Here I thought I was reading a dainty world-hopping novel (... which I generally give up on by the 2nd crossover) but I actually ended up with a sci-fi thriller with psychological overtones. Who would have known?

It's definitely not for the faint of heart as it tackles hard subjects but the FL, who is one of the most emotionally complex and engaging protagonist I've read about makes this novel a stand out!

It deserves all the stars :)

4.5/5.

I usually don't like QTs, but I liked this one. Each QT has purpose and drives the plot forward. No pointless drama. No pointless dogblood.

I have to say that the tragedy tag is very true, and I feel absolutely bitter about the romance tag... well, read it, and you'll see.

The only thing that I didn't like about this is—that it ended. 136 chapters is just too short but strangely, just enough to build the story.

Heavy read. There are sensitive topics. Not HE.

The world building is simple but when you step back you realize it's insane. Our MC is powerful, and not powerful at the same time. You'd understand it if you finish it.

... more>> For the plot:

The plot twists this story had given me the first time made me so cautious for the next chapters. In the end, I really liked it. There were a few plot holes (if you nitpicked, but I'm not an as*hole so...) but everything was perfectly woven together it made perfect sense. The author also use foreshadowing to the best of their abilities, I'm in awe.

Heads up, read until the third arc, the first arc might put you off because of how "cliche" it is and how weak Han Yanyan is but everything will be worth it! It's nothing like any QT webnovels like I've read before and trust me I've read a lot.

Anyway spoilers:

Spoiler

This is a set up like QT where the MC have a system and she needs to jump from one world to another. But in truth, the setting is in an intergalactic world more advanced than any scifi movies/book you've watched (the author did not really explain in detail just hinted at this so take my advice with a grain of salt). She was kidnapped from earth to stimulate the brain of the dead to make them live (basically) and the one who kidnapped her would get paid. She's being kept in a cabin (like a capsule something that could store a person while they were sleeping and in the virtual world). Han Yanyan was kidnapped to be a builder/architect to make different settings and plot for them. If she dies in that world she could also die real time. It centered around this young duke who was assassinated and unlike other people who just needed one world (could cause any extrema emotions e.g. trauma, love, betrayal) to stimulate their brain, this man need four lmao. So she met him four times.

[collapse]

For the villain:

Spoiler

Leo parker kidnapped Han Yanyan so that she could be used as an architect. At some point our girl seduced him and tried to kill him after making him both love and hate her. Since he didn't have any physical contact for the longest time he get aroused with her by making s*x dolls with her face (basically but they are robots since they are tech advanced) but he realized the only person that would make him satisfied is the real one.

So trigger warning there's r*pe.

[collapse]

For the ML:

Spoiler

By chapter 80 I was struggling to find the ML lmao. There were many potential (?) but some were extinguished right away while some are hard to guess because of the twist and turns.

I was wishing at the end of the story that there wouldn't be not because no one deserve her but because it was all complicated. And I was right.

Well, for me there's none, that's what.

There were hopefuls though:

Li Zhou - the system. I feel like if I have to choose between him and the one I will discuss later I lean more on him? Because he's the one who accompanied FL for a thousand years but at the end of the day and from his words, he is just data.

He could enter each worlds and inhabit diff bodies. At one point he became one of HY lovers Chengyu and she really loved him.

Yao Callander - (correct me if I'm wrong lmao I MTLed it) if this is a normal QT I'd choose him. He has the power, the looks, and the charisma. Usually if an MC meets a man consistently in diff worlds bam! he's the ML. However, uhh, they could've ended up with each other but the FL was too mentally tired for a relationship I guess after suffering for a thousand years (she spent a thousand years jumping from one world to another).

This novel is GREAT! It's definitely not a happy story, but it also can't be considered a sad story. She did get what she wanted in the end. It just talks about what life is really like. In the end, even if you win, you can't keep everything. In some ways, you will still lose. I don't know if there is a ML in this story. But if there is.... read the spoiler if you want to find out.

Spoiler

The ML should definitely be the system!! The duke is okay.... but the system has been with the MC for more than a thousand years! Always reminding the MC not to give up. He helped her in her final battle for freedom. He DIED in the end though!!!!! TT ^ TT

In all, this story definitely deserves 5 stars. Try to go beyond the 2nd arc before you drop this story. You see all these reviews, basically all 5 stars so don't drop it to quickly. <<less

Summary is misleading! This novel is the best MC growth, coming of age, no romanticism - a let's throw the harsh reality and complexity of humanity in your face masterpiece. This is a novel for a mature audience with contents that may trigger some people, like r*pe and prostitution, however, in no way does this novel glorify it, so read the tags carefully before starting this novel.

