Tilea’s Worries

Description

With the progression of his Chuuni Disease, Shioda Tetsuya is shunned by his family, and dies in despair, a thirty three year old jobless virg*n. He vowed that if he was born again, this time he would stay away from delusions and live life seriously. Fortunately, he reincarnated in another world as a girl named Tilea, and lived a happy life with her kind parents and adorable little sister, but…

Lately, she’d been troubled. Her beloved sister had begun talking about how she was actually one of the Six Demon Generals, serving directly under Demon King Zorg, a descendant of the Three Great Demons. The situation was looking bad. She had to do something before this Chuuni Disease got any worse!

This is a fantasy “misunderstanding story” about a protagonist who has not noticed in the slightest that she’s a “cheat”-like existence, and how in her efforts to heal her sister’s Chuuni Disease (except that she really is one of the Six Demon Generals), she somehow or other ended up setting out to defeat the Demon King.

A misunderstanding comedy that probably only misunderstanding comedy enthusiasts would understand.

I'm giving it a 5/5, because it's one of my favourite series, and I wouldn't be translating it if I didn't love it.

Fair warning, don't read it if you're looking for your typical fantasy story, because you're really in the wrong place, and will end up like idiots who want to destroy their phones.

The characters are a little ridiculous, and the misunderstandings only escalate, never resolve. And that's the point. If you've read misunderstanding comedies before (like Angel Densetsu), and... more>> you know what you're getting into, then by all means give this a go. Comedy is a finicky thing, and what might be perfect for one person can be bland or even insulting to another, but you'll never know until you try. <<less

Don't believe what any of these guys say. It's a story about a guy that reincarnates as a girl after he dies because he was dumb enough to jump in front of a moving truck. The MC is a delusional idiot that repeatedly refuses to accept reality. He's OP as hell and is stronger than a demon king. However he keeps passing off everything he sees as "chuuni." He's an ass that looks down on everyone because he doesn't realize how strong he is. I got up to chapter 20... more>> before I got so mad that I had to drop this series, otherwise I would probably break my phone. Please let me know if the MC finally gets his head out of his ass. Then this series might be bearable enough for me to continue.

Edit: I see you estel. Don't be hatin' when you know I'm right. I can understand liking it if you're into that sort of thing but you have to admit that as an objective story, it's a bit much. (At least you did what I ask by saying it only gets worse) :3

Shout out from 2022. <<less

The jokes get old fast.

The translation is excellent, explaining the jokes/allusions well.

But the problem is that you have a clueless idiot protagonist, and the whole world is also holding an idiot ball.

... more>> Remember "Comedy of Errors"? Take a similar premise of "misunderstand everything" and then run that joke into the ground.

It's fine for cheap laughs and in moderation. Don't read this all in one sitting - it really makes the experience worse. Comedic fatigue sets in quick.

There are great comedic set pieces and situations take individually, but there isn't enough contrast or "Downtime" for you to appreciate it at all.

You know kind of like how Shakespeare masterfully uses comedy to cut tension and give breathing/development room for his dramas (such as in Macbeth) ? Well Tilea's worries doesn't do that at all, showing a complete lack of understanding in pacing and comedic timing.

Turn off your brain, and it's somewhat enjoyable if you also wipe your memory after every chapter.

Look, it's a good fun laugh a chapter at a time. But A comedy that stops being comedic if you read multiple chapters at once? 3/5.

Spoiler

For those of you who don't know, I rate novels on not how much I personally enjoy them, but rather on how well they do what they set out to do.

I wanted to like this series, and I really tried to like it, but it's just too painful.

There's so much wrong with it, but let's cover the main points...

