The character reaction and the choices they make just become too unrealistic and anime like for me, the more you read.

Randomly transported people from our world just happen to include:, Gov. experiment test subject w/ IQ 200+, Assassin (killua-like) / Super hacker, uber traitors... If these people are close to an average random person, than damn, my circle of friends is just too small.

Cliche lines like 'I'll protect everyone' and one dimensional 'thugs' who test the MC before knowing anything... just because.

Spoiler

Anyone who wakes up in a strange place surrounded by strangers would logically try to understand 'why?' right! (nope, not here - just wake up and challenge the MC or run randomly out the door after being told danger exist outside... just because...

Fantasy is one thing. But if you are basing characters off elements of our actual modern world, be semi-realistic... Had promise but I couldn't continue reading. <<less

I can't read this as it gets translated because it's just so good. You have to read it in its entire volume (whole movie) and then stop right away otherwise you keep wanting more. At the start I didn't like it that much because he revives some chick that died and then they do you know and EVERYONE starts bringing in grills outta no where to fix their lust. Although I did make it sound like it's a super bad thing, it's honestly whatever because if I was in that... more>> situation I wouldn't have any points for upgrades :^).

Fast forward a couple volumes and we get tragedy, that is all I can say. The way that it happens and just everything about it just made me want to give this a 25 star out of 0.1. (So like 250 stars out of 1) The upgrades that happen at the end keep me intrigued to the point where I will just read the first couple of chapters to see the movie and upgrades, well at least thats what I tell myself. Then I read another volume... Now here I am waiting for more chapters so I can read to my hearts content for a day.

So pretty much what it contains is:
Intriguing plot
Cool side characters
Likable MC
Movies!!
and well fights! <<less

The story is quite long and complicated. The characters are interesting and up to some point, realistic. A little too much patriotism coming from the author but I somehow got used to it. I'd recommend it to everyone at least up to volume 10. After that.. It gets quite tiresome to read.

I enjoyed the story a lot until volume 14, at which point I ended up dropping it, but I still kept my rating fairly high (4) because it was very fun while it lasted. For starters, while others are tr*shing the author's lack of inspiration in re-using old Hollywood movies rather than inventing his own stuff, I personally couldn't care less about this type of plagiarism, because the end result was original and GRIPPING.

In fact, considering how unoriginal and poorly done most Hollywood movies are (ex.: The Mummy, Starship Troopers, Resident Evil, etc.), I would say that the author mostly did an excellent job of taking those dumb crappy movies full of flat characters and turning them into living worlds with engaging characters and excellent tension.

Unfortunately, the author then went and wrecked the key sources of tension in his novel, and worse:
Spoiler

Once you discover that the teammates can be resurrected, all the tension disappears, because at that point you know that
1. The MC will res all his dead teammates (so their dying meant nothing)
2. The author obviously cares way too much about these teammates and will not let anything else happen to them from that point on.

From then on, the novel should have been renamed 'Terror NOT', since everyone the author cares about is obviously under complete and total plot armor.

To make matters worse, the dumb author actually uses a TIME SKIP to jump over the part of the story where most of the team are wiped out by by Team Devil! How did they all die, what was said, how it was done, and how much hate and resentment the team should have towards their nemesis: all of this is skipped by the author!!!

Even more annoying for me was the fact that the super-annoying white-knight teammate got resurrected along with the rest. As other reviewers have mentioned, the teammates are just 2D caricatures who never evolve, so any character flaws are there to stay.

So the dumb white-knight is that guy who does everything for any/all hot babes, no matter how lame it is for a man to be constantly used by women with NOTHING TO SHOW FOR IT. If the MC was a real friend, he might sit his buddy down at some point and explain how his 'defend women at all costs and in all circumstances' just means this dude is going to get used by them his whole life, without ever even being attractive to them at all (because women not-so-secretly despise massive saps).

