I’m Gonna Live with You Not Because My Parents Left Me Their Debt But Because I Like You

Description

Links are NOT allowed. Format your description nicely so people can easily read them. Please use proper spacing and paragraphs.

The main character, Yoshizumi Yuya, was being pressured into paying off the debt left by his parents who had fled abroad. It was his classmate, Hitotsuba Kaede, chosen as the cutest schoolgirl in Japan, who saved him from this crisis of life and death. However, there was a catch. The condition required to fulfill in return for taking over his debt was — “In return for the loan, you have – to live with me.”

“Why did that happen?!”

Yuya’s daily life collapsed on this day.

“Yuya-kun. Let’s take a bath together.”

“Yuya-kun, please be my hug pillow.”

“That’s enough, Hitotsuba-san!”

The slapstick love comedy between the beautiful, but easy-going Hitotsuba Kaede and the serious and hard-headed Yoshizumi Yuya, starts now!

F*ucking sh*t! I love it!.... no stress elements like love triangles and unrequited love moreover no puppy second leads that gives you that second lead syndrome just diabetes and heartburn. Early romance tag everyone!

Dang! Yuuya's parents are so irresponsible makes me wonder how they raised him up until they leave abroad. I don't know if I should say this but whenever MC curs- (*cough) calls he's father (ex. "that f*cking father" etc.), I'd laugh... no I'm not a sadist.

Anyway they started dating around chapter 30 or above but... more>> they were already lovey dovey before that so it only increased the sugar content haha..I'm now a sugar addict and may get diabetes, still I don't care!

Recomended for those people looking for fluff! Especially to guys that almost read all translated novels with the same vibes here on NU <<less

I'm kind of surprised how high the overall ratings for this are. I can see the appeal, I guess, but I've been on a major 'fluff' kick recently, but this is hands down the worst one I've read recently. It has its good aspects, such as the female lead and the fact it's sheer fluff, and that it's not harem.

I get all that. WN/LN these days are saturated with overly complex plots, ridiculous chuuni stuff, melodrama, and harems. Damn, the harems. It's harder to find a non-harem romance than the... more>> reverse these days. So yeah, the ability to find something nice, simple, fluffy, and non-harem is great.

Too bad the MC is annoying as sh*t and the tags are all kinds of wrong. Specifically, the tags for 'Mature Protagonist' and 'Stubborn Protagonist'. Those are flat out lies. The MC has no spine, at all. He's the weakest-willed piece of tr*sh protag I've read in a while.

To be frank, it's really odd. He's not exactly a 'typical beta JP protagonist' that is so freaking terrible, but he's just as spineless. I really want to call him that, because he IS beta, IS weak willed, and so on, but he lacks many of the other associated negative traits that come along with it. Honestly it's more of a commentary on the author than anything else. The author is clearly a beta Japanese male who's never experienced love, and as such wants a female to be aggressive and make the first move (and every single move thereafter) because he's too pathetic to do anything himself.

The FMC is honestly quite enjoyable. She's a riot. She's clearly the crazy-obsessed-stalker type, but because she's the 'Cutest Highschooler in Japan' (we know this because she literally won a contest for just that, and we're told that every single chapter) all is forgiven. The fact that she's literally stalked him? It's ok. The fact that her parents and grandparents were overjoyed that she was selfish means that they're willing to assume a massive debt of the protagonists parents to buy him on the condition that they live together, with the protagonist's life fully mapped out, including marriage and future job. Oh, and he can never talk to his parents again. But nope, all that is ok because she's The Cutest Girl in Japan.

... yeah...

As for the MC, he's a complete pushover, and is clearly a Self Insert OC for the author. He is incapable of saying no, for anything. Every time he caves (which is all the time) he repeatedly says that 'any male in the world/Japan would do the same' whenever he's confronted by the FMC asking for him. A little upturned gaze, fluttering eyelashes, blushing cheeks, etc, and 'any man in the world would do so'. He's also not creeped out by the fact that a self-proclaimed lawyer just came in and threatened a yakuza's daughter, and knows the exact amount he's in debt. But the girl is cute, and ANY MAN IN THE WORLD would do the same. I'm really fu**ing tired of him being a spineless POS and claiming that it's normal.

