Su Qin crosses into a world where martial artists run rampant, where Buddhist monks from the Yuan Dynasty dominate the world. Nine Yang’s successor’s fist conquered the mountains and rivers, and Xiao Li’s Flying Knife smashed through the void.

Because Su Qin had no martial arts qualifications, he could only become a sweeping monk in the Shaolin Temple. At this time, the ‘Sign-In System’ was activated.

Sign-in in front of Buddha’s Golden Body, gets [Tathagata’s Divine Palm].

Sign-in in front of the Arhat Hall, gets [Indestructible Vajra Divine Art].

Sign in at the back mountain of Shaolin Temple, gets [Demon and Buddha Golden Body].

The Shaolin Temple was riddled with treasures, and you can sign in everywhere.

Su Qin decided that he would never leave the mountain without signing in to everything in the Shaolin Temple. And so, he signed-in in the Shaolin Temple for twenty whole years!

Twenty years later, the Shaolin Temple got mixed in the battle between the Righteous and Evil.

The Demons were fierce and powerful, they blatantly invaded the Shaolin Temple and were pushing forth with great force, but that is until they met Su Qin who was sweeping the floor…

This is one of the few system novels done right. I like that the protagonist does not have heavy desires other than to seek immortality. It is refreshing to see that Su Qin can gain strength without having to chase after treasures. In many Xin Xia/Xuanhuan novels, the method for the main character to increase strength revolves around materialism.

"Oh I obtained this exquisite 9 Yin Yang cocaine that I found in some ancient Cave dug by the great immortal Pablo Escobar after killing all the people in this cave... it... more>> is all mine haha..." this novel has none of that. The quote in the previous sentence mentions chasing after treasures, in this novel Su Qin gets the treasure in his hand. You might say that this is a forced way of writing, but I think that this is not the case... especially in this context.

Without the golden finger (the system) Su would have to chase after treasures in order to increase his strength, but this would deviate from Buddhist ideologies. Of course if one is a true Buddhist they wouldn't even chase after immortality, this is a shortcoming in this novel that I would not critique. <<less

Hard to recommend this one. Super boring tale of an extreme loner who just gets stronger and barely does anything. I keep reading it expecting something to happen but barely anything does.

Guy transmigrates into young master body, has no aptitude and gets sent to Buddhist school <story starts here>. His golden finger gives him free stuff like pills and secret arts and he just sort of becomes a turbo loner and levels up with them. That's pretty much it. He thinks everyone is below him even though he only has... more>> power due to his cheat, never earning a single lick of power himself. Everything is just magically gifted to him without effort.

    • He cultivates his Buddhist arts, gets strong and... just gets stronger... and then even stronger ad infinitum
    • There's no romance, adventure, drama, life-or-death situations or even any real challenges at all.
    • There's almost zero action, mystery, excitement, or politics.
    • He barely recognizes his relatives exist and makes only one single friend, and even then it's more like a familiar acquaintance.
    • He barely even does anything to help anyone and considers it bothersome beyond slapping the occasional bad guy to death every 30 chapters.
    • He has a mountain of skills and pills but barely bothers to even help anyone else. Everything is just handed to him on a silver platter or download directed into his brain.
If you want to read the tale of a guy with a golden finger who leisurely gets stronger while dismissing the world, then this is for you. If you want literally anything else than this is not for you. <<less

This is pretty much a mediocre slice of life novel. I'm not saying that slice of life is bad, because I do enjoy taking a break from action heavy novels/anime and enjoy some relaxing content, but this is just poorly made/written.

Some might think its cool to finally see an isekai MC stay hidden until he is the strongest but there has to be something else in the novel to make it enjoyable/relaxing to read.

It's like if Naruto stayed hidden in the Leaf Village until he was hokage, didn't interact with... more>> Sasuke or Sakura or anybody at all, instantly learned the rasengan/shadow clone jutsu and mastered Kuramas abilities in one chapter thanks to a system and without any difficulty on his part.

In 40 chapters MC becomes top 3 strongest in the world and in 60 chapters MC is the strongest in the world (according to the current world building which could change). This was all done without any no conflict, no adventures, no friends, no romance, no challenges in learning techniques, nothing interesting happens.

I honestly wouldn't have minded him staying hidden if he had any meaningful interactions, talked with people/made friends, had some difficulties learning techniques or showed MC struggle with literally anything.

Even in slice of life animes, things happen that progress the story like a student studying for exam, interacting with classmates, joining a club/sports, or some fluffy romance.

In 60 chapters here, 20 years has passed since the MC joined the Shaolin temple and I had not read him having a conversating with someone lasting longer than 1-2 paragraphs. He has not made a SINGLE friend and simply sweeps the floor or 'signs in' at different places and instantly learns the strongest techniques and free OP pills to help him level up without any challenges.