It's universally recognized that Terror Infinity is the pioneer of the Unlimited Flow genre. It might have its drawbacks, but which pioneer doesn't? My review takes into account the time at which this book came out, thus some factors might no longer be applicable today. The worldbuilding is comprehensive, the worldview is acceptable and the power system is pretty novel. The strengths of this book lie in its suspense and the intense battles that keep the reader constantly hooked. Reading about characters trying to reconstruct a notable (usually deadly) scene... more>> in a renowned movie is also intriguing. The plot moves very fast and in unexpected ways, where people constantly have to struggle between life and death.

The main character, Zheng Zha, embodies what I would call the "classic structure" of a main character in the Unlimited Flow genre. He starts out as a normal guy and later grows into a team leader that will do anything to protect his teammates. Not gonna lie that he's a bit too 圣母 (self-sacrificing), which may be annoying to some. For supporting characters, characterization might be considered a bit lacking if you compare to the standards of today, but I appreciate that they are not obnoxiously 2D. My favorite character is Chu Xuan, who has superintelligence that surpasses humans, with no emotion, no feeling, no affection. It's this character who heightens the brain cell-burning aspect of the story and makes it a lot smarter.

I personally won't comment much on the romance, because I am honestly not impressed, ouch.

In short, the Pros are: Refreshing ideas (when this book first came out), great battles, likable characters (at least Chu Xuan is), intense emotions, engaging suspense.

The Cons: As said, this novel came out a while back and new generations of readers may not appreciate certain values it presents. The ending is open because there are still parts 2 and 3. Also, some say that the supporting characters are more well-liked than the main character haha.

I think those who are Unlimited Flow lovers should check out this one. You might like it or hate it, but to be fair, for a book that gives rise to one of the most popular genres of today, Terror Infinity deserves its praise. <<less

I expected more from a series with such fame. This series doesn’t really have any strong points... It’s a fan fiction collage of a bunch of movies with poor writing for action scenes. The suspense isn’t there, no matter how many characters the writer kills off. No one has much character depth. The MC himself has a background that is told rather than shown (never a good thing in a story), and his past doesn’t influence his present much at all.

The first arc was interesting. After that, it began... more>> to go downhill pretty fast, especially during the second arc.

The MC is a bonafide pe*ophile who r*pes a fifteen-year-old girl. They’ve got history together, and she was created as his s*x toy, but WTF? They didn’t even talk beforehand, not even to explain what’s going on... He just grabs her and forces himself on her, even though she is based on someone he knew from his past and he cared for her. Forget love, that's not even basic kindness or courtesy.

The MC may have a mild intellectual impairment since he was able to work just fine but is extremely gullible, repeatedly trusting the people who have betrayed him again and again without learning anything from it. His teammates continue to blindly follow him like a bunch of lemmings without advising him when he’s doing something dumb, so there aren’t any characters who come across as being intelligent or witty. There is one whose extreme arrogance and history make it seem like the author may have intended to have him come across as a Gary Stu smart person, but he’s definitely not that way. Despite the author’s intentions to make him an intellectual character, he makes obvious mistakes based on the first rule anyone studying sciences learn: you only know what you know, and you don’t know anything more than you know. There is always more to learn. Instead, he repeatedly assumes he knows everything, even when their scenario is different from the movie he’s using as a reference, and he spouts out BS statics with no research or backing to base them on. Worse, no one even points out this obvious nonsense and seems completely enthralled by it. Statistics don’t work like that! When this character asks an obvious question that no one else bothered to ask about, he’s praised as a genius. In order to make him look more intelligent, the author just made all the other characters even dumber than before...

Spoiler

The descriptions for the biology of this character’s brain are consistent with people who have antisocial personality disorder (no/little response to punishment) and a recent history of extensive opioid use (inability to feel pleasure due to the pruning of certain receptors in the brain). However, the writer acts like this is something new. There are plenty of real-life examples that would be easy to look up and could add plenty of depth and realism to the character, but they’re completely ignored.

