Translation quality is exceptional; I'm able to read it just fine.

Story itself is also very entertaining; a straight-woman character gets caught up in important peoples business and is very funny reading her reactions.

An enjoyable read until c28.

From that point it becomes unreadable. Unclear who is talking. Things are happening but it is hard to tell how or why. Names change spelling frequently.

Can't tell if this a drop in writing or translation. Maybe both? Dropped at this point and that is a shame.

The FL is a "random" girl, which the author treats as meaning "I can do whatever I want with her at any random point in time." The FL has no consistent character. Sometimes, she doesn't say the important things because of status differences, while sometimes she interrupts the king and says the randomest comments. Imagine a woman at work who is generally quiet and slightly below average at her job, but suddenly starts shouting and headbutting the company higher ups. If she had an enjoyable personality normally, maybe she'd get... more>> off with a laugh, but IMO the FL comes across as disturbing and chaotic instead.

The other MLs are also just the weirdest. The knight commander uncle keeps trying to kill or maim his nephew Solel, and the king has no problem sharing national secrets or gifting national treasures to the FL despite her explicit disapproval. That's not cool, that's psychotic, IMO, but maybe others might see differently? <<less

It's quite good and humorous.

The problem probably lies in the fact that... something thrown out of blue. No foreshadow at all, especially the two cases of

the twins of the Empire and the green haired man and Rurutia's former organizations. Well, the latter was foreshadowed once tho, but still...

I fast read the novel and still feel that the scene after dragon's fes to the empire is way too fast. Like the plot jumps suddenly.

It's certainly differen than other novels, but in a good way. I don't really like slowburn romance though, so I got impatient and let's just stop at this chapters. Might get back to it again someday.

The story seemed good at first but then the translation went to shit. As a person who reads mtl s of Chinese webnovels I can say with confidence that I can hardly understand what’s happening after chapter 30.

the idea of showing"i reincarnated as the villainess" manga from the perspective of a bystander is really good and I like how the MC always manages to find herself in trouble

the novel has so many good concepts and it still fits them in one whole story PRFECTLY

note: I like almost every novel I can read past chapter 10 but this was especially funny

It's quite funny and entertaining. The MC is mostly a normal girl- she had bad grades, has only one normal friend and a straight man. The way she reacts to the events are very funny. She's a pushover overall.

I don't like any of the Male Characters. This might change in the future chapters, but so far they are all men that push their ideas on the MC.

Honestly a waste of time. There's nothing substantial about it. The randomness was cute at first, but became increasingly irritating as the story (or lack thereof) progressed. Characters were nothing special either. The only one I can really speak for that I found intriguing was Sara, the best friend.

Other than that it's fairly boring. To partially quote the title, I don't care, I'm dropping this.

Writing
... more>>
Spoiler

Its basically just crack writing, dialogue is like that of a fanfic you would read when your bored and just want something light, and its fine up until chapter 30, where the writing goes bizarre. While before it was primarily dialogue to dialogue, there was still enough actual inbetween context that it made sense, but then you hit here and its almost nonsensical

It's just sentence after sentence of statement, statement, question, statement, statement; no context provided. You keep going hoping it gets better but somehow it gets worse?

[collapse]

Characterisation

Spoiler

I comprehend that this is literally just light crack writing not meant to be taken seriously, but the characters have to have bare minimum likeability, and it struggled so much with that. Which is all the more bizarre with how genuinely decent it was from the get go

We keep getting introduced to characters but basically by name and feature alone if that. We get dropped into the situation without a single clue given to us and yet expected to take some kind of stance?

[collapse]

Overall the author is seemingly incapable of holding a moment, driving the reader to each point with reckless abandon and zero pit stops. It genuinely nearly sent me into a migraine

Honestly the whole thing feels like the author had an idea for some short little one shots, but was held at gun point to make some kind of narrative that could be forced into a book

It's not even a first draft, its an outline at best, haphazard bits and pieces at worst. The author doesnt seem to comprehend that for the moments they want to work, they need to have a cohesive nature and characters with clear voices. Instead it's just a mess, with the author seemingly trying to drip in lore and then upending the bucket over the reader, and instead of trying to help us, they've decided to try again with a new bucket-and ah sh*t the bucket fell time to try again

Honestly I wrote this feeling fairly ambivalent about it, but the more I typed the more I got annoyed (LOL). Kudos to the translators, I'll try and see if this gets better but I hold out no hope. I mostly wrote this because the high ratings are honestly bizarre to me for what the writing is

Spoiler

Edit: I wrote this at 33 and am now updating at 36. The writing becomes ledgible in exchange for a complete tonal shift. Becoming all dark and angst filled like a teens first foray into writing. The MC was apparently a member of an illegal organisation despite being literally 16 right now and witnessed a bunch of people die. We are given these names without any lead up, and I assume they'll disappear much the same, and then expected to mourn for them I guess?

This weird flashback that had me feeling like I'd gone back to reading reader-insert fanfic was entirely out of nowhere and I had to stop

[collapse]

Its a genuine shame because the original idea was genuinely interesting, but the author seems to be unable to resist making their character the most special <<less

It's basically a collection of POVs that I find really entertaining. lmao. The novel is written mostly in Rururia's POV, occasionally there would be POVs of those she interacted with. I love seeing both sides of the story.

MC Rururia is hilarious, she realizes how crazy her life has gotten and takes care of everything at her own pace. She actively tries to "not get involved" however, her unique personality attracts the attention of others.

I don't think we have a ML. The knight captain is trying to... ... more>>

well he likes the way she doesn't falter/run at his mu*derous pressure and he said something along the lines of "you would be my ideal woman if you trained with a sword". Basically, he is the closest to becoming the ML.

[collapse]
However he doesn't have a frequent appearance like other MLs, this novel follows Rururia. There is no romance, or, so far at least.

The story runs at its own pace, you really don't know where the story is going. If you do not like Rururia then just drop the novel, nothing will change, you'll need to like Rururia to enjoy the story. <<less

it's a funny story where a mob character is being dragged into the otome-like story of heroine vs. Villainess
good translation and light read until..

yes, there is "until" - the chapter 28 is a mark at which things become rushed, the narration become a rare occurence and we have a race between dialogs of characters where you can't be sure who is actually doing the talking and what's actually happening as actions keeps on jumping places
at chapter 37 we might even feel betrayed, cause the "mob background character MC"... more>> which drove us to this novel feels like a fake as more and more protagonist like background history is being added to our MC
those ten chapters feels like author's big mistake

with chapter 38 the narration style seem back to normal (or close to normal) and we actually know once again who is talking to whom

I wonder how it will develop further, cause my overall rating of this series already dropped once by now

Spoiler

ok, apparently author forgotten his characters specifics since Irene - who was supposed to have enough magic power to hunt a dragon (per Rurusia's words) declared herself unable to use magic (which was Rururia's unique feature)

This is so funny to read. The protagonist's naivety is funny and I like how each of the characters have their own chapter in their pov and those extras. It's fun to read.