Also if you came looking for a fun novel with Buddhist overtones and discussion, this does not have that. When the other Buddhist temple came over for a debate, I was excited for some good philosophical arguments or MC meeting someone interesting. What happened was the debate started, a time skip occurred and the debate ended with MC's temple losing. MC goes out disguised, asks for another debate, gets asked 'what is Buddha', answers with 'I am Buddha' while showing off his powers and wins the debate and other side leaves. That's all. The dialogue in general is pretty bad.

If you want a novel that has a better Buddhist debate/philosophical arguments: Tales of Herding Gods has a good arc on that, Nightfall by Mao Ni as well.

Overall, pretty disappointed by the novel so far, however, MC is super strong now so maybe the novel will shift and focus on side characters and world building like One-Punch Man does, but I heavily doubt that. <<less

A story about nothing.

Also this is tagged comedy but I don't even see any comedic undertones. He just wants to get strong and does that.

If you like watching montage videos of people working out, this has a similar vibe.

I found this story to be very relaxing, odd when you consider that it's a xuanhuan story. The MC is very level-headed and the cultivation system so far is easy to understand.

for once the MC is not constantly belittled or abused because he's just a sweeping monk, at most the disciples barely notice him at all before the reveal. There's no continual parade of arrogant young masters, no constant face slapping, and the MC doesn't run around showing off and forcing others to wallow in his awesomeness. He just cultivates... more>> and uses his system and most of the time he doesn't bother anyone and they don't bother him. Yes there's more action and bloodshed when he goes out into the world, but all in all he just wants to be left alone to cultivate and check in every day.

I don't know if the rest of the novel will maintain the same quality but I liked the first 200 chapters. Makes a nice change from the typical. And while I wasn't as happy with the court intrigue/ palace stuff after he leaves the sect, the rest is interesting enough. so far it's one of the better written xuanhuan that I've read lately. Rate the first 100 or so chapters a 4.5 and the out in the world chapters a 4, subject to change once more chapters are completed. <<less

Lazy writing pretty much sums this up. While you might be able to get away with saying this is a parody of cultivation and system novels, it doesn't make up for the miles of exposition on random power ups and "well known" people/abilities/items that are constantly being introduced to the story. Almost nothing is set up for more than a few chapters before being rushed to an ending of some sort.

If you like slice-of-life style novels, this does scratch that itch as long as you ignore the lazy exposition.

Can't... more>> even say if you like slice-of-life stuff this is for you anymore xD After a while the novel tries to take itself more seriously as a cultivation novel and just falls into all of the old trappings minus the struggling MC. All the same problems it faced when it was more of a parody except now you can tell it's trying to be serious about it. <<less

Now, give this Mango a chance to explain this seemingly excessive score and Mango approved rating.

For starters, this series fits a very niche category of Cultivation novels In this, the Dao comprehension is not the main focus. Neither is the action exceptionally great in either quantity or quality. The protagonist has no real driving force for cultivating, and if you remove the special ability, has no real talent. Well then, why is this series Mango approved?

Simple. This series is probably one of the few cultivation series which truly captures the... more>> sense of cultivation. Every day that a new update is available, it almost feels like I myself am cultivating. This is obviously because of the gamification of the entire cultivation process into some sort of a lottery, thought the odds are actually very friendly. This series is a pure Slice of Life series. Just a light read. But if that is so, does it deserve to be Mango approved?

This series is a beautiful juxtaposition of the different ideologies of cultivation. One thought process is that a cultivator should be powerful enough to rule fortune and strive to control the heavens. Another idea is that a cultivator is simply trying to strengthen themselves by understanding how heaven works, and simply keep getting stronger in a reactionary manner. Except, our MC has no reaction, because he never actually acts! So, what exactly is the cultivation idea of this series? Well, quite simply put, this series is so bland that it is open to interpretation!

Yet, just because of this, it almost feels like it is your own journey of cultivation. The characters around the MC act in the perfect way as NPCs when you are showing off your power. You are simply looking for the game objectives and not bothering with the NPCs. I love this unique take on the genre of Cultivation, and the way this series manages to execute the same.

The sign-ins? Well, they are similar to the time-based rewards in mobile games. Nothing more than that. This series is, in my opinion, a wonderful representation of a gamified cultivation path with no frills attached. A leisurely ride for just a couple of minutes everyday.

