Unable to bear hurting the villain he helped raise, but when it came to compensating with his own body, the unfortunate, straight male reader figured he’d better escape… …

Many years later, the same unfortunate saint rubbed his neck, asking, “This is a dog collar you put on me, isn’t it?”

The handsome villainous boss gave a glance with his elegant, almond-shaped eyes, and then replied with a devious, charming smile, “That’s to prevent you from running away again.”

“If I stay put, will you refrain from destroying the world?”

The beginning of this novel was quite promising and I quite liked it initially. After halfway though, it became pretty lame with the MC looking super weak and helpless when compared to the ML and the ML being way too over-bearing. It started grating at that point. I MTL-ed it to completion, skipping many chapters in between and pulling out what little hair I have along the way. Overall, 4 stars for the first half, 1 for the second, averaging out to 2.5. I really liked one of the author's... more>> other books and I like the style, just couldn't stand this pair and setting. <<less

MC's personality is quite likeable and I appreciate how strong willed he is. Smut is *chef's kiss*. In a saturated transmigration market this story does add a few interesting twists. (See spoiler)
Spoiler

MC returns to his home world multiple times and his actions are reflected in how the published story's plot turns out.

[collapse]

Cons:

ML is borderline tr*sh who sexually abuses/r*pes MC. Varying degrees of quality in translation. Multiple plots left unaddressed - see spoilers

Spoiler
    • ML learns MC is from another world while attempting to bring MC back from the dead. MC and ML never discuss it.
    • Mysterious masked benefactor of MC is never revealed or discussed ever again after playing a key role in saving MC multiple times. Masked benefactor spends years making sure MC doesn't die and unceremoniously poofs when convenient to the plot.

The third section is definitely different from the first two but the change in the MC makes sense if you consider that

Spoiler

The MC is not himself. He is a puppet. So, he appears uncharacteristically weak, whining, a plaything. He is definitely not the pillar of calm strength that the ML fell in love with and I imagine that if the MC did not die and then get reborn, the Demon Lord would eventually get over his years of accumulated horniness and realize that this is not the man he loved. By the fourth part, the MC is back to his old lovable self.

Meh, this was just okay. Like many reviewers noted, it start off well and then took a real nosedive later on. The plot became a bit repetitive and predictable after a while. I really wanted to laugh after a while because of how nonsensical the plot was.

Spoiler

The first time MC "dies" and goes back to the real world it's okay, aww okay. The second time you're like, sure? By the third time it really turns into but your princess is in another castle!

Did MC even spend that much time in the transmigrated world? It really seemed like he spent a few months here and there, died, went back to his world, then transmigrated back after skipping a few years.

[collapse]

Insofar as MC and ML's personalities, MC is the typical do-good-love-everyone white lotus type MC while ML is black bellied and of course his raison d'être is MC. There's not really much else to their personalities. Not too sure what happened with MC and ML's romance. MC did a quick 180 from reluctance to devotion. I guess it's the power of the d*ck we'll never know.

A few big plot holes at the end...

Spoiler

Who in the hell was the mysterious master? What happened to the protagonist? Where did the rest of the side characters disappear to??

Prior to reading this I have really high expectations for it--

But damnnnn I was so disappointed lmao. Initially it was okay the build up was quite satisfying then bam it becomes real damn weird the plot gets more and more questionable and kinda annoying tbh. Later in the middle it gets better, but then it gets worse again. I am 100% disappointed in this book and I wish I never had read it.

2/5 for effort lol

... more>> Low-key I wanna cry and not in a good way after reading this.

Idk but if you like real creepy real yandere tropes and damsel in distress shou then I guess go ahead and read this

But personally it's just sometimes so normal but sometimes so damn extreme and I can't keep up with it (plot wise and character wise atleast)

And I gotta agree with a lot of the comments it's really damn r*pey <<less

This novel is very unique from the usual transmigrated novels I read. In this one, the MC travel back and forth from his world to the book which is unique from the other ones.
Now why I rated 4 is because I was disappointed in those things!