As near as I can tell, the only instance he's stubborn is that he's refusing to instantly call her his lover. When, you know, they've never interacted before now. She's stalked him, and he knew of her, but never spoke. Now she literally buys him, forces him to live with her (alone, no parents) and sees the document stating he has to get married to her and takeover her company. All as a first year highschooler. He does all that, with barely even a token protest, and in some cases none at all. But he's 'stubborn' and won't admit to being her boyfriend. Yeah no. He literally caved on every other issue (EVERY) up to and including sleeping together on the same bed, her barging into the bathroom, walking together hand in hand, and so on. Please note that in 30 chapters, less than 1 weeks' time has passed. Oh, and yup, they're now boyfriend and girlfriend! He gave up on that too.

And as for him being a 'Mature Protagonist', sorry he's really not. There should be the 'Childish Protagonist' tag instead. Not saying that's bad, it's just the tag listing is completely wrong. He shows his emotions on his face like a child, goes along with anything anyone in authority says like a child, has childish food tastes, is pretty tsundere about everything relating to the girl, blushes like a little child, and so on.

Again, it's not a bad thing to be childlike - he is, after all a CHILD. First year highschooler. That's fine. Just don't put on the Mature Protagonist tag. The only thing that would be 'mature' is his ability to do his own chores and cook. If that qualifies as mature, I was mature at age 12.

TL;DR Really awful MC with flat out wrong tags. FMC is cool (assuming you like the crazy obsessed aggressive type in fiction). 3/5 at best. I'm just really tired of the MC trying to justify his spinelessness as something normal using the bandwagon fallacy. Sorry, just because a girl is cute, I'm not going to literally give up on every issue, and nor should anyone justify that 'every man in the world' would do so. <<less

The plot is good but I can't help to think that the MC was just forced to like the heroine. This reduced the fluffiness of everything they do.

The fact that they're flirting early should be good, but with bad execution of the story, it's like everything is half-assed. Like, it feels like they are just flirting out of nowhere so it doesn't have a weight. If I were to give an example, it's like you see some couple you don't know flirt out of nowhere, and it's honestly annoying. It... more>> would be good if they just slowly become in-love to each other, or maybe they just show they're affection little by little without masking it with teasing (flirting).

Another thing is because the female lead is the one who is pursuing the MC's love, it became look like the MC is spineless.

That's all from me, some may enjoy this story, but after reading a real sweet-inducing, diabetic story, I can tell that this one have a forced fluffiness. Maybe it will happen in the next chapters, but I don't hope anything when most chapters I read are barely acceptable for me. <<less

I read this as a trainwreck. In the same way you look at car crashes as you pass them on the highways, or when you see someone pulled over by the pigs, it was hard to look away from.

One character's gender changed during a conversation; another became a Ms. out of nowhere; Kaede, the literal main character in this series, had her name changed during a conversation; one girl's name was changed three times in one chapter; Wash became Flush, Cake became Song, and I honestly have absolutely no idea... more>> what "niveau" means. Not to mention the censoring of words, including the phrase "bon appetit", which made things especially jarring.

In all honesty, you'd get the exact same results putting the web-novel through Chrome's Auto-Translate, especially because then you could do away with the 'translators' and editors talking amongst themselves during scenes.

That said, the story itself is... Pretty awful, I guess. A guy basically gets bought by his stalker and just decides "This is fine because she's cute" then gets Stockholm Syndrome'd into falling for her.

It's reminiscent of late-90's or early-00's "romance" series, but there was no Development or Awakening moment for the characters. A guy kicked a ball a lot so some girl stalked him; she's an obsessive stalker he lives with so he dates her.

There was absolutely nothing Human about the characters. It was enjoyable, if you don't think about the beyond-sub-par translation quality, or if you think that this wish fulfilment story that sounds like it was written by a fourteen-year-old shut-in with lines in there like "[...] Kaede's big, jiggly b*****s. It was awesome to say the least" could be anything but the desires of some loner.

The kiss scenes were the most unbelievably described, and the Main Character doesn't have any redeeming features, but if you read it only as a way to see how relationships devoid of any basis in reality might exist, you've certainly come to the right place.

The actual published version does away with a small bit of this, but not enough to make it worth the ¥700 price tag on each volume.

I'd give the story three stars, normally, but after how butchered the entire thing was by this team, to do so would be considered a crime against humanity and an affront to all of the gods in the Heavens who spite the world. <<less

I couldn't continue reading this. I know the summary already says what story this is but the only good thing I can say about this is how realistically the male lead reacts to his insane circumstances. Other than that it's just uninteresting giving us a fully dere female lead from day one with the reader knowing zero about her or the male lead.

