Transmigrating Into The Heartthrob’s Cannon Fodder Childhood Friend

Description

The protagonist shou, Xie Sui, was a proud son of heaven. He had an illustrious family background, was cold and removed from desire, and attracted many (psychopathic) admirers. From the gentle senior to the paranoid president, to the haughty and proud arch-enemy, these big guys were all top leaders of their respective fields, yet they were all crazy about him.

After pushing him down a series of mentally and physically abusive paths, the three of them decided to join hands to destroy the Xie Family, imprison Xie Sui, crush his pride, and turn him into a pet that could only rely on them.

While the crowd of readers howled “Wuwuwu the feels~”.

Song Yu was already so angry he was going crazy. Not wanting to read any more of this eye-searingly bad novel, he cursed, “Idiots.” and hurried offline.

As a result, when he woke up, he’d transmigrated.

He’d transmigrated to become the Third Young Master of the Song Family in the novel, who had only been briefly mentioned in passing, would die of a terminal illness, and was Xie Sui’s childhood friend.

Song Yu was terribly upset. At the same time, he’d already come to a decision in his heart––those three idiots, had better not think about wanting to get close to his little childhood friend!

Xie Sui was born cold-hearted. In two lifetimes, he’d never tasted the sweetness of love, nor had he ever experienced the feeling of being protected.

After destroying three big families and personally killing his enemies, he was reborn back to when he was 15 years old. He had to hide the violence and coldness in his heart and pretend to be the youth with a gentle and clean appearance that he’d been in the past.

Everything was the same as before, except that the little childhood friend who was nothing but a vague memory in his previous life was exceptionally different this time.

Like the spring breeze that thawed the frozen soil, someone reached into the abyss and grabbed his blood-stained hand.

Song Yu tore apart a love confession letter like he was venting and fumed, “Don’t pay attention to those people, don’t believe in their sweet words. They’re all scum, and their love is worthless. Don’t like them, okay?”

Xie Sui gazed at him for a long time, then laughed, “Alright, I don’t like them.”

I only like you.

➺ 3/5 🌟

I initially picked this up because I loved the premise: a shou/uke doing literally everything to protect the gong/seme and shield him away from the people who caused him misery. But the thing is, this ended up just an okay read for me.

Though I loved the premise, I think the execution of the plot isn't as smooth and natural as I'd liked it to be and I was disappointed. I noticed that there are also a lot of unnecessary details that could have done without. It would have... more>> been less clunky if the author was more straight to the point. This is the kind of story that will not linger in my mind. I still give this a generous 3 stars because I still liked the MC and ML's interaction. <<less

A very nice story. The school interactions are hilarious, especially the student side characters. The relationship develops gradualy and softly, without any pointless misunderstandings. The transmigration-reincarnation routine is also handled well; I especially liked the slow uncovering of the actual relationship between the MC and ML in the past.

The way the plot connects itself at the end and the explanation about what really happened is amazing.

I just MTL'ed the novel and I'm sure that once every chapter has been translated, it'll be even better. I didn't feel that the chapters were long or draggy.

The system.... well, you'll see. The intertwined fate between the ML, MC, and System is nice to read.

... more>> I kinda wanted to give the system a hug at the end.

This novel is a HE

I love the pace of the story, the characters, the romance, the comedy, everything.

Spoiler about the MC

Spoiler

The MC is the real Song Yu. He was just sent into his "real world" because of the system and the Main God.

1-6 years old - Real Song Yu

6-15 years old - Occupied by the system Song Yu in the story

15 years old - Real Song Yu is back once he "transmigrates into the book"

[collapse]

Mini Spoiler about the characters:

Spoiler

The ML has his memories from the past.

The MC knows the plot of the book.

Other characters will remember their past due to the system interfering and giving their "memories back"

Just read the novel. *smiles*

When I read the synopsis I already thought: "this novel is certainly good". Just based on the synopsis, I could see how deep Xie Sui's affection for Song Yu was... I could see how deep he was.

A 1 in 1 million novel.

Of course, my thinking was not wrong, but it was also not right.

The general idea of this novel is AWESOME, honestly, each character very well done if you think, mainly, Xie Sui. The surrounding plot is also very good, although the beginning appears to be a classic, the Plot Twist at the end contained all the creativity.

