I’ve never written any reviews before but this masterpiece of a novel deserves the first spot in my review list and is definitely one of the top 3 in my re-read novel pile.

A 5* in every aspect of the novel:

- Translation: 10/10. It was cleanly translated, grammarly correct, and beautifully descriptive. It has everything that a dream novel should have: suspense, angst, tragedy, smut, romance, humor, logic, female empowerment, male philogyny, character development and most important of all, no plot holes! This novel defies all the old school views of a sexist, mysogynist society and brings forth a new concept of gender balance where a woman can take charge of the government affairs and a man respects his woman’s decisions emotionally and physically. All the elements in the plot were explained beautifully and weaved together to give rise to flesh-out characters and realistic plot progression.

- Characters: 100000000/10. The MC, Leah, was intelligent, courageous, hardworking, resilient, self-aware and never a damsel in distress despite her traumatic upbringings and small physique. The ML, Ishakan, was smart, resolute, empathetic, protective, obsessive yet respectful of his love despite his “beastly” nature. Together, they make an amazing couple with excellent communications, healthy boundaries, absolute trust in each other, and no unnecessary misunderstandings. Oh how much I LOVE all the interactions of the Kurkans and their devotion and fierce protectiveness towards the King and Queen - all the side characters brought so much fun to the plot and I could read a whole book just on the Kurkans alone!

Conclusion: This is one of a kind masterpiece that is rarely seen in the Korean smut genre novels - I came for the smut but definitely stayed for the plot. All the emotional investment (so much tears shed mixed with insane laughs) and physical turmoil (lack of sleep and high blood pressure from wanting to mu*der certain characters) I’ve experienced reading this novel were ridiculous. I can say the characters in this novel are my favourite out of any that I have ever read.
I can’t appreciate it’s beauty in words, just how beautiful the characters are. The male protagonist has set the bar for me so high that I don’t think it’s ever possible to reach, and it’s not something fantasy related that I am talking about, apart from his good look and physique I am talking about his mentality, I can’t frame it in sentences that how brilliant he is, he is - supportive, caring, patient and at the same time is demanding his love from her. I can’t tell how invested I was. It had all the spice and love which I never expected I would come across. I am just in awe and this story will be forever one of those which I would never like to forget. 😭♥️

The storyis quite good till now and the characters are not bad either. BUT tye FL description is horrible. Is again the she is " smaller and more petite than her peers " and that she only eats 2 apple slides so eating 2 additional plums will make her fat. And the authors never fails to bring either one of this up in every chapter. We got it. She is cute and smal and does not need any food so please spot saying it in every chapter

Its one of my first korean novel that I have read, and its amazing. Both the ML and FL are a great pair, the story has a unique plot and the translation is wonderful.

The story flow is freakincg good and thw personality between the FL and ML is really sweet but sadly they have to faced the reality which cause them to drifting away from eachother. FL and Ml's love is freaking sad because the sacrifices, huhu. I can't help but cry. SUPPER SUPPER RECOMMENDING THIS NOVEL!

This Ishakan will never fail to surprise, amaze, and make you burst out laughters. The way he treat Leah, his consideration, and all his actions is just my taste, and I would dare to say Ishakan now is my top favorite Male Lead ever.

I started reading this novel by chance. Chemistry is great between leads. You can award Ishakan "Best husband" along with Hugh (Lucia) and Riftan (Under the Oak tree). You won't be disappointed. Only thing bothers me is why doesn't Leah realise her fear for Cerdina is greatest but even after losing memories ? Strange, she doesn't believe/feel it? That would have been in her subconscious mind right like how she craves for Ishakan. Strongest feelings can't be submerged. I wish translater can finish all chapters soon. HAPPY READING.

I agree with reviewer ezis that this novel is basically meant for the smut scenes. The translation is very good and that alone deserves 4 stars but the actual story is....... well....... riddled with major plot-holes

This novel has almost half the political intrigue of The Villainess Lives Twice and all the smut it should have to make it worth the 3.5 stars I'm giving it. If you read far enough, everything will make enough sense to read further. It is a nice novel. It is worth at least reading once.

