A very very poor man's Faust, or maybe poor woman's, or a very short knockoff of "The Revenge of the Duke's Daughter Theresia". If you want to read a deal with the devil or a revenge facilitated by a devil. Either of the above would be good.

The story fails in a few ways. First it's a knockoff as I imply above. Revenge of the duke's daughter, handles this theme much better and much more enjoyably. Second it's just dull and predictable. By the time the reader is a few paragraphs... more>> in, everything that's going to happen is apparent. Third I couldn't bring myself to care about the MC. Maybe it was because she was too passive, or too s*upid but I found myself thinking

Yeah she really wouldn't work out as an aristocratic wife, maybe buy her a small business in a different country and let her marry well.

. Lastly the deal was predictable.

Bottom Line: It's a quick read. A good translation that's easy to read and is better than a cereal box. <<less

Honestly, not a bad read. The premise was interesting and the execution was not bad, though there were a couple of points that felt like bumps on the road.

Would've been nice to have another chapter after the end, showing whether the protag ended up finding happiness. Personally, I think she did, since the human mind is a formidable and robust thing that recovers from trauma over time. Even if she wanted and got the deaths of the two antagonists, there is no reason for her to be unable to go back to a more stable and positive state of mind after that.
