I don't want to spill free hate towards the author neither the translator (which has a tough job because there are a lot of phrases and poetry stuff) because author wanted to be Shakespeare. So after finishing vol 3, which was supposed to be a large scale rebellion, it was so mild that MC had the leeway to put his hand on his chin and wrinkle his eyebrows, then you continue reading and catch the phrase: "Be the truth or not, it didn't make any difference"

This phrase resumes... more>> my thoughts about all I've been reading. There are so many meaningless details and unecessary description that you begin to question if you want to continue or search something else that isn't a novel but a renowned literature. This is just a venting, 5/10. <<less

Huhhh I guess it is time for me to makes a review first I am sorry if I make any grammatical mistakes... Rather than revenge time reversal story.. It is a story about a boy who got a chanced to reverse his time n not to take revenge on the hero party bcus it was not like he hated them but just discontents with his life n instead of revenge he just want to grab his own happiness.. It is not like he didn't change his past life at all..... more>> He really changes n trying to live a correct way to live this new life without wasting his time as a commoner also he changes some people as well.. He is not gonna become world-hating-revenging hero but instead chose his way to live righteously even if that is hurting him. It is a great harem story but it also has it flaws as in the title he tries to grabs his own happiness in that harsh world while live in a righteous life as a commoner <<less

Its really slow, and I get the fact that its very annoying to see a wimpish MC;but this one here is probably one of the few novels with slow burn and pseudo-realistic development.

It almost feels like a real novel and not a power trip literature;not a really good novel mind you, but passable

The story is abit rough around the edges at the start but It start to shine around vol2. I say the story is interesting albeit sort of cliche but it still hold up.

The plot armor is a tad strong in that the main character seem to be able to prevail in someway in albeit hopeless situation. Maybe the story will tell us more about how he is able to prevail or survive in the future chapter.

This is my first time writing a review for a novel in this site. This novel is quite good in my opinion. Although lacking in some aspects such as details over major plot points which is actually the only flaw I can point out, I like how the story is progressing albeit slow paced.

I like how the MC is not like the usual and typical character of tipping the tables over with a sudden power acquired after traveling to the past. It is a more realistic take in my opinion... more>> that the author did not give the MC a cheat power of some sort after traveling back to the past (not sure if this will still be the case in the future, hopefully not) but I would like to see how he improves himself as an adventurer. The only thing I am bothered is the fact that his purpose for traveling back is to meet and whisk away his childhood friend from the ropes of the past (referring to the previous timeline where the childhood friend is interested/in love with the Hero) but I guess this is needed for him since it is his only motivation to change how his life progresses into the future.

I do not understand why some people are saying that the MC is not actually trying to change anything. The little changes seen in the personality of his former party members and their behaviour towards him are enough to be considered as proof of a change already. In this new timeline, he is able to meet two of his former party members in advance as opposed to meeting them probably when joining/forming the Hero's Party. He is given the chance to see and affect how their personalities will develop into the future based on the choices he will make involving the two.

I just hope this will not be a harem in the future (my only concern to be honest lol) <<less

This story is mostly ok. I like the dark setting so far. The problem is that major plot points appear to be missing and the flow of the narrative is an incoherent mess.

Time skips are one thing, but this author likes to jump backwards and forwards in time repeatedly in the same chapter. It gets annoying after a while.

Another problem is that, either to do unclear writing on the author's part or due to weakness of the translation, major plot details are entirely missing.

Why did Ninz agree to help Lugis?... more>> I read the chapter where they negotiated the deal three times and I still can't figure out what Lugis exactly is offering Ninz to get her to agree to provide help. How does she benefit? The chapter is full of implications and impressions, but the actual details of what is being agreed to are missing.

When Lugis's group meets up with Filaret's group for the first time, which group is being hired and which group is the employer? Half the clues in the story make it look like Lugis is hiring Filaret, and the other half indicate that Filaret is hiring Lugis. It shouldn't be so difficult to understand those kinds of plot points.

Whether the problem lies with the author or with the translator, the quality of this story suffers from the lack of detail. <<less

Thanks to the very detailed reviews, I was looking forward to reading this. Unfortunately had to bail at chapter 21. It's frustrating to read - too many points I remarked 'huh wth?!' to myself because the dialogue and/or development didn't make sense or felt jarring. I chalk this down to the spotty translation plus author's writing.

I would give it a 2, but in consideration of the fact that I'm dropping it fairly early, I'll give a 3 star to not mess with the ratings too much.

The translation is rough around the edges and the writing style in monotonous (which tbf a lot of Japanese novels struggle with). There's no cheat or level system- fine. Not using his previous life's knowledge to change things (love interest shipped off out of reach with some pretty dark undertones) - not so fine.

