I must say I really enjoy slice of life written by Lazy Cliche. In this novel, the pacing and plot is really interesting although certainly there is quite a flaw (if you want to call it that way) in the main idea (music).

Before we get to the "flaw", I think we need to think about the characters in the novel. Each character has their personality that was shaped both innately and through experience, and rarely do they go out of character. Fang Zhao, the protagonist in the novel is basically... more>> an old man, and he does act like one. Unlike novels that have MC suddenly dating the kids, the MC in this novel often encounters himself in situations where he needs to take care of the kids.

For the plot, I really enjoy how the conflict keeps escalating to a bigger level, even when this is a slice of life. I also enjoy the sci-fi part of this novel that comes in mid to later part of the novel, especially when things get explained and there is somewhat logic behind developments or past events. Although I see some reviews saying that the ending is too abrupt and unsatisfying, I think it really ties up the story nicely and we get enough just to infer on how things will go. If it were dragged any longer, it would not have been as good because we already reached the peak and somewhat a final goal at the last chapter.

And the only con that I can think of here is that the music part of the story. As MC is a composer, we get to see or imagine the music scene through description instead of listening it. To be honest, I really cannot relate to this as when I listen to music (live or recorded), it never really became to what was described. But if you think about it, when we read food related novels, we also don't get to taste the food but imagine it. It's just food is something that we experience everyday by everyone, but live concerts with symphony is more niche thus less relatable. This is why I considered it a "flaw" instead of a real flaw.

People may say that MC is bland, unchanging, etc., but I think the MC also had a character growth in a sense of healing journey, and we get to see the process and what he thinks about the New Era. I do somewhat agree that MC can be said as perfect aka Gary Stu as he never did anything wrong, but I don't really mind this as much.

If there were romance....

Spoiler

I think Yu Hua is a really perfect match because she also had lived longer than normal human lifespan even by the standards of New Era. We know her grandpa lives 400 years ago and was able to see her, so I assume she is also about 100-150 (?) at least, and both she and Fang Zhao see each other as peers instead of grandkids. Plus, their lifespan seems to match, their ideas of making things bigger and better for humankind, and also music appreciation (!)... I do think they will make a great power couple. It's just too bad Fang Zhao in the end didn't let her know about his past... at least yet. lol

Overall, I really think this is a well written story, and I look forward to reading more works by this author! <<less

Died in the 99th year of Apocalypse n Reborn 500 years later, MC accidentally show off his skill by appreciating life

The novel is more slice of life w Mature n kick ass MC due to long age n Apocalypse but he doesn't bully n most face slapping is done by other peoples

Additionally the novel isquite rueful when talking bout MC dead companion but using it as muse in composing music as he's living his dream as composer

The music description is amazing enough to give me goosebumps from the description n... more>> whole novel though center around music move to military n gaming too

Similar novel where Mature MC gets to chill from previous harsh life via Transmigration or Reborn w badass past life exp: ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY ACTING EMPEROR <<less

I was one of its early readers when it first came out on webnovel. After 3 years of on and off reading due to life and waiting for the next chapter, I have finally completed this fantastic novel and I don't regret spending my coins on it.

If I have to say what attracts me in this novel is the way author manages to successfully instill burning passion of progress towards the future and captures the loneliness of Fang Zhao, the sole person reincarnated from the Destruction Era, as he sees... more>> the progress of mankind after 500 years since the end of Apocalypse. It's a humbling experience, to say the least. He finally has the opportunity to pursue his lifelong dream as a composer, yet no one he knew from Destruction Era is there to witness. I have to admit that the novel can be expanded further but the ending leaves us the readers more room to imagine what his life can be.

Spoiler

I do hope there's an explanation as to how he was reincarnated 500 years in the future. The author only expanded on Curly Dog's origins but it doesn't really explain about his circumstances. The ending chapter's title really indicates what a lonely existence Fang Zhao really is, especially when he visited the Cemetery of Martyrs to reminisce about the past as the whole world is about to embark on a new space exploration age. If only there's someone beside him (not Curly Hair lol) to share the burden, it would be perfect.

[collapse]

For those still hesitating, do give this a chance. It's full of unpredictable twists and yet, Fang Zhao is very calm as he faces different challenges at every turn. This 'grandfather' is very patient as he teaches the kids what it means to be a superstar. <<less

I just really like it because of the smooth and steady flow of the novel. It's just that the ending is very abrupt.

The premise is also very new and interesting for me. And the fact that it's written well enough makes it even better.

It's also 500+ chapters so a nice way to kill a lot of time.

Well I have read this novel several times and at some point will do it agen. Its just truly good novel.

MC dies in apocalys war at its 99 year when he is about 120 years old or so. Basically the war is almost over when he dies. Then he wakes up 500 years in the future as a young man who just graduated musick conservatory. Now he has oportunity to live in peaceful time and fulfill his dreem before the war to be composer.

Now the op wargeneral wants to experience... more>> all the peaceful future can offer. So this novel has several arcs how he goes about it. As composer, as virtual gamer in game that tries to recreate apocalyps that he knows better than anyone alive, as new army recruit in oblicatory 1 year term, as actor who plays his past self and so on. Its very fun read how the young looking old war general thinks and acts and how other people look at it.

Only wish I have is that I would find other books like this. Very much recomended read! <<less

It's a fun read for about 2/3rds of the story. There's some real lulls where the only thing happening in the story is the MC winning awards and people being amazed at how great he is. Lots of praising of the MC, which I found annoying.

There's some good side characters in the story. Great Grandpa Fang was hilarious.

