This is slooow burn. The romance doesn't start until 120++ it is also slice of life so if you're looking for older seme, relaxing read with sweetness then it's for you.

MC is a little gary stu but still cute. ML is the cold but doting lover. MC is 17 when they started their romance and ML is 25 or 26 (they have age gap around 9-10 years). If you feel that it's iffy or it feels like grooming feel free to skip.

Their romance:

Spoiler

They didn't have any attraction until MC is like 15+, most of his young life, MC treated ML like an idol/big bro and that quickly turn to something else when MC is older.

ML liked MC first but just waited for ML to become older. MC confessed first, ML want to wait but MC didn't want to. ML restrained himself a lot and didn't touch MC until he's ready.

I need to remind people that inside he's already 17-18 y.o and not a teen. MC is very innocent because his old self assimilated with his new self so he have the mentality of 16 yo book reality even though he already have experience of 17-18 yo original reality

[collapse]

About MC

Spoiler

He transmigrated to an alternate reality of some sort where the real him doesn't exist but he occupied another same name toddler body.

The toddler seems to be a low function autistic. And when MC occupied his body, he gets better.

BUT MC started to forget his old life and regressed mentally to a toddler mentality. It feels like MC assimilated with the body and the more he assimilated the more he forget and be healthier.

He still faintly remember his old feelings but he can't remember why.

Once he's around 16 he finally remembered all and his body was able to take the toll of remembering his old life. So by 16 his old and new life memories fully assimilated.

He went back to his original reality, turns out he's also sick (?) but gets better. He's adopted by grandpa. His gramp died and cut the ties that bind him to that reality. So he went back to book reality

[collapse]

This novel feels like double MC because author use 100+ chapters to not only establish MC but also ML. Usually when we meet ML he's already successful and rich af. But this time author patiently take time to develop ML to the archetype of Rich Cold Genius Doting ML.

Author also give a thorough background for MC and ML so their actions and personalities matched.

Well I'll probably give 5* if it's a bit quicker, I'm a bit impatient hehe. <<less

Can I say that im so shocked to most of the reviews here. Many people complain that its so slow and all. Not realizing that this is not yaoi! This is slice of life kinda novel, and shounen ai is just the sub genre to it. This is a wish fulfillment novel and the romance is just an add on to it.

Anyways I really like this novel. The MC is groomed by the ML which I kinda liked 🥵. This is basically a slice of life/ grooming novel ✔️👁️👄👁️ I... more>> knw I have crooked thoughts <<less

This isn't a bad story and it reads like a 'slice of life' genre for most of the first half. It's just the age gap that kills it for me.

It would be fine if they met at a reasonable age (even with the age gap -- I've read plenty of those before) but in this case, Xia Ye (the... ML) practically raised him (ML is the godson of MC's parents so a "brother" to MC) from a young toddler age??? Like when they wear shorts and knee high socks and... more>> cartoon shoes (legit description of MC's clothes) whereas Xia Ye is already running his own business, graduated from high school (roughly 17 or 18 years old) and is described as a handsome young man. This is them in the same timeframe. A legitimate toddler in shorts who you have to carry everywhere (hands around your neck style) and a boy who's at the age for a teen campus romance. The author has reinforced this image of a toddler so well that I feel unwell when I think about them getting together in the future. Like why?? This whole thing screams psychologically unwell and *crime*, So yup going to be skipping out on this one. <<less

It might not a 5 star story, but i’ll give my whole heart and send 5 stars due to the way author telling a rebirth/transmigration story with a solid background.

I love how the MC reborn (or transmigrated, well you will find the reason near the end of the story) as a 5 yo child, and gradually lose his memories in his prev life. It makes sense! That way he still act lovable as a child, while in the same time he still hv fragmented past memories which make him very... more>> sensible and obedient as a child.

I love how everyone in the book are normal and kind, without too many evil nor portraying women as evil lord in BL story. Overall it’s a very heartwarming story about how a child tied everyone around him and make them become better person to protect the precious MC.

ML is soooooo doting him to the max. You can say one of the reason he become even more successful and powerful compare to last life which he supposed to die young, is because he want to protect our precious lovely MC (even though our MC is a little wealthy koi which doesn’t really need his money).

It’s true it might be boring and very slow for the romance to be build. But I personally enjoy the interaction between MC as an adorable child with everyone around him. And I did not found the scene where ML start to treat MC as a love object to be disturbing. 17 yo is fine to kiss. Though some might hate it. Just don’t read it if this is not your cup of tea. <<less

I finished this, liked the unique take on transmigrating, but I also think the pacing was very boring.