  1. The MC is brain damaged. It's the only explanation I can think of for how she can so consistently fail to succeed in even the simplest of thought processes. It's like her brain switches off the moment she has to think about anything other than cooking. Sure, it's funny at first, but after 3 volumes she's apparently still at it.
  2. Every one but the MC is capable of rational thought EXCEPT when around the MC. Too many characters just accept really s*upid and obvious inconsistencies that only make sense from the perspective of advancing the plot. There's only so long a constantly examined misunderstanding can survive for before someone notices that things don't add up, yet the characters here fails miserably in noticing even the most blatant changes in behaviour and personality.
  3. The MC constantly forgets she's reincarnated. Or rather, that's the only reason I can come up with for why she's constantly processing everything about her current world in terms of her previous world. I can't help but want to slap here every time she refers to something using concepts that outright can't exist in the fantasy era world she's been living in for nearly 2 decades.
  4. The MC is a smug condescending pest. Her response to anyone trying to give her information, regardless of how little she knows about the subject, is to talk down to them, tell them they're imagining things and/or feed them lies to get rid of them. She constantly insults everyone and when forced to make a decision based on common sense versus her sense of self importance she picks self importance every time.
  5. The only times the MC actually rejects her belief in her own superiority over others is exactly when something demonstrates her real OP stats.
The joke was funny for the first chapter, after that it rapidly changed to just making me angry every chapter.

It's a misunderstanding comedy that manages to remain fresh, despite the repeated misunderstandings that you know are going to happen going in.

The Main Character is Over Powered to the point that it takes a boss character to even scratch her, and she needs to be this OP, because she is so hopelessly self-deluded, into thinking everyone else is deluded. She rationalizes everything away as normal, no matter how absurd. But this is part of the charm. Others also fail to realize that she fails to realize what is really going... more>> on, so you can't help but laugh at the absurdity of the whole situation, while they manage to pull through, time and time again. <<less

Don't trust low reviews of this series, but please PLEASE understand the genre of the series as well

If I read an "action-comedy" series, the dense idiot MC is gonna be annoying, but if instead I read a "comedy - MISUNDERSTANDING" series, then is natural the MC is dense as a rock, don't expect the MC to suddenly become bright or realize his/her misunderstandings.

People who didn't like it because the protagonist is extremely dense just don't understand what a misunderstanding series is about, is like expecting people who like yaoi... more>> series to hate the protagonist because he is extremely gay? -_- it just don't make sense.

If you like and understand what a "misunderstanding" series is about, then you will love this series, the MC is dense, naive and waay too delusional, and will remain that way for the entire series, because THAT'S THE POINT, there is no growth in character, no sudden epiphany, is just pure madness.

I just literally laugh at every chapter, the translation is terrific good and the setting is quite original, I was getting bored of other world ACTION novels who focus in dumb MC too OP and cheep cliches, but this is a gem I found by random luck, is highly recommended for those who want a fresh view in the other world reincarnation genre with the twist of misunderstandings elevated to a whole new level, for those who want a dumb OP MC without personality go read Sword Art Online or stuff like that. <<less

The main character is s*upid from the start and remains so throughout the series... but that's what makes this series stand out. The MC is so dissociated from reality (a trait brought along with her previous life) that she is unable to see reality. A great twist is that whenever it seems like someone is going to burst her bubble... [spoilerspoilerspoiler]

Non-stop laughs all around, and a full recommendation for anyone who enjoys a good comedy, or even the more orthodox other world stories like Death March and Isekai.

Summary: Tilea's Worries is a wonderful heartwarming comedy about one girl's quest to bring happiness to her family through the power of cooking! Or so the main character thinks. Somehow she ends up in command of the EVIL GOD ARMY and sows chaos in the world all without even realizing it herself. Tilea's story is a "misunderstanding comedy", meaning that it derives comedic value from all the misunderstandings Tilea gets into. This goes on and on and escalates through the story, building to something really big. When does it stop?... more>> NEVER! There are no brakes on this trainwreck! That's the beauty of Tilea's Worries. This does put some people off though, so keep that in mind. However the story doesn't falter and makes one wonder if everything will crash spectacularly hahaha.

