Quick Transmigration Cannon Fodder’s Record of Counterattacks

Ning Shu had dropped dead. But in a burst of good fortune, she became a task-taker in charge of counterattacking for the pitiful cannon fodders. Thus, Ning Shu, in one world after another, took all kinds of life roles and encountered all kinds of “you’re heartless, you’re ruthless, you’re making trouble for no reason” people. She encountered all sorts of white lotus flowers, green tea b*tches, scheming b*tches, by the batch.

“Does any true beauty still exist in the world?!” Bellowed Ning Shu angrily. “You annoying tr*sh! I’m just here to counterattack, please don’t get in the way of me completing my task.” Transmigration main character, reincarnation main character. There’s only a lazy task-taker, no indestructible main character halo. Ning Shu had no choice, but to painfully gather moral integrity in each of the worlds.

It's extremely damn frustrating to read.

Constant r*pe with no consequences and MC doesn't really come to an satisfying conclusion.

I only lasted up to chap 400+ but can't take it anymore. MC feels always weak and can't do anything while the evil ML/FL of each world survive and not really punished

This novel has quite a lot of problems.

That's talk about the MC first. She has no personality. I'm 30 chapters in and there is nothing can differentiate her from any other MC. A story with this kind of MC can still work, but you will need at least one interesting side character and a lot of different character povs. But, this novel focuses entirely on the MC, and with such a boring MC, a part of this novel itself becomes quite boring too.

Second, the side characters. The side characters are... more>> either a*sholes or just cold for no reason. Every single one of them. It's like the author doesn't know how to write someone that's not an a*shole.

We got no description of how the world looks, and there's a few plot holes. Most of this is probably because the author just didn't bother writing the details of how the world works and skipped a lot of stuffs he probably should add.

The chapters are also so short that it's just unsatisfying to read.

In the end, you get a novel that just doesn't give its readers any motivation to read it. It is very boring and aggravating to read. <<less

I love that this is No CP and the MC is badass (most of the time). The MC and the over-arcing story are interesting but the author is extremely inconsistent at times, (especially regarding the MC's stats), the copies have their flaws and they start to get repetitive towards the middle.
Spoiler

some of the repeated copies are so similar that I flipped back to make sure and aside from the names, the situations are almost an exact repeat.

outside the copies, in the latter half of the story, there are 50-100+ chapters in between world tasks where the MC wanders around and unnecessarily gets into trouble over and over again and occasionally acts like an impulsive temperamental idiot. Towards the end, (the last 1000-1500 chapters) there is barely any world hopping at all. The focus is all on strength, growth, growing worlds, politics, intrigue, etc.

honestly, I started to lose interest after the first war and started skipping chapters; it felt like it was 80% filler and 20% actual content at times.
[collapse]

this is a 3 at it's worst and a 4 at it's best. It's not bad, the good parts were very good, but there were more filler and boring parts than good ones, which was tedious and rage inducing at times.

This is the best novel ever. Like our host is super level-headed, has a lot of character development and she isn't like the FL in other novels that are super OP from start. I super like her way of thinking and her character.

I can't wait for chapters to be released and I am looking for similar novels.

Ning Shu made me loathe some manga and webtoons that I've been reading bc of the dumb female leads :)))

Amongst all the many transmigration stories that is out there, I personally find this a really unique and refreshing novel.

The main character, Ning Shu, is such a breath of fresh air amongst all the same super OP female leads or same naive FL that ends up losing a lot of their personality once they find their male lead. Albeit, the first arc might be hard to get through, the future arcs are really interesting.

The reason why I highly recommend this story if you're starting to tire of similar storylines is... more>> because QT cannon fodder is really good at picking up the flaws or unrealistic things that happen in usual transmigration stories and creating realistic solutions to it. It's just so nice to see a character not lose her personality or ability to provide any sort of solution once they meet their "destined partner". Not being completely OP but watching someone work hard and build up their skill set on their own is satisfying to read and in a way inspiring.

Fair warning, there is very little romance that happens to the main character. If anything you realize how romance or passion filled love really short circuits people's brains...

