Su Qin crosses into a world where martial artists run rampant, where Buddhist monks from the Yuan Dynasty dominate the world. Nine Yang’s successor’s fist conquered the mountains and rivers, and Xiao Li’s Flying Knife smashed through the void.

Because Su Qin had no martial arts qualifications, he could only become a sweeping monk in the Shaolin Temple. At this time, the ‘Sign-In System’ was activated.

Sign-in in front of Buddha’s Golden Body, gets [Tathagata’s Divine Palm].

Sign-in in front of the Arhat Hall, gets [Indestructible Vajra Divine Art].

Sign in at the back mountain of Shaolin Temple, gets [Demon and Buddha Golden Body].

The Shaolin Temple was riddled with treasures, and you can sign in everywhere.

Su Qin decided that he would never leave the mountain without signing in to everything in the Shaolin Temple. And so, he signed-in in the Shaolin Temple for twenty whole years!

Twenty years later, the Shaolin Temple got mixed in the battle between the Righteous and Evil.

The Demons were fierce and powerful, they blatantly invaded the Shaolin Temple and were pushing forth with great force, but that is until they met Su Qin who was sweeping the floor…

Yep, this is pretty good. The story is about a guy who got a system that gives him items and instant cultivation techniques every day depends on the location. Since items and skills were pulled out of thin air, it has no impact on anybody else. Most of the time, the story focuses on his step by step improvement. The MC is in the OP category, so his cultivation speed is at least 100 times faster than normal but no one will ever know his rank. His personality is quiet,... more>> not arrogant or showing off his power. He rarely interacts with anyone and just minding his own sweeping business all day long. His life goal is to become Lv.99 before exiting the starting village.

There is rarely any conflict in the story. Combats are mild and often end in one fell swoop which will be unsuitable for any reader who looking for action or climatic scene. The plot just starts kicking in the later chapter as everyone is coming back to the mainland. The MC will likely be able to slap some more people soon but keep in mind that the strong point of this story isn't about combat but world-building. What I like the most is that the author keeps pacing in check with logical time skips. Not too fast nor slow and quite believable.

Edit: I'm disappointed to say that the story starts going mainstream after chapter 200. MC went on to break into other people's homes and kill the homeowner for no obvious reason but to satisfy his craving for sign-in. He also obtains supporters to be in awe of his every move which is totally unneeded in this novel.

MC is unbearably arrogant, so much that I'm going to drop it. Goodbye. <<less

It is an enjoyable read about our main characters cultivation experience.

Its basically him sining in and getting stronger day by day. Background events which happen serve to show his power and are good to read as well.

I would recommend this as a leisurely read when you just want something light, which isn't a romance drama and u aren't looking for some detailed action wuxia novel (but like that sort of setting)

Pro

  • MC is really low key, so not the usual "I'm low key" contradicted a few chapters after.
  • He's OP but not a psycho on a killing spree.
  • No bullying of MC for no reason.
Con

  • Lonely as hell, no romance, no friendship, MC is basically alone and doesn't try to mingle with others.

Sadly, this novel got dropped. I read this novel a while ago, so I don't remember much of the stuff, but I think this novel was probably the novel that started the rise of sign-in novels. This novel just did it better, if you were to compare it to other sign in novels. Although, this novel isn't top tier, I'd say it is if you compare it to other sign-in novels. I haven't come across any other sign-in novels that are as good as this one. Most of the sign-in... more>> novels have absolutely so plot, but Sign-in Buddha's Palm does. It's hinted slightly in the beginning, but the author doesn't go too much into it because the MC isn't at that power level yet. The plot is that the demon realm tried to invade the human realm, but failed to do so because the human powerhouses sacrificed themselves to stop the invasion. Thousands of years pass, and we get the MC sweeping the floors of a holy Buddha sect. The MC becomes strong and later finds out that the demons are preparing to invade the human realm again. And that's most of the plot so far. Overall, this novel isn't the best out there, but it sure was entertaining. <<less

Typical fast-food novel, you eat it quickly and in huge quantities, it as bland taste but is popular among the mass; ''Sign-in Buddha’s Palm'' is a novel that is not a masterpiece nor a very good one but sastify the basic desire of seeing the MC being the OP low-key that he is by making him annihilate all the strong ones that he encounter without being noticed by his entourages.