Tilea IS a genderbent character, but unlike what a certain ret*rded homophob *cough* Takokings *cough* says, it has no real bearing on the story. This story is a comedy NOT a romance. Further more Tilea clearly appears as a lesbian. For someone to say otherwise is a pretty strong indication that they have not actually read the story.

Plot: The plot of Tilea's Worries is pretty much as seen in the synopsis. It's nothing special and the plot isn't the main draw of the story. It works as a vehicle to carry the jokes forward. It shares the reincarnation aspect and fantasy world of many such stories, but that in no way detracts from the story. Tilea's Worries is simply not about the exploration of the fantasy world, so the generic setting works fine.

Characters: The characters really carry this story forward. From Tilea's kind but super dense self to Nileson's LOYALTY, all of them have something fun to bring to the table. Seeing the characters interact and play off each other while escalating the misunderstandings is a lot of fun.

Enjoyment: 4/5 Recommended! Tilea's Worries is a fun low calorie comedy that's sure to get a chuckle out of most people. As long as you read it with a fun mindset and aren't expecting EPIC ACTION AND FACE SAVING REVENGE STOMP (Well actually, this does happen hahaha) then you'll probably like this story. It doesn't have epic feels, insane world building, or adrenaline pumping fights, but if you want that stuff, you should look for the appropriate genre. Give it a try and see if it's your thing. It sure did get me to laugh! <<less

Oh my god! The Protagonist is really dense but 'idiot' would fit him better. There's a limit on how s*upid can you get! Seriously? I know that you're an otaku in the past and now you wanted to turn into a new leaf and it justifies the fact that you don't want to overestimate yourself again such as thinking that you're special but there is a limit to that!!!

Dude, you f*cking transmigrated into a f*cking fantasy world! How can you think that everyone that says 'I am a demon' has... more>> an 8th grade syndrome? First and foremost its fantasy, magic and swords so there is no denying it as impossible! You don't believe your sister saying that she was a past general of the Great Demon Army and you said to her that you were transmigrated.... aren't you being an hypocrite? First you say that you can remember your past but can't believe that she was reborn... so you're implying that you're the only one who have the rights to remember their past life?

The MC tends to overthink even in the most smallest thing... but the thing I can't comprehend is, he introduce the game 'mahjong' to the demons but ultimately lose at it... see?

He also tends to look down on people and overestimates his 'special knowledge'. He overthinks the most pointless things but cast aside the most important ones. He looks down on an ex-C ranker adventurer (smth like that), even after the descendant of hero says that its hard to become a C-ranker he still look down on him thinking that the ex-C ranker is just a loser... you're an ex-otaku but you think that a fantasy world is a normal world.

He also gets flustered all the time.

I can't really understand his way of thinking and I can't help but to label him as an annoying ex-otaku with superiority-inferiority complex.

Honestly, there are more things I wanted to type but thinking of the MC's ignorance is pissing me off.

The gag was pretty much good at the first chapter but as you go deeper and deeper the gag becomes annoying. <<less

Had no idea what I was getting into with this. Apparently "misunderstanding comedy" is a thing? At first thought I would've figured this is not my cup of tea, was expecting more "oh great, another shitty jap novel." Nope, this is god damn hilarious and the "misunderstanding comedy" part is actually quite well done.

All-in-all actually a good read, and one of the better stories on this site. Only possible downside is that 'misunderstanding comedy' might not be your thing, but give this story a shot. It's genuinely funny.

So as you can see from the reviews this story is (oddly) divisive. On the one side, you have the people who understand jokes and on the other side you have the people who vote 1 because they don't understand jokes.

haha

No, but seriously. The entire premise of this story is that the MC is a huge moron. The kind of moron that makes those dense harem protagonists look like quick witted intellectual powerhouses. The MC is REALLY s*upid. And about 95% of the jokes in the story play off of... more>> that fact. If you can't accept that basic premise you are not going to enjoy the story at all.