This series is Mango approved. <<less

Have you ever wondered would would happen if the MC just actually stayed put for once and strengthened himself to the point invincibility before exploring the world? And no, I don't mean that sissy-ass "oh MC is training for 1000 years, yeah nothing interesting happens during this time period lol this is part of the premise just believe the author." I mean actually seeing the MC stay put and be cautious, accumulating strength while the rest of the world is moving without him. That's right, Sign-In Buddha's Palm is a... more>> novel where the MC has the genius idea of actually staying safe and accumulate strength in peace instead of flaunting his plot armor to the rest of the world. It is honestly quite a satisfying read. If you were to ask me what is the best part of xianxia, to me it's the high you get when the MC gets a power up. This novel executes that part very well and without having to go through the hassle of having to sit through all the s*upid tropes that haunt this genre. If you've read too much xianxia for your own good and can't enjoy all the generic tr*sh anymore but still like the genre anyway, I do recommend trying this novel out as it might offer you just what you need. <<less

basic popcorn tier novel to binge when you're THAT bored. It's like eating chips you found tucked in the far back corner of the drawer that you think tastes like sh*t but you can't stop eating them because you want to eat something to pass the time.

MC is OP and a hermit. He gives no shits except for logging in, cultivating, and increasing his power level. It's good enough compared to the absolute tr*sh that are generic xianxia but it's still average as hell. Nothing stands out at all. There's... more>> no plot, no interesting side characters, no fights. It's just a guy autistically grinding his free gacha rolls every day for freebies and helping out if he feels like it. <<less

Started out promising but ends up with no substance at all. I liked it at first, it feels like the author wanted to skip through hundreds of chapters of pointless powerups to get to the main story. However that's not the case. The first dozens or so chapters is just the MC powering up and I thought after that the story's gonna do some world building, some character building, awesome fights, etc... But none of that happened. It's just the MC powering up in the most boring way possible. Everything... more>> else felt like an after thought. Side characters are all token characters, just there to fill the story. Fights end in like 2 chapters because the MC is always far more powerful than his opponents. The more I read the story the more it became clear that the author is running out of ideas and is just trying to finish the story as quick as possible. So save yourself the trouble, time and energy and not read this crap. <<less

  • Roman is good but for me he is too indifferent to people close to him (how many pills and martial arts he has acquired and leaves everything to himself, although they will no longer bring any benefit to esu (why does he become invincible at all? Just like that. But I like how patiently he improves his strength in the initial zone, and not how some heroes learned that on another continent a bunch of strong immediately run headlong ️ Most of all in this novel I liked his patience
  • This is a decent novel, though it has very limited action. The main character is heavily OP and mostly is concerned with his own cultivation. The world around him as well as the other characters notably drive the plot, an the MC is very reactive most of the time. There is no arrogant young masters or pointless faceslapping, which is good. There are few chapters, but so far this is a fairly enjoyable but not top tier novel.
  • Spoiler

Su Qin is pretty much a calm and patience guy. He works hard for 40 years to be the strongest in his continent. YES A CONTINENT

A terrible story that idolizes being selfish, lazy and heartless towards others to profit yourself. The MC is said to understand just how powerful they are with his 'invincible body' and people like himself number less than 5 but somehow he claims to be weak while ignoring everything until it slaps HIM in the face.

Family dead? Oh well. People being sacrificed? Oh well. Destroyed the faith of ACTUAL monks (because he claims he isn't a monk, just a sweeper) ? Oh well.

This goes beyond just laziness and apathy as after... more>> a short time the MC learns his actions caused others (a whole other temple) to die because he didn't want to be bothered. Even if you eliminate the concepts of buddhism and have only martial arts, the MC is lawless or evil due to his choice of inaction. You can read it if you have nothing else, but almost anything would be better. <<less

Terrible.

Like others said it’s a montage. However the worst part is the authors carelessness. (Kinda spoiler) He has over a thousand body refining pills for his breakthrough to lvl3 but only used 6 months to prepare it...? Ok, maybe he can get multiple pills each sign in or he didn’t use any and really accumulated them over three years during the five years he was there...

Then what about his “secret” cultivation. He had no concealing skills that we know of until later. So how did he hide his skills early... more>> on? Especially when at higher cultivation levels he demonstrates how his perception is seemingly limitless. Is the author saying everyone else is blind and only the MC is supreme?

Hmm well maybe it get better later on? Nope. Let me tell you on chapter 324... jk I dropped this.. <<less

- Do I recommend this novel?

Only if you like a Xianxia slice of life where you wouldn't see the MC falls for the usual cliches of the genre (no young master, no love interest, no fight for treasure, no tribulation....) is basically cultivate himself (alone) to immortality without need to leave his montain.

- Why 3 stars?

... more>> Well, I like an OP MC like the next guy and I also do enjoy the fact that they leave some cultivation behind. As well as some laid-back story of cultivation once in a while.

However, the author can't fill it with anything interesting to fill the void left when you take the usual routine of the genre. If the MC doesn't fight for treasure, tempering himself, etc... What does he do?