Holy crap! Japanese protagonist that has a normal relationship, one that develops from a crush all the way through interc**rse (Happens between chapters. Is only talked about in general terms & past tense). The ‘plot’ feels slow at times but their relationship’s progress feels pretty normal & realistic.

This is all about the fluppiness and wholesome vibes with no stressing drama or shts. But at the same time, it's also it's disadvantage since everything is just too convinient to the MC. Well that's always been the case for most jap mcs.

It's a decent read if you're not bothered by the fact that the fMC is obviously a creepy stalker and the MC haven't realize it until now since it seems the author also ignored that part. And it's just disorientating how the fMC seems to have a case... more>> of being a mild yandere in the beginning as she tries many things to forced him into being with her. <<less

it's alright... but my complaint is how MC is too much of a p**sy, in fact this is the case in almost all of the JP romance webnovel/novels/anime that i've read/watched so far. Is that just how it is in Japan..? Is there some sort stigma against men taking the charge in a relationship or something?

Typical rom-com except extremely fast paced.

Character - Typical beta pu*sy but isn't dense at all MC despite how fast the pace of the story is while FMC is huge beauty while also kind of the creepy stalker type in a sense.

Side Character - Side Character are practically one dimension not the usual type of clingy or thoty side female until chapter 60+ onward the FMC's friend start acting like not much different like a loose thot and being pushy and chapter 100+ adding a few more meaningless side character probably... more>> for the sake to add in a few more chapter.

Story - Extremely fast paced romance as most mention and really fluffy + sweet, side character wasn't that annoying compare to most typical romcom where you usually have MC's friend + girlfriend acting like some thot couple or being pushy af. After chapter 100+ it just get really repetitive that author even add in meaningless character as mention at the side character description part where they are like mainly only written for the sake of adding more chapter lol <<less

If someone is looking for an "extremely fast paced turn of events" kind of romance this is it.
The Deus Ex Machina introduced in the beginning regarding the MC's debt and how the FL swoops in and saves him is, well, too overly Deus Ex Machina for my taste. How they came to be is truly too unreasonable but just happens because it's the plot...

If you're looking for a good romance development novel going at a reasonable pace, then this isn't for you since as I've said, the developments are... more>> truly too fast and doesn't get into the immersion of reading a romance novel. <<less

So... I'll be quick.

Is this another fantasy of a super hot Love Interest falling for the MC (cohabitation included) ? Yes, is that a problem? No. Nothing new from the Rom-Com book; they're an item (in all but in name) from the beginning of the story and it's only flirting from there.

However, it has two demerits big enough to make it average IMHO.

First, while drama's not needed to decent love story, the author forgot there's more to a romantic relationships that just flirting, ever heard the joke "so sweet it... more>> gives diabetes"?, here that's no joke, it gets tiring.

Second, the convoluted reason for the cohabitation: TL;DR his parents left him with a debt to the Yakuza and she pays it to live with him, HE HAS NO RIGHT TO REFUSE. It's as bad as it sounds and he can't (in theory) wholeheartedly reciprocate her feelings at first because of it, but because they're an item from the get go, by the times he's over it, nothing really changes.

The punchline? They're both handsome, popular, are friends with the same people who where just waiting for her to confess; this is not a "hot girl falls for a loser" story; she could've just call him to the back of the school, confess, and he'd had said YES, so there was no need to that complicated start. Even the cohabitation thing could had been written differently.

EDIT: I was wondering if it was a self-insert story or not, but if you think that Megumi is a girl name, something starts to click. <<less

Well you know what kind of story this is, it's a fluffy wish fulfillment wn. The story is fluffy but it isn't as sweet as other ones like [Angel next door] because the pace of the story is in the 5th gear. The developments which are supposed to take months happen within a week.

Spoiler

The bath scene, sleeping on same bed, living in the same home, proposal happen in the duration of 1 week

[collapse]

Well if you want to enjoy this wn you'll need to shut off your brain to some extent and as an avid enjoyer of shitty isekai stories this is no problem for me. The reason she loves him, what plans she has for their future, etc.

Spoiler

The reason she loves him is that she liked him playing football even after the practice was over and the effort he put into it.

[collapse]

From what I've read it feels like author is really trying to replicate the story line of Angel next door or at least the characters personalities are almost the same which isn't much fun if you've read Angel before.

