Ohmygod, a female protagonist on an apocalypse. A life skill player.

ML is so silent, he does not speak, just give items to trade and pay the favors he thinks are too much to get even and they never end on trading because the favor is too much on both sides. No quarrels, no misunderstandings, no bickering.

Is this novel written for me? Am I the drama? Am I the target audience?

I'm still not done on reading, but it's been so long since I read a very good completely translated novel (I'm... more>> a sitter at the completed tag) that I feel like right now I have just snorted crack on an empty stomach, high, and not willing to rest.

It is so GOOD I want to give you a ten, but that's not possible, so I give you—five. <<less

If you enjoy farming-type city building novels this is exactly what you're looking for

Binged it in less than a day, entertaining read, could've still read many more chapters

Just don't expect romance. There's nothing beyond minimal attraction written, but it doesn't feel lacking.
Spoiler

I would've loved to see the couple get together, they're easily shipable and fit well. It is implied they get together at least

[collapse]

The ending is

Spoiler

a cliche everything turns out okay back to how it was at the start of the novel, and it's not even properly explained, which normally I find annoying but considering how easygoing the story is I think it works the best compared to anything else the author couldve done. Angst would feel forced and out of place

The story is good and addicting. But the romance is lacking.

The FL is strong, but not some Mary sue. She's smart and quick-witted, (but dense in term of romance. Lol)

The ML also strong, a bit of anti social, but he's there when others need help.

Simple kingdom building story with sweet interactions with cute quiet guy but not really romance, more of a friendship.

i really liked the peaceful (not scheming) atmosphere and mtl-ed to the end. Very wholesome.

Hoarding and resource/colony management. MC is a bit OP in that she is super smart and has a good instinct for only choosing necessary buildings and upgrades for her territory which the story shows is a stark comparison to some of the other territories within her area. I also liked that there was some POV from side characters so it doesn't just show how the MC is living.

MC's personality is almost exactly what I look for in my fav characters. She repays kindness with 10x kindness but if you cross... more>> her bottom line she will not hesitate to return that tenfold as well. While she does not directly intervene to save individual people often she won't bother people who don't bother her and seems to take her responsibility for her territory very seriously. At the end of the day though, she has the philosophy that people should learn how to take care of themselves (within the lines of 'morality' of course, she doesn't support mu*der or theft). Her EQ could probably use some work but her actions were always in line with her personality.

There is very very little romance. I would argue that it is a sub sub plot in this story. It is mostly about how MC lives her life. Though she does make friends and connections with the ML, it isn't really explored as deeply as the overarching goal of the story which was fine for me. Romance was definitely more of an implication than an actual plot point. Limitless Survival Game by the same author has more romance than this story and even that is pretty minimal.

Others may not agree but I felt like the ending was quite a clever way to tie things up though admittedly it was a little abrupt and there are some things (like the romance sub sub plot) that are left open to the reader's imagination.

The translation by Dreams of Jianghu is fantastic but the MTL is absolutely readable for those who are impatient like me. You just need to search for the Chinese title and author as the English title Apocalypse Lord shares a name with some other stories. <<less

It’s the short comfort read. FL is lucky and a life-player style which means instead of fighting monster, she’ll gather all kind of materials and make businesses. The entire world suddenly turn to the survival game. FL was beta player and got reward to be the landlord. Therefore, The story is mainly about city-building and completed quests in the doomsday. She’s cute and kind but not s*upid. The novel is not complicated, there’s no much ups and downs.

Surprisingly the automatic translation from the raw website is readable to the point... more>> of smooth. <<less

This novel is so cute. There is no romance, just a fleeting one, but for some reason, it makes sense.

I enjoyed the story, although it was short and the ending abrupt. Recommended!

It was unexpectedly good although the chapters are short

The MC actually are not at all perfect or op, she also need advices and help from others.

But the thing I don't understand is the ending

Spoiler

MC should be a top player right? But why she didn't remember anything, is there a reason why she didn't? And who are the top 3 player?

I mean don't just leave it like that, right?

At least explain about the system details or origin.

And I'm quite angry because of that too. *Fume* *fume*

But the story are good, so~ ill forgive you this time

Naisu, Short but comfortable to read.

filled with details and time skip didn't feel too forced either

MC also does not need to be the best in every field but still do good for the series

and also, no villain or brain dead c*ckroaches in the series, a big plus

Rating 4.5

Chill hoarder MC who builds the best town during a apocalypse. The ending really sucks though,

Spoiler

Everyone loses their memories of the whole apocalypse! WTF, why even bother then?

[collapse]

Romance: the ML pursues the MC by giving her lots of materials (bc she's a hoarder) but the MC never returns his feelings. Last chapter kinda hints that they'll get together in the future though.