If you go in expecting a serious plot, you will be disappointed. If you go in expecting the MC to epically resolve conflicts and rescue girls and collect a harem ala every other isekai ever, you will be disappointed. If you go in expecting serious resolutions to the serious problems that crop up in the story, you will be disappointed.

Basically, if you go in expecting anything except for jokes and comedy, you will be disappointed. And then you'll probably leave a 1 star review lol <<less

One of the best comedies on there is on NU! And really a must read! Of course like all comedies, it is important to note sense of taste in jokes. If the comedy does not suite your sense of humor, the story becomes extremely painful to read. Hence why in general comedies do poorly in ratings, it all depends on individual sense of taste. So I would first read a few chapters and see if it meets your sense.

The MC in this story is super OP, like literally over 100X... more>> stronger powerlevel then everyone else. Except she does not notice it and thinks they are an ordinary cook. Her sister then claims to be a demon general reincarnation (which she is), but MC thinks she is Chunni instead and sets out to set her sister straight.

The misunderstanding are endless, and really funny. From taking down dragons thinking they are puppies with illusion magic on them to facing off the demonlord army thinking its a chunni fanclub. A must read if you enjoy misunderstandings.

There is only 1 demerit I find to the story, Tilea sometimes goes a little bit overboard in explaining what Chunni is and how it works. To the point that it sometimes takes up half a chapter just to explain the chunni. Its to the point where she might as well be a teacher in a classroom analyzing chunni to the detail. Maybe it appeals to a certain other comedic sense, I don't know. But other then this 1 thing, is comedy gold! I haven't laughed so much on any novel.

Now to address some of the complaints I noticed from others:

  1. Some claim MC is ridiculously s*upid to not notice these things. But at same time, even the smart people are not noticing these things. Have they maybe considered there is a powerful spell cast that insures Tilea does not find out? I mean its a world of magic after all! The MC is also in pretty huge denial too because their Chunni lead to their deaths.
  2. If you find the comedy annoying instead of funny, don't bother reviewing! You reviewing a comedy that is annoying to you is not a matter of quality of a comedy, but your personal sense of humor. There are plenty of comedies that other people like which I do not, since I don't like the comedy in those stories, the story ends up annoying. But I don't go rating it poorly because it does not fit my sense of humor.

Actually very very funny! The plot is all based on misunderstandings, so there is the risk of it becoming boring and repetitive, yet up to the last translated chapter there was a bit of development, so I'm optimistic about that.

The characters are all likable, so no complaints on this side. The style is good too: it's not easy to keep up with all the misunderstandings that drive the plot and keep the story entertaining, fluid and readable.

I normally absolutely hate "misunderstanding" comedy and dense, OP protagonists. Tilea is one of the most dense protagonists I've seen and the story just throwing misunderstanding on top of misunderstanding without ever resolving any of them. So I rated it 4 stars of course.

I made it through the early chapters because the main characters are cute. But with that much density, it soon reached critical mass and somehow started being funny. So now it's cute and funny. And I want to find out if Tilea ever resolves any of the... more>> misunderstandings. Somehow I think they'll just keep piling up and then it'll end with Tilea going "Well, that was an uneventful life. I'm just sad that my little sister never graduated from being a chuuni..." but I do want to see how she'd react if she does notice.

So yeah, I started caring about the characters (good), I wanted to see what happens next in the story (also good), the protagonist - while dense - actually drives the story (why does that feel noteworthy?), and the setting keeps getting more developed with each arc (nice). And aside from Tilea herself, everything else makes sense within the setting. The questionable parts are the protagonist's density (if you can't imagine anyone being denser than [insert character], well, Tilea's at least as dense) and that the story and humor are heavily dependent on misunderstandings.