That simple? Yes but this novel is f*ckING DROPPED SSSSSHHHHHHIIIIIIIIITTT!!!!!!!!!!!!! (So 2/5 star because I wasted an entire day for it)... more>> <<less

Spoiler

Even after reading tons of cultivation novels I haven't seen another protagonist starting out as a monk - was a novelty to me.

[collapse]

MC's position in his faction was quite humble and low key. He also keept it that way at the start. But those power up benefits quickly became too setting defying and author decided to change the setting he already established with protagonist leaving his faction as "no more benefits could be make there". But worst part is that his experience didn't influence him at all. He instanty became generic martial arts MC with teenager mindset you can find in every generic martial arts novel.

Spoiler

If MC spent most of his life as sweeping monk (and it wasn't just a year or two) how can he just leave it all behind and start killing, flirting with girls and acting like a big kid. Did protagonist keep to the ideas of that monk monastery? Did he change it for the better? Where is that karma you ask me? Nowhere - he just changed his path from somewhat interesting humble monk who lived most of his life in temple to young&h**ny generic protag.

[collapse]

That change of setting was a super letdown for me. Even MTL-ed it to some point in hope there is something more. Sadly he gets even more frustrating. Not worth spending anymore time on that. If you are interested then look on first few chapters and then to newest ones. You will only get dissapointed for ruined setting. <<less

It isn't a masterpiece, but ain't the most offensive thing I've read also...

As pointed out by others, it is a story about "nothing". Su Quin (our MC) just have power bestowed upon him ad infinitum.

So, let's review the good, the bad, and the ugly.

The Good:

    • The pacing isn't bad. Every chapter "something" happens. It may not be exciting, but there is constant change.
    • MC isn't an homicidal maniac. He will kill if he has to, only when directly confronted.
The Bad:

    • There is no drama. No romance. Almost no significant interaction with any member of the supporting cast. (The following sentence is disturbingly common: "They talked some more and than X left").
    • MC have no plans for the future beyond "getting stronger" or "being invincible". Why? Because he knows that no one can touch him due to his power.
    • Besides having hundreds - thousands even - of divine arts, only a few are even mentioned in the novel.
The Ugly:

    • Repetition: MC "thinks" about the power of his arts many, many times... And the power levels are very well established. Because they're repeated ad nauseum.
    • Inconsistency: One moment, information takes years to reach from one region to another. Some time later, information "runs the world like wildfire" almost instantly (Usually when MC shows off his powers). [Edit: In one instance, the world - China - gets wind of his deeds within less than a day!]
    • Useless banter about MC strength. (Examples: "If X knew that MC is capable of Y, their eyes would fall off their sockets", "If X knew that MC eats treasured pills like jelly beans, their eyes would be red with envy").

Thought it would be a cultivation novel centered around Buddhism but I was wrong, ignoring that at this chapter (.20) we don't even know how the MC looks like or how most of the fighting scenes are like, just the fact that the novel contradicts itself is enough for me to dropp it and give it such a poor review, as an example; most novels with OP mc's are quite fast wich is reasonable, but what is not is that in the first 20 chapters the MC is almost at... more>> the "final level" in his cultivation world (the " " are because I don't know if there will be more levels later on) wich, if there aren't more levels it would render the other chapters as something weird.

Also he gets thousands of pills from his system when according to the novel he gets 1 pill per sing in but he has thousands in 5 years wich isn't mathematically possible because even if he just signs in to get pills (wich he doesn't) he would get like 1.825, so it's impossible to get thousands of pills. My complaint here is that this is one of the reasons because the MC is so OP but is neither well explained nor we'll written. <<less

4.5 star.

Its good, MC doesn't care about anything else other than cultivating and getting stronger.

Beauties, wealth, fame doesn't matter to him.