However, if you are tired of naive Mary sues with no ability to think for themselves or super OP characters that don't think of consequences and what their actions does cause for other people around them I highly recommend this story. It's just so interesting and you just keep wanting to read more to see what Ning Shu does next. Whilst jumping through the many worlds, you start to realize there seems to be a bigger storyline that seems to be weaved throughout. The mystery keeps you wanting to read to see what comes next and to pick up the next hint. <<less

Ning Shu ruined all the other love stories for me. Not because of the love or romance in here (because there is none!!! most of the Love here is all broken up by Ning Shu- and it really makes you question what love is)

Spoiler

There's really no romance for Ning Shu. At times you might think - oh, is this guy the Male Lead? You'd be wrong. Even if there seem to be some guys who might actually be good, because of all the worlds she's gone though, she's become strong and independent. Even when she depends on someone else (the Uncle was my fav character!) in the beginning when she's just starting out..... well.... nope, she ends up not depending on him lol, but it takes about 3000+ chapters.

[collapse]

I mean, I haven't actually finished reading it, because I MTLed 1000 chapters, but couldn't hold on and wanted to wait for the translations. But my gosh, I love Ning Shu. Some of the plot arcs are really terrible to women though which really put me off, but I still love Ning Shu. The author keeps repeating that: sometimes, women are the ones who put the shackles on other women, and I really agree. Though basically 95% of the men in this story are scumbags too. <<less

The best part about this novel is that it has alot use of intelligence . Even tho most of us readers say that the MC is a muscle head she still completes her mission and considers how satisfied the host will be with the counterattack. After a certain amount of worlds we see that the MC questions her existence and what happens after everything. I think thats a very good question to ask considering she has spend over 100 years dealing with bs that made people give up parts of... more>> their sould to counterattack. The MC is strong mentally and physically. She never tries to leech off of someone. Except the first round kinda. Whenever she gets resources she tries to make it hers. Learns cultivation. Learns how to make pills, fight etc. She even does higher education in law in one of the worlds. This is an MC who learns. At first we get an MC who has been in the hospital for most part of her life. Kind of a blank slate. She does not know how to get along with people . It has been many arcs and the MC now is so much stronger and different from original. She's like a sponge absorving whatever information. She kinda sucks at it but she does what she can. And every arc has a different kind of scum. The arc with the reverse harem with rapists all around was the most disgusting. Im happy with the counterattack but I still detest those men. The MC ruins those rapists. She does not only make the female antagonists suffer. She makes the males too . And worthwhile counterattacks too

Now the point of these arcs is that both the female and male leads in these arcs are the stereotypical annoying characters and are actually kind of based on real annoying novels. So the MC she counterattacks for canon fodders. The male leads believe they they the best mightiest etc etc and can trample on anyone while most of the female leads rise to power cus of the male lead. Both of them got victim mentality. And the MC points it out and the author also points out the flaws and senseless double standards through the words of different other canon fodder.

For example in the sadomasochistic arc the dad said, "the only reason she didnt report him to the police for taking her nudes and threatning is because be is rich, young and handsome but if he was old and ugly then she would never have agreed" and honestly yes, that was exactly what the female lead was like in that arc tho she sugar coated her words with love.

Overall I love the fact that theres no male lead yet and we get a counterattacker who doest enjoy her job but does it cuz she will die if she wont and constantly tries to get stronger. <<less

Reviewer Gayle I agree w/ everything you said lmao. Despite this being a pretty tr*shy novel in terms of feminism (so much justified r*pe and violence to young women its actually awful), it was strangely hard to put down.

The Bad: soo much woman hate- I didn't see it so much in the first world the MC is in - its actually the world she's the most noob in so its pretty refreshing to think back on, but as the story progresses, female villains really suffer, and a lot of them... more>> aren't even villains - and the author justifies it, saying that this is life what do you expect...

The author can barely get away w/ the female violence when its part of the world building (basically anything not present culture). But for the modern day transmigration stories - its awful to read. It wasn't cathartic it was sickening.

