Fourteen-year-old Su Bei almost died when she caught a high fever, got transmigrated into another world, and finally figured out a shocking truth—it turned out that her original world she was just a novel and her whole family were villains.

The woman who gave birth to them was the cannon fodder in the novel. She and Su Xiaobao were written like this in the extra chapter: One was a little bastard who tried to bully the male lead’s daughter and eventually got thrown into prison and the other one became an escort who, after having failed to seduce the male lead, was killed by an evil director. They also have a dad whom they never met and was the biggest villain in the book.

Back to her original world, the first thing Su Bei did was to take Su Xiaobao and find their father.

Su Bei: Su Xiaobao, quick, call him.

Su Xiaobao: Call him what?

Su Bei: Call him dad.

Su Xiaobao: I don’t want to, do it yourself.

Su Bei: Dad!

Looking at these two dirty children in front of him, Mr. Qin’s eyes showed disgust.

I read the reviews before reading this and I'm so glad I still decided to give it a shot. I really enjoyed it (contrary to my expectations). It's a fun twist where ML is not necessarily a love interest.

The romance is almost missing tbh, altho I didn't feel its lack of presence jarring. The novel is mostly centered on MC and the relationship between her and her father and twin brother and them fighting against the villains.

The story is abt a 4.5/5 stars for me. I do have some complaints tho:

Unfortunately, we don't get an update on what happened with the original female lead and her daughter and, also, no pairing for MC's twin brother. Dunno why the story had to be centered on MC up to the... more>> point of not even showing what came out of the twin brother's gaming competition.

Except for the original main characters, which are the obvious villains in this story, I was really annoyed by the twins' mother and grandparent.

Spoiler

Their grandpa especially, why did he have to treat his stepson (original male lead) better than his real son? It would have been fair is his wife also did the same, but she also treated the original male lead (her biological son better). When the twins' father started to destroy the og!ml's company, they tried to stop him. Why didn't they do that in the original story tho when it was the other way around and even ended with the twins' father getting killed? They're absolute tr*sh for me.

This novel is decent at what it is: a light, fluffy novel about an OP protagonist and all the OP people around her doting on her, with an exaggerated 'rags to riches/glory' + face-slapping plot. The characters for the most part are pretty one-dimensional, but that's all par for the course.

There are a few serious problems other commenters have mentioned too.
The approach to gender roles is really a bit much.
Then there's the way the author occasionally slides in reminders that 'the main 14 year old antagonist-girl will probably fall victim to a s*xual predator and the protagonist knows this' without suggesting the idea that the protagonist could or should do anything about it, as if it's the logical conclusion of 'what comes around goes around'.

With all that being said... I just read this novel for the second time. And there's really one main reason for that: Su Xiaobao. These two siblings just have the sweetest sibling relationship. Their interactions are natural and unpretentious, very fluffy while remaining distinctly familial. And he even helps her

.

... Unfortunately, the dad always gets in the way. Either because he was jealous or because they aren't the same gender, both of which felt like terribly reasons. Honestly I kept wanting to crawl through my computer screen and tell the dude, "Hey! You've known these kids existed for what, a month now? They've been relying on each other for fourteen years (fifteen if you tag on 9 extra months), who are you to bu*t into their relationship?! You didn't even raise them!"

... So yeah.

It wasnt that good nor that bad. But firstly, the father supp to the daughter but to the son🥴. The girl was totally kissing up his *ss first but oh well after they become all good. The extra in the other dimension wasnt that good. Like he showed his care for the daughter but the son?? I hate novels were characters shows preferism to boys but this novel isnt it either. The dad should treat both of them equally. Also the ML was boring af and disgusting. The son was... more>> cute I enjoyed his relationship with the sister. Wished there was more of their moments.

The plot was 😐. Boring ig. At first it seemed interesting but later it wasnt anymore. There were also some unnecessari comments about ski. Color oh but thats chinese novels for you. Meh wasnt that great I also skipped the lasts chapters. <<less

Fluffy, heartwarming story about 2 twins and a dad becoming a family, despite not knowing about each other for 14 years.

Highlights of the story for me are when each twin realizes that they've finally found a real dad who would be there to protect them, care for them and watch them grow up.

The rest of the story can be summarized by: face-slapping in school, punishing the villain, hacking competition, super minor romance of the FMC.

Major things that prevented me from rating this higher:

  • The story focused too much on the FMC. I'm very interested in the male twin's POV, besides being a tsundere sis-con.
  • The "dream" world wasn't explained very well. All I understood was FMC lived there for 4 years and read about her story from a book. Doesn't explain how she got her OP skills from there.
If you're looking for a light read and don't mind unrealistic plot points then this book is perfect. It's nice to binge read and translation is good but could use an editor.

Above average-ish. Read for the slice-of-life like, rich parent-child interactions and light, convenient plot. A fluffy read, no need to bring your brains along.

I happened to read some reviews talking about predatory behaviour and grooming etc before I and started reading and for a long time I thought the DAD was the ML!!! Lol. Idk, while I found MLs character entirely boring/unappealing, the way I saw it there was nothing of the sort? Nothing is initiated or conveyed till everyone is legal. The ML actually liked her before he knew who she was and maintained a big-bro type relationship for years. I didn't see any coercion, dependence, leading on or guilt-tripping. I accept that the CPs relationship isn't really fleshed out (Honestly they didn't even have to include a romantic angle). It was all a 'let's just end it' vibe but other than that..

Anyway 3/5.