A laid back short story about a squirrel beta player survivor who builds the best base by having common sense and hoarding every item she can lay her hands on.

If you're looking for a not too serious apocalypse story with a female protagonist who isn't blinded by love (girl is denser than a neutron star) then this is the perfect read to pass some time with! Yun Ling is a great protagonist: she's not altruistic but she's fair and does her best to keep her territory running smoothly without compromising... more>> her own situation. <<less

3.5 but rounded up.

A rather interesting spin on the Apocalypse genre by adding systems in for everyone. The ending is rather lack luster but the story is relatively fast and it did make me want to know more about the world (just not the characters). The concept of the story is that a company developed an Apocalypse game requiring the beta testers to survive for 100 days and then would receive a reward upon the official opening of the game, however, the "game" turns out to be the Apocalypse.

The MC... more>> is a gamer who enjoys VR style games. She is one of the few survivors from the Beta and has chosen to have a "Lord Token" which allows her to develop her own base. She is like any typical RPG player and hoards everything while keeping her identity as the base lord a secret. She quickly becomes pretty OP (justifiable if you know anything about most games and "beta testing" rewards) but maintains a level head. She's willing to help people but is not overly soft hearted and can be fairly ruthless to those who threaten her or her base.

The ML is kind of non-existent as the story does not feature any romance at all. In fact, I was surprised that the author even threw in this guy as it really feels like an afterthought. There is zero romantic tension between the two other than the brief pining from the ML. That being said, it was kind of cute how the ML seemed to think that giving the MC gifts was like trying to level up his affection with her and she just gifts things back because she doesn't want to owe him.

Then there are the other characters. For a short novel, the author introduces a lot of characters that are not important. Names are given to every single cannon fodder character only for them to die in the next chapter or so. It feels like a lot of filler adding in these characters but I'm guessing the author was trying to show what it was like for the different groups living in the base. Unfortunately, it's just a lot of the same plot points repeating which makes for a rather tedious read in the later chapters.

The ending is also the most anti-climatic thing I've read in a while. Despite the "game" ramping up to the end, it still doesn't feel like it was building up to anything.

Spoiler

A restart? With no memories? That's worse than "it was all a dream". It didn't even hint if there was a reward for them to go through all the events of the game.

[collapse]

It's definitely fun to read but it does leave a bit desired. <<less

Similar to fort/base building type of games. It's true the pacing is off. A bit slow in the beginning but speed runs at the end. However I guess its best for us that it doesnt drag on.

It isn't a hidden gem but it is fun to read. Tone is not so serious even though random deaths are shown every few chapters.

Spoiler

I don't really like 'reset' endings and memory reset

An excellent apocalyptic game novel without an annoying brain-dead female lead who spoils all her advantages with s*upid moves and thousands of chapters of face-slapping!

Among the shortcoming for me, there is only one: the overall background and characters are a bit mechanical. But it can be self-explained if the world's gamification affected humans' minds allowing them to adapt to the environment, lowering their grief, greying memories and enhancing their fighting spirit.

CONTAIN SPOILERS!!!
Spoiler

overall, it was good. But it’s not something that I would re-read again. It has interesting mechanics and pretty basic in the gamified setting. Moderate paced too when read in one seating but it does get kind of repetitive. Fortunately, the author did not drag it for too long and ended it neatly.

speaking of the ending, it is a bit underwhelming. Kinda dislike the wiped memory trope. It’s akin to “it’s just a dream” trope and kinda cheapen the adventures/experiences since it reset everything.

the lack of romance is just fine for me. While it can be seen vaguely that ML, Lu Chuan is interested in FL, Yun Ling, he wasn’t the annoying in your face type.

the epilogue alluded that ML keep his memory but it was so short to makes anything out of it.

and since I've read Natural Disaster Apocalypse prior to this, I don’t think the system is as evil/bad as the translator & commenters are making out to be. This story is kinda lighthearted comparatively.

I enjoyed reading it, but I have to say I found the ending to be disappointing. Not to the extent that I regret reading the story, but it was an incredibly lazy ending to a good, interesting story. As for the characters, they were a little disappointing as well - there were points of view other than the MC, but they didn't matter very much.

Spoiler

The characters went through so much during the course of the story, and then there was no payoff at the end - the girl and boyfriend couple were so dedicated to one-another that I was really frustrated that I didn't get to see how they ended up! Or the grandma/granddaughter duo, either.

pretty good "kingdom building" novel

Spoiler

I'm not much a fan of the whole reset the world and everyones memories when they win the game, kinda makes everything that happened somehow pointless imo, basically just short of the "in the end it turns out everything was just a dream"-trope, so -1 star from me for that ending

[collapse]

otherwise a good read if you like to watch a competent female MC build a city in a mix between fantasy-rpg/apocalypse world.