The Good: This was my first multiple transmigrations story and I really enjoyed the idea of it. The world building was really creative and cool, the stories were interesting. My favourite one so far is Realm 6 - Frightening event on Campus. I read this a while ago when the translation was only at ch500, so I was reading the raws until ch 900 - it is an addicting story.

Also as mentioned there isn't a love interest, I was hopeful at one point but we'll see maybe he'll show up again. But basically this story moves forward w/o any consistant male lead or romance so its slightly different than other Female Protag stories.

Not sure if I'll pick it up again, but if I do I will be skipping worlds w/ too much s*xual violence. <<less

I can't believe I've endured this far. This is the slowest novel I've ever read, the first arc is a pain to finish but I managed somehow. I dropped and picked this up a couple of times. The reason I keep reading this is because I want to see the MC grow from weak to strong. Currently it's almost at the 1000 chapter but nothing much has happened except for the MC growing a bit stronger than how she was in the beginning. She met a few interesting characters here... more>> and there. There's improvement with her lifestyle at chapter 900 something. Honestly if you managed to endure the frustrating original arc plot and bypass the infuriating characters in every arc. It's pretty good I've come to love it and looking forward for more.

Two Stars for now. Just finished the first arc and I find the MC annoying and a burden. Not entirely sure if I can put up with such a character as the protagonist for the rest of the arcs but I'll give the second arc a try.

Spoiler

Ning Shu is a disaster and I seriously don't see what her purpose in this world is for aside from being completely incompetent and a burden. She hinders the School Doctor during many tasks (Pig Teammate, indeed), she has zero talent in almost everything, and she has no use. She lets everyone walk over her despite her apparent skills in TKD. Ofc, there's like a chapter or two where she fights back successfully.

Then, her shooting skills are zero to none. I don't know what logic she has but having the ability to shoot a gun doesn't exactly seem logical to actually own a gun. She can barely make the target after practically living in the shooting range and she still seems to find it logical to hold a gun as her main defence right after her skills in TKD.

Two stars for the story and the translator. I don't know, I probably forgot most parts since I've read the majority of this arc when it was very late into the night. It's my personal opinion but the first arc really disappointed me. I can't see, from this arc, why the story is so well rated. Hope the next arc is better.

To begin with, im just so confuse how on earth that people like this story. I feel like FL didnt do anything except walk around and describe the scenario. She couldnt do anything at all, lets me repeat it again AT ALL. The original's feeling is big obstacle prevent FL to do the task. FL isnt likeable, MC isnt likeable and the system, itself, also isnt likeable. The heck why I wasteing my time so much. Anyway translater did their good job. I really appreciate it.

Interesting novel. At first, I couldn’t get used to the lack of romance for the MC, but after getting used to it, I realised the novel was like a hidden gem! I like that apart from some arcs where a recurring character may pop up, the stories usually don’t have much to do with each other!

Although it’s nice to read some romance transmigration novels, they get old quick when the MC falls for the ML and spends the rest of the story either relying on him, or trying to find... more>> him. What makes this novel stand out from the rest is the fact that the MC doesn’t actually have a sole person she relies on. Although she does rely on people, she is not op like the people from romance novels with the ML helping them. Rather than the word ‘rely’ it’s closer to use and manipulate since she doesn’t actually trust them, she is using them to achieve her goal. You get to slowly watch her grow as a character, which is very refreshing.

The MC adapts her character to suit the storyline and complete her task. Sometimes she can’t help being swayed by her own emotions, but you can see her learn from her mistakes and actually get rewarded for the results that she worked for.

