that. I also like that there's more information about ML's mental and physical illness.

This is a slice of life novel but enough actions to make you not tired. Although the small antagonist really were too much I wanna punch them. <<less

The amount of character development is astounding to me. Art. This is absolute art. Literature at its peak. Every word makes me animalistic over the interactions between the two main characters. I don’t know how the author churned this out but I’d drown in it if I could. Author is a god and Tan Mo is Earth’s most precious baby. Amen.

also shoutout to my girl Qiao Lan for being the sexiest goddess ever 😫💘💘

This novel is simply a gem. I learned so many things I haven't known about life in this novel. This just made me fall in love with it. I love both the MC and ml. Especially the ml. He's the best and no. 1 ML on my list currently. The novel as well.

I am not sure about the accuracy but I really enjoyed reading this novel. There was never a dull moment.

So Many Good Things:

  • Spoiler
    • The way MC handled ML's possessiveness and self sabotaging behaviour.
    • The "villains" - As satisfying total destruction might be, I wasn't totally on board with Zero To Psycho development. The villains here seems real and fleshed out and most of all, they get the ending they deserve.
    • MC's stance when it comes to same s*x friendship vs your partner. I wholeheartedly agree with MC's belief when it comes to loyalty. True, ML has issues but she explains things to him and doesn't do anything to make ML uncomfortable. (micro cheating is rampant you know)
    • How MC and ML got together. Damn! Romantic AF!
    • The adult moments. Realistic, if you ask me
    • The redemption and wokeness of Luo Man/Roman - it's normal to be jealous but she proved that you don't need to be perfect to have some happiness.
    • The way this novel didn't try to 'fix' long gone family issues.
    [collapse]
The meh-parts:

  • Spoiler
    • What happened to MC's family? What's their ending?
    • The extra stories are so vague and kind of a cliff hanger.
    • The ending is kind of Love 020/Slight smile is alluring. Not a problem though since it oddly fits. I just wish for a more concluding ending for each characters.
    [collapse]
Verdict: This novel has the right recipe of angst and romance.

The story description seems promising, but I pretty much been hate-read the first 20 chapters. Basically MC's classmates and family are all 2-bit villains, and it's pretty painful to read. It does get a little bit better, but it's very much like a lot of other novels where dumb, superficial people cause trouble for MC one after another.

That said, I do love the development of MC & ML's relationship.
