4.7/5 is probably more what I would rate this novel. It has a really great story and a really cute romance. As a story about transmigration, it probably isn't the best. Other than occasionally kind of knowing what will happen and occasionally arguing with the system, Chu Yu doesn't really use the transmigration to his advantage. If that was better written, I'd definitely give this story a 5/5 in my heart. The romance is super cute and I love how dense Chu Yu is at first. Xie Xi is also... more>> super adorable! Third Shidi and Chu Sheng gotta be the best written side characters of all time. They are both hilarious! The characters are all super well written and the plot is quite fascinating! I always feel so bad for Chu Yu and Xie Xi for all the suffering they have to go through.
Spoiler

I think its awesome how literally all the main characters are gay... All the ships are so cute haha

It's sad but it's also hilarious. The MC is trying so hard to help the ML hook up with his harem but the ML just wants to know why his crush is throwing girls at him. Don't read this in public if you don't want the reputation of that one guy who's crying at their desk or the weird kid who laughed in the middle of math class. Trust me, I have experience, I am that kid!

I've read a fair few novels where the ML "bends" MC and I generally enjoy those. I even enjoy a number of possessive ML's.

But I find ML to be really, really overbearingly r*pey. I guess the difference is MC's attitude and whether he is consenting to this possessive relationship. (PS he's not)

He isn't bending MC, he's literally physically capturing him (while MC is trying to run the hell away to stop from being r*ped) and forcibly making him accept this relationship because if he doesn't ML would just lock... more>> him up and r*pe him. (Oh and ML's justification for forcing MC is that if he doesn't, MC will run away...)

Even if MC later "consents" to this, there's been nothing up to now that leads me to believe he's not just been beaten into submission.

If it wasn't the system requiring MC to "hug ML's thigh" to survive, he wouldn't have had anything to do with him.

It's not sweet, it's not cute, it's not romantic. It's creepy and predatory. <<less

This is a fairly good read if you're looking for something similar to TSVSSS. However, please keep in mind that while they have similar vibes, they're objectively two different novels.

The world building and plot is decent, albeit straightforward with no big twists. Despite being a xianxia novel, the cultivation aspect isn't really there and there's not much action. Rather, most of the novel revolves around politics.

Although this novel is listed as complete, I don't think that it really is. The "ending" leaves off on a cliffhanger as do some of... more>> the extras.

Spoiler

For instance, the last chapter of the main story was written in 2016 and the extras were written in 2018, but the author decided to add an additional chapter to main story in 2019.

This story shouldn't be in the yaoi category. Their no any real s*x scenes in it so far and I don't think there will be one in the future. If you're looking for a good plot with at least one good s*x scene, then this isn't for you. The whole thing is censored. I wonder if I am reading a yaoi novel or watching a Chinese censored bl drama. But if you like a bit of comedy then you should try this. I am frustrated and don't think I can... more>> finish the book. I finally gave up on this story. I can't finish it no matter how hard I tried to force myself. <<less

Even though the summary sounded like a replica of Scum Villain, I thought I’d give it a whirl.
As much as I liked Scum Villain, I wasn’t completely sold on how the ML turned into a cry baby and guilt tripped the MC into loving him, and I thought this novel would give the idea a different spin.

However, it seems this novel is worse.

There isn’t much character building and I didn’t really understand why the ML fell in love with the MC.

It’s even worse the other way around. As the... more>> MC identifies as a straight-male, the story doesn’t convince me that he legitimately fell for the ML. It seemed more of a combination of resignation and Stockholm Syndrome. And apart from s*x, or guilt tripping, I don’t see the two characters conversing much.

The flat character depiction isn’t just reserved for the two leads; all the side characters are just tropes personified. The MC’s older brother is a brocon, and that’s pretty much all he is, never mind that he’s the heir to a large respectable family.

And most side characters don’t even get given names, some are just referred to as “soul-nascent cultivator” or “such-and-such disciple.”

With Scum Villain, they actually point out how cannon fodder gets ignored a lot and the MC (and the author) tries it’s best to give the minor characters some life. However, although the MC pre-transmigration complained about the faceless cannon fodder, he does nothing about it post-migration. He doesn’t even know the names of other people in his own Sect (after living there for three years). The book just waves it off as “well the original character was too snobby to remember these character’s names, so I don’t need to bother.”

If the characters were bad enough, the plot is also terrible.