Also, for the people who think that the mc/novel is racist, sexist, or ‘seeks male approval.’ Please understand that the side characters act like that to convey how shallow and thoughtless they are. The author themselves clearly do not think that one must seek male approval to be desirable. The whole skin colour thing isn’t even racist. There is historical evidence of what was found attractive in ancient China, and even modern day China. Since this is a Chinese novel, the author is basing their perception of beauty on the general accepted beauty standards both for ancient and modern times. Especially in ancient times, dark skin had always been associated with the poor and working class, and was considered to be extremely unattractive. A lot of females went out of their way to avoid the sun with umbrellas and hats. This standard of beauty for ancient times isn’t associated with just China, many other countries had also considered lighter skin to be more beautiful in those times. <<less

This novel is slightly different from the other QT novels I’ve read. MC is just an ordinary girl that died from a sickness (Pretty sure), and got bound with a system. No OPness, no inhuman high IQ.

It’s nice to see her progress step by step throughout the worlds she goes to. She reacts to it like a normal person (for example, the paranormal arc, when she came in, it was right when the original host and her roommates were using the Oujia board to summon a ghost. Her first reaction... more>> was like, f*ck! Why are these kids playing around with these kinds of things?). Nice break from those with OP MCs.

Also, there’s actually some background on the System and the place where they originate from. (I’m only reading the translated chapters, not the raws. I also depend on spoiler threads.)

And so, I give a rating of 4/5.

As for why I didn’t give it a full 5 stars?

Even though this novel had a nice MC and storyline, it still can’t change the fact that I like OP MCs.

With the MC being a literal punching bag in the first arc, you can see why I lowered my rating. <<less

I'll start off by saying that I thoroughly enjoyed reading this novel.

  • The MC is an independent and rational woman who sees things as they are.
  • She doesn't have any OP cheats or any exceptional talents except for her strong mentality. Of course, she does have her protagonist halo as she is the protagonist, but it balances out with her flaws and the situations she's put in.
  • There's been no sign of any ML so far. But I'm glad there isn't any because it's quite refreshing to read about the MC completing her tasks without having to deal with her own romantic drama on the side.
  • Additionally, MC works with what she's got. Considering the fact that she takes on cannon fodder roles and has to comply with each plane's rules, MC does extremely well in accomplishing her tasks and keeping her head straight.
  • MC's commentary on the cliches and the FL's and ML's halo effects on others is satisfying to read.
I'm not the type of reader who picks up on the underlying messages at first glance because I just read for the sake of enjoying it. So I cant really say much about the feminist things and plot holes and whatnot.

But I can say that the fact that all the characters and subplots in each arc are exaggeratingly cliched for a reason, and I... more>> believe it's been explained later on by the system.

Spoiler

In the cultivation arc, MC returns a dimension plane back to the place where they originated (?), and there the system explains that the dimmer planes are the ones that the task-takers are trying to help fix and repair to prevent them from disappearing. Additionally, the system says that these dying planes could result from excess regrets of cannon fodders and innocent souls as well as certain people going beyond the limits allowed in the plane.

[collapse]

It's certainly a slow plot, but I think its srsly worth giving it a try. There are some people who dont like the first arc, but I still encourage new and interested readers to persevere and read on.

My favorite arc was the one where MC takes on the special task and becomes a FL instead of a cannon fodder. That one was hilarious and really satisfying because of MC's genius way of avoiding r*pe. <<less

This novel is really good!

At first, I I was a bit disappointed since there's no romance for the MC, but now I actually glad it doesn't have one so far. The good points I found so far is:

1. MC is unique and actually adapt her mindset with each world. That means her personality showed to others changed a bit to fit with the world she currently has her task in. (But her inner principle is still firm)

2. It's refreshing to see a story from another side. I have read... more>> some CN web novels, but this novel actually make me think of the story in another way. For example, in some cultivation novels, I got excited and really like the story. But here, you can see the MC of those novels is too lucky and dumb sometimes. Which can atually be true if you think twice. I still liked those novels in the end, but at the same time it's complicated.. You'll know what I mean if you read this XD

3. She's not OP, and doesn't always have a strong backing in each world. You can see her struggle and actually relate to it.

