AWM: PUBG’s highest damage dealing and most difficult to acquire, monstrous sniper rifle within the game. The ultimate air-drop dream, with ample power doing large harm, one shot to the head is enough for one to fall to the ground, regardless of the head gear one may be wearing. Its only disadvantage: The odds of it dropping make it extremely difficult to obtain, in which it all relies on luck.

You are my AWM, meaning: You are the one who I can only come across serendipitously.

Sickly sweet story.

Pe*verted, protective, nurturing ML x Shy, introverted, up-for-anything MC.

For a novel with no real driving scenes, this was a hilariously h**ny read.

The actual e-Sports competitions were blink and you miss it, definitely not that detailed, but this is definitely a romance novel with an e-Sports setting, not an e-Sports novel with a romance setting.

What a joyful read. It's not heavy, enjoyable, has everything I like of esport story: good teammates, cute characters, engaging games, tr*sh talking each other, etc etc.

And I'm so proud of Yu Yang's character development, he's such a darling.

An empire is not built in a day. A bridge can topple if it's foundation has been damaged but it could be fixed and strengthened by adding new materials. Over time it would weaken again but people can rebuild it again and again.

I love Yu Yang. He's a wreck but thankfully he's doing his best with healing. He's strong but how I wish that it didn't have to be molded by his past experiences. Yu Yang's adorable but because he had been long used with needing to cope up with... more>> the present, it was difficult to remove the lump in your throat when he's having a hard time. Don't be surprised if some events had been quick to end, Yu Yang's trying to put it behind him and the people around him wants to respect that. Just like what Old Man Hai, the poor can't afford to mope because they have to survive. This might seem cold but it's true. There are people who don't have the privilege to stop and cry to let it all out. Some might be unsatisfied with how passive he's being but please take note that he has anxiety. He's trying, if you think about how he's acting and putting effort in reaching out you'll know he's not. He has a part and it may not be noticeable but he's giving out his best.

Qi Zui is... a hoodlum, rogue, and shameless e-sports player but at the same time, he's a gentleman underneath all those. He might seem callous but he's trying to not force Yu Yang beyond of what he could take, taking heed of his trauma and state of being amenable to what degree of approach can he accept from him. Due to his second generation status, there are things that might seem common sense to others but not to him. He can only try to test the waters as Yu Yang and him try to revisit how they can move their relationship to a new direction. I admit I'm not completely reconciled with how easy it was to make their misunderstanding be water under the bridge but who am I to judge? As a public figure who had just his first love, mix signals and inability of the other party made it hard for him not believe that he was not betrayed or played with (not that it was entirely Yu Yang's fault), add to that it occured when the male lead got his injury while in need of playing in a competition located in US. They both have insufficiency but they're getting there.

The team is very heartwarming. It's the best thing for a working condition despite the looming pressure from fans. All of them are friendly, hardworking and loyal. I'm a bit worried for their Manager He's blood pressure. Lighting incense 🕯️🕯️🕯️.

Xin Ba, he's a Qi Yifan (from The King's Avatar). He's too pure for this team (much like Yu Yang). He was not a genius, and being abruptly positioned in a competition while he's just strating out was a sudden pressure to him. He questions himself but thanks to Yu Yang, he can start steadily find his confidence. I'm really looking forward to his peak (I can only imagine but I can see that it's going to be glorious).

Three cheers for Qi Zui's parents. They don't like what Qi Zui's doing but hell would break loose if other people other than them would demean what their son is doing as they are staining the foundation that their son independently built over time. They're proud and how I love how the mom tries to make her sound unbothered.

Now, I am just waiting for fluff. Hooray, and what's it. I am not satisfied with the shortness of the novel, I can only make myself content by envisioning what-ifs. Hopefully I could see some fanfics about it.