I’ve flipped between the English and Chinese raw and I think it’s not the matter of the translation; the author has pacing issues.

or what was originally sold as a major event, passes by in the blink of an eye, and the emotional ramifications seems pretty negligible.
One of the major character’s family member is put in danger, maybe at the risk of death... then dies without much fanfare.
I should elaborate, it’s not that the writer doesn’t try to make these scenes impactful, they just didn’t succeed.

I’m in the middle of the
Spoiler

MC gets turned into a child

[collapse]
arc and I can’t do it anymore.
If there’s some mystery the character’s are trying to solve, I don’t know what it is and I don’t care.
If there’s a goal the MC is trying to accomplish (getting enough points to leave the transmigration world), it’s not really emphasised on and the MC himself has given up on it.
If I’m supposed to cheer the two characters on in their relationship, I don’t feel enough about them to care, and the raunchy scenes are too censored to mean anything.

The rewards for slogging through this mess is minimal (not completely absent) and I have a long list of other books waiting for me to read.

This book will be thrown into my “did not finish” list. <<less

They jump into the ML falling for MC in the first 6 chapters which was strange cause the book just started so I wasn't expecting it to happen that quickly. The story was fine I guess but when it got the confession scene I was extremely unhappy.

Spoiler

The guy just suddenly falls in love? Always thought of the ML as his son, his confession is basically "Idk if I love you but I guess I do" even though just a while ago he was determined NOT to and wanted to run as far away as possible but suddenly he's totally okay with the ML taking his "Chrysanthemum". AND HE WAS ABOUT TO GET r*peD BY XIE XI JUST A CHAPTER OR TWO AGO!

[collapse]

Other than the rushed love I love the MC's internal screeches. Absolutely hilarious. <<less

Honestly I would rate it 4.5 instead, but because of my overall enjoyment of dirty puns and how much the MC curses, i’m rounding up.

Good points

  • ML doesn’t r*pe or force MC, even though he is still a yandere who is easily jealous and knows how to turn up the spoiled child cuteness to get what he wants from the MC while scaring everyone shitless.
  • MC is beyond funny. Even his methods of trying to make the ML a stallion (ultimate harem master) that end up backfiring are truly funny. He curses like a sailor, can be absolutely malicious, and yet breaks down and completely softens for ml. He is also childishly adorable.
  • story is intriguing, it drops flags and hints that stimulate all sorts of speculation.
  • there is more than one pairing.
  • all the puns with mc’s name. His name is chu yu, yu means fish, there are many comments about “eating fish”.... ?
bad points

  • no explicit “eating fish” scenes, only implying and descriptive (but short) delicious foreplay scenes and post eating scenes.
  • the author tends to rant a lot and it can easily get dry. I tend to lose focus and have to reread sections. Some content is actually crucial though...
in the long run though, it’s really enjoyable! Should definitely try it! There’s also plenty of fluff! Will not be disappointed!

I know it was bad but I couldn't stop reading and even reread it 4x times

FINISHED (total chapters are 80 + 8 extra chapters)

Ok, I totally forgot to put on this list but,..

... more>> Ive read this novel ears ago and even reread it multiple times, might explain why I haven’t forgotten it.

Its,... idk I can’t remember the whole details but I loved it. Not too long, not too short.

But there was a S/A scenes that was actually deleted or censored. That was their first intimate scene.

And after the it became a sh*t show.

I could you not, I barely could follow what tf was happening

Like it was a whole ass roller coaster, to the point idk who was who and which was which

The ML went crazy and did the worst thing he could do to MC and even while chasing he never gave the MC time to take a break from the trauma, just kept on relentlessly chasing (hardcore stalking) and bothering the MC.\

Now that I think about it, I feel really bad for the MC, cuz in the end all he wanted was to just survive,... in the end he still suffered and even the ending,....

The ending was an open ending,...

The MC just gave up,... he knew that the ML wouldn’t stop chasing him even till the ends of the world,.. not only that,.. by that time the ML already became OP,... So he just gave up, ,...

Which led to us having to think is this a HE?

Nah, for me its an open ending for sure <<less

This is one of those stories I'll normally read throughout the day and then suddenly shut my laptop when it gets to an actual romantic part. After that, I'll forget about the novel for a week and come back to read it again, completely baffling myself once I read it since I'd forget the plot. This is a great story that I would recommend to all that come across my review. I love Chu Yu's goofy, little mindset that he needs to keep everything according to the novel's plot.