4. Translation team is really good at this! It's so smooth and easy to read. English isn't my native language, so sometimes it's hard for me to understand it if the sentences are complicated.. ^^; The minus point is:

Hmm.. I can't think of any for now.. Except the fact that I can't read nor understand Chinese despite the fact I want to read ahead so bad.. Lol XD <<less

This novel is very good. The character development, in my opinion, is perfect. The fact that so far (chapter 604) it doesn't have the romance element yet (?) is refreshing from all the other quick transmigration novels I've read. It doesn't fail to make me laugh every chapter and it has one of the best ways of counterattacking the absolutely infuriatingly frustrating characters in each world.

Looking forward to reading the rest of the novel, many thanks to the translator for translating the novel and applause to the author for coming... more>> up with such a great story. Can't wait to read what happens next! <<less

I adore this story so much. Here is why

  1. Unlike other QT's stories, this one doesn't revolve around romance.
  2. Set story line about systems, their existence and the reason for the souls transmigration which most stories miss.
  3. Ning Shu is not OP, and you will travel along with her in her quest to become stronger and a better person.
  4. There is no hypocrisy in her actions. She is what she is and there is no side stepping her morals to achieve the success.
  5. I've always read the phrase "so angry I'm about to cough up blood" in c-novels and thought it was so exaggerated, but let me tell you, some stories really really make me want to cough up blood. Now this is not a good thing, but it shows how strong the author can make people feel things (even while MTLing lmao).
  6. There is a undercurrent of so many sub plots and I'm so eager to touch all those. Just imagining how so many characters might (might not) collide in the future makes me so excited.
Anyways, people with low blood pressure, I suggest skipping first arc, it adds almost nothing to entire plot and will only make readers mad. Just to be on the safe side know this ... more>>

Advice for new readers:

Skim or skip the first arc. It's completely infuriating, and everything after is much better imo.

There's just one character that seems to be important. And the MC learned basically nothing there. I mean she learned how to sometimes hit a stationary target with a gun but... There's only been one world since then were guns were a useful skill.

In fact, let me give you a summary of everything important in arc 1 to make it easier to skip.

Spoiler

Ning Shu, the main character, dies of Cancer after 10 years in the hospital. And gets drafter into a Quick Transmigration system. After an unsatisfying intro to how everything works, she's shoved into her first world.

And right into getting beaten up. Her host is a non aristocrat in an aristocratic school, and on top of that, she's in love with one of the school princes. Not to mention super obvious and, kinda creepy, about it. She's also hated by the FL, a transmigrated girl from a cultivator world, who's become the queen bee of the school and who's currently ensnaring all the princes.

The hosts wish, which MC has to fulfill, is to kick FL into the mud, stop her crush from being toyed with and get revenge on the bullies.

This is not the easy world she was supposed to get, but system is a flake and can't fix it, so she has to manage.

After this realisation, she goes off to get her wounds tended by the school doctor, and meets the only important character in arc 1. The school doctor, is secretly a criminal, or assassin or something, and also a mad scientist, named Psycho. He also has a ton of fangirls in the school so his office is always crowded.

Stuff happens, MC gets bullied by the girls, the FL and the school Prince. And MC has a hard time fighting off the Hosts emotions, cause apparently her soul is weak. It's super annoying to slog through.

She also gets slapped and kicked out of the family by her dad, who's a complete scumbag. The mom's scum too, and MC get's a quest to find her Hosts real identity, cause apparently she's adopted. That never really goes anywhere.

Of course everyone hears about her getting kicked out, cause scumbag dad told the news. So the bullying continues even more. Also School Prince gets even more annoying.

MC decides to learn self defence, and spends all her free time training, while slowly failing at her schoolwork, since MC hasn't been to school since she got sick at 15 and doesn't understand a thing.

More bullying, and fighting with the FL. MC gets attacked by the bullies again, but can fight back cause of the taekwando.

She follows the FL after school and sees her drain a guy or something and then hides in terror.

One day she find the School Doctor armed and bleeding on her couch. She's forced to help him. And thus starts the MCs trait of loosing 50 IQ whenever she encounters doctors.

Later she pesters School Doctor until he agrees to help her so she doesn't die against FL, and finds out he's interested in FL. He gives her a gun and the adress of a probably illegal shooting range, where she learns how to use it.