Spoiler

Has the same premise like the character is pretty good looking but is oblivious to it, has a best-friend who is a bakcouple, when MC gets into a relationship with the fMC all the girls start complaining/being envious and all the boys are jealous, the MC isn't aware that he is flirting with the fMC and just says embarrassing stuff non-chalantly, MC likes fmc's food more than anything else, etc I can go on and on so I'll stop.

[collapse]

The story tried to become something it was not so it didn't really hit the mark. In my opinion if author didn't just copy paste everyone's personality from Angel next door it could have been much better both the stories have different pasts so the characters personalities don't match with the situation. Well reading it felt like reading one of those generic isekai harem op MC manga/novels it isn't well written by any means but does the job it is supposed to that is to create a fluffy atmosphere albeit half hartedly but it does.

I personally enjoyed it cause I just ignored all the bad writing and horrible pace and just focused on the fluffiness, so if you can do it go for it would've give it 4* but author copying all the characters personalities kind of annoyed me so I'm giving it 3*.

So in conclusion if you want to read it just shut down your brain and just focus on fluffiness cause the the story doesn't take itself seriously either. <<less

It's not bad, but it's not good either. Just turn your brain off and enjoy the slice of life, comedy and echi (these 2 are extremely h**ny with no restrain). The romance is poorly done, it's not on the level of 2nd cutest girl or even angel next door romance. Heck, even Omiai is better than this one even tho the setting of that novel was more fictitious.

The second year part is especially jarring. Kaede is now suddenly one of the basketball aces, and one of the new character is... more>> suppose to be an old friend of them. The world setting is now as messy as an isekai. <<less

Okay so let me get this right,

The main character's parents leave him with their debt, main heroine comes in to pay it in full and basically tells him "I own you now" and tells him that they'll get married as per the contract. He's forced to live with her, and it very quickly becomes apparent that she's not only basically a stalker, but she's also h*rny for the MC.

If this girl hadn't been rich, beautiful and a girl, this would've been creepy af.

That having been said, fluff is justice

I see that this type of romance is rising, I see more and more story like this. The only problem I had in this novel are the uneven relationship with MC and fmc, I am not saying they didn't like each other, what I am saying is fMC done too much for MC where I don't think MC could do anything to deserve it

s*upidly sweet, don't mind the little details just "consume" it.

it's wish fulfillment type of story about man and woman relationship in teenager way and toned it down to create "clean" relationship (so there's no r18).

good for light reading, but once again don't mind every little details just accept it as it is.

So far so good, well I can say that the part about the debt and reason for cohabitation is ridiculous its normal and us typical in these kinds if series so I'm willing to turn a blind eye.

Well its just a story about a boy and a girl that somehow gets into a <i>crazy</i> situation and ended up living together, its kinda cringy if you don't like these tropes and can be turn-off to the series but as you read it, it is interesting and you find out why the... more>> girl even fell in love with the plain boy

Spoiler

Lol turns out he is not plain looking and is extremely popular being the school's soccer team ace and is pretty damn good at playing a true certified normie, its just that the MC is quite oblivious about himself and isn't described at all well in the earlier chapters

[collapse]

The world is not that yet detailed, and only a few side characters are in which I find likeable.

well this is basically my impression as of now looking forward to new chapters! <<less

yeah, it's fine. Just shut down your brain to not think about the plot. So far, it's exactly what the description promised. No dark twists, no insane love triangles, no cheap drama. Honestly, I didn't know what I was expecting. I mean, sure I read summaries just to get a feel for what I'm getting into but this just felt... wrong.

If you don't wanna be spoiled, here's a shorter way of saying it:

The Author threw away an interesting premise for a bland one. What a waste.

Spoiler

Chapter 1 was incredibly interesting, in my eyes. The fact that even the Yakuza knew that MC's father was a weasel and took pains to take care of MC and practically raise him was already an interesting premise.

Of course, that's not how it turned out.

Suddenly, FMC, the prettiest girl in their class, in their year, in their school, in the prefecture IN JAPAN comes in and practically BUYS MC. On top of that, FMC and HER MOTHER start practically blackmailing the Yakuza to keep their hands off of MC, who didn't say sh*t at all despite the fact that he could have defended them—why didn't MC speak out against FMC's Mom? Because she's his lawyer, that's why. But, since she's his lawyer, he's also allowed to make certain decision THAT DO NOT LEAD TO HIM LITERALLY CUTTING OUT THE PEOPLE WHO RAISED HIM????
