[The Eternal Scattering Flowers: Fiore Caduto Eterna] is a game ill-suited of being known as a galge, as the main heroine would – regardless of the chosen route – meet her demise.

Fudou Niito, a resident of Japan, went to bed dissatisfied with the ending of the game. When he next awoke, he found himself in the body of the game’s hated fake saint, Elrise.

Confused, but with an understanding that Elrise’s actions would spell disaster for many lives in the future, he took advantage of the situation and acted to change the course of history.

As a result, despite her rotten personality, Elrise was adored by those around her as a perfect saint. Furthermore, the game itself was intrinsically linked to his original world and changed accordingly to suit Elrise’s actions. Without any knowledge of what the hell was going on, the fake saint Elrise continued to alter her fate.

A saint on the outside, but a man on the inside.

The transmigrator was a piece of sh*t and the person he transmigrated into was also a piece of shit. A combination of sh*t and sh*t would cause an accident – to create the greatest fake saint sh*tshow of the year!

One of my most favorite novel of all time. The MC is already overwhelmingly powerful and the author was still able to make the her even stronger while making the story more and more interesting. The comedies are on spot and funny, seriously she was worrying that the main hero Vernell was going muscle macho route instead of increasing his favorabilty with the heroine, I was laughing out loud when reading it. One of the misunderstanding elements was how she was actually selfish and only want to achieve her goal... more>> of happy end by acting like a true saint but nonetheless people see her as a real saint even the witch was fooled by her. Later everyone will know she was not a Saint choosen by the will of the world, but still she was a Saint in people's hearts. The MC growth are not quite noticeable, but basically she was striving to achieve a HAPPY END for everyone (based on her ideal), but she was not included in those happy end, when she came back to live then she finally noticed how important she is for everyone and came to appreciate her third life? Her heart was also purified a little bit towards the end lol, and her inner monologue become a little bit decent? Definitely one of my favorite novels of all times. <<less

The story is interesting. The focus of the story is on how the MC who is reincarnated as a fake saint wants to make the hero and main heroine achieve a happy ending even if she (or he) have to sacrifice her lives considering that the MC is a fan of the main heroine.

Although this is a gender bender and fantasy genre novel. But the MC is quite aware of her true gender identity, which is male at soul even though her body is a beautiful girl. So that the... more>> MC avoids all forms of romantic relationships that can lead to gender deviation like yuri or yaoi.

The most interesting story of this novel is how the misunderstanding created by the MC to achieve a happy ending for the hero and main heroine. The original MC was a fake saint but she acted to be a saint more than the real saint herself so even the main boss was fooled. Even so, it was all done as an 'act' to fool the people around the MC. But the people around the MC were fascinated by the MC's noble deeds so they admired her.

The shortcoming of this novel, I think is more about the MC character who is a bit le*d where she sometimes uses her girl's body to touch breast of heroines during certain crisis conditions. Although this scene is seen by a third person as a rescue act. So impressed as 'ecchi comedy'. Whatever it is, it's still s*xual harassment, okay? Even though the MC is a beautiful girl. However the MC was quite aware that the original character was actually rotten, so she didn't go any further to commit further s*xual perversions. It's just more like taking advantage of opportunity, instead of taking advantage of authority for personal pleasure.

Apart from that, I am quite amused by the comedy of misunderstandings presented by this novel, so it is quite worth reading.

Spoiler

The good ending of the fantasy and gender bender genre novel is that MC chooses to be single for life and withdraws from civilization to live peacefully and slowly. And yeah, MC finally chose to live a lifetime of singleness accompanied by her (female) guardian knight by building a wooden house in a remote forest.

I'm glad the MCs stayed 'sane' until the end so she didn't fall into the LG*T group.

But the bad news is that MC failed to achieve her ambition to match the hero and main heroine in main story because the hero had already been captivated by the MC since his first meeting even though the MC persisted in maintaining her sanity to not get involved in anything romantic.

However, in the side story, MC's ambition is achieved to match the hero and main heroine to achieve a happy ending even in a parallel world.

In other words, the ending of this story is very satisfying in my opinion considering that a good ending is that the story must be able to fully answer the initial premise of the story and that this novel has achieved it.

I personally prefer to rate this 4-star instead of 5 (which is only for masterpieces= not exist except you are going to get a Nobel prize with it), but in the novel's standard of this whole site, I have no choice but to vote 5-star. It's a fun ride of a novel and leaves me some expression of its existence in a corner of my memory. That's enough to highly regard this as a fine piece of work.