Rated 5/5 when originally was reading until around chapter 85. I had caught up to the translation so later came back to finish with high expectations. I know wished I left it at 85 where the story and family dynamics is 5/5 amazing. Therefore, my advice for new readers would be to read until university time skip then just read the extras. You get the full story needed without the romance which ruined the entire story for me which as someone who normally reads romance feels unbelievable for me to... more>> write.
Spoiler

The romance was shoehorned in at the end and felt forced. I wouldn't normally mind since that was not really what I am reading for but having ended up with Lin Shaochi it ruined the story for me. The rest of the chapters felt uncomfortable since in his eyes she was 14 (although we knew she has an older mindset) and he was an adult when he fell in love. She was way underage and this based in the modern day so no-one can excuse the behaviour as a different era mindset. Even he admits to himself his thoughts are wrong to the point of illness and tries to seek help. The rest of the relationship was him trying not to make it obvious to FL while at the same time being as close as possible. This is not right having understood his feelings were wrong, his attempt of treatment which seems to have just been some sort of CBT was not working he should just have made a clean break only replying to her in a pure business manner which would have been only a few times since almost nobody at the company later knows who she is due to her lack of input. Her brother lets him off because he bought gifts for him as well includes him during the years, the whole mindset just feels like grooming both children. Grooming per google is when someone builds a relationship, trust and emotional connection with a child or young person so they can manipulate them which feels pretty accurate here from Shaochi's side of the relationship. I would have preferred Xie Minxuan or just add a line saying she met someone later, like the literal one line her brothers relationship got.

This is a story based around the family you do not need to force romance especially one between an adult who deeply feel in love with a minor.

The novel is not bad to pass some time but it's a bit shallow. Everything is done to make the FL shine more. One thing that really didnt fit right with me was that the ML seemed more like an uncle, although she was technically 18 mentally when they met, in reality she was 14 and he was 21. Idk it just doesn't feel right. Another thing was that she suddenly learnt hacking through reading books in her other life without any actuall experience, like sorry but it was a... more>> bit unrealistic and fake. <<less

The best book ever!

Spoiler

FL knew the future and everything and seems like a typical transmigration/reincarnation novel at first.

But, over here, she doesn't try to dominate the world or dabble in every industry or just goes into the entertainment industry. That's what I liked most in this novel.

Over here, the FL is smart enough to just pack up and goes to find her rich daddy along with her twin bro. She doesn't think overly of herself and admits that she needs someone to rely on.

Overall, it's just the sweet and day-to-day interactions of a father and his newfound twin kids. Some face slapping to villains and kinda getting emo over their struggles.

This novel had so much potential, but alas I am dropping it. I probably biased because I have a huge pet peeve with large age differences especially when the ML is much older than the FL. The power dynamic is too unequal and in RL that can lead to really potentially dangerous relationships. Normally I’ll close one eye and keep reading if I like the story, but yoooooooo this girl is 14 and the ML is 21!? And godbless Mr. Qìn but his whole speech on how he can’t let... more>> her like someone her own age and would rather her like someone older and more “responsible” literally made me want to hurl. It’s normal for 14 y/o’s to like 14 y/o’s just let them be!!! Stop trying to ship your daughter with someone who is literally 7 years older than her!!! Like at some point the conservatism just got to be too much for me. I’m kind of angry at the author for spoiling a story with so much potential with her conservative idealism. Not only with age differences but also with how “girls have to protect themselves”! Like yes, but also Mr. Qìn makes it sound like it’s her responsibility not to get r*ped sometimes. I know he’s doing it out of concern, but the author really is too conservative. <<less

The story is very wholesome. Sweet family interaction. And there not much dogblood drama and few face slappping. A very nice read indeed. There no much romance. Only when at almost last chapter when MC grows up and falls in love. Most story in involves around MC. So the brother and dad not much background story. The story not finished yet. There are 2 more chapters. So hopefully there extras about them too. Thank you translator for great translation.

Overall the story was good and a quick read. Qin dad was super cool and cute in accepting and adapting to twins. There were so many fluffy family moments. Also slight quirky moments between the twins.

My only disappointment is the ML. He fell for MC when she was 14 and he was 20. He knew it was wrong and decided to not pursue these feelings for which he took therapy. Fast forward 4yrs, now MC is 18 and ML has spend 4yrs around MC and her twin brother as a... more>> "big brother" figure. Many times MC admits that ML is like a brother figure. THEN HOW CAN YOU BE IN LOVE WITH SOMEONE YOU CONSIDERED AS BROTHER FOR 4YRS!!!! That doesn't seem normal. ML confesse MC after 4yrs and suddenly they are dating.. I mean how. As a girl I can't imagine someone who I considered as my brother and family for so long to be turned into my love interest. Feels super wrong...

ML ruined the ending for me.. <<less

, it started to become a bit weird.

Honestly, it’s a cute read because of the interactions with the dad and the children. But, the development is VERY surface level. It’s kinda cliché. At some points, some of the interactions are just strange. I wish the interactions were more equal too; the MC seemed to be better regarded compared to her brother. Like I understand it’s because their personalities are different but it’s just so unequal.

Regarding the ML, I’m even more grossed out:

Spoiler

At first, I felt sorry for Mr. Lin because he had no idea she was fourteen. The MC didn’t give any hints about her age either. So I didn’t blame him for nurturing feelings. And I felt relieved when he went to get therapy because he realized he had mistakenly fell in love with a minor. But, when she was older, he still had feelings for her. It just seemed like he was waiting for her to grow up. It grossed me out so much. And I think he even confessed that he had liked for the past four years, from 14 to 18 years old. It’s just pe*ophile vibes all over the place.

[collapse]

This is why I can’t continue to read it. Unless the ML changes, I really can’t read it. I mean the author hinted something else throughout the book until it came to these chapters. It’s wrong on so many levels.

I don’t regret dropping this. It is just disappointing. I was annoyed with the constant expression of gender roles and the colorism too, so I won’t miss this much at all.

The translator did a great job though. <<less