There are plot holes here and there (plus translation errors that make things confusing at time) and it just feels like the author wrote this without a clear goal in mind.

It didn't pick up until like half of the chapters have passed and even then, nothing much happened. I understand it's slice of life but this one just falls flat. There were so many chapters that seemed even worse than filler anime episodes,... more>> mainly because they added absolutely nothing to the story and its essence.

There are other disappoint things but the main point is that although it has its unique points and moments, it's still boring af. Literally fall-asleep-while-reading kind of boring. <<less

5/5 First I'll like to say that by definition, it is NOT a grooming novel. Yes, MC was significantly younger and was partially brought up by this non-blood-related older brother (ML). However, there was zero s*xual or abusive intention from ML. Although MC seemed a little emotional dependent on ML, it was due to the novels rebirth-ish nature and was not due to ML trying to groom the young and innocent MC. In fact, ML distanced himself after noticing his own feelings towards his younger brother. MC was also not... more>> financially dependent on his older brother (ML) and thus ML did not build an authoritative nature over him. As such, this is not a grooming novel. However, if you still feel uncomfortable that ML knew MC when MC was young, and took care of him as a older-brother figure, before later transitioning to lover, then you are free to skip this.

Ok, this novel is firstly, not very focused on the romantic relationship. It was slice of life novel of MC travelling back in time into a young sickly body and living out his life beside his previous male god. He managed to claim said male god as his older brother before he loses his previous life's memories (thereby losing his advantage as a reborn person). There were still hints of his memories later, so the rebirth aspect was still there throughout the novel. The main bulk of the novel (up to chapter 120+) was just him growing up and how his presence managed to change the fate of not just his male god older brother (ML), but also his parents, his current family, and his male god's friends and company. There were quite a few heart wrecking times when he fell ill again and again and everyone, including myself, felt anxious for him, but overall, it's a super healing novel of changing an unfortunate fate through love and care from family and friends. The romance fell into place afterwards, when (spoiler!) MC regains some of his memories. His understanding of ML became not just as an older brother who had taken care of him his whole life, but also merged with the image of his male god who had inevitable helped him in his previous life.

Overall, I wouldn't say this is a pure fluff novel, but this is definitely a healing novel. <<less

for familial love only, a lil bit of fluff (maybe) ?, translation (check), the first half of the story was good

I Agree with @hanarealbess, I really liked the beginning of the story and how lovable and supportive the MC family.. but the story kinda got a lil bit astray where I really dont know whats happening anymore.. where is the story heading to?.. almost the first half of the story is how the MC is disabled I mean like he has some kind of disease so he tries really hard... more>> to try to crawl, walk or talk... then as he grows a lil bit older, I means for months? or how hes recovering from his illness? he forgot.. about himself.. the past.. his mission.. his goal... his grandpa... his male god..

but even tho he did forgot everything he is still obsessed with the ML, like very clingy.. then the story proceeds its like this :

Recovering from illness - amnesia from past life - learning intruments - getting to know ml-

im still at the middle part but I stopped like srsly I really dont know what the hell is going on anymore..

even his conversation with the ML were limited in one damn chapter, (srsly I dont feel any damn thrill at all)

and ml? I dont know they didnt really introduce him that much.... I mean they didnt even introduce hime YES. and okay when the MC still has his memories he mention that his male god (ml) was all time god hacker but he died.. on a plane crash.. smth thats all.. yes.. what I really dont like is when the pov shifts to the ML I couldnt undestand a damn thing.. at all.. I dont know whats happening... <<less

So I really liked the beginning but then it very quickly began to drag. I like slice of life, slow burn type stories. But this was so unsatisfying in a way I was struggling to understand as I was reading until one interaction summed it up.

It's when they're going to surprise teacher Xia at his concert. Tang family surprise ML (and the audience since this is the first we're hearing of this) with flying to see his dads concert, he barely reacts and it's revealed that they thought this up just recently so instead of being sweet and thoughtful it comes off as impulsive? They go and stay at the same hotel as teacher Xia except HE comes to THEIR door already knowing about the surprise. And then they only stay for a day and barely describe his first day of concert but we do know that ML didn't enjoy his dads performance. Then they abandon teacher Xia and hang out while he is stuck performing for the next week. Where was this supposed to be satisfying or heartwarming? And the rest of the story is like this.

I can't believe I didn't review this! 🤦‍♀️ This novel is actually ranked in my top 5 favorite novels of all time.