[collapse]

Memory is not equivalent to IQ. They are two completely separate things.

The character design is weak and inconsistent. The original leader of the main group, Jie, loses all of his leadership qualities pretty quickly just so the MC can outdo him. The strategy-based writer in the beginning abruptly becomes a whining, clinging, weakling who can’t defend herself and keeps trying to seduce the MC, even though she knows he’s taken. The side characters are all indistinct except for one defining trait like “sniper, ” “teenager, ” or “big b**bs.”

Spoiler

Although the MC becomes a vampire and a chi-user, he doesn’t have any vampire-like characteristics—he doesn’t drink blood, isn’t bothered by sunlight, and acts like a regular human. He doesn’t practice any meditation or cultivation for his chi either. It feels like these traits were just dumped on him to make him stronger while the author completely ignored the character development that should have grown from it. Why not just give him a generic super serum or something then?

[collapse]

A lot of things in the story just don’t make sense or are directly contradictory to what a recent paragraph said or explained... An obvious one early on is when the MC has a training schedule that leaves him with only eight hours to sleep, bathe, relax, and get ready for the next day, but he still has plenty of time to hang out and watch movies with the underage girlfriend he created as a s*x doll.

There is little imagery in the story. Most of it is focused on weirdly hyper-focused descriptions about b**bs on women other than the MC’s girlfriend, which doesn’t suit the genres of this series. If the writer wanted it to be ecchi, then why not make it ecchi from the start?

Overall, I can't recommend this series. It's just a bunch of random things without any originality, and it has to depend on the copyrighted intellectual material of other creators to even have a plot. There isn't any direction in regards to the development of abilities or characters, and there's nothing to make this story exciting or interesting. It would be so easy to improve, but it's just bad. This could have been written so much better. <<less

This novel it's the first of its template, the "infinity" template.

On this novel the MC tries to survive several movies world while returning to a base world for upgrade while the author tries to survive the amount of lawsuits that publishing this novel might cause outside of china.

Overall it's a great novel with a great start and a somewhat medriocre ending, but as it is to promote a sequel (that I haven't read) it is passable

Comparing with others novels with this template I would award 4 stars but being... more>> the first of its kind its gets promoted to 5 <<less

This novel had a really interesting concept. Not like all the other novel, which are mostly xuxia or.... In the beginning it was interesting to read, with the characters and storyline and how the movielines changed, what gave a new sequence to it.

Spoiler

But what was really earie was that the MC created his long lost schoollove, who is only 15 years old and the first thing he does, is to r*pe her. She was crying and bleeding (virg*n), but that didn´t interest the MC. He r*ped her until the next morning

[collapse]

The MC says something first, but does something else and after the whole situation went over, he still said confidently:"I never went back on my word and never left my comrades back." What a **** BS.
Spoiler

He left in the second movie his "precious" comrade behind and ran away.

One of my favorites. Know that feeling where you cant put down a novel? This story will give that to you. If you like re:monster, reincarnator, main character hides his strength, master hunter k, the ultimate evolution, or killing grounds of gods and demons... you will like this series. I also think this novel was the originator of the infinite genre where characters go through different media (movies, games, etc). It has slow sections but this novel also has death, struggle and unexpectedness. Some of my favorite characters died in... more>> this novel... and stayed dead. You dont find that in most novels here. Give it a shot, you might like it. <<less

Since I've yet to watch Resident Evil, Alien, Alien Resurrection (cough... turned off at first hearing) I couldn't follow the story and so, on my first reading, my interest couldn't hold on for too long, dropped. I picked it up again after reading one of the spoilers about The Mummy, which was one of the few western movies that I enjoyed watching before. Since then I found the addicting side of Terror Infinity. The novel was obviously inspired by tons of movies yet T.I's characters remained the focus of the... more>> whole plot, and that's one thing I liked. (I had only realized this when I read one T.I fanfic trying to incorporate animes and yet failed to put emphasis on its real characters, gradually shifting the spotlight to the anime characters.)