... more>> He is overly caution and doesn't try to breakthough if he isn't 100% sure or if his condition isn't on its peak. All MC enemies all dies in 1 or 2 hits. Its not because the enemy is weak but because MC is too OP and keeps on getting OP.

For example. Creating a mini domain usually takes 100-200 years but MC only took 2 years. So thats why MC is so strong because his growth is god-like.

Also MC is low-key and wouldn't want his existence (strength) be known unless MC is sure that no one can beat him. <<less

Should you read this? Yes. Their isn't a harem of women after the MC. Their isn't cultivators that attack you just for looking at them. The main character isn't dumbass hero that jumps into conflict on a whim. He picks his battles and dominates his enemies. This is slice of life, and great to read. Especially when you read so many power creeps and heavy battle focus cultivating novels, where everyone that is born, hates and wants to the kill the MC. This is not for everyone, but I do... more>> enjoy it <<less

I had high hopes for this at the beginning though all the warning signs were there. Any modesty/humility the MC has is basically gone by the end of the Temple Arc.

Spoiler

MC spends the entire 1st Arc solving problems secretly. Until the main arc villain appears, then decides to reveal himself. Que reactions of "he's so awesome" from everyone else.

2nd Arc basically repeats the above, except he's in a city this time. He solves problems in secret and then reveals himself again. Que more reactions of "he's so awesome" from everyone else.

In one of the later arcs, everyone knows the MC is awesome and his country wants to conquer the other surrounding countries and the MC basically tells all of them "You can surrender or die."

[collapse]

Later it just becomes a standard Xianxia with a standard Xianxia protagonist.

Spoiler

Basically the following just repeats endlessly.

Villian: Nobody in this backwater temple/country/world can stop us.

MC reveals himself

Villain: Impossible! How could somebody in this backwater place be so powerful.

Everybody else: The MC is so awesome.

[collapse]

The following part is just something that annoyed me:

The MC finds a technique.

MC: This technique is amazing, it's definitely within the Top 10/100 techniques I've found. Proceeds to use that technique over and over.

Like really? You expect me to believe that the MC knows at least 9/99 other techniques that are just as good, and they're just not using them? <<less

In the end, this novel can be boiled down to one sentence. The MC steamrolls everyone while putting in no effort.

There are no epic fights, no grand speeches, no struggles for growth or great adventures. There is no 'risk' at all. If an ambitious hidden master decides to poke his head out... every reader knows a smackdown is coming in the next chapter or two. The power disparity between the MC and the other 'hidden powers' is so great that it comedic, and while not great, the novel has a... more>> decent-ish world development.

i'd say it's perfect for some light, stress-free reading. Certainly not smth to take seriously, but the simplicity and punctual chapter-every-day upload rate of this novel is sublime. <<less

The best way I can describe reading this is like playing a very basic match-3 game, resource builder game, or something similar. Is it complex? No. Do you feel like you gain anything? No. Are there better things to do? Yes.
But will you keep reading/levelling up anyway? Yes.

The comments that say nothing much happens are correct. He does care about the health and protection of his family, but beyond that it's "get this treasure this is what it does next" but it hooked me because there are levels to... more>> how high he can go. The same way a game can convince you to keep playing until you reach the highest level, so this novel convinced me to keep reading until he reaches the highest level and has his big reveal. But that's not the same as being a great story (or game).

I didn't mean to give it 3 stars. That was an accident. I'm not sure I what to give it for above reasons. <<less

Actually I was uncertain wether to start reading it or not, because of the couple of bad reviews. But as I started reading, the span of two days just passed like that and I happened to finish reading all of the avaliable chapters.

This novel is very refresh and easy to read and even though not many actions happening that happened to be a good thing, because the author doesn't beat around the bush, which is how I managed to read all of it nonstop.

I recommend reading this novel. The only... more>> thing I didn't like is that there were so few chapters... <<less

A surprisingly enjoyable read. As others have said, there's not much more to it than an interesting slice of life with a MC who is content to enjoy their cheat, avoiding the limelight and the foolish young masters of other novels. Harem? Who needs 'em, I'll just keep getting stronger until nothing can threaten me.