But unfortunately, I have to criticize writing a little.

Author, did you happen to publish the draft?

Honestly, in my opinion the lack of depth in Xie Sui was lacking, everything about his emotions was described in a very basic way, and the rest the author said: "instinct".

Xie Sui is much more than "instinct"!

And your thoughts and emotions too.

Song Yu at first said that he doesn't understand Xie Sui's character, and I think the owner of those words is the author.

This disappointed me a lot when I read it, I really expected a deep and moving writing, not causal and superficial as it was.

The author simply showed the "tip of the Iceberg" when he described Xie Sui, and even villains fall into that category.

And the rest of the "Iceberg" was very well hidden in the sea of letters of the work.

Other than that, I must criticize something else.

Author, why did you rush the ending so much?

I must say, the beginning was very rolled, part of the chapters were wasted with unnecessary comments from the forum, not that I hate it, but a lot of that was useless.

And when I remember that, I remember that the author made a little mistake in describing how Xie Sui falls in love. Not that it was the wrong time, but it was so superficial that I was totally disappointed!

And I don't understand, love at first sight? Seriously author? Are you going to leave me with so little of how he felt? Xie Sui deserves more attention!

Returning to the subject, yes, the beginning was so slow that in many parts I almost slept! And in the end it was so busy that I almost didn't understand!

Until the last 3 chapters they were dealing with the villain, and then, the author completely abandoned the other villains with random problems that came from the beyond!

And you tell me it makes sense? Who said that? Come here so I can beat you up!

Then because it was almost the end, he wrote everything so basically with "poetic" and "moving" endings, that he forgot many details that could be described.

There were many scenes that I expected to see and there were many subjects that were thrown into the air and are now covered in fog so that I can never know.

I finished the story and was like, "Oh? Was that it?"

Seriously?

Spoiler
[collapse]

Qin Mo will not retaliate?

Wasn't Song Xu coming back? Where's a glimpse of him?

The Xie family too, how did it end? In a mess? What kind of "mess"?

How did they finish high school like that?

And the Song family? Do they know or not about their relationship?

Spoiler
[collapse]

Should I guess everything?

And another, I hoped there would be secondary couples, but in the end the author left completely in the dark how Song Yu's friends ended up.

Author, did you forget to release some extras?

Anyway, that's what I think.

Just a few chapters out and you can already see so many 5 star reviews with completed status on them. The reason is simple, this novel was REALLY SO GOOD that people did what I did i.e they MTLed it in one go. Mind you, I never MTL novels as the MTLs don't make sense so its no fun at all and also because no novel has hooked me enough to read its MTL till the end. My plan for this was the same as for my previous ones:Just skim... more>> over some chapters but I ended up reading it all because I couldn't stop myself!
First of all, I really love transmigration into a novel concept and this was one of the best ones! And whats more it was in modern school setting!

I adore the MC so much!!!!He's not your typical cutie pie dumbo or your scheming intelligent guy. He's just a norm dude who is 'cute, kind and smart' and SAVAGE. YES, SAVAGE!The thing I loved about him was him roasting people at the speed of light and his narcissism. Your husband Brother Yu! In the school forum and The School Bully at School. He has a backbone and kick a**es!In some of novels, MCs come to save the protagonist of the novel they are transmigrated into but end up doing little. But MC in the whole novel, really helped the ML a lot and the ML also helped in retrospect. Normally, In BLs its all about MLs doting on their shous. So doesn't it move your heart so much when you read the story from the perspective of a shou who does anything as long as its for the ML? Exactly! Thats love! Both parties should work hard for each other!

You gotta praise the ML for being REALLY PATIENT AND RESPECTFUL to the MC too. It was such a breath of fresh air. Even tho he was the cold type (like most BLs) but he didn't fall in love with MC just because he found him interesting or anything rather you can feel the depth of his love and feelings just from his actions and indulgence towards the MC as you read the novel. Even though his character isn't really developed much which is a pity but you can figure out he's not superficial or anything. He loves the MC with his everything! The dynamic between them was so good and cute. It was a school lovestory which felt like slice of life romcom.

The novel as a whole was funny af, had a natural flow and urged you to read more and made you wonder what'll happen next. The side characters had personality of their own and weren't just there for the main couple. Gotta love the MC's family tho.I freakin loved their interactions so much. Its so rare to see this in chinese novels!