The plot seems mediocre at first but as the plans, schemes and rules were gradually pieced out by the MC and his group, it turns into a whirlwind of action and survival. It is a great read. Try it, folks. I think you will all like the feeling whenever you know the movies the characters are facing off in every volume. <<less

Enjoyable for the action scenes inside movies, and occasionally for the plot, I don't think it merits five stars due to the lack of creativity in world building. The world is almost always fixed to the plot of the movies they are forced to fight in, not as effective IMO as other authors have used this pop culture survival genre. Additionally there is an often uncomfortably strong strand of racism and nationalism that often suffused the prose.

Interesting premise, might have been the earliest of its kind (2007) for Sliders-type dimensional traveling across movie worlds.

Protagonist is a 24 yr old, somewhat weak-willed like the guy in Gantz. Fights are small scale and somewhat lame.
Side characters are poorly developed, and MC's love interest delves into pedophilia (15 yr old).

Would recommend people check out Ultimate Evolution if you like the sci-fi/dimensional traveling genre. It's a much more modern update (2011) with a mature MC, epic battles and a much more open movie world.

Loved it, the best part about this series is surprisingly the characters, there is almost always something going on between the teem mates providing drama, I like how the author can have a few of the characters seem identical at first but as you get to know them they start to seem like polar opposites.

Ever want to watch a fight between a guy with the Ice-Ice devil fruit (from one-piece) fight the Ballrog with Gandoff and a Vampire martial artist! HERE IS YOUR STORY!

It's also cool to see all the... more>> fatisy worlds they go to The Mummy, Jurasic Park, The Grudge, Starship Troopers, Alians, Ext. It's also interesting to see all the bonus quests and how open the worlds are, wander out of the mummy and find Indeana Jones!

10/10 Would Recommend to anyone not afraid of a little gore! <<less

I don't think this novel is everybody's taste but as a quality this novel is the one of the best novel in site (totally IMO). No senseless development no not understandable story line or plot no absurd emotions no unnecessarily sentences this novel can be read without skipping.i surprised there was a novel like that. Enjoy

It was a good story at first but then the more I read, the more I wanted to stop.

First, the ML was transported in horror movies and he must complete missions to survive, in return he gain power through God. It was a good idea and there were a lot of possibilities and the start was good and exciting but the story became full of pseudo sciences, loopholes and inconsistency.

Spoiler

One of their mission in a movie is to rescue a baby from a dangerous man and protect him and don't let him die if not, one theam member die. They rescue him but what did they do with the baby ? They let him alone in a room and discuss how to kill the man in another. Of course the baby was again kidnapped. On another movie, the strategist wanted to kill a new member of the team and the leader knew and don't wanted it but he let the strategist does what he want. Where is the leader who promise to protect his team member and won't let anyone backstab his camarade ? It became so messed up.

[collapse]

I dropped the novel because I feel like the author has no idea what he was doing and just forced the plot for us to blieve that the ML is the best, is strong and he is the best leader.

Second, the character lose the identity with time and became 2D except for one or two. The ML became s*upid but to hide this he can simulate the thought of intelligent people and fortunately that there is that because one of the character is the almighty brain and strategist and all he does is near perfect, he need that to continue to be the leader. The others have no opinions, if the author did not remind us of the life and personality of the carachter in the middle of the story, I might forget their personalities and take them as soldiers who obey the orders and didn't think. It was not like that at first but it goes downhill.

Third, the sexism, it's not obvious at first but the few main women charcter became either s*upid, simplist or fall in love of the ML. A woman always scream in a dangerous situation. And then a new team member who (from the author) is not serious with what he says don't stop looking at the breasts of the women and talk vulgarly to them all the time then he was beaten by a woman, it's his only trait of character in the story but is it normal for a man to do this ? Do you want me to look at the lower part of a man intensely and say in public "whoa, what a big bump, how can you be so big, if I touch this, can it became hard?, I really want to touch" ? If it's not obsene and an s*xual harass**ent then why doesn't any women say that to their male friend ? If a man does this to me repeatedly, I don't beat him but goes report to the police.