It's just good enough to pass the time.

The whole thing so far have been him trying to get stronger and increasing his life span.

It's kinda sad cause he just hole himself up most of the time in different places to advance his martial art and then sign in daily.

... more>> The sticking points:

  • Author have so far have done nothing about his past life. What's the point mentioning it in a chapter or two that he was reincarnated from modern life? There was no use for this as of yet 128 chapters in.
  • No romance
  • There is no explanation or exploration about the sign in ability. He basically just check in to certain area and get freebies. This freebies are base on his cultivation levels.
If you can check your brain out and it's decent enough to pass the time. <<less

Like alot of people say its really just like a montage. The author skips alot. Not just like a little but literally dozens of years in 5 chapters. In a span of 80 chapters the MC went from 10 years old to 40. Along with that nothing really happens. Its just the MC signing in and cultivating, which I like though because it shows the MC isnt dumb enough to go jump into danger without proper strength.

This is a very mediocre series.

The main character gets incredibly OP incredibly quickly. There is absolutely no suspense in the story because of just how OP the MC is. He is a loner by choice so there is almost no focus on any side characters. While I like the fact that he is low-key, all he does is cultivate everyday which makes for a pretty boring story.

With his attitude and the lack of development of side characters, the whole thing is like the first couple chapters of One-Punch Man on... more>> repeat, except without the comedy and action.

This seems like some sort of fan fiction because it includes many skills and characters (eg Nine Yang True Scripture? And Zhang Sanfeng) from other wuxia novels. Almost all the skills the MC acquires are used once in the same chapter and then never mentioned again in the story. Characters from other novels are characterized quite differently from the original work.

I dislike how his cultivation is basically popping pills. I also dislike how this seems to be one of those stories with huge power creep.
Spoiler

At first the story states that there are 9 grades of martial artists and that grade 1 are the best, with numbers in the single digits. Later on we learn that there's a legendary or "arhat buddhahood" realm above that and grade 1 grandmasters are popping out left and right. Then we learn that there are 9 "layers" in the legendary/arhat realm and there are many legends that have traveled to another continent. Who knows what'll happen later?

[collapse]

While I'm not a Buddhist monk nor have I ever been to Shaolin Temple, I really dislike the portrayal of the Shaolin and its monks in the story. Due to the lack of focus on side characters, you really don't see much of the monks except in emergencies so I can understand why none of them seem "zen" but everything points to the Shaolin Temple in this series as 100% a martial sect. There are absolutely no scenes of the monks doing anything except training their martial arts. The one exception is a few chapters where there was a challenge from another temple.

Spoiler

The challenge led to a few rounds of debate "on buddha" which are not described except to note who won or lost. The author even acknowledged that the very challenge itself didn't conform to the precepts of Buddhism.

The MC basically uses the system to become that mysterious old caretaker who nobody pays attention to, but who is so powerful that he can crush anyone -- even super experts -- who show up with bad intentions. It's fun watching him stomp people and I LOVE the astronomic pace of his growth.

If I had one criticism, though, it would be that (like gellealie said) the MC is simply too indifferent to the people around him. He's not completely heartless, but his thoughts have made it clear that he isn't... more>> helping most people because he gives a damn but because their fate directly affects his interests. There ARE people he cares about, but not many. I can't say I'm a fan of MCs who are so... apathetic. Especially when you yourself start to care about certain side characters the MC doesn't care about.

Spoiler

For example, when the old Court Head died. I was hoping the MC would find a way to help him extend his lifespan or at least comfort him. The old Court Head valued the MC's work and kept trying to help him by giving him a higher position. Unfortunately the MC's reaction to his death was basically, "Too bad so sad." He didn't even tell anyone and let the sect find his corpse. Damn, son.

[collapse]

Welp, it's good either way. I look forward to seeing where this goes as the MC continues to get stronger. <<less

It's just so generic I guess. You can pretty much predict what he is going to do and he lacks personality. He constantly avoids doing anything and you can tell the author puts less and less thought into the things he acquires as the novel progresses. It's good to wait a little time on but there is nothing great about it