I was brought here by Bilibili Comics and an enthusiastic commenter who happened to mention this particular novel. <<less

This one is really nice, why the low ratings? There's fluff, angst, comedy, etc. Gosh, I love the main characters, gotta be one of my fav couples in esports danmei.

This story reminds me of an E-Sport book called 'Glory'. Both books are E-sport heavy, the side-characters have a lot of life, both have high quality translators, and both the MC's best friends are used as scapegoats for comedy (In this book it's the fatty). But the most similarity is how the two main leads came together. It's a 4.5 for me just because some the directed jokes were insensitive.

I'll be honest, I read up until 68 and ultimately got bored of the repetitive nature in which the author expresses just how terribly shy the ML is.

It's honestly cute initially, but the more I read the more I was beginning to wonder if we'll get any better descriptive phrases and if YY ever even got better.

It felt like they used the psychological disorder to push the point that "He's always been in love! Just Shy! And with a Sad Past : (!" And that would have been all... more>> well and good, and even made for a more emotional and interesting read, but after the conversation with the counselor and the start of the whole desensitization process, he just zips right into being better with an occasional quickness of breath or slight stiffness.

I wished they had done more with it, and maybe later in the story they do, but I stuck around for an additional 15 chapters after I first wanted to drop it just to see if it was brought up again and in what capacity. So no.

I understand that China isn't as knowledgeable when it comes to psychology, therapy and the whole shebang, but I feel like if you're unable to do it justice and aren't sure if you're right even after searching for answers, then it's better to not go that route as it could offend someone who may have said disorder This is in general, too, not just about this novel specifically

Anyway

I also want to say I absolutely HATED how they portray the counselor. Firstly, regardless of what it was or how minimal the information he gave may be, the fact that he still gave out information to someone that was not their next of kin or guardian bothered me. Phew.

If we're talking esports, you can say it was sufficient enough to call it an esports novel, but if you want to compare it to other esports novels, you can also say that it wasn't anywhere close to being successful. The team takes no L's and the MC is a god among men, what's new here? Substitute overbearing ceo with esports player and it's a match. The only difference is that he actually had a decent enough personality and the one playing ice sculpture was the ML who was shy and mousy in front of the person he liked, and ice cold, calm and collected in front of everyone else. It's a cute trope, if done well but I feel like it wasn't.

The ML was mousy the whole time. I needed him to make decisions for himself but for the most part as far as the relationship is concerned, he pretty much kept his head down and blushed his little heart out. It's a wonder how they could even progress into anything worthwhile when only one of them is doing the bulk of the talking.

Overall, I wasted about 3 days trying to push myself to read this but I kept getting distracted cause I was bored. Anyway, read if you're into it, dont take my word for it.

It was pretty cute. I enjoyed the e-sports descriptions as well as the relationship development between the main characters. The MC is actually very good to the ML, he wasn't super pushy, he wanted him to get well, was super mischievous but was very careful about the ML's past and boundaries. It was a slow and steady and super cute relationship.

The team and the supporting characters were super funny and very vibrant and fleshed out.

One minor thing is that I feel like everyone on the team cried a little too much? At one point they were shedding tears every other day...

Really fluffy and light-hearted novel overall, very little drama or miscommunication.

Translation was fantastic to begin with, but I believe the translation switched hands once or twice on BlackboxTL, and later translations weren't as smooth. But overall quality still pretty good. <<less

Fluff. I like it. There's not a lot of challenges.

Slice of life. The main couple is so sweet. They're exes and turned to lovers.

The plot is quite cliché. The plot is the typical captain with the lovers but there is just a bit of differences. I just atleast finished it and did not drop it so it means this is quite good.

Just a few seconds ago I finished this story.
I really feel very grateful 😭😭

Thank you, Thank you to all the translators for working hard to finish this story. Without you, I might not know this masterpiece 😭😭😭

As one commenter said below. This story is not just about e-sports, which can be very stressful at times. It's very balanced 😭😭

This is an e-sports story with a balance of romance.