Not every novel has to have to change something in you, which is,... more>> well, a very sensitive topic. Some novels change the whole life of some, but can't do anything but receive a sneer from the others. And, well, again, can you guarantee that the change of view after reading the novel is for the better? Like the more precious books you read, the more you "level up" and become better? I'm sure it doesn't work like that. Like self-help series books, the fact that can your life change or not after reading the book totally depends on yourself, not the second book, or the third or any other books after that. It depends solely on you. Maybe you haven't changed at all and are in the delusion of being so, a very dangerous thought that novels and self-help books bring up. They make you overestimate your ability, think that you have things you don't even have. How to check for the change? Time. Only by the review of others on you over a very long time is the only hope for you to know, not after you just read some random novel and proclaim to have changed your whole being and become another person. People don't change that easily, to begin with. <<less

It's excellent fun. The main character has some screws loose specifically when concerning her self worth, and some chapters went a bit too far with praises; but beyond that the plot is tight, the villains were all with understandable motivation, and the emotional punches can knock you hard. Among the sea of cookie cutter Mary Sues who pull knowledge and miracles out of nowhere, this superhuman I-can-solo-your-entire-nation character had to wrack her brain fighting unconventional enemies and ended up being much more well rounded. Oh, and have I mentioned there... more>> is no cringy romance? Nice.

Oh man. I have to create an account to review this novel.

I read Power in Shadow before, but this is on another level of misunderstanding comedy. The author's sense of humor is twisted, and very much to my liking.

Also, props to the translators, as a person who used to do translator's work myself, I understand that it is super hard to deliver comedy translation properly. Yet, the translators here did an excellent job, sometimes just by leaving the jokes in Romanji. They even added references to Jap pop culture, which... more>> is another plus.

I am still reading, and enjoying this novel. Highly recommended. <<less

It was an unexpectedly fun experience reading the story.

Originally I thought it was a very ordinary wish-fulfillment isekai story like any other but, since I was recommended it, I gave it a try. It wasn't an ordinary wish-fulfillment story.

Here's how it differs: it is a misunderstanding story that doesn't actually seem illogical. The reason for it is because the main character lacks empathy and a connection with reality. She (he?) doesn't understand how others feel aside from the most surface-based impression and has no interest in changing it.

The main character... more>> herself (himself?) plays a role of a Saint in a rather selfish manner, and does so with the intent of getting the ending to a video-game that they would want (and they do treat the world they are in as an extension to the video-game, even going as far as to deny the significance of their own life, since they are "an (originally shitty) extra character of the game", giving others the impression of selflessness), so we don't get usual boring tired out arcs that most other isekai go through, and many clichés also don't happen here, because the main character has a very specific way of interaction with their environment.

The disconnect between the perspectives of the main character and the surrounding characters is therefore very hilarious due to how widely different they are.

But it also leaves room for good drama. The characters aren't reduced to comical caricatures for the sake of making jokes, they still have very real and understandable feelings and opinions, and, coupled with the very non-comedic situation they are in, many dramatic moments have been written.

It's a tightly written and well-planned out read that will satisfy most of the audience, so giv eit a try if you haven't already. <<less

Very disappointing for such high reviews. I stopped at chapter 20, which is approximately 1/5 of the story because it was too boring.

MC narrates what he does, then the pov changes, and other characters narrate exactly the same scene. It doesn't bring any new information, the characters just praise the godly Saint (MC) and that's it.

There is no adventure, no Chara dev, no plot to look forward to because MC just crushes everything with brut force and lol about it. That's the essence of this story, MC going "LOL."

I'm sorry... more>> for the translator who put in hours and hours of efforts to give us this work, but in my opinion it wasn't worth it. <<less

Man this is one of the better misunderstanding-based novel on this site. The story conclude nicely and doesn’t stray from its purpose like “to be a power in the shadow” where there’s ton of chapters but the story just keep getting worse.

I love it. The first starting was lame but not in bad way and was funny. The whole story was pretty dragged out tbh like it could have been over faster but they added multiple pov (which was good in a way). The ch 78 was so emotion and I cried man I need to get rid of onion slicing ninjas. 10/10 I would I highly recommend this

It started off a bit rough, but quickly grabs you as long as you like the light hearted, nonsensical nature of this type of story. It is at its heart a comedy afterall.

Gender bender done well. I like the gender bender genre, but most of them fail to do it right. Being lighthearted, this story uses the gender bender as a mechanism for humour more than anything else, and thus is able to do it really well.

A great read for lighthearted laughs, with a good overall story that has proper... more>> worldbuilding and a plot that is headed to a proper conclusion.
Seeing that this novel has been picked up for publishing as a LN, I will be buying it to support the author. Thats how much I like it. I rarely give novels 5 stars. 4 is usually as high as I go. I think giving it 5 stars and buying the LN is the highest praise I can give it. <<less

This unreliable tr*sh protagonist rivals Cale for the amount of self delusion and hijinks. Super fun story that gets surprisingly deep as details of the world are slowly revealed and the other characters perspectives give us a good glimpse outside the narrators aggressive world view.

This isn't a perfectly written story. Every piece of information is repeated thrice when told to the reader, and then repeated from a different perspective before the author is ready to move the story forward (granted, it still moves at a quick pace, it's just repetitive). The first 40 chapters could've (read: should've) been cut to 20.

