“Evelyn, we don’t need you anymore. Get out of this country immediately.”

The Saint, Evelyn was suddenly told that one day.

Evelyn, who has been praying for her country at the temple since she was five years old, is now twenty-eight years old.

Evelyn’s former fiancé, Alex, the First Prince, and her sister, Mary, ridicule her.

“How pathetic of a woman to be late getting married after her magic has weakened!”

(Late marriage… that’s because you broke off your engagement with me last year and got engaged to my sister, remember?)

Evelyn has been expelled from both the temple and her family home, leaving her to fend for herself. The only thing she has left is her weakened magic power.

Evelyn lives for the day, using her healing magic, but an encounter with a man changes her life forever.

“I’m glad you’re not married yet… It’s the only reason we’re here.”

(That’s not fair to say!)

A former Saint uses her healing magic diligently everyday, while being pampered by a sweet young Count and adored by the people.

—By the way, I was wondering if my magic power is really weakening.

First things first, there's two versions of this novel one on Syosetu the other on Alpha Polis. The one on AP is significantly longer and should be avoided for just that reason.

This novel was plain bad, the only redeeming feature was its brevity. Even so it was still a painful read. A very painful read. The writing was both bad and childish. The plot boring and predictable. The characters cliche and s*upid. Finally for a comedy there just weren't any laughs. A comedy without laughs is just sad

Read this on crack or high.

Written like a fanfiction, the protagonist becomes the innocent Mary Sue surrounded by a cast of worshipping supporting characters. Literally.

Spoiler

At the end, they hold an 'Evelyn Festival' where attendees can take a picture at a booth with the fallen Prince Alex who wears a sign saying 'I'm sorry I did wrong'. Mary, the white lotus? She has a booth treating hangnails.

Also, there's a character who wants to 'breathe the air coming from Evelyn's lips' and opens a rabid fan club.

All of these details are unironic. That's the best bit. If I can write like that and get published, sign me up please. <<less

starts out with the cookie-cutter "real saint denounced as a fake" storyline but almost immediately devolves into ~40 tiring chapters of nonstop gag comedy sketches and slapstick jokes.

the title is misleading bc MC wasn't doted on by a count,

Spoiler

ML's dad is the count, ML is only the "young master." there's no romance at all because his character is a "cherry boy." aside from being constantly awkward and infatuated, he isn't distinguishable from any other mob character because

every person in the country (not just ML) worships MC to an insanely fanatical cult-like degree, where

    • ~60 people in one town named their kids or legally renamed themselves to have the exact same name as MC
    • every priest in the temple was jealous of the other priests interacting with MC, so in order to be fair to everyone, they kept a pact where everyone ignored or kept their distance from MC
    • children repeatedly refer to MC as "angel onee-san" throughout the story
    • at the "Evelyn-sama Festival, "
foods/items have word pun names riffing off of "Evelyn-sama, " and there is an exclusive fighting tournament where only 400 lucky lottery winners get the chance to beat up their "love rivals" to prove whose love for MC is superior
    • multiple characters are overjoyed that they literally breathe the same air as MC (this is not an exaggeration)
    • when the fake saintess decided to put on a public show to announce herself as the next saintess, her fraudulent identity was known to everyone from the very beginning because not a single person in the crowd believed her for even a second
    • MC is so OP, she unknowingly used her powers to save several other countries while simultaneously doing her normal daily prayers, so she only seemed to be growing weak because her body couldnt physically keep up with her expanding powers, and later a lot of foreign emissaries made pilgrimages just to thank her in person
      [collapse]
overall a lighthearted read, just dont take anything seriously.

also weirdly, it's mentioned several times by multiple characters that MC is 28 y/o with the physical appearance of an 18 y/o, like it's some sort of inherent praise. A bit creepy/fetishizing. <<less

The story is fine if you look for a light comedy, but not if you prefer a serious story. Also, the setting is all over the place.

Good points

  • The story is short, pacing fast
  • The story is cute, without worrying about unnecessary drama
    Spoiler

The little kids she helped are so cute believing she was a real angel<3

    [collapse]
  • Good reading when you are bored
  • She ends up with a good guy
    Spoiler

I appreciate that since he is the only character who fall in love for Evelyn the girl, and not Evelyn, the saint

    [collapse]
Bad points

  • The setting is completely flawed
    Spoiler
    • Evelyn is exiled because her power has a saint is decreasing, but we learn that healing power is rare so even if she can't be a saint, she still really useful, exiled her is s*upid.
    • Evelyn is fiance to the crown prince, but we learn that the job of a saint is to pray 8 hours per day to purify the miasma in the kingdom. That incompatible with working as a queen
    • Evelyn doesn't seem to have been educated, she is the saint and a noble daughter, but completely clueless of everything except her power and duty (that also is even more complicated for the future queen).
    • While Evelyn is being revered as a saint and extremely popular with the priests and people, no one ever draw her face or anything. It's strange that the face of the only person able to keep the country safe isn't known, just for history's sake.
    • We learn that the saint is usually active for 5 to 10 years. That imply they need to change the saint regularly. The church should have multiple saint candidate in training to replace Evelyn.
    • Evelyn is so popular that the people made a festival in her name, and probably more than one, since the one in the story is called "Evelyn summer festival". But somehow, her fiance didn't know that she was so important and popular
    • Also, Evelyn's sister Mary doesn't really understand the job as a saint either while she wishes to replace her, in a country where the saint is seen as more important than the king himself.
    • Mary almost being executed as soon as she claims to be the saint by the public, but her family literary made a status of Mary with the name of Evelyn in their garden, gaining money from citizens, tourists and Pelegrin for years and the church did nothing.
    [collapse]
  • Most of the characters have basically the same personality (being a fan of Evelyn)
  • The entire plot rest on the fact that 2 idiots does something s*upid, everyone knows there were s*upid, but did nothing to monitor them

It's crude. It's cliched. It's overdone. It's childish. But I guess if its not broken, don't fix it?

Probably biased rating cos I was already bored out of my mind when reading/rating this.

(Personally I wanna give this 2.5)

... I was expecting more. This is like a good fanfic that could be awesome but went the wrong way and is almost horrible to read.

Entertaining, but not recommended.

This is a light hearted read. Don't expect much and it is definitely not my first pick.

Spoiler

Basically the MC is a naive person who has been a saint for 23 years. One day suddenly the 1st prince, her fiancé tells her she is no longer a saint and asks her to leave the country. He replaces her with her half sister. The penniless MC starts earning money by using her healing magic and she meets several people along the way. Finally it turns out all the people in the country are crazy for the saint. The craziness portrayed is beyond common sense.

I guess it's just a matter of taste because, unlike the previous review, I laugh all the time while reading this. Maybe because my sense of humour is crude and childish, I don't know. Either way, it's funny. The plot is acceptable. Sure, the writer used the generic template but he/she also put his/her own twist on it so it's not that bad. Lastly, the characters are indeed cliche but again, with a twist. I love how there are so many screws loose everywhere. So, all in all, it's a... more>> good one for me... at least, until chapter 25. Then it goes downhill. It seems like the writer tried too hard to make it funny that it's not even funny anymore. Everything else is still fine though. <<less