If you're looking for a novel that romanticizes world hopping/quick wear transmigration and a HE-love-can-conquer-everything novel, this isn't for you.

If you're looking for a... more>> refreshing, heart wrenching and realistic story of struggle, psychological growth and a study of the human psyche and its complexities. This novel is for you.

If you're a masochist, this novel is also for you. My heart's still bleeding okay? You will not be okay when you finish this novel.

Give it a shot and read at least to the 3rd world arc before rating this novel or deciding to dump it. <<less

?????

One of the few books that I just have to leave a stellar review for. Before proceeding to read this, be sure to prepare your box of tissue cuz the emotional rollercoaster is no joke you guys.

i came for the romance but stay for the MC. It’s no joke to say this is one of the best character growth novel I've read so far. The romance is not bad in my opinion but it certainly aren’t the main focus.

the end left me with a nagging sensation that it should not... more>> have been like this but also with the feeling that this is the best and most perfect ending that could be used to conclude the ML’s tragic journey.

But dang it, I was rooting so hard for them to finally end up happily together.????? <<less

This is one of the most unique quick transmigration stories I've ever read. I like the female lead, strong and cunning, able to maximize what she has to get what she wants. Some of the plot in different worlds are quite common, but their endings have twists in them, making the story unpredictable. There are multiple male protagonists here because the story is not centered in romance, but the MC's struggle and her journey all throughout.

I MTL'ed halfway of the story, so I might have missed or misunderstood some details,... more>> but it is still suprisingly coherent to read. It definitely contains some heavy topics, all is paid for in the end. I did like the bittersweet ending, and the closure for each character. I definitely recommend reading this. <<less

I've resisted making a NU account for years, but I've now made an account literally just to rate this novel 5 stars. I hate tragedies and I got into this novel by accident (I most likely wouldn't have read it if I had noticed the tragedy tag first) but I completely do not regret anything. I've been reading the google translated version of the original nonstop for a few days now, at every free moment, and now I'm just in a state of ?? Where my heart can't go up... more>> or down. The writing is so freaking good that it's evident even through google translate, I just want to rave about this to anyone who'll listen.

The novel itself has a lot of exciting up and downs, with the climax being full of action that makes you hold your breath. As others have said, the character growth is amazing and realistic, and you really root for and like the protagonist through everything. She's satisfyingly smart but not unrealistically so, starts weak and slowly becomes strong through conflict and determination. It's really fun to follow her strategies and problem solving tactics. Whatever tropes you know and expect when reading this novel, it will subvert. This novel is not a romance, but there is romance, and it is just as well done as the best quick-transmigration novels. But as the novel progresses, you'll really realize that it's not the focus, even as you enjoy it.

Is the ending happy?
Spoiler

No. Is the ending heart-rendingly sad, hopeless, or desolate? Also no. The protagonist does get the freedom she wants, in the end, and she's not in a bad situation either. It's hard to describe, but the ending just leaves you with conflicting feelings of loss, emptiness, and hope.

[collapse]
Like, this is not the best way for things to turn out, and it's not the way you wanted things to turn out, but it feels just right, like this is how it should be. And it's still a little bit open, letting you imagine what will happen next. It's not satisfying, but you completely accept it.

Spoiler

But the fact that this novel has no extras or afterstories makes me so unhappy!!!!!!!!!!! I feel so unresolved!!!!!!!!!!!!! I need to know what happened after they went their separate ways!!!!!!!!!!! God!!!!!!!!!!

[collapse]

I really hope the author writes a sequel, but I know they won't and it just kills me. <<less

If you want a sweet story with a beautifull love, go somewhere else. There are drama, sadness, failures but it's a very good story, well constructed and very different from the norm.

First, the story is good and well constructed. It's about a woman who was forced to work for a "system" and how she fought to gain her freedom. The worlds were well constructed and there is no nonsense in the plot (expect the first and third who were really cliché). It's not a soft and cute story, the MC... more>> is forced in doing things that are not normaly acceptable but she does it to survive and it's what she must do in her situation. Also, s*x is not taboo or perceived like the embodiment of love but more like a normal thing and a mean to pleasure. It's not a story with only one layer, you can perceive more layers and see the story diferently. It's really interesting when I think back on different situations of the story and why it's like that.

Second, The MC, Han Yanyan, is in the begin, just an ordinady woman who is a little smart but she doesn't stay like that for long. She grows with the worlds she goes on and became a strong woman but it's not by choice that she became like that, she did it to survive and live freely. You can understand her and her choices to achieve her goal and how and why she changes so much.
Spoiler

Personaly I understand her but I can't be like her, she is so strong mentally that it pains me how she can support the inflicted suffering.

[collapse]
It's a very good point of the story.