A great story. It starts with a kidnapping, then we have very early many smut chapters. The ML and the FL are interesting: both strong and intelligent, although the FL is also vulnerable at the same time. In the beginning, she has suicidal thoughts.

I really liked this 🥹 the MC is smart and the plot is thick and the ML is the perfect mix of doting & fierce but not abusive in any way, and tbh I even loved the villain Yandere brother who was screwed up from birth. All the characters have depth and the sx scenes were hot because the writing really had you invested in the couple. 10/10 tbh would recommend

Yeah, I finished reading it a long time ago lol and I'm happy that there's a new chapter release, wow. I'm reading the manhwa although I like the novel more. I missed Ishakan and Leah and Lesha too, I hope that their second child is a baby girl that resembles Isha more than Leah. Hoping for more chaps, I love this novel - it's one of my favorite

It was quite a bit hard to finish reading this smoothly. I always stare at the ceiling from time to time because I kept thinking about the plotline. Theorizing. Some comments would make you think too haha. Such as those who said that it's a bad representation of the Romani. It made me think hard. As well as when Leah gave the information on the secret passages of the palace, someone said she sold her country out.

It has a great premise when it comes to the minor plots. Like selling... more>> out your country fort he betterment, or invasions. It would be nice if the author delved deeper into that. While I was reading, it felt like the small plots are just mushed up together. They seem shallow.

However, if the author did delved deeper, it won't be a light read anymore and I won't enjoy it. Haha. I just kept reminding myself not to think any longer and just read and enjoy.

I'm just disappointed with the side stories. Particularly the arc with another Kingdom. I thought they would be a fun and smart characters but they weren't. Kind of expecting that they were cunning and sly. But they're just s*upid and s**tty. I don't mind if those couple like orgy's or whatnot as a royalty but at least make them smart. I would have liked to know more about what happened to the Tomaris more than that arc. Also, more moments with Lesha, Isha and the child in her womb.

I like the leads. And for once, I don't dislike the damsel in distress. She wasn't exactly a damsel when she started to fight back hard but for me it's okay for her to be weak and be saved by ML. She was fighting all by herself, unbeknownst to her and the others for a long time until she snapped and go with her plan. She can be weak for all I care, she deserves the rest.

If you want to enjoy it, just don't think. Lol. It wasn't the best but it's a nice read. <<less

Pleasantly surprised by how good this novel is. Didn't have high hopes starting this because KR romance novels isn't my thing but this was better than expected.

One word to describe this novel is "moderation". The author wasn't overambitious about the plot or worldbuilding. It might sound bad for some but I personally would rather a plot where readers can follow than an overzealous plot that makes absolutely no sense. The main characters are likable and the romance is quite healthy in KR novel standards. Others may find the MC weak and yes, she is weak physically but she's actually mentally strong considering the environment she grew up in. However, expect a slow character growth due to many setbacks but the journey is worth it.

The ML.. Oh the ML is great. I never expect to like the ML this much. As this is a R18 novel so /coughs/ the ML isn't very respectful in that area but outside of that he often puts the MC's feelings above his. He place all his faith in the MC and concede to her time and time again. Unlike other MLs that act like possessives is their only trait and having that "she must listen to me because I love her and knows what's best for her" mindset, the ML here reigns in his possessiveness and supports the MC's decisions. It is only because he is patient that the MC is able to grow at her own pace.

The downside would be that the beginning is a bit confusing because it started with the MC getting kidnapped by the ML at CH2 to her meeting him at the inn for their rendezvous before returning to the supposed timeline. Another downside is that the novel ended a bit too quick as I would've like to see more interactions of the MC and ML especially when the MC is finally free. Without the extras it would feel incomplete.

As this novel is more focused on the MC's growth and escape from the antagonists, don't expect too much from the plot. The writing and translation is great, making it an enjoyable read. 300+ chapters may seem like a lot but the chapters are pretty short as it seems like the translator split the chapters. All things said, this is a novel worth reading so do give it a try! (Would also recommend reading reviews from reviewers that have completed or at read till halfway for accuracy.) <<less