But it's a wonderful story if you can speed read through the slog near the beginning. The author gets much better at inserting comedy in between the lines, the cast/MC later become and introduce... more>> more likeable characters, and differing perspectives become better utilized (or maybe you just become used to them, either way!).

The way it wraps everything up and ties the reincarnation into a broader story is pretty cool as well, usually isekai novels don't go through the effort anyways, and even when they do it isn't this well put together. I'm excited to see what the author writes next because by the end this was an honest-to-god 5/5. <<less

I really like this novel!

It ain't perfect, but mama always said nothin' is perfect. It knows what it is, a comedy, and doesn't get too big for its britches. It's a good read if you're lookin' for an entertainin' read. It ain't got a big plot or twist since the main draw is the comedy.

... more>> Edit: (13/06/2021)

I just finished this! I liked the ending, though it's a bit open so we don't really get a definite ending for the characters and their relationships, but they seem to live happily ever after. :) I'd like to thank the author for writing this awesome story. <<less

LOVE the backstory, the worldbuilding, and the whole twisty plot of why and how MC got isekai'd into the game. The characters had so much heart despite initially being stereotypes. The humor and misunderstandings were right up my alley. Love Elrise-sama and her ambiguous peaceful end lmao.

It's not a bad read but nowhere near a great read. If you enjoy a twisty plot this could be your cup of tea, unfortunately the author explaining the world is like putting spoiled milk in that cup of tea.

I just want to point out a little before any of you reading it. The MC narration won't get better, it's tr*sh. Not a likeable tr*sh, but just a pure garbage. Sometimes you see him talking about serious event but suddenly talking about food in 1 fkin paragraph! Even more so his monologue. The more you read, the more you know he is a tr*sh. The author tried really hard to portray MC as a boy too much.

But the other pov however is so good that I even thought it... more>> was being written by a different person.

As for the plot, you can see the other review.

So I'll give it 4/5. With the 1 being tr*sh MC <<less

Interesting premise, and very fun to read, tho I do have some gripes with it. This novel is about a guy (Fudou Niito) who gets isekai'd to his favorite game and is about 10yrs~ in the past and decides to create the happy ending he wants. If you want a synopsis, read the description.

However, I want to talk about the way it builds and ends, which bothered me a bit. SPOILER

Spoiler

As he slowly gets closer to the ending of the game, Elrise (Fudou Niito/MC) pushes this idea that since he was reincarnated, because he was always scum on the inside, its ok for him to sacrifice himself (or herself) in this world to get rid of the Witch (whoever kills the witch (usually the saint) gets the witch's curse, and since the saint's body is built to somewhat resist the witch's curse they slowly lose themselves to it, thereby becoming the witch in about 5yrs or less). Since Elrise is a fake saint and doesn't have the constitution of a saint, if the witch's curse is passed to her, she will die as a result.

The issue I had wasn't necessarily that Elrise (or to be more precise the soul of the MC) had wanted to sacrifice, its that the MC said he was scum when his actions surely didn't felt that way. Especially when he planned to sacrifice himself, him realizing and caring for the characters of the Fiori world, and even the premise of how he defeated the "Witch" using a holy bomb of positive energy and mana circulation was somehow "purifying" him from his "scummy-ness". This contradiction was such a nagging point that I couldn't hold my suspension of disbelief even at the end of it and left a bad taste with my mouth. The old Pizzarise was true scum, the MC felt like he had depersonalization or some kind of mental health issue rather than being scum.

If it didn't make sense, it's probably because of you haven't read it.

[collapse]

Having said that, I still enjoyed it. Especially...

Spoiler

Alfrea who is the first saint but somehow she has no dignity and is pure ponkotsu. Her flags and unnecessary commentary made me laugh and I enjoyed her company.

[collapse]

The third person perspective from the other characters was also great, especially when we see it from them praising Elrize and it almost becoming galge-like. Plus, when the tragedy hits, the feels hit strong. Besides that one gripe, it was a fun read. I did wish for more character development, but at the end most of the sub-characters felt like filler at the end.
Spoiler

Even the main heroine, Eterna was filler, color me disappointed. I wanted some kind of yuri development but that's personal preference.

[collapse]
And the end felt like it was a bit stretched but otherwise, I enjoyed the read.

Worth the read for fun. Give it a shot if the description intrigues you. Also worth noting, J-Novel released the 1st novel in the Americas (EN), support if you like it enough to do so. <<less

A dull read. The characters are one-dimensional and the MC is a moron who perpetuates the very misunderstandings that cause him (her) problems later on. The chapter where he lets himself be imprisoned for absolutely no reason was too much for me. On top of all that, the writing is very amateur with a lot of run-on exposition dumps and explanations of things that don't matter at all, seemingly to pad the page count.