The writing is so good, very good, extremely good. The story is well-constructed. The pace and rhythm are excellent. Whereas, the plot is tight and (mostly) logical.

I didn't expect the revelation of MC's origin at all.

To be honest, I never doubt the connections between the book and the outside world, and just treat it like an usual transmigration novel where the transmigration just happens randomly, so when the story reached that part, I was so surprised. It's very impactful.

moreover, I really like the interactions between MC and his grandpa of the outside world. Although they are poor, they are so loving. His grandpa is kind, and the MC is very filial. 😭 What a good boy. This is so touching.

[collapse]

This is such a healing piece of work. The story is full of warmth, and I feel so comfortable reading it. I remember smiling and crying along with the MC's journey, seeing him grow up step by step, just like he is my own child.

Other than the romance, I think this novel is the best at showcasing the importance and the affinity of family and friends (It's actually better than the romance between the couples). The fact that the parents never give up on a sick child make me burst out crying. There are so many good people in this world, grandpa and male lead's family too. 😭 God, I am very weak for this kind of family-oriented novel. Even the cp feels more like good brothers to me at this point (lol).

The story of his friend is also very heartwarming. Their friendships are precious. In fact, all relationship here are beautiful, and the ending is very completed and fulfilling. I really love how it ends with everyone having their happy ending. 🥺
Spoiler

I also love the side couple. The kids are very innocent and pure-hearted. I'm glad everything turned out great for everyone.

MC got few houses and assets in middle school but can't freely use them as he is young but he could have ask his parents or brother to help his friend and not go secretly raise money for his friend's dad operation and not have to let his other friend sell her stuff to donate. Something that important, Where's the brain? This story is too long for something simple.

Tbh it's better if this was bromance instead of BL, I can see them like real brothers. Getting together makes it more... more>> uncomfortable than in*est in "can't be left behind" <<less

I'll tell you, I just want to have a cute and obedient younger brother like MC and a loving and independent big brother like ML!

This story is developing very slowly, the story is centered only on ML and MC as well. Romance also burns very very slowly, this is just a slice of life so don't expect any romance to come in 50+ chapters. But that's okay, you will be given fluffy and sweet things that will make your teeth cavity.

Minus? Well, I think MC's life is too smooth, too... more>> lucky so I feel unreal, even though MC has problems with his body but oh well, his family, friends and ML really love MC.

MC and ML have a brotherly relationship but are not related by blood, they are originally neighbors. It might be boring at first, but if you're digging for sweetness, read on!

++ : ML really doesn't want MC to grow up, lol, sometimes that statement makes him a little selfish but it's also moving. <<less

This is so cute. The MC is a little naive ball of fluff and the MC is the typical older brother next door. I love the family though. All of their interactions are so wholesome and sweet. The romance happens at the very end of the novel, since most of the novel is about the MC growing up. There were a lot of chapters from the ML's perspective, unlike most novels where the ML's background is vague and "mysterious". Sometimes, especially in the beginning of the novel, it feels like... more>> the ML is the MC, instead of the actual MC. Overall, a heartwarming novel. <<less

Cute and fluffy slice of life novel set in Modern Day China. The MC (Tang Jinyu) transmigrates into the body of a sickly 5yo boy with very loving parents after reading a book on his male god (the ML, Xia Ye). At first, he remembers things very clearly -- he knows that he was a lot older, that he had a grandfather that loved him very much, and that Xia Ye was his male god and idol --- but after a while, the memory faded. This made it so that... more>> the focus of the novel was less on the MC, and more on the dynamics between his family and the ML's family as he grows up.

In this way, it really is best described as a slice of life novel~ Highly character-driven, as most modern day novels are. I recommend reading it if you're looking for a sweet and simple story to read on the side. It's pretty rare for me to have been able to finish it, since it's so long, so my view on the novel is quite high, and I feel no burden at all when recommending it to others to read.

CHARACTERS: 10/10

The characters of the novel are very consistent and very real. Of course, like any novel, there are exaggerated points, but these points were all given a proper foundation so that it felt natural for the characters to act in certain ways.

Tang Jingyu (MC)

He was very sickly as a child, and remained sickly growing up. His older soul made him particularly sensible, however. So all of his elders love him~ Including the ML, who is almost ten years older than him.\

Xia Ye (ML)

The ML has the attributes of most gongs in danmei novels. He's the type to be indifferent to anybody but the people he loves and cares about. At first, this was only his father. Later, it slowly came to include the MC and his family as well.

