I think we're ignoring sth important. ML was a psycopath but FL is also a sociopath. She wasnt really nice. People around her thinks she is kind and caring but she simply does this to assuage her weak conscience.

You will notice that she doesnt really feel bad. She knows what's right and wrong but as long as she "tries to save them" that's sufficient for her irrespective of the results.

As for her intelligence, I'm undecided, I feel she vacillated a lot. But she isnt really written as some smart FL.... more>> The story portrays her as one with an ordinary level of intelligence. What's unique about her is her conscience.

If you notice she's really accepting of the Duke including even his psycopathy. She tried to correct him at first but later just gave in and pretty much decided to live with it. This was before she knew about him being the villain who kills her.

So this isnt a story about the beautiful, wise and angelic FL. It's one about the beautiful FL who just needs to feed her conscience some crumbs to satisfy it. <<less

Honestly, this novel was a RIDE. Lydia is not dumb, but she does have some preconceived notions that lead her to believe what's going to happen to her is set in stone. They do *actually* explain what the heck is going on and why things changed, Ash's insane indestructible munchkin powers, and all the rest. I was impressed by how well everything was wrapped up in the end. There's also an impressive amount of tongue-in-cheek humor throughout the whole novel, and the side characters are some of my favorites ever.... more>> Ari, Davery, Dylan, Gyerg, Bessie, Alex, and the butler are FANTASTIC characters who all have their own personalities and idiosyncrasies.

Just to clarify, from pretty much the beginning of the novel Lydia is aware some messed-up stuff is going wrong. In literally the first chapter, when she's 2, she remembers about her previous life where she was killed by a stalker at 21, then at 3 or 4 finds out she's adopted and thinks she's going to get kicked out. The end of the chapter is a 7 year old Ash giving an 11 year old Lydia the maid tied up and gagged as a birthday present and her getting mad at him for being a psycho. And Ash is already an insanely powerful munchkin and flat-out psychopath even before Lydia discovers the book no one else can read that tells her about the heroine, which leads her to develop her initial escape plan. Then Ash mu*derates the heroine and the crazy race is off to a glorious screwed-up start....

I have to admit, I adored the other characters in this book. Davery especially is a much deeper character than at first, and Ari was just adorable and silly. The relationships between people is beautifully written, and it makes them feel very REAL. There's always a lot of back and forth banter between Lydia and just about everyone, because girlfriend can contain her sarcasm and wry humor. She's a lot more bloodthirsty than you give her credit for at first, and honestly is a bit sociopathic herself - I blame Ash. It's hard being the lone moral compass for the whole darn group.

In short, they MEAN the tags for this one - yandere and psychopath especially. But it's also very much a screwball comedy with a happy ending (and I'm SAD it's not smut, because there would be a LOT of Happy Endings for all parties involved, and that's always GLORIOUS) that is genuinely funny, heartwarming (for a certain value of heart), with a very sweet slow-burning romance that once it takes off is one of the most solid relationships I've ever gotten to see. Lydia is funny and cares about the people around her very genuinely, but still doesn't take crap from anyone, and Ash is a completely mu*derous, psychopathic cinnamon roll who is completely laid back about everything as long as his darling is happy and safe. They're ADORABLE. <<less

The FL annoyed me at times and the ML has NO PERSONALITY at all. Gyerg, the half-demon, who only appeared in some chapters have more personality than the ml. The story is decent but it’s not my favorite and I dont think I will go back to this for a second reading any time soon.

I remember dropping this couple years ago because of the first couple chapters' writing style (the fast pace and the blandness issue) but since I finished this, we can deduce that I have more patience to bullsh*t now. And yeah I was entertained but I can't say I enjoyed reading this.
Some of the problems that come to my mind:
-The writing is never really good but in the beginning, before the time skip it's a mess. I recommend you to be really patient for a couple of chapters.
-ML isn't around. He usually pops out only when there is a need to be saved. I don't believe we get to know him even though he is the male lead. He is a background character. He rarely talks and when he talks he says "why" half of the time.
-Common sense usually isn't there. FL's choices are just to make the story longer and more annoying. FL is... ugh... straight out a moron. I had to cancel my brain just to read this book. I skimmed a lot when she was telling about her plans and how she'll do stuff. Many of her actions can just be classified as unnecessary.
-My heart goes for Sir Davery and Gyerg...
-There was more detail in the side stories than in the main novel. It's honestly surprising.
That's it.

The first few chapters were hard to get through because of how silly and reckless she was, but she became pretty likable after that. She still has her moments, but it's reasonable for her situation. She even gets made fun of for how pointless her struggle was in later chapters.

Many likeable characters. I love her interactions with her knight Davery-- he's probably my favourite character. Ash's love for her is admirable. It starts to slow down by the end, and the side stories are kind of dull besides maybe one... more>> of them, but overall an easy to read and enjoyable story. <<less

it's not horrible but personally, it was boring to me. I did complete it though I skipped quite a few chapters here and mostly I just wanted to see how their relationship develops and at least that part didn't disappoint. although it happens very very later on in the novel I love how proactive the MC was and how cheeky she is. I love it when the fl's like to seduce their men XD

Still, the romance was truly lacking much and even before in the early chapters their relationship was... more>> dry and boring. the story flow is so-so the characters are meh~ and even the events in the story have no wow factor.

the concept was good but the story really lacks life or maybe it's just not my up-of-tea? idk it gave me a lot of JP-novel vibes... and not to hate on p-novels but anyone who has read them knows how the dialogues are and ho annoying the MC's thoughts can get... <<less

I really have high expectations for this one because some reviews said this is fluff.

Then I read the first few chapters and rage is all I got.

How could you do this kind of s*upid thing FL how!? I was still mad at 50+ chapter because not only the FL is annoying for me she barely interact with ML I was so sad I skimmed some part then after a while it got better and better and better.

i love this novel so much. Its non angsty and pretty drama free. Really worth my 2 days

That was so good. I loved it. The main story along with the side stories, everything was perfect. And I love that they will be together for thousand times more aaaaahhhh! Loved it. But I wonder why the rating is so low here. Albeit, it's a little slow at first, but it's amazing. I didn't even skip anything. LOVE!
