There are holes in the sky, in the sea, and in the ground all over the world.
From the hole came all kinds of monsters that could not exist in the world.
The world was destroyed, and people with special abilities appeared.
Survivors who survived hid all over the world and lived like bugs.

And the ability that I was given in that hellish world.
It was to rob the other awakeners of power.

I love the story, and very like it. Just one thing I don't like from the story is..

Spoiler

The author introduced a lot of side characters but then killed them off or just abandoned them altogether as if they're not the least bit important. I know they're "side characters" and they're in a world where a lot of people dies, and the author is just being faithful to the story. Well this is just my personal preference, but I don't like how the author treat side characters. Well even one main character died in the end so I think it's normal if more side characters died? Idk

It's not bad for its genre. A typical humans vs monsters story in a post-apocalyptic setting.

The main character isn't particularly callous or calculating. He tends to prioritize what's necessary even if it means making some sacrifices, so he might be best described as pragmatic. He doesn't run into many moral dilemmas, and when he does they're usually resolved pretty quickly, creating the sensation of a veteran soldier enacting a speedrun. However, the premise is enough to carry the story for the large part.

There's a bit of a pacing mismatch when... more>> you compare the early chapters to the final arc. Some plot threads and characters lacked focus by the end and it generally could've used either a more compact cast or more clear/developed themes. When you hit chapter 180 or so, you begin wondering how the author plans to wrap everything up in 29 chapters.

It's rather dry if you were to compare it to other stories in the same genre, which could be related to the third person perspective and military elements. On the whole, it's like a war drama without the melodrama, so don't expect any really emotional deaths or particularly deep character interactions.

Ultimately, despite how well 80% of the story was written, I ended up feeling like there was quite a bit of missed potential. A different author might have explored themes like romance, monsterization, friendship vs duty, or butterfly effects to a greater extent, and might have incorporated them into an exciting grand design during the climax. The fact that it's this readable is more of a reflection on what other stories do wrong than what it does right. <<less