ROMANCE: 7.5/10

Because of the age gap and the pseudo-brother-to-brother relationship, some may find the main ship of this novel a bit conflicting. I don't really have that barrier since both parties clearly loved and depended on each other and nothing happened until they were both of age. The reason for the deduction of points is mainly because the romance is not really a focus on this novel. It's "Shounen Ai" after all. It's only until the last arc that things happen, and it's very subtle for the longest time.

SETTING: 6.5/10

When it comes to setting, this novel is definitely a bit plain since it's Modern Day. There's some fantasy involved with the transmigration, but much like the romance, that's more of a side thing. I definitely prefer more fantasy-like settings, but the worldbuilding in this novel was done well enough that I felt none of the usual dislike.

PLOT: 8/10

As a character-driven plot mainly focusing on familiar bonds, this novel is probably not going to be for everyone. There's not many ups and downs either, it's all a very smooth road. Very simple and straightforward. Not usually my preference, but the novel and its characters are so well-written that I couldn't help but keep reading to see what happened next.

PERSONAL ENJOYMENT: 8.5/10

There were definitely times were I skimmed a bit (the author has a tendency towards being overly descriptive), but all in all, this novel was a joy to read for me~

RATING: 4.05/5

Highly recommended! If you're looking for a simple and sweet slice of life novel, you can't go wrong with this one~ There's lots of soft and sour feels to enjoy. Perfect night-time reading, in my opinion. <<less

This was such a wonderful fluffy story, perfect for such horrible times (covid, racial tensions, war). It's wonderful to read a story about a family that most parents and children hope for. One where the parents can give their all to their child and be appreciated for it. One where the child can expect consistent support from parents. One where neighbors become almost family, and kind strangers become grandparents.

I love the idea of parallel universes and second chances, and this author does such a beautiful job of highlighting what is... more>> most likely to happen in reality, and what can happen given enough caring people working together to amplify kindness.

The translations sometimes make the story a bit confusing, but never to the point you can't understand the general plot, and you can tell the translator is trying (translation is very hard work, especially if you aren't familiar with idioms) <<less

the initial story is fluffy and cute, I love baby MC.

as the protagonist grows older, the sweetness of the interaction is not longer as fluffy.

there may be a grooming theme, but I don't find it unappealing in this story.

... more>> however, there are some parts that are left hanging, such as classmate guo (I'll leave his name as that since I don't remember his name), who confessed but there was never a part to address his confession, only MC's thoughts.

also, ML's mother. I don't like her and so I'm not satisfied at the lack of revenge on her. However, it is understood that ML no loner cares about the lady.

but otherwise, it is mostly an okay read

*the translation is an issue you will have to bear with. Many parts are jerky and roughly translated, and occasionally there are missing words and wrong phrasings. Initially the issue with the translation was not as obvious but in the later chapters the translation quality is similar to that of MTL, but slightly edited. <<less

This story was such a journey! If you're looking for realism, a loving and large family and a beautiful but very slow build romance in the slice of life shounen ai genre, this is absolutely the story you are looking for! One important caveat- you need to be able to switch from cooing over an adorable little kid MC to rooting for him in his love story. This is definitely going to be difficult for some folks. By NO means is this something that should trigger your bottom line for... more>> underage romance. By the time our main couple gets together not only is the MC, Jinyu, grown up, but he's also firmly in charge of the pace. I'm not denigrating those who give this a pass either. There is a definite age difference that can turn some people off and some folks have a harder time accepting the very dramatic shift from tiny toddler to grown up in the space of a novel since it's so easy to become protective of kiddos. That said, the author employs their time skips in a gradual way. It didn't feel abrupt or awkward and as long as you go in with a flexible attitude towards the age progression I doubt you'll have a problem with it. There isn't a toxic power imbalance and the romance is incredibly sweet. This is a very happy and fluffy story! It was pure joy to read and I'll miss anticipating the next day's update! <<less

Definitely a good story, but if you're one to quickly boot stories that become a dragging type of slice of life, then I would only read until they get together and then drop it.

The thing about slow burn stories (imo) when writing them is that once you get to the romance, you either...1. Finish the story shortly after. 2. Bring in the smexy times after all the s*xual tension (this story could not do that because of the lack of s*xual tension, for obvious reasons where our MC is still... more>> a minor). 3. Bring in or continue an exciting plot to keep the readers engaged in the story while also keep them pining for more romance. However, because the story is a slice of life, it obviously failed in all three options and chose an external option that wasn't quite the best.

So my final advice for this novel: It's a great novel, but end it after they get together, especially if you don't like dragging stories. Or don't start it at all, but I think that's a waste of potential. <<less