Spoiler

Lan was at first someone who think and give her opinion but then fall in love of the ML, didn't give her opinion and finaly became a phone person. Then the assassin woman, she is strong and can kill without problem, it's good but now in V15, she falls in love with the main charcter, why do you need her to fall in love especially with the ML who has already a partner ? She just became someone who makes the ML charming and iresistible for woman and now the only two women in the team are in love with ML.

plot: like gantz when they enter another movie and meet new people, except they either have another "space" called god's dimension where they stay during grace periods between movies. each movie takes up 1 volume. and they can purchase/exchange points they earn into weapons/magical items/abilities etc.

characters: the first thing I didn't really like was the MC creating lori aka his childhood friend/gf who is a minor 15 years old lmao.. so yeah it was nice that there wasn't harem but I didn't appreciate what they did there.. idk maybe it's because she's 15 years old and doesn't really have a personality. tbh iwas also surprised when they had s*x literally the first night in gods dimension.. I mean at least its not everyday like in arena (another light novel) LOL but still.. how old is he like 20 and she's 15 :-/ <<less

In a world were killing is like eating, he just doesn't fit in. At least make him a bully or fighter in the underground rings or something... if I pick 100 normal ppl from the street and put a gun in their hand and tell them they can kill anyone without consequences maybe some will do it but I doubt they won't feel remorse. He is so out of place that it gets very annoying at times...

Then it's the rules of the world, who are not always the same for all of them... The way they evolve and the enemy evolve can sometime get u a facepalm if u'r really into keeping tabs on how the world works, but not enough to make it not enjoyable.

If u'r in for a novel full of action and killing then give it a try. It won't be out of this world experience but it is enjoyable. Probably a 3/5 but I gave it a 4/5 cuz I don't really get offended about anything in a novel, and I don't really need the action scenes to be described in an amazing way. I tend to enjoy the journey. <<less

Terror Infinity is amazing! One of the best reads you can have (As long as your alright with a 10 volume or so prologue before things really go down!) But that's not to say everything before Volume 10 is worthless. Reason why I state as such each volume new "Players" join the Terror World think of it like the manga (Gantz) if you ever read it. Each volume has new characters powering up or dying that's what you should expect from reading this. Also the MC from time to time... more>> becomes like a supportive character to the story. Each and everyone of of the MC'S allies he meets with newcomers that survive and join his team are all MC'S you will learn about their past before coming to "Learn the real meaning of life"

Now that the boring stuff is out of the way The MC of this story is simply a bad ass. However like (most) main characters they start off weak and very wussy like. However that changes and the MC just becomes a beast such examples are his exclusive (Explosion and Destruction, Insta-Destruction) Nonetheless like I said earlier VOL 1-10 is basically the prologue Volume 10 is when everything wrong CAN GO WRONG. (Caps are meant for that) << Everything past Volume 10 and so on is when you can say the real story begins as such the prologue is over flames went down and now it's time for that "Resurrection" stage all MC'S go through after a life-death scenario etc.

To sum it all up slow prologue (BUT EXTREMELY IMPORTANT) MC becomes an absolute bad ass and literally like the description says Zheng Zha evolves throughout each volume since it's death awaiting if he cant match up to par with him as the captain of China's team. <<less

I've somehow shifted over the months of reading light novels from reading every type of light novel to picking a few select sub genres in chinese. This is one of those. This novel is good because unlike the rest of the wuxia novels out there, none of the novels in this genre have been completed. It's not predictable and most of its never been read before. There is an element of sci-fi and wuxia in the novel as well as a believable adaption of 'terror' movies by the author.