1. Our ML is the protagonist in the novel here so he is portrayed perfectly, so I was expecting that the protagonist in the book MC transmigrated to will have some characteristic qualities too. But no! The protagonist in that book ShaoXi (don't know... more>> if it is correct) was just a childish chatty. He was nowhere near a protagonist which kinda destroyed it for me. I mean I don't want a perfect hero but I was expecting someone like at least the brother of Lan Wangji (in the FOD) , not some childish impulsive and unrealistic kinda hero. I don't know if I am explaining myself correctly and you understand my saying but I quite disliked that part.

2. That MC, tsk tsk tsk*.. he is really not my type of shou! I love badass shou like Wei or cunning shou like Zhou Yensheng. I don't do with his kind, he is too weak and when I thought it will be a character development I just go disappointed.

That is all I didn't like, if not I love reading about the beasts, they so cutely described and I love how unique this transmigration was.
Personally I don't care that much about the yandere ML or r*pe... I mean I already read the tags and was prepared, I skip it if I was uncomfortable. <<less

It's soooo original. I don't feel like it's similar to MDZS or self saving scum villain at all. Never a dull moment from the beginning to end. I was skeptical at first, but when I read the first couple chapters, it got me hooked. I think the first few chapters are really important into getting a reader's attention. Anyway you won't be disappointed. It's got all bittersweet scenes and the smexy scenes really hit the spot. There's no r*pe!!! The villain refuses to hurt the MC in any way. 1. Translation
The translation of the first and second volume are realy good and without any major issues that effect the story.

Unfortunately thats not the same vor Vol. 3+4. Especially the first chapters of vol 3 are rather hard to read, though over time you get used to edit it while reading. It seemst Bonbon leveled up during translating and finaly learned more tenses than present, so it gets easier to read.

But please let the imperfect translation not be a reason to not read this pice since you will miss... more>> out an a realy great story.

2. Story

This is about Ling Xia who passionately followed the harem novel "Laughing Proudly Under the Heavens in an Alternate World”. The Story developed over years, starting from the protagonists and villians childhood and their love/hate relationship with eachother. Though the villian had as much fans as the protagonist, no one saw THAT ending comming. [Just thinke Game Of Thrones Season 8 all over again]

So imagine Ling Xia's surprise when he went to sleep in his bed and opened up his eyes lying on a dirty street, greeted by some brat. It didn't take him long to figure out where he was, who that brat was and that sully looking brat next to him. He just transmigrated into this novel and met the child protagonist and child villian... still without any might and living on the streets. What about himself? Oh he became just a mob charcter, destined to die as a meatshild soon, but hey this is him now and he geeked out on so much novels he would simply change the story from now on so that it will never ever come to that disgusting end.

So while changing his own possition to be the "older brother" type he truly startet to like those kids and did everything in his might to straighten dem out... not knowing he might be bending something along the way. So starts a Story of becoming family and more.

3. My humble opinion

I love this Story.

Well I absolutely love Volume 1+2. There is no smut yet (well a little bit though) but its full of feelings while having adventures. I liked the flow and anticipation. The Story realy made me laugh and cry.

With Vol. 3+4 there starts the Smut... and the story gets lost.

Vol 3 starts realy promising and it seemed like the author was going to introduce Ling Xia anew, this time with a big bang... but in the end she lost all the steam like 2 chapters in.

I think the Author went from a realy detailed and good Story to a cliche Lovestory. Don't know why but the world that was vast, simply became an enclosed little place and the author left some parts of the story drop and unanswered.

Spoiler

In the beginning Lin Xia is especially anxious to have good communications with Ah Jue (villian) to never let a missunderstanding happen. Especially in Vol.4 it's the absolute opposite and they never speak about the important stuff. Not even in the extras! Instead they simply have s*x. -.- (yeah I like the smut like everyone else but this crashed the character a bit)

Also I would have loved to see LingXia upgrade the swords he did for the two kids.

I didn't get it either why he had a bald eagle as a beast in the end instead of some earth or wood type. Made no sense either aside from his "nursing the poor little thing" attitude.