But the main thing is that, so... more>> far, he hasn't made any plans to drastically alter the course of his life. A minor theme to show his lack of change would be that he immediately restarts a bad habit (chewing) from his old life right away. So my problem I guess is that the MCs personality just sucks, and it doesn't look like changes are coming. <<less

Not the usual isekai/fantasy novel. Slower then other ones but it's worth reading if you are searching for a more mature take of the trope. The MC isn't op and does everything he can to survive and get to his goals, even dirtying his hands and using people. That doesn't mean he is the typical Edge Lord MC but that he is just a weak human trying to live. If you are in to a more serious fantasy where the MC isn't op from the beginning then I strongly recommend... more>> it. If you are searching for an op MC or harem or gore revenge story then this is not for you. <<less

It's quite good at the prologue alone the author clearly state the suffering of the MC and this isn't a typical revenge story as what the MC wants is a happy life. I really like how the author wrote the revenge part instead of killing everyone of them, the author is exploring why are the heroines acted that way towards the MC before he came back in time. Does that mean that what they did to the MC before he came back in time all forgiven? Of course not but... more>> it shows that those characters aren't just one dimensional characters that just torments the MC because they are written that way and they are just some kind of static character that was created to torment the MC. They have complicated backgrounds why they acted that way and MC doesn't act dumb all the time, yes sometimes he was controlled by his emotions and rage but at the end of the day MC knew what he is doing.

I will edit this as I read the story

Spoiler

This comment is from Vontes the prologue and can be found in TOMO translation website which sums up what my feelings in that scene. Since I'm rooting for the MC.

"MC already lost since the beginning of the race even if he regressed to the past. Even if he stole hero's harem members, there exist this chapter original timeline where those harem members are getting railed every night by hero. Kinda depressing."

The heroines has some sort of issues that they didn't resolve that's why they acted that way to the MC before he went back in time.

Caria - The silver haired knight has an extreme daddy issue, her father wanted a male heir but since he got a daughter he despise her, and all Caria wanted was the approval of her father, and it shows that no matter the accomplishment of Caria her father wouldn't approve her for the fact that she is a woman. MC stood up for her when she is being scolded and belittle by her father because MC doesn't want people to belittle others when they are making efforts and MC was nearly executed but Caria save him from being executed.

Filaret - The black haired sorceress has an inferiority complex, as her family is a well known family of magicians and all of her siblings are really talented, she couldn't be like her siblings and in the eyes of her family and other people she was a failure, yes she could do things but not unlike the other sorceress, it's no means that she has not talented it's just that because of her family and the expectations of people even if she puts an effort she couldn't get out of that inferiority complex that she is a failure, (the reason why Filaret "fell in love" or maybe technically not in love but maybe using is the right word with Hero before time skipped is because he is the one that she wants to become, he is like a sun and if she was by his side she will shine too.) MC literally burned to death for her, for her to come out of that inferiority complex and for her to realize that she has a talent.

If u guys only into the spicy OP shit, lv 999, or cheating skill or OP Main character that cringe af or some of that generic isekai tr*sh, then this novel is not for you. Cuz in this novel, there is only reality and reality literally suck, and that is the best thing about this novel, only read if you really want to know what is it mean to be a hero in real life, what is the meaning of being an hero ?

"If there is a god that is... more>> not good for me, then why should I believe in him."

"Death itself will cling to us at some point then why don't we live to welcome death with a smile when we die"

"For "him", to believe means to put his life in the hands of someone and be willing to die for it. In that sense, God is not worth believing in at all."

One of my most amazing read ever in this year, finished the web novel, I legit cried at the ending, Lugis shall be the most badass heroes that I ever seen in a story, well done, a masterpiece, you guys will learn a lot about reality through this book, I hope you all may find this novel worth reading, but for me, I did, this novel may be the best novel I ever read, pure good and sometimes hilarious, it goes very emotional at the ending, but the ride was worth it, and worth the wait, I thank you for everything, author and A wish to happiness to the hero himself and the reader that managed to finish this entire series, 10/10 <<less

Lots of potential, But writing becomes subpar with winding conversations and monologue. The premise is interesting and the arcs as the bigger picture but the execution in time jumps seems to be not for revealing a larger concept but just a mechanism that's there.

It doesn't make your heart pump with passion it bores you to death with some hooks to keep you reading in interval. I give it a generous 3 starts.

Finally caught up with the translations, and I'm gonna be honest I'm glad I ignored the people saying the MC doesn't change anything, or that hes a wimp and classic beta male. The author clearly put a lot of thought into each character, and the story, and I loved how you could see the changes accumulating to become big (in later chapters). I'm tempted to read on with google translate, but I have to stop myself because that would probably ruin a lot of the meaning. NOTE:... more>>
Spoiler

from where I am, the MC still is stuck in his past (which is a downside, for me), and I honestly don't know how long it will take him to accept the heroines feelings, hoping it will be soon.

P.S. I thought I saw some people talking sh*t about one of the heroines, Caria (silver haired girl), so let me just say,
Spoiler

she plays a bit role later on and gets the development she deserved, so give her a chance (just like Matia, the saint by Lugis's side).

I quite liked this at the beginning even wishing for the chapters to never stop coming, but around chapter eighty or so I noticed that it felt somewhat strange in the way the wording was arranged. As if it took the plot so overly serious that it gets annoying.

The feelings of the characters and the way they describe the situations around them just feel as if it was trying to hard that this is all seriousness within a 'realistic' world.

It tries so hard that its attempts make it seem fake... more>> and is just not so enjoyable anymore.

I'll wait and see if this gets better but this is more of a problem I have with the author's style so don't take me seriously. <<less