Well in this novel the MC, cultivates and maybe help a little:

  • Enemies aren't a challenge because they are all way below his current (at the time) power lvl and are one shot.
  • Politic, Betrayal, Romance and Friendship are out of the window as he barely interacts with anyone.
  • There is no interesting side/supporting character because he is basically a super loner, cultivation madman.
  • All his action outside cultivating is to protect the place he is cultivating or to help acquaintance. Or if is his family gives them out-of-screen cultivation pointers.
  • Is only objective is to find a new place with more "dao acumlation" so he can get more resources from the system to cultivate further.
  • His 1 problem, that was to get into the forbidden areas, solution was to cultivate for another 10 years so he could ignore the defenders.
  • All resources and cultivation insights are given to him by the system, so don't expect much on "talk about the DAO or Buddism"
  • No comedy or animal companion.
While the author had a few opportunities in turning this into a more conventional story, so to break the monotony, he decided against and prefers to instead spend time with either the popcorn crowd that just comment how he is going to lose or later how strong he is or the arguable more interesting characters (villains) that are an in a collision course with the MC, because they seen to have some life on them and area complete detached from everything. Still very bare bones, is in nothing compared with the work of OVERLORD or ONE PUNCHMAN. <<less

Such an amazing novel! This is a story about MC journey to become someone invincible. He aims to be more powerful than everyone and stands at the top.

For someone who is ambitious as MC, he's surprisingly passive and patient. He also never do random things that doesn't benefit him at all, mostly he acts when someone are attacking him or people he care about.

We see his journey from a mere sweeping monk to someone who is revered and bring prosperity to people around him.

I'd say if MC has no one... more>> around him I'll probably drop this fast, but he does have people he care, even when they're only in the background it still give us a glimpse of MC heart.

I like reading this because MC is truly OP but it's also because he knows his limit, he's patient in building up his strength and that's why he got that much power, the story is simple and easy to read, not heavy at all.

If you want a light read I heavily recommend this, especially if you like cultivation, martial arts and such.

So far no romance and I truly hope it'll stays like that until the end, I can't wait until MC will reach more powerful stage because at this point his journey to become truly invincible is still long. <<less

Woah, all the other reviews seem to be way ahead in the raws. But I'm gonna write my review based on what I've read so far. This is basically a CN isekai with an OP protagonist.

This novel would be good when you've run out of things to read. Basically an isekai tr*sh.

Spoiler

Don't really have to summarise anything for this novel, the synopsis is self-explanatory. Or you can read the other reviews, they do a pretty good job explaining what's going on. Ok, onto my review.

The plot is... there's no plot in the first place.

The pacing of the story is pretty good, keeps me interested.

The combat itself is pretty bland since the MC would always obliterate his enemies.

There's not much world-building happening, the novel does give a rough general outline of what the world is like.

Don't expect much from this novel, no romance or mystery of the sort here.

But if you're like me, an isekai tr*sh enthusiast, then this is perfect for you as well!

Cultivation novels with a focus on Buddhism are very difficult to find, especially in english, so I was very happy when I found this novel, however it has progressively gone away from buddhism, such that now the MC is not even related to it, unless he decides on a whim to call himself a buddhist cultivator. The Buddha's Palm on the title continues to be his strongest weapon, however he never uses it, unless facing other buddhist cultivators, he does not ever even use any buddhist art.

The moment MC leaves... more>> Shaolin temple the story just goes downhill for me, he's just a regular overpowered cultivator now, not a buddhist cultivator, the only buddhist thing he has is his body, but even that is only half buddhist, since he uses other arts to supplement it and make it a new kind of body art.

I recommend it as a light read, but don't expect a true buddhist cultivation experience if you plan to read more than 100 chapters. <<less

Boring, there are countless novels that uses the setting of 'passive cultivation' or 'low key MC'

but this is written blandly as there is no interaction with anyone or any stuffs going on, even if there isn't supposed to be anything going on, it could have been written better, but it didn't

Sign In: Becoming A Great Spell Deity Starting From The Magic Academy is a better version of 'sign-in' genre and the 'low key background MC'

If you like OP MC, you will enjoy this. MC is OP. He is always stronger than his enemies. MC cultivation speed is fast, there will be strength increase in almost every chapters. The sign in system is pretty good. Author puts some reason why signing-in in specific place allows MC to get rewards. MC is is also pretty good. He's cautious but not a coward. No arrogant young master and their elder.

In conclusion, if you like OP MC, read this. If you don't like OP then avoid this.

If you enjoy novels like OVERLORD, where the MC is OP, this is the novel to enjoy.

So far the MC does not shows sign of wanting world domination. It seems more chill compared to the typical wuxia.

Definitely a new favourite of mine.