[collapse]

Though it gets a bit mushy at the end, I still absolutely recomend to read this Story.

Since a nearly perfect story lost steam and transmuted to a rather cliche story I give this 4/5 Stars. Too good to be just 3 stars but not as good as it could have been, so no 5 stars. <<less

saw the reviews which were disappointed with the latter half of the story, and I understand and agree with their views lol.

however, I think it's ok. it's not that bad! I still loved it very much. it is still a good read. it's still a worth read! just don't expect much for it to have a fanbase because of the world building, unlike founder of diabolism ^^? but if you're only looking for romance/smut, yandere semes and humor, this is still a perfect read!

hm, let's see. I personally loved the... more>> first two volumes. the world building was epic and the MC was hella cool in it. their adventures were great, the characters they faced. the plot, its building was awesome!!! idk how to explain it hshsh but it was really awesome and got you really hooked. the dialogues and interactions were funny and perfect. I fell in love with how the MC was strong, how he persist through the trials and was badass in his own way. we don't often see badass big bro mcs, right? (or is it just me lol) the pacing was perfect, the descriptions, the characters, the world, the premise, everything was rlly, , good. that's it. iz rlly good. makes you expect for more adventures and pain.

however... however. after volume 2, all that plot building, all those characters, all those adventures and experiences, all those... were thrown away LOL it felt like they were simply scrapped by the author in order to focus on the romance between the Villain and MC xD to the point it made me think that the author did it on purpose. like, the author took the easy romance route and threw away the original outline xD I actually felt bad for the Protagonist. he had those adventures, his harem, his fate, all set out for him. he was supposed to be the main character to stop the villain; he was supposed to be strong. in the end, his presence shrunk in the same size as the side characters and magical beasts lol. I would've liked him to be more involved and shown to be more powerful. the first two volumes which involves lots of action scenes which got u on ur tippy toes are non-existent in the last two.

the first two volumes explained the story following the original novel which was v unique and good. the second two volumes are a bit creepy cough haha. MC changed. from badass to a damsel in distress xDD ending was also.. a bit unsatisfying for me. xD

overall, it had the potential to be great, godsent levels, fandom levels great, but didn't. ^^ but still great and lovely! I still recommend you to read it! it still deserves its 5 stars <3 <<less

typical BL "MC transmigrates into canon fodder novel character" story. Starts off pretty good, unlike most of these stories he doesn't use "future knowlege" to get ahead. In fact, his "tech world" knowlege is pretty useless and has to be protected by those around him. ML is possesive rapist who keeps destroying the world because he's depressed and bitter.

I really loved the beginning (first 2 volumes), I really like bl and these type of cultivation stories. I also love stories where the male lead is devoted and isn't necessarily the white knight.

I started losing interest in the middle of the third volume, just got boring and I wasn't liking where it was heading. I just couldn't continue through volume 4. I'm not a big fan of non reluctance but if its done well I can stand it. This wasn't done well and I was tired of the ML... more>> by the 4th volume.

One point that kind of really bugged me was:

Spoiler

how quickly he decided he was in love with the ML. One moment (vol 2) he was so sure that the ML was just just confused and he wasn't gay blah blah then he goes back to his world and all of sudden when he goes back he is deeply in love with him (vol 3). Mind you he hasn't even been in this other world for a year yet and he first meet them when they were 10. I don't know, it didn't feel like growth of character to me, more like a sudden change brought on by nothing. Maybe if it was more gradual and he thought it through, It would have felt better.

[collapse]

I was just disappointed in this novel's last 2 volumes. If you have the time and the synopsis interests you, give it a shot, it might be your cup of tea. <<less

noncon in V4. MC loses his memory and ML can’t control himself so he disguises himself and r*pes MC several times. Even if you’re lovers, consent is a thing, you know????? Especially when your lover doesn’t know he’s your lover! V3 is also rather dubconny

My interest faded midway through volume 3 and by volume 4 I couldn’t bring myself to finish it. I would still recommend it to others to give it a try. It might be your cup of tea, although it wasn’t mine. The translation was done very well and I am very appreciative to BonBon for that. <<less

All, I can say is: What a waste.