Finaly, the love is not everything! In some novels, love is always beautiful, happy and everlasting but not in this novel. Love is cruel, you can love someone with all you have to get nothing from them or you can suffer by the loved one. There are a bit of romance but it's not the most important point in this story.

I really like this story, it's different, interesting and amasing but I'm really sad at the end, I want to cry for the MC and in the same time I can't because I feel that she doesn't need it, I know it's s*upid to think like this for a novel but it shows how this MC touched me. If you don't like to be sad or angry about a character, don't read it but if it doesn't matter, go for it. <<less

I just randomly read this for leisure to escape from assignments. Since I saw the rating is good, and the synopsis is interesting and sounds funny, I read it without really paying attention to the tags.

I would smack my past self real hard if I can turn back time.

Up to 3rd Arc, I've already paused my reading several times- to calm down.
My heart was in turmoil, my eyes sting af.

The loving, sickeningly sweet moments MC had with whichever ML in that world hurts my feelings so much cuz of... more>> my trust issue.

The author did a very good job making this novel a tragedy. I think I need a few days to rest before I continue.

Guys, this is a tragedy. As much as it pulls you in, it also gnaws on your heart. <<less

Excellent novel, great world building. How our MC grows from a human to an OP character back to an OP human is really incredible. Love the ML and all the plot twists! Totally worth reading, it's a breath of fresh air in all of the other mediocre world hopping/transmigration novels. I love how she goes back to redo some worlds or keeps some of the characters as well.

Pros :

The impression it left is truly something. First, MC is a female, in some novels, they make weak female MC or inhumane female MC with no feelings. This one however, show us that the MC can be desperate and helpless but also show us that she can be better. The ending is the best for MC, author didn't write the ending for us, but rather for MC.

The development of MC is something I've never seen before. She's human and gradually sealung her true self from the outside world yet... more>> in the end, she still catch some feelings here and there. I'm glad the ship didn't sail, cus we really don't need it. MC just need a good time for herself.

The arcs are okay, it's a good twist that MC actually went back to the world where she failed so she could change the ending.

Cons :

It's such a heavy read but a good one. The first arc is just unbearable because of how ML treat MC but it's actually more believable than your usual ML met MC then he fell in love and changed into a totally different person. Some might find the ending unsatisfying but IMO the MC only need herself, her freedom and some time alone. <<less

This transmigration story is... different.

Han Yanyan as the MC, grown from the naive writer who likes dog blood plots into a.. super ruthless woman that matched with the power she got.

At first, I thought that this novel is one of the usual quick transmigration plots with the MC trying to woke up ML and thus travel through every world with him and yada yada. But that was not true.

... more>> The world building is done so well that I cannot predict where the story is going.

I hope the translator would do a good job in translating this novel. I would be waiting for this novel to be fully translated before I come back to read again. <<less

I'm so inlove with this novel. At first, I thought it was the typical QT, and then I saw that it only has a hundred plus chapters, so I got curious why is it so. I remember reading a QT too with only a few hundred chaptera and it didn't disappoint me, so I expected this novel to be similar to that too. But HECK! I am so wrong!!

Character development? Check!! You can definitely see how MC changed through the experience.

An OP MC? Meh, our dear MC is OP with... more>> her cleverness. Not because she is a genius or something, but she used her own skills and knowledge PLUS experience and intuition to achieve her goals, which is sooooooooooo "YanYan look at me!!" Lol

It's kind of angst and sad, but the situation explains it very well that it somehow made me satisfied on how MC completed her goal. At first, the completed missions confused me too, but thanks to our clever MC, she made me understand lol.

At last but not the least, the romance? MEH!! Screw that, MC is mine!! Lol

Spoiler

Not really specific spoilers, but some of you might get some clues from my words here. NOTE: THIS IS JUST MY WORDS I REALLY WANT TO SAY AFTER FINISHING TGE NOVEL.

So, I just finished the MTl. Thank you for the translators who picked this up and set the background for me through their amazing translations (especially translator Crystal, you are amazing!). I'll read this again in their translation.

It's a wild ride. First of all I really like this story, among all the quick transmigration story I've ever read, this is the best one for me. The story are not monotone and the character also very much different. It's a fantasy like flying cars stuff. Meaning that it's seems magical but still in logic. It's relatable story, everything is connected and carefully written. The concept is amazing.

There is not much of a setback for me actually, but sometimes I could get too engrossed on the FL pov to feel her confusion... more>> and all the negative feeling, that's kinda make me depressed. Also the tittle is very much explain the whole plot but at the same time kinda feel it don't fit for the story too... Idk

I don't want to spoiler it as it really worth for you to read it carefully, and I hope there is many other who will grasp the same feel as I am when reading it. But let me give one

Spoiler

Leo and FL will reverse the roles.
