Reminds me of Mushoku Tensei, but a lot better. It also reminds me of Dragon Martial Emperor, because both MC's used to be assassins in their prior life, but are soft in their new one. Anyway, I like the story so far I do not have much a problem with the harem the MC is building up. I really care for most of the characters that surround the MC, enough that I felt sad about a particular side character. I would recommend this series.

Haha, it just hits you right in the feels.

Well, the MC still a kid is already building his harem and his magic OPness so there's not much to say. Really enjoyable. I'm really anticipating the time skip because it's going to be great.

Truthfully I did and still am kind of enjoying it... but I also should point out that this novel is quite lacking in some aspects....

Well quite a few people seem to point out that MC seem to be rather inconsistent or sth but the way I see it, he was a shishou who was very loved by his disciples so I rather felt that MC's 'soft' spots were rather understandable. Rather, I felt that it was a problem of author's limited ability itself since the author never really made clear... more>> of MC's character nor gave much explanation for MC's seemingly incongruous actions.

And this problem is obviously not limited to MC as well... and as many pointed out, though author does try to give background and depth, the characters are somewhat simple and sometimes inconsistent like the MC....

Spoiler

One of the most befuddling one for me was the princess who was first introduced as highly politically intellectual and sensible literally slaps her father (the king) for using her sister for one of his political agenda... and that was in front few others like some 'trustworthy' servants and even MC... Like what part of that is 'sensible' and especially politically 'smart'? How can a princess who's so politically aware not understand the significance of hitting the king in front of the others much less slap him even if they were interacting as a family not as a royal? Also no matter how wrong her father was... slapping her father much less in front of others is just wrong even for normal people, much less a princess who is supposed to be well-mannered and cultured... yeesh thank goodness this kind of amoral girl is not part of harem and hopefully won't have to see her too much later....

[collapse]

However, the worst part for me was how slow the story develops but fails to address many important issues in depth.... Like even after dozens of chapters the MC's still not even 10... you can probably guess how slow the story develops... but despite having included so much unnecessary info... I never got a clear sense of MC's character and backstory and everything.... Like some of his powers just suddenly come out conveniently and stuff that it sometimes makes me wonder if I was skimming through too much... And this story is just so slow that I can only read the story bit by bit after a few breaks in-between....

So yeah... so far the overall story had been decent and I am kinda enjoying it.... but just do keep in mind that this novel does have a fair share of problems... but what novel is perfect right? If you think you can put up with these 'demerits?', well... I'd say try the novel? I mean it's not a bad novel and you might actually like it... <<less

This is a novel that gives readers mixed feelings. One chapter, you're enjoying the adventure of the MC and laughing as they have fun. Then, the writer will throw a wrench in the fun, and something really deep and emotional will occur, completely changing the stories atmosphere. This isn't nessacarily a bad thing. In fact, if done correctly this kind of change in emotion will keep you invested and interested, and shows the writer's ability to write stories well.

The problem is this writer will take an event that could be... more>> a fantastic part of the story and will boil it down to a few tropes and stereotypes, which just took all the fun and emotion out of a story.

Another thing is the characters. Without going into to much detail, every character (except for one) is boring and just plain bland. The MC is one of the worst since he's supposed to be over 60 yet he acts like what a teenager thinks an old man acts like.

here's my recommendation. Read to roughly chapter 24 and then stop if you want to hold good memories with this story, because...

Spoiler

The only character that you get emotionally attached to and interested in dies at around chapter 20. Elena was the best thing the series had going for it and they killer her off.

Ordinary Isekai series with Nice story and good plot, a kind heart teacher that always protect his student from the shadows, the MC OP is different from the definition of normal OP character. I can say that because his power come from only by experience as a best/strongest agent on earth, well he's got a large mana pool but only have few spell, but because his experience he can drag the potential of those few spell tho the full-extent.... there is one thing I don't like, the storyline is weird,... more>> I can't guess who will be the main Antagonist and it's still blur (ch. 61) but so far everything is Good. <<less

One of the novels, or maybe the only novel that made me cried, It's just that good. The MC is OP which is to be expected of the Transferred to another world genre, but he's not dense, nor just kill everyone here and there. He thinks.

The plot is good, not a perfect one but enjoyable. There's sometimes world building here and there. The companions are lovable and mc's love interest is too.

So what are you waiting for? Read it XD

Very good so far Solid 4/5 the pacing is decent. I hope it continues at this pacing as the writer graciously uses time skips of 6 months and even a year. I prefer this since it stops it from ever feeling as if its dragging on. Also the fact that Reus is there and has a major role and interactions, along with the other male characters, with MC it keeps the harem from feeling overbearing.

Spoiler

Pre-academy arc was really good, the middle of the academy arc with the class challenge for Reese was pretty boring, after the 2 year time skip it starts picking up again and interesting. The most recent fight with Rodwell was also good. I hope it continues the recent pacing with their post graduation Adventurer travels.