The ending is a bit rushed, which I didn't mind as the story was wearing thin.

This novel is really good and I enjoyed reading it.

It’s a slice of life novel. So everything goes well for the main lead. Fang Zhao is bae. It is funny, plot is good and the characters are great.

The Bad Parts:

... more>> The story ended in a way that makes me think that there will be a part two. That ending was so abrupt.

Novel left me with questions that need answers:

1. Who is the mysterious fan, that remains anonymous, that keeps purchasing all the things Fang Zhao auctions off?

2. Will he get married? The novel ended so quickly that Fang Zhao was never able to get into a relationship, get married and have children.

3. What will happen to Curly Hair? Will he keep evolving? Will his secret get found out?

I have more questions but those 3 are the most pressing ones. <<less

I really enjoyed this novel - interesting, satisfying and incredibly humorous.

Plot line was pretty decent - not the greatest but definitely unique in it's own way. Seeing how the MC maneuvered his way throughout the world 500 years later and adapting to all the changes and trends of the era was all very intriguing. There was action, suspense and plenty of plot twists which keeps the readers captivated - in addition, adding on to the many comedic moments was a plus to the appeal of the overall story.

Characters wise, it... more>> was also quite well done. Just that, I don't really see much development or progression in the majority of characters hence I'm not really attached to them - aside from the pet dog of our MC (he's too cute and I absolutely loved his own little developments and journey xd).

What dissatisfied me the most was just probably some plot holes that wasn't addressed - such as
Spoiler

The mystery behind with how exactly the MC transmigrated as well as to why Curly Hair the dog was at the scene during that time etc etc

[collapse]
I also feel that the ending was quite rushed and the author could have used many plot points to expand the story a bit more to make it all the more appealing and better.

All in all, the novel makes quite a good light hearted read as there is barely any angst or that much of a dramatic moment since everything pretty much goes very smoothly for our MC (but I guess that's bc he's been through the apocalyptic times...?). There's also just the right amount of humor and the premise of the story was also fairly interesting, therefore I totally recommend you to read this~ =>o^ <<less

This novel is like a more mellow version of I really am a Super Star. I actually really enjoyed it, up until the author suddenly decided he wanted to end the novel. It didn't feel organic at all. I think it was one of those situations where either the author got bored of this novel, or something in his life happened and he couldn't continue writing. Thus, he had to write about 3 chapters that ended the novel quickly. If I didn't know how many pages were left in the... more>> book itself, I would have been frozen in shock when the novel ended. That's why I've given it only a 3. So many unanswered questions. <<less

One of the best novels out there.

It isn't insanely funny nor is it packed with action but you will definitely be entertained.

I would consider it to be a very well written slice of life novel, recommend everyone to read it.

A very long update, the main character can fix everything, and control the spaceship and write songs, etc.. And so, good work is pleasant to almost everything, I recommend reading it.

Guys with 2 stars, have you come to the right place? Of course, I myself like to put 2 stars, but there is a normal logical explanation for this... In particular, if I read a Chinese novel, I do not expect the author of the level "The Star Kings" or "Sherlock Holmes", it is enough just to have a plot,... more>> develop at least one branch of the narrative, and the absence of a harem (well, this is for me personally). And here I read the reviews - "Lack of motivation, not enough character development, no one changes, etc. Well, what can I say, you are reading an easy web novel, so be so kind as to correspond... It's like giving 2 stars to Coca - Cola for the absence of woody notes, a weak bouquet and the absence of a 65 year bottle in stock... <<less

I have no words left to say about this story. It was amazing! I have followed the translations since wayy before it's complete and let me tell you, this is a hidden gem. Very light story with Male protagonist. This type of story should be kinda bland, but not this one. I love how the face slapping is done because in here, the reaction from face slapping is written from another bystander pov, hence the novel feeling. This novel has no romance, no dog blood plot, and etc but somehow... more>> still makes my day. Reading this will. Make you relax, laugh, and generally very happy. The MC is like a walking coi carp and there was no big conflicts.

I Just felt kinda sorry for the rushed ending, But it's still okay because I think it was good to end it there. Big kudos to author! <<less

Finally finished the entire series..

I must say this is one of my few favorites. This novel is one you'll either love or hate it..

There really aren't any chapters I could consider highlights of the story except for his first masterpieces & subsequent concerts. Most of the times it is smooth sailing that others might consider it boring, well the MC is pretty much a Gary sue. So consider that before you start reading this novel.

My only complaint is the somewhat lackluster ending & rushed way to fillup some plots, maybe... more>> I was hoping for a 1000 chapters but it ended early. But maybe it's for the best as prolonging the story would make it more repetitive or just ruin the good story..

All in all I definitely recommend this to those who are looking for OP MC in a slice of life setting. Don't look for this if you are after action scenes. <<less

I read this a while back. I wont put much for the review as I havent read for a while, but this is seriously one of the few 5 stars I ever gave on this site, the book is written and translated amazingly. The MC is a composer who lived 100 years through the apocalpyse only to die right before it finally ended, and then reincarnated a few hundred years later at the place he had died. Again I wont out much since all I can think of is spoilers... more>> due to me not reading it recently but its a really good novel. However updates are slow <<less

The novel is about an OP MC and the story is pretty much just descriptions of how good he is at everything he does. There isn't much interpersonal drama aside from the first part (before he becomes famous).

MC's goal is to get better at composing and everything else is just a side note. That said, the author's descriptions of music is really very cool. It makes you wish you can hear the music in reality.

About the ending

Spoiler

Surprisingly abrupt. I thought the author could stretch out the story even more, but it's a good enough ending.