The one thing that always bug me about transmigrations is about the person into whom the MCs transmigrate into. It makes me uncomfortable that the body is not the MC's and I always pity the original person. But for this

Spoiler

I was so shocked to discover that MC was the real Song Yu. The author really pulled it well and made me love the story more!

[collapse]

The plot was explained very well with a new concept and plot twists and everything was answered at the end.I loved the way how everything connected from the start to end and seemed to click at once. The explanation of what really happened was really good.

Spoiler

I thought the reason of the MC helping ML so much, his dreams and his fitting in Song Yu's family so well were just minor points but they were all connected leading to the bigger truth! The real story behind the novel "Gentle control" and the identities and purpose of 008 and lord god were so well written

[collapse]

Gotta praise the author for pulling this out so well.I highly recommend it to everyone who also loves "Transmigration into novel" novels like me! This is gonna be one of my favourites from now on.10/10 I would read it again when the translation is finished! Don't even think about sleeping on this guys! Just read it! <<less

So... I've been on board for this since the first few chapters. I love the concept, it's an outright f*** you to all the BL novels out there that substitute r*** and torture for romance. A sweet wholesome couple to directly oppose the trend of yandere MLs violating the person they apparently love.

Unfortunately, I can't continue reading because of how prevalent the presence of fujos in this novel are. Actual self-insert characters who ship their classmates and imagine them in intimate situations.

Spoiler

A classmate starts writing a fanfiction about the main couple, and in a game of truth and dare, the two of them are dared to re-enact a scene where they almost kiss. In front of the entire class. Wtf? Their first almost-kiss was going to be in this setting?

[collapse]

Spoiler

A group of girls start an entire thread dedicated to the 'couple'? before they've even become a couple?

[collapse]

These fujos are literally pushing their fantasies onto their classmates
Spoiler

and making them act it out as a spectacle

[collapse]
. The author uses the fujos as a device to fast-forward romance between the couple by putting them in these situations, as opposed to organically developing their relationship. It's almost like the author is saying it's okay for fujos to do the same in real life. It's not. It's gross.

A real shame, because everything else about this story and translation is at least decent. <<less

I Like (not to mistake it for love !) almost every character in this book. I'll come to read this after the translators put out more chapters ! Thank you translator for picking this gem ! One should read it as it's refreshing most of it is comedy and youthful romance of course the plot development is definitely here and there scattered in peaces leaving you to read on to find out.

But you see both are 15 an age were you should be experiencing teenagers fun ! Youth !... more>> Spring breeze (͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) ! Drama free (not too much! (Like barely!)) ! Fighting ? And your Cute, kind and smart deskmate !

One thing I'll say is how MC always lighten the atmosphere but that doesn't make him OP or even if the ML is cold he ain't flat !

As I was saying, I love the family interaction of MC so much. It didn't go like other book I've read were, I do get they are strangers and all and that's perfectly fine not to, but I couldn't help thinking different soul same body. And by the end of the book some how they are interacting like a family. (๑•ૅㅁ•๑) It made me feel sad but with this one I feel so good seeing MC being so friendly and siblings to his family members and grandparents and relatives. It filled a void and made the story feel completed. <<less

This novel is super cute, fluffy and funny ? MC is a troll on the forum and a wild child in school. But he's super sweet to ML.

The relationship between ML and MC is also super adorable and sweet. Their first kiss melted my heart.

The plot is also interesting and took a turn I didn't expect. There's a bit of angst towards the end but it wasn't that sad imo.

There's also just a lot of really funny moments like the restaurant reviews, the friend that gives awful directions, and the... more>> fight scene with the school bully/tyrant.

Definitely would recommend reading this. It's so good! <<less

I mtl-ed this story. I personally dislike mtl-ing, but due to the urge to know what happens next in the story I had to sit and read through it. This story is something I consider stands up to hype it has been getting. Due to various reasons it reminded me of "The villains all fall in love with me after rebirth" even though they aren't that similar.

I like Song Yu (MC) a lot. He is wild, unruly, headstrong and fearless yet he isn't OP as he has phobia of dogs... more>> and height making him relatable. He can win against anyone through his fists and through his words. He always keeps his word and helps his friends in need.

