“The son of god Gula has returned.”

I was lost in the world of gambling.

I turned my back on my family and even betrayed my lover.

I wasted every day of my life.

It was a life of tr*sh.

The reality told me thus:

That I would amount to nothing no matter what I did.

In order to change my pathetic life, I chose fantasy, instead.

Even then, it was the same story.

I wondered if salvation would come at the end of the long road.

But, I was forced to kneel down in defeat in front of a powerful entity.

The tower I built up with my own hands crumbled into nothingness.

Just for once, I dearly wished to know the truth about myself.

“Come closer, my child…”

I will not hold back this time.

Realized I didn't write a review after so long. I most likely won't finish the end, no need to, this is average stuff. The biggest reason why I remained invested in the novel, was because of how interested I was in the main world. The development of the character and most importantly, his relationship with his family was beguiling. I was expecting something, anything but a quick and simple fix. I wanted to skip the overplayed and typical plot development of the alternative-world and focus on the main world. The... more>> few moments we return to the main world, my attentiveness would come back. However, it all just gets worse as the novel progresses. The issues are slowly resolving themselves. "Time heals all wounds" is pretty much how it plays out. Within the course of a year or two, I don't remember the time differences between the 2 worlds, issues are mellowed out. Then we get the final moment of forgiveness. I felt chagrined.

This is of course, not even mentioning the typical plot developments in the 2nd world. To put things neatly; when I was remembering this novel, I thought it was a JP novel, after thinking more about what happens, its just a typical regressor/2nd chance KR novel. They are always rated like crazy. Similar to how cultivation novels that are basically copies of eachother, have high ratings. <<less

Plot development - 9/10

Characters - 8.5/10

Emotional impact - 10/10

... more>> World building - 9.5/10

Humour - 7/10

Reading this has been a very enjoyable ride. There is always a sense of progression and mystery in the ways that the story will unfold itself. Unlike other isekai novels, the weight of the original world is never taken away, the people that are isekaied still have to manage their original lives, bearing the burden and responsibility of both Paradise and Earth. This become a huge emotional driver for the story, where the weight of both worlds keep beating down on the protagonist, making him grow in interesting and surprising ways.

Like any regression/isekai story, the protagonist is OP. But the way the author handles it is really commendable, very few shortcuts were given for free to the protagonist, a lot of it is driven by his wit, hard work, courage and will. Sure, many privileges were given to him early on, but you will soon realize that even those were hard earned by his previous self sacrificing everything, and even then the present self had to work harder than others to make use of them. Very endearing. <<less

I expected a great novel based of the other reviews. But it fell later on and became unbareable. It's defenitely not as good as Author's POV, or Supremacy Games.

the only thing I dislike is how they treat staying in paradise as an addiction.. It's simply starting over a new life, there's nothing bad about it. Other than this novel has pretty much everything, comedy adventure tragedy even a bit of romance, the action is superb too; every fight is a f*cking banger, detailed to the extreme.

I can't understand why he is still training even though it's already been 100 chapters??? Does the author think it's enjoyable to see a guy remain weak throughout the entire story and having to read about him train like a maniac? F*ck, not even naruto in shippuden took this long to get stronger. I wanted to give 3 stars but accidentally pressed on the fourth star.

This story is boring so far. The MC isn't even strong yet. I wonder how many more f*cking chapters it's going to take for him... more>> to become Level 9 and become the strongest. <<less

good novel but his family and the way they treat each other is a big turn off for me.

MC was a gambling addict but all his family did was give him money and told him to stop (lol?) It's like giving a drug addict drugs and telling him to stop.

Bigger problem is that MC thinks its all his fault, yeah sure he's mostly at fault but his family isn't innocent either, they gave him the money when they could've just stopped giving it to him.

Spoiler

I really want him to slap his sister, she's a b*tch

The Second Coming of Gluttony was a fun ride. If I was offered the chance to read this for the very first time, I would take it in a heartbeat.

The main characters and side characters are fleshed out, our main protagonist isn't some god tier level cheat character from the get go, he's faced death several times and barely trudges through.

I usually don't leave reviews, but I want to clarify some things for the potential new readers reading other reviews. The protagonist of SCOG is a loser - complete tr*sh. Unlike other novels, his regression doesn't magically make him not a tr*sh loser. His growing strength and power doesn't make him not a tr*sh loser. His heroic actions don't magically erase a past where he hurt, betrayed, and alienated those closest to him. And although he quits going to gambling halls, it's only because his addiction changes gears.
This story is great thanks to the amazing battles, side characters, and especially the character journey that the protagonist goes through. Eventually, he'll recover and learn new tactics to handle situations, but don't expect to be 100 chapters in at the beginning of his journey and have him be a martial god.
Also, for people complaining about harem, it's literally tagged harem. Imo the author did us a favor by keeping everything explicit to the side stories.

Really good novel, the character development was good, the world-building was good, and the action was just crazy. Great ending too, and the side stories and epilogue were amazing.

Definitely one of the best action-adventure novels out there. You can really feel the character progression throughout the story. There isn't any unnecessary power scaling. Characters feel well made with a good amount of background info to support them.

The author really knows how to tug heart strings. I read this without having big expectations but it turned out great. Atleast in my top 3. There are some plot holes and pretty obvious abuse of plot armor, but for the most part, it was a far better read than most of the sh*t that ive consumed.

This is a really good, well though out novel. My main issue, and the reason I'm not giving it 5 stars, is because the world the novel takes place in just feels kind of empty. Roughly 500 chapters discounting the side stories after the main story finishes, and the author chooses to focus nearly all of that on developing the mc's character at the expense of nearly all other character depth in the novel. Overall, still solid and in the realm of shitty webnovels, this one is a standout.

When you read this novel you immediately get the feeling that it was written by someone who knows how to do it.

I don't want to focus on things like characters or story, because it should be obvious after the first sentence that everything was top notch. What I do want to point out is that while reading this novel, I was able to feel its atmosphere, enter into its world. Moreover, there are many unforgettable moments here, where the hype reaches the zenith. Many times I couldn't tear myself away... more>> from reading and my heart was pounding like crazy. This novel is simply awesome and mega addictive. If you decide to pick up this novel you will be doing yourself a mega favor. <<less

It was a good read but after reading some korean novels and alot of chinese novels, this novel is alright. The romance is decent for a harem novel. If you don't like harems I still suggest reading because the MC only shares love interests with 1 girl for like the entire novel until it gets to the short stories. Not that many plot twists or anything like that. It reads like a typical shonen novel. Fights are not that great, but still a great read.

Really good premise. The romance/ harem part was a bit weak but the action is good and the character development gets a 10 on 10. The side stories are also fun and make it seem like a slice of life - comedy kind of novel.

If you're here for badass hero saves the world then definitely go for this one, but if you're looking for some cute romance action there's none of it here even though the tag says it's a harem.

Everything I could ask for in a WN: action, romance, humor, character development.

What I didn't like (spoilers) :

Spoiler

The s*xual violence / monster r*pe imagery was off-putting though, but thank the author it doesn't happen to the main heroines.

Awesome. That's the best word that I can describe it with. Gotta say it's probably one of my favorite Isekai novels with a nice MC, good but slow romance and good plot.

Read it till the epilogue. One of the best series I've ever read so far. There are things at the beginning which are not cleared only in the last quarter of the novel, so my suggestion for the new readers is to read it from the POV of the MC as what he's capable of understanding and doing with his current abilities.

Overall, I truly liked this novel. There were times where it got me a bit teary, times where it made me laugh, and times where it made me angry.

Mr.... more>> Author, from me you have 6 stars on this.

Have a good one everybody! <<less