While enjoyable in low dosages, consuming large quantities of Tilea in a short period of time may cause irreparable brain damage. Please read responsibly. <<less

It's been and always has been one of my favorite LN's to read. In short, it's a comedy novel, and built on some misunderstandings a clueless MC. It's a fresh gag novel, with tons of different funny scenarios that the author leads you through. It's a comedy novel first and foremost, so if you're looking for complex plot, then this novel really isn't for you.

It's a novel with fantasy elements, but all these fantasy elements feed into the gags and comedy, and to be honest, the characters in this novel... more>> are surprisingly well developed and characterized for this type of novel. The plot, while simple, is pretty good, and pairs with the overall theme of the story very well. The setting gets varied, new characters get introduced, and dialogue is always fresh. Scenarios don't stay stagnant, and there's always something to look forward to when reading the novel. <<less

A great novel for people who like misunderstanding comedies.

The MC annoys the hell out of other people though but that's to be expected since it's an otaku, chunni, jp MC and a misunderstanding genre to boot.

Another reason why I like this novel is that the MC is an elf lover like I do. Lol

The MC's s*upidity is beyond remedy, but the story is good. My advice: don't try to follow the MC's thoughts or POV (he's too s*upid for you), treat him like a side clown character and follow Camilia or Jessica POV instead.

It's actually very enjoyable that I did a marathon from chapter 1 to v3c22. (I did eat and have some sleep though)

This is a good, if tiresome, misunderstanding comedy.

It's good, because it is mostly funny. The misunderstandings and the MCs antics are usually hilarious, especially when viewed through the eyes of secondary characters, such as Timu or Nielsen. In fact, I could only honestly recommend the parts of the story that are not told for Tilia's POV.

And with that said, we come to the "tiresome" part. As much as the misunderstandings are hilarious, they are suffering from a serious problems: Tilea is ret*rded. I don't mean that as a... more>> derogative, she is literally, near-brain-dead levels of ret*rded. Now don't take me wrong, a comedic story of this kind requires the protagonist to be a bit of an idiot for the misunderstandings to begin, but they are usually an endearing kind of idiot, like Kitano from Angel Densetsu, who is so good-natured that he cannot even wrap his head around other people challenging him to a fight, so he tries to rationalize their taunts resulting in wacky hi-jinks.

Tilea is different. She is a reincarnated chuuny NEET who is convinced that her little sister's sudden declaration of being a demon general is just her being chuuny too. That is a funny premise. Tilea turning out to be super-powerful without her being aware of it is also funny. And then it all goes downhill from there as the conflicts keep escalating along with Tilea's rationalizations to a point where event a five year old child would figure out something was up... and then it gets even more outrageous than that, and yet she is still in the dark. In short, any chapter with Tilea as the POV becomes less and less funny as the story goes on and more and more face-meltingly irritating.

Thankfully the other POVs, while still kind of annoying at times, never get as bad as hers, and later on the author even introduces Jessica, a character who is fully aware of just how broken (and ret*rded) Tilea can be and actually saves her city just by tricking her into fighting the bad guys, which I appreciated a lot.

Overall this is a fun, if sometimes irritating, series (even more so than any other misunderstanding-comedy I have read), but there is one thing you have to keep in mind if you wish to give it a go: this work might look cute and funny on the surface, but later parts (especially the second arc) contains some absolutely disturbing "fridge horror" moments. For example, as it is written in the description, Tilea's little sister becomes a demon general. That is quite literal, and even though the protagonist is in serious denial about it, the little girl she grew up with and adores is literally dead and her body is taken over by Camilla, the True Ancestor of all vampires and a psychopath who would massacre all of humanity in a heartbeat with her very own hands if left to her own devices. And that's just chapter one.

So yeah, I would actually recommend reading this series in small doses, only skimming most of Tilea's POV chapters from the second volume onward and just not thinking too deeply about how all of the quirky side characters are monstrous mass-mu*derers who are presumably killing innocent people off-screen all the time while the MC is not around. Like that, this is a fairly fun series. <<less