Xie Sui (ml) is likeable as well. He treats MC very well. He destroys their enemies secretly without involving MC.

Reading the novel, I got envious of the relationship between MC and ML as they have mutual respect for each other and love each other a lot.
Spoiler

Even after they were reborn and didn't remember each other, they fell in love again

[collapse]

This is a complete spoiler to the story. The story itself is entertaining so I personally recommend reading through it rather than reading the spoiler. The story is fluffy and drama free. It made me smile unconsciously. The story also has a good plot twist. I am looking forward to re-reading it again after it gets fully translated.
Spoiler

Characters with contribution to plot are :
MC : Song Yu/ sy, ML : Xie Sui/Xs/ the original protagonist of "Gentle Control", Zhao Ziyu : gong 3/ original ML of "gentle control", Qin Mo : gong1 (helps MC realise his feeling for ml) , 008 : system and lord god

Plot :
MC transmigrated into the book "gentle control" and is given a mission to complete the role of cannon folder sy by a system. He defies the system which bought him to another world without permission and sets out to make Ml's life easier (cause he felt Sympathetic towards ML for what he had to face such a tragic plot line) . He helps the ML (who is reborn and has already experienced the "plot") Ans spend a lot of time with him. This leads to ML falling in love with him.

During this time, MC starts to have dreams revolving around the ML (that they were in a relationship and dreams from their childhood) and he realises he is the actual Sy from the book and due to reasons was transmigrated to another world but when his substitute ('sy' who MC thinks in from the book initially) dies was bought back (MC and ML are childhood sweethearts) . ML realises he has forgotten most of details of MC from before his rebirth. As the plot progresses system fools MC and tries to stop MC from loving ML and says gong3 is ml's soul mate while ML slowly recovers his memory. MC Gets frustrated and jealous But decides to believe in reality and becomes a couple with ml.

MC and ML come out to each other about the rebirth and dreams. From these confession It is revealed that MC and ML where together in the past life and MC had promised ML that MC would be there with ML to face his high school trauma if he ever had a chance which he unconsciously does fulfill. Even when ML had his memory of MC erased he still fell in love with him again.

Gong3 is MC 's childhood friend. MC also realises that gong3 has a system and he also has past life memories. Gong3 actually loves MC but got manipulated by the plot and system to get crazy abt ML even when he didn't want to.

lord god (y the hell is he a gambling rubic cube ????) becomes really upset with MC and tries to trap him out of the world. Lord god wanted the worlds energy which can only be gained by love/hate value of the ML (original MC of the "gentle control") . The book was fake and was only used to control the characters such that the ML would have maximum hate for gong1 and gong2 but maximum love for gong3. But because of MC (who lord god couldn't control) , the plot turns haywire and he could only get a bit of hate energy from ML (which was cause MC gets killed). So he decided to erase all the characters memory and giving them opportunity to rebirth while sending the MC to another world.

Gong3 realises this and comes to save MC and destroys lord god. Thus without the system and lord god MC and ML have a Happy ending.

Oh GOD, totally my cup of tea.

PLOT BUILDING AWESOME. I even read spoiler tags, and it was perfectly ended. All reasons are logical. There was basically nothing out of the places. Perfection!

Also so heart warming.

... more>> It shattered the stereotype of MC getting transmigrated into the novel and became couple with the gong of the novel. MC fell in love with the protagonist shou. It was the main point that makes the novel shining from the other BL novels.

the MC started out with a normal IQ and then a few chapters in he suddenly became a "s*upid little cute" type who somehow turned into a naive and pampered learning slag that's only good with his fists (but has a kind heart) between one chapter and the next without warning. Am I the only one that felt this novel was subpar in comparison to the high ratings or were my expectations too high?

I won't talk about what I was expecting, but I'll highlight a few points I felt was a turnoff in minor spoilers below.