Stuff happens. FL confronts her about not being the original Host and is about to take out her soul, when MC defends herself with her gun. Which pisses FL off. MC keeps shooting and FL runs away and is picked up by ML in his car, a criminal or something we don't see him before now.

School Doctor shows up in his car, grabs MC and they follow after ML and FL through town and into a building. They find a bomb which the Doctor disarms and grabs, and keep going deeper after the main couple. They have a stand off in the most annoying scene in this entire novel, while the bomb is ticking cause Doc didn't actually disarm it and he wants to kidnap FL from ML. Basically MC stands in front of the open undefended door going "Hey do you think maybe we should run from this bomb that's gonna kill us all? no? you sure? I think we should" for the entire confrontation.

They don't die but ML and FL get away and they have to run from MLs henchmen.

Stuff goes back to normal, npcs and leads are super annoying. Eventually MC has enough, slaps FL and beats up School Prince. Then fulfills the goal of getting Prince away from FL by showing her sexing up the other princes.

Then goes to the Doc to tell him about the 3p between FL and the princes cause she thinks he's in love with FL. He takes that chance to go kidnap FL, while MC watches.

And she follows him to a secret passage in the nurse office that leads to his secret lab. Turns out he just wanted FL to dissect her and figure out her cultivation powers.

MC gets sent off some unimportant stuff with School Prince happens. Then she get's the option to leave, and thats the end of that world.

At Ch 61 the MC is back in the space between worlds. And after that it's time for world/arc 2.

[collapse]

That summary was way too long, and probably no good, but way shorter than the 61 chapters you'd have to read otherwise.

Aaanyways! Besides arc 1. I really like this novel. The really annoying characters get faceslapped properly, and a lot sooner in the later worlds. And MC is a good clever character when she's not loosing IQ for a certain reason. Though I don't think I'd like some of the arcs if I actually had to wait for updates. <<less

It's a "face-slapping" centered story. Seriously, DON'T THINK TOO HARD.

Looking for a light-hearted, s*upid, op MC with no mushy-mushy "main ml" in a system kind of story? Look no more further!

This story takes on many usual trope of LN and proceed to mock them one by one. Personally think that this one is better than "side character transmigration", at least up to this point. The MC is op, but not world-shattering op kind that can level a whole... more>> castle with a flick of a finger. And so, there's still some tension-filed crisis moments!!

Or... sort of?

Anyway, it's an enjoyable read for me. Yes, most of the characters are flimsy 1-d. And yes, some of the character seems to have low IQ but that's to be expected in this genre. But if you're looking for face-slapping, silly, dont-think-to-much system kind of story with a hella independent MC that doesn't really need to depend on an "ml", this WN is definitely a must read. <<less

Got through 1st arc. What a mess / (ò.ó) ┛彡┻━┻ If you are reading this, you need to pack a lot of patience. O (╥﹏╥) o

Spoiler

Arc 1 - Modern School Setting

I feel so sorry for her, She seems so sweet innocent very child like thrown into different worlds full of strangers. She got beat up time and time again, physically mentally and emotionally. She got no help whatsoever from the system who by the way transferred her to the wrong world (midlevel when shes just starting, who). She got beat up by her father, thrown and disowned by the family. She got ridiculed and humiliated. She doesnt know anything, no skills, no education, no nothing.

This is just too sad.

Arc 2 DONE!!! - Ancient China

General / Emperor's Sister

So much better than the first arc.
Bet its because she's a princess and her brother, the emperor cares for her deep deep inside.

She's got more finesse and she's awesome here!!

love the bloodbath and the gore wuohohohoho ?

Shes fierce and so so awesome!!! Girl power
≥﹏≤

Arc 3 - Discarded Wife of the CEO

Please leave your brains before take off, you wont need it to where you're going ̄へ ̄

Arc 4 - Apocalypse

I skipped this one, since I always ended up dropping it for weeks. Tried reading this a couple of times but was so bored. Will just get back on this one

Arc 5 - Bizarre Harem

THIS. This is comedy gold ???