Vol. 1 was a genuinely good xianxia story. I was legitimately exited even though I rarely like xianxia with a male protagonist—they always have op cheats for no good reason and treat women like tr*sh... anyone care about character anymore? This was actually good. Non-op protagonist who works hard in order to become strong. Great.

Then the BL was added in and it became dog blood drama with r*pe and s*x... lots and lots of s*x. I was like: How did a xianxia become... more>> a p*rno? *insert want to cry but has no tears expression*

I really want to cry to the author... If you want to write a xianxia write a xianxia, and if you wan to write p*rno, write a p*rno, but can you please not write a p*rno disguised as a xianxia and play with my heart?

The sincere thoughts of a tearful reader. <<less

The tag of yaoi in this story make you know it was a pg rate boy love. It not an innocent shounen ai.

In volume 1, it was a bit slow with the main character bonding and fighting scene in detail description but I enjoy the villain and MC cute exchange along with the villain protective gesture to MC.

Until volume 2, there started the pg-15 rate.. I mean no *** scene but it become closer to that. The jerking, the french kiss and so on but no penetration, if you dont felt comfortable stop reading at volume 1.. Their relationship was changing more to 'comfort' each other and MC still didn't recognize his feeling although he was was showing opposite reaction. The male lead basically appeared only 20% of all the story so just ignored him.

While in volume 3, the author really not holding back his/her imagination *drooling*. This was where a hardcore fujoshi like me was squealing and fangirling to the max, their romance begin and so did their first sad ending. It was a hardcore pg-18.I was tearing up at the end of this volume (I dont want to be spoiler, read it up lazy ass)

Of course it doesn't stop there, in the volume 4, it was so sweet how the villain trying to woo his lover back (spoiler: MC lost memory), if in the v1, the MC tried to get villain's attention but in v4, villain tried to get mc's love. And yes, there a lot of pg-18 rate stuff. Doesnt mean his lover lost his memory, the villain will hold himself back. And now im waiting for more.

If you don't like wimpy and weak MCs, then this novel is not for you.

I literally sighed heavily multiple times with how the novel is turning out.

Wimpy why? The MC backs out in almost every fight - dragging the 'Protagonist' and 'Villain' away with him - bows down his head, and just takes whatever crap the opposite party does to them.

Once I finish reading Volume 2, I'll come edit my review again. I just hope it turns for the better.

honestly i’m surprised by how emotionally heartfelt and caring the MC was towards the ML (villain) and protagonist. Like by the amount of emotion it made me feel. Their interactions are really genuine and really makes you want the best for them. I began this expecting another generic levelling up bad attitude ML, but he’s really cute, and furthermore, really cares for MC in his way. I love the family and trust (like someone mentioned in another review) that there is.... really excited for another update!

So here's my main problem. I don't like the side story. The story of the "hero" having all these 10 yo girls fall in love with him and one day join his harem makes my stomach turn. This is why I don't read stories for boys. I sympathize with women. Secondly, the protagonist is 20 something mentally and the main characters are 9 or something and I can't ship that romantically. I care a little about mental ages. And with yaoi anything below age 15 is shota and kind of... more>> taboo. <<less

Pretty damn good, I would recommend this to anyone who is fine with BL.

Volume 1 feels like a pretty standard and normal non-BL novel, I almost wondered if I was reading something else instead.

The MC is pretty hilarious, cliches and tropes are used in a good way that amuses you.

Plot is interesting, I like it very much. One of the better BL novels out there.

The story just gets worse and worse. By the time volume 3 rolled around, I was tired and mentally done with this novel.

I decided to try and stick around for the first 3 chapters of the third volume, but the direction it was going in left me cold. So I dropped it.

I have nothing much to say about this mediocre underdeveloped story.

I don't want to rate it poorly, but I cannot muster up any good words about it.

Do not recommend.