Chu yu (ML) Xie Xi (MC)

I liked the ML in the chapters before the 10 years, he was firm, strong, and logic but after the 10 years he lost his charm and became shallow and weak like a side character, while the MC was soo fricking, mol*ster and scary before the 10 years never saw him being cute, and after the 10 years he add to his character the psycho, crazy and big mol*ster who have zero consideration and want everything to go as he want

Their relationship was disgusting,... more>> base on assault and r*pe never like it, it started with mol*ster and endup with s*x drive fricking

And the instant turning of "love him" was so boring and killed the joy, there was no progress at all for both side it was like suddenly bang "I love", which even that word was not suited for the shallow feeling between them, if mix it with the unromantic way of behaving of the MC toward him
Spoiler
[collapse]

And the MC and ML both were tr*sh from a human perspective, the ML even if those parents were strangers if you have feeling at least u would have compromised with how your brother reacted on the matter, and u heard the whole story of your family!!!wtf how can u have s*x or have comforted your feelings toward the MC in this kind of situation??!!! Spit on u

On the other hand the MC how can u act happily and try to mol*ster the ML while knowing his circumstances with his sad family fate, and even suggesting s*x in these times, place and circumstances!!!, spit on u too

Both sides were dry of emotions

Felt so disgusting from thier relationship, and furious for wasting time on the this tr*sh novel <<less

honestly it is good if you're reading for a chill time! It's not that heavy although it could unexpectedly give you heartaches not just because of the protagonists but also the people around them like family. Even if everything felt so fast at the start, it just makes me nervous for the next chapters because there could still be something unexpected that would happen and that's one of its good points c:

some needed trigger/content warnings [SPOILERS]: xie xi (ML) is underage in about 30% of the novel— he would do... more>> dubious things and has a possessive behavior, & there is (not with main couple and not detailed) vague r/ape mention in the latter part the story that will be confirmed in one of the extras. <<less

Pros:

  • Interesting Xianxia world (adding to pros because I've seen some xianxia danmei where the extent of xianxia lore is just a justification for deus ex machina or to include 'dao companions')
  • Side characters have a story! Brocon is justified for being a brocon! There's deeper plot!
  • Everything moves so fast and there's so much content. Good for a quick xianxia read.
Cons:

  • Early chapters made me want to die from secondhand emarrassment.
  • Everything moves so fast but there's so much content, I got tired of binging by c33 and had to take a break, but after a week I had trouble getting back into it because I forgot most of the story.
MC can be a pro or a con. I don't think he's a horrible MC, but I can see that people might not... more>> like him. Also a pro or con, TLer kept a lot of CN terms with explanations on meaning. I personally like it since it adds to the xianxia-ness, and also I feel like I'm learning. <<less

Cute and funny stories, there is comedy and a little bit of misunderstanding in this,
I like that at the end everyone gets their own happiness,
except for one elder Fu Lan Xue who chose to punish himself in the loneliness under the valley.

This is my first "transmigrated with system style " novel, so it's quite interesting.... but I prefer without it
When you have free time just try it.... nothing to lose

It's been a while since I last read it, but I was pretty much close to finishing it and decided to drop it.

It is a good story to read and it had great potential, but after the main pair got together the novel started to get... a little boring?

The story starts to lose it's appeal, "there isn't much to see" anymore.

If you get attached to the characters (they are great, and I like the side characters a lot too) then maybe it won't affect you as much,... more>> but for me it was like the story ended before I reached the final chapter - there is no desire to know what is happening anymore. "They are together, sure they will sort everything out! Lets see what else is there to read"

I recommend the novel and I think you will have a good time reading it, the first chapters are really fun!! Just don't expect a masterpiece or something completely outside of the box.

I also just wanted to say I wouldn't say this is Scumbag Villain 2.0 at all. It might share some similarities if you look for it, but this novel has it's own appeal to it in my view point. <<less

Good novel in terms of transmigration. Some parts are kind of cliche and Chu Yu's love for Xie Xi is a bit too sudden. The plot is good and exciting. I see some shadows of other danmei in it sometimes, but overall it is original.

One of the best Shixiong/Shidi bl pair, which is quite common in c-novels, but ppl inevitably only have SVSSS as reference. It does start off like SVSSS, with a similar premise, but this is way more romantic, coherent and fluffy than SVSSS. I did not like SVSSS with it's messy plot, incoherent characters and lack of romance. This one is everything I hoped SVSSS would have been.