Spoiler
  • The MC is a hotheaded brute. May be it makes sense since in the first life, he came from a military family?
  • The MC lacks finesse and mature planning even though he has lived two lives. I am unclear on how old he was in his first life, but it sounds like he at least graduated from high school, possibly a college graduate? May be his soul is assimilating with his current 15 yearold body so his IQ/EQ became like a 15 yearold?
  • The ML is a lil too calculating and manipulative for my liking. I understand this is because the ML has been reborn, has a tragic past, and etc., but this is really not comfortable when the ML is calculative and manipulative towards the MC.
  • All the villains are two dimensional and almost carbon copies of each other: they have inferior complexes, elitist mentalities, likes to trample on the "average" people, etc.
[collapse]

Overall:

I felt like this novel was overrated. I might come back to this again when the translations are completed. I give special props to the translation team though, the translations are very well done! <<less

At first glance, this appears to be your traditional transmigration/rebirth into a dogblood novel with lots of anticipated retribution. And at first, that is the case.

However, about halfway through the novel it becomes clear that MC's memory is unreliable, and the plot changes.

Spoiler

MC turns out to be the original character and was sent to a different dimension after he inadvertently changed the plot in his previous life by becoming lovers with ML and thereby incurring the wrath of the main god.

The reason why they both rebirthed back to age 15 is because MC had wished that he could meet ML at that age so he could protect ML from having to suffer from a lifetime of hardships.

[collapse]

Both MC and ML are strong characters. MC is headstrong, unruly, and fearless. He is adept at both verbal and physical beat downs, but tends to use his fists to solve his problems. On the other hand, ML is more inconspicuous, preferring to work in the background in order to make the biggest waves. Nevertheless, he lets his little lover do whatever his heart desires. Together they make a great pair. The romance is slow to start due to their initial circumstances and ML's cautious personality.

I appreciate the way that they handled the subject of ML's mother's su*cide. Too often, su*cide is portrayed as being an easy escape/so selfish but there were real underlying problems that led up to it.
Spoiler

She really tried her best to be a good mother but ultimately failed. Her su*cide was an aberrant attempt to provide a better life for ML in the hopes that either his father or mother's families might notice him after her death.

[collapse]

There wasn't so much fluff in this as this novel was more plot driven and I would have liked to see where they ended up in the extras. Nonetheless, a excellent read filled with great dialogue and a healthy dose of humor. <<less

Best school life danmei for me!!! ? I always get annoyed and bored with danmei tagged with school life But this one is so good!!!! I keep laughing every chapter and the MC is not annoying to me.

The author captured the readers by writing the tragic events of ML as well as his thoughts so u won't feel annoyed even when he teases the MC.

The MC is strong, physically and financially but is sick and a little naive. He is not like a white lotus nor like an annoying shou like other novels in their teens portraying school life.

Though there are cliché parts, they are okay. There's also a story twist. note for myself

Wow! Unexpectedly, this is a fav for me! I was pretty hesitant about it at first because it's very clearly a high-school, slice-of-life story, but the author hit all the right spots when it comes to the characters! There really is no need for an exciting plot with such strong main characters and side characters running the show. And, even beyond that, the author was great at keeping things interesting despite the relatively vanilla setting. Altogether? Worth the praise in the comments and 1000000000% recommended.

CHARACTERS:

The cast of this story,... more>> while not necessarily realistic, all jump off of the page. They're lively and have solid foundations, making it easy to like them!

Song Yu (MC) : The MC in this novel is called Song Yu. He's a transmigrator who has just finished reading a pretty rotten story about a boy called Xie Sui. He can't help but feel empathy for this character, who was undeniably abused by the author of the story. And, when he finds out that he's been transmigrated as the protagonist's childhood friend, he decides to go straight for the kill and change things.

He's a great MC! He's very proactive, so there's never a dull moment in the story where nothing's happening. He's also incredibly likable. He's definitely a bit OP, but most importantly, he's rather silly at times. Very cute!

Xie Sui (ML) : The ML and the original protagonist of the book that the MC read in the beginning. He's had to suffer through quite a bit. But now he's back with memories of his past life! He's very crafty and very cold, softened only by the MC's soft and bright existence~

Important Side Characters: The MC's classmates feature a lot, and they're pretty memorable because they cause a lot of fun shenanigans LOL. The MC's family is pretty notable too! As for the ML's relationships, most of them are pretty toxic DX but the ML only needs his Yuyu anyway...

ROMANCE:

This is a very sweet kind of romance. ML falls in love first, and MC is oblivious LOL (not a spoiler, cause it's pretty clear from the summary pfft). There's a pretty substantial focus on romance, but this is not an explicit novel, so the vibes are pretty pure!