Very very very soft and sweet 😭😭

I really love our clumsy Yu Yang. And our pe*verted captain Drunk 😭. They both are a perfect couple 😭

The dynamics of this story are really soft. It's warm, fun, and entertaining 😭🫰🏻🫰🏻

It was a quick read, engaging enough to zoom through the chapters. My fav part was the s*xual tension but no NSFW so.. Sad.

Compared to other gaming novels, I wasn’t very invested in the team or the gaming plot. Some effort was made to describe the mechanics/competition/teams but most quite one dimensional—as a support for the main characters to develop.

Honestly thought it ended around chapter 36-37 and was a bit shocked, but the continuation was more interesting than the first part. I do wish the ML shou’s childhood tension point... more>> was resolved with more story; it felt like it ended in a blink when the build up was haphazardly constructed. It felt more like the backstory was just an excuse for the subsequent part

. Which I enjoyed, but just made it all feel a bit fan-service-y than a proper novel.

All in all a good gaming romance novel with the necessary elements, just that I’ve read others that did it much better. <<less

It is alright..i guess. For the first time I'm not very fond of both the MC and ML, and I can't say that I am satisfied after finishing it.

Ngl, it's got full marks because it's Man Man He Qi Duo and I love their writing a shitton. But in comparison to FOG and Those Years in Quest of Honor Mine , this novel is rather weaker.

FOG and Those Years have clear antagonist (s) /villain (s) which act as foils for the protagonists, so the drama is more tense and in general intrigued me more. But this novel doesn't have any antagonist, making the over-arching esports plot feel like it's DOA. Another setback that this novel shares with FOG is the lack of care for the ending of the esports plot. This was quite frustrating for me because I'm a fan of this writer, but I came prepared because I already caught rumour of this before I'd started reading... more>> this story.

I wrote these downsides, so why did I give full marks and why am I calling myself a fan of this writer? Because Man Man He Qi Duo writes romance really f*cking well. Especially the teasing. Romance plot in general but the teasing is just top-notch. The romance plot this time didn't disappoint. It's heart-explodingly good. It's hilarious, it's thrilling, sometimes it's angsty, the misunderstanding is resolved quickly at the beginning like in FOG and Those Years and it overall left me with wonderful memories. As long as this author improves their endings, they're gonna become god-tier danmei writer in my eyes. <<less

Very cute. Could have been better since PUBG isn't the most exciting game to write about in my opinion, and the ML was busy overcoming his trauma and being shy for 99% of the story so there wasn't too much physical intimacy unfortunately. We were very well fed with emotional dog food though, I can appreciate that. Ending was open ended, but the extras were adorable. Having the MC retire pretty early into the story was a pretty new move in the BL gaming genre, so the story naturally focused... more>> more on their personal lives than on the gaming, which I am in full favor of. Not a bad addition to the BL gaming list. <<less

Okay read. It wasn't that it was bad, I even had a few laughs but the cores lacked depth. The competitive nature of esports was there but similar to stepping into a kiddie pool. The romance and care was there but only deep enough to reach the belly. Don't expect to get immersed.

Qi Zui, "Drunk", is a 25 year old god level player in esports. Yu Yang, "Youth", is a 19 year old youth trainee. QZ is shameless, outspoken, and caring. YY is quiet, strong, and standoffish.

They had dated a year ago but broke up after a short time. At that time, QZ tried to kiss YY but he had reacted strangely. QZ assumed YY was actually straight and used him to get ahead. This was a misunderstanding since YY liked QZ but had a psychological issue with physical contact.

At the beginning of the novel, YY had entered HOG, QZ's club, in order to see QZ again. The misunderstanding between them is cleared up earlier on. QZ still likes YY and works with him to get better.

The plot also covers QZ's retirement from the game due to his hand injury. YY takes over as HOG's captain and QZ goes for surgery. QZ recovers and they go on to win the world championship.