This book is really fun to read. I am honest here. It just that the author had made the MC way too overpowered. Though the MC is op, the storyline will still get you hooked on pretty fast. The only problem with the book now is that it getting a little boring. The author is now lacking ideas to put into the story because he used too much of the good ones. It honestly made me lose interest at one point. The beginning gets you want to know more of... more>> what is going on and the middle wants to make you read even more. It just that after volume 8 or so, it gets boring. Lack of story and lack of action scenes. I’m mostly skimming through the chapters now, and only actually read it if it’s getting interesting. Used to be 5 star, now 4 star. <<less

First few chapter has an interesting plot but quickly degraded,

This is the worst Wn I have read so far, Author wrote this series based on what he want to be and we can clearly see what an immature view of story he cant even build up the world in the story properly and most the time the serie is based om Me Me and Me which really pushed me off,

No character development, No Environmental feeling, Shallow plot, Easy to guess where the story going,

Most of the points of this story were mentioned in other reviews. Overall, the novel is enjoyable in my opinion, but it has it's share of weak points as well.

The story is on the childish side. The ruthless side of the MC is rarely shown for the most part. This starts to change towards the end of the school arc, but the overall slightly childish feeling remains, probably due to the low ages of the prominet characters, be it physical or mental age.

Up until the very end of the school... more>> arc the MC, like so many OP Japanese MCs, tries to hide his strength and this only serves to increase the number of people who envy/bully/underestimate him and try to pick on him, yet he only accepts it as natural, while his disciples are warding of any violence aimed at him and try to convince people of his greatness all by themselves. Later, while he still does not readily show his strength and prefers to do the dirty work from the shadows, he at least reveals enough of it to resovle the situation at hand, when necessary.

There are also frequent passages gloryfing western cakes and Japanese cuisine and it does get tiring after after a couple dozen chapters.

And a bit on a side note, the author seems to have a secretary/attendant fetish, as out of the current five members of the harems formed around Sirius and Reus, four either are, decided to become or like to introduce themselves as either one of these. <<less

What you have here is a ruthless OP ex-super secret agent assassin at the level of a demigod who is never actually ruthless. It would be understandable that he, as an old man, has an extremely soft spot for children, but at the same time, that in no way excuses the theatrics if he is a serious person, nor should he procrastinate, as a super serious agent, and he DEFINITELY HAS TO BE RUTHLESS which he is not. This could have been good.

It had the early start and was among... more>> the first WN to be translated plus its nice and solid premise, then the story dies as it tries to be wholly and entirely light and fluffy. When the MC is a killer, you have to make him the darkness that protects the cuteness, not have him be s**ked in until he's a pacifist. It says something about the story when a super assassin feels out of character when killing some antagonists. <<less

(The illustrations are always cute! The translator takes appropriate measures in the translation... ahem)

In essence, this is an isekai where the main character is absurdly strong from his training. The chapters are long, taking upwards of 20 min per each, different viewpoints are used on occasion to highlight a completely separate area of the story, yet all the views are of people who can be considered "Beyond rare". Oh, and he can f*cking dodge bullets by eyesight, 'kay?

From the very start, he begins his training. Training his physical... more>> body to the max, before then training his magical body (magical power quantity?) to the max. Also, either he's hated by the spirits or the spirits are scared af of him.

Here comes the "spoil literally everything" block... sorry.

Spoiler

He is "Attributeless", so he has extremely fast magic regeneration speed (practically instant) due to the air being full of mana (principals' thoughts).

He's the illegitimate son of a noble.

He learns to read & write by 2 years.

He makes up a story to hide his knowledge at three.

He understands the worlds' medicine enough to fetch & compound the ingredient required to remove a "magical" disease, just from reading two books for a few minutes. Kills three goblins (knife, break, magic grenade launcher + sword) and retrieves it.

His old shishou was a f*cking tea otaku, I don't know how I feel about that.

Introduces non-magical ways of creating fire...

Redefines magic by himself using modern knowledge to create a pseudo-handgun, rocket launcher, sniper rifle and kevlar ropes. And 1mm kevlar rope being able to hold 60kg (~130lb) is true from what I can tell.

Then we skip to when he's five. He outdoes his teacher easily, using the generic full-physical boost magic that he modifies heavily, along with an original scaffold based magic that makes "steps" in the air, letting him easily reach the speed of a car. By "harmonising" (syncing... frequency?) with the airs' magic he can fully recover his massive pool in three seconds. Oh, and then there's the generic "search" spell letting him "ping" sonar magic in the air. Oh yeah, it's f*cking hard to follow a person that can suddenly fly above a forest and cover an ocean in minutes.

Saves a generic fantasy beauty Elf being attacked by generic bandits, who treat her as an object. Leaves the bandits to die by bear-sans. Fixes her up, shows her his "Wyvern OHK" magic, teaches her to fly (wind please!), finds out that she's a 252 year old, arranges to meet her after 10 years (by "coincidence", after graduation), returns her and heads home. A week later, meets battle junkie on the way home, beats him up a little, arranges to meet and play with him near daily.

Since I've spoiled the first arc-and-a-half, I'll stop it for now. <<less

If you got interested in this series after reading the description, then I can tell you that you will enjoy reading this book for a while, but you will be disappointed after 50 chapters. The course of the story starts to change, but until then it will be something really enjoyable.