SETTING:

Modern setting, with just a little bit of a sci-fi taste (?) because of the SYSTEM and everything. The story is very youthful! The main characters, while old mentally, are in high school throughout the story, so the conflicts are mostly school-level conflicts. Very vanilla, as mentioned!

PLOT:

Despite the vanilla setting, the plot is pretty spicy. There are lots of potential trigger bombs here! The story is pretty non-descriptive and mostly hints at the bad, but there's no denying that there's plenty of bad here. Not just because of the ML's background but the character settings of the people that he was related to in his past life. There's also the underlying mystery of the MC's transmigration, but that plays second fiddle to the face-slapping and the main character's romance.

RATING:

My rating for this is very close to a five! Maybe 4.8? I'm actually very willing to give this story a full five, but since it was not fully translated when I read it, I had to rely on the MTL for the last 20 chapters or so T.T So, IDK whether my confusion about the last couple of arcs is because of the MTL or clumsiness on the author's part. Eh, I don't really care, I still really like the story regardless! Despite the darker, mature themes, this story is full of sweetness and laughter. I definitely will be coming back to reread this when it's fully translated~ <<less

some things that seem really improbable / OOC at the beginning, though that might be because MTL makes a mess of time-related words

but I'm going to round up

A little shaky in the beginning because of what seems to be plot holes / superficiality in the writing but as the story goes on, more and more is unraveled before going to the core of the matter

Beginning is full of red herrings and characters have to use careful thought to piece together the

mess of different recollections and narratives to truly remember and move past the past

For that reason, the plot is a lot deeper than it initially appears

Like Transmigrating into the Reborn Male Lead's Ex-Boyfriend, the setting is Transmigrator x Reincarnator, but the difference is that

it is actually Lovers in a Past Life uncovering and resolving what kept them apart and gave them two lifetimes of misery

Like other reviews mentioned, there's a number of funny and really sweet interactions between the MC and ML, as well as with the rest of the cast. Something to consider is that the two of them don't work on an unbalanced power dynamic. They solve their problems together; one person doesn't just wave his hand to fix every problem the other person has.
Spoiler

Song Yu just waves his fist. (Jk but also not really) The ML is able to fight off everyone too (they're both OP fighters, especially when it comes to those cannon fodder side characters) but he just basks in the MC protecting/doting on him in an admittedly violent manner.

Easy to MTL. Would recommend. It's really a case where the story gets better the longer you stick with it (as more and more is revealed, piecemeal style). <<less

The cover of MC pushing ML against the wall and him holding ml's waist happens in Chapter 105

Spoiler

Song Yu gritted his teeth, pulled Xie Sui's clothes all at once, turned himself into the master, and pushed him against the wall.

Xie Sui's eyes curled, and he hugged Song Yu's waist.

The walls are covered with green vines.

The night wind turned cooler.

Song Yu raised his head, offered a kiss, and said softly, "Waiting for you."

Like the wind that fell into my arms.

Mint smell fills the tip of the nose.

Before July, it is already the taste of summer.

Felt obligated to write a review to remind myself that I've already read this and not to read it again. The summary was extremely appealing not gonna lie, that's why I got baited into reading it a second time. However, the execution wasn't the best.

First off, I was prepared for some childishness based on the "school life" tag but wasn't prepared for how boring it was. Initially the MC seems cool being able to hold his ground but there's so much meaningless fights happening later that I have to doubt... more>> if they are 15 year olds. The forums also became too much and seems to just be there to fill up the word count. Side characters aren't memorable because it's just a bunch of children shipping the CP together or dragging the MC into fights. Had to skip through so many dialogues because much of it wasn't relevant.

The character I liked the most is probably the ML. The MC was alright at the beginning and seems to have a good head on his shoulders but the author decided that they wanted a brash and juvenile character so his character collapsed after entering school. The MC's transmigration and ML's rebirth was the part that kept me interested and the author did conclude it well so that's a plus. What I liked the most was the romance because the ML was patient and gentle. The MC's dilemma about ML's liking was also conveyed logically.

Although many bad points were listed, it still boils down to my personal dislike for the stale school plot and mindless fighting. However, if you like dramatic school life stories and sweet romance then this might be for you. <<less