(until school arc 5/5 // after school arc 3/5 // even further beyond 2/5)

I liked the story. I gave it a 5.

Why? Because I was entertained throughout the 13 volumes I burned through.

First, let me address the 'older' woman w/ 'younger' kid thing.

... more>> **minor spoiler**

  • Elf character is decades older than human child. But the writer clearly states through the character herself that she's a teen elf. She's also interested in the kid, WHEN he gets OLDER, as a human. So she gives him a light kiss as a promise. No tongue action. Just a dry, quick kiss on the lips. I got no feelings from it whatsoever.
  • HOWEVER if you do find that offensive. You may just stop reading this review and go somewhere else.
  • BUT... if you will allow me to report another *minor spoiler* : that's it. nada, zilch. that was the ONLY time an 'older' woman kisses or touches our 'young' child in a 'smexy' kind of way. That scene probably amounted to 1 paragraph? The rest of the chapters and novels don't even address that until I think volume 12? (spoiler)
Overall the story is well translated. The tech/magic growth of our MC is NOT too OP and outrageous. And he doesn't just get plot armor to get stuff to save his bacon, he actually figures out problems an solves them. Also if he finds new magic, he will use that same magic throughout the volumes. He doesn't find NEW magical solutions every time there is problem.

The supporting characters are different enough that I can tell them apart. Detailed enough to have their own lives as well.

So give this a shot if you're not weirded out by 1 paragraph of events...

note: if that elf gal was actually an OLD adult elf kissing a true NON reincarnated human child on the lips, yea I'd be kind of weirded out too.

See ya around the commentary boards after each chapter! <<less

It's barely reach 4 stars actually, but there's so many thing I hate personally (like drama, multi main characters,...) and above all, time skip without a clear goal only to progress time, 1st MC almost never improve, what he can do now, he can already do at 3-4 years old. Further more, 1st MC doesn't have a clear personality, he can naturally kill all bandits tried to rob him but "doesn't few well" when kill 2 of 4 nearly kill 3 of his disciples. While the concept of the novel... more>> is interesting, the 1st MC is boring as hell.

That's why I rate it 2.5 stars.

PS: it's 56 chapters now but don't expect a long novel, beside a bunch of boring chapters, there's also a bunch of completely repeat with another MC. It's a complete downfall from chapter call "a fateful meeting", rather it's a "fateful downfall" or a "fateful end" of a good novel. <<less

The story begins well with one of those rare consistencies of pre and post reincarnation stories where the past is inherited into the new world. The MC dies an adult and reincarnates into a manbaby rather than becoming obliviously childish (looking at you kenja no mago). The characters are introduced with solid backgrounds and those characters with bookings to appear later leave you wondering how they will make their comebacks. But of course when they do appear or when certain plotlines are revisited it falls flat. There are certain elements... more>> in the story I wish gets redacted for the light novel or else I think I am done after 80 or so chapters.

Spoiler

Jumping few dozen chapters forward, new character introductions feel very rushed and often interferes with already established characterisations of the MC. (Eg. Hokuto I was like wtf was this character necessary?) When the MC does get to do Emilia it was fitting in a sense but with Reesu and Pia seemed too apathetic which was a downer. When I said the revisited plotlines being flat they really leave you disappointed such as the reunion with the new world father of MC's. Perhaps there was hope in this lineage becoming a huge hinderance in his travels but alas MC muscles his way to a short alberit slightly satisfying conclusion.

I'm not sure if it's a coincidence or whatnot but as I'm currently reading this series as well as 4 others related to main character being reincarnated, I find a lot of coincidence in all of them with this one being different only in the MC being a badass in a good way. One thing that is not exactly to my liking is the emphasis in politics instead of raw action, that the author is giving to the content. Besides all that, the plot and arguments shown in the development... more>> of this WN are refreshing and quickly establishing a good pace of anxiety for the next chapter. The thing about the CAKES and the CAKES ADDICTS, makes me wonder if they actually will develop diabetes. <<less

After 100 chapters I realized the story jumped the shark heavily. It became a forced narrative pushing the MC into really dumb situations. The author does not write the MC as a 60+ year old man very well. There is no wisdom; just raw power. And yet the MC is supposed to be a teacher. He doesn't teach anything, just forces people to basically nearly die training every time someone comes to him for a problem they need to solve and then they solve it with brute force, essentially.
Spoiler

Worse yet, as a grown man he's petty as hell. He gives his father money to allow him to disown his name and the father accepts then turns out they were rigged to blow and then has the gall to say it wasn't his problem and tortures them for getting angry at him. He has s*x with underage children. An older woman comes on to him as a single digit aged child (umm, what?!).

[collapse]

Moreover the MC is one dimensional and the author somehow managed to write the female characters even worse. Read maybe up to like ch50-70 and then find a good stopping point. It doesn't even get terrible. It goes nowhere.

I started reading this novel because the premise sounded interesting, but sadly it isn't really used for anything other than to explain the MCs Opness.

His character doesn't fit with his background and there is no real world building.

Overall it feels like Stuff happens and the MC mainly reacts to it while not really going any deeper.
