All Chu Lian had done was to read a book where the female lead had cheated on her wonderful husband. While wondering why, before she knew it, she was waking up in the body of that very same female lead!

Everyone is singing praises about this web novel and meanwhile 15 chapters in I just think that the FL is a snob, I get that she 'transmigrated' from where ever she came from but the thing about the food is getting annoying, I suppose its a set up for her to be discovered as a culinary genius or whatever, but its just too exaggerated. Its like when in modern Chinese novels the MC goes to live in America to study and they say the food was terrible, All I ate... more>> was hamburgers for 3 years (like really??) and thank God I'm back in Chinese as that is the only place to get real food *eyes rolling*. Like I get that in both scenarios your palate might not be accustomed to the local cuisine, but to say EVERYTHING is disgusting?? Ridiculous and its an insult to the era/ locals- why go there then? (Or in this novel scenario isnt it her that has the problem and not everyone else?). <<less

I'm debating between 3/4 star..

I read this years ago, first historical chinese novel that I really interested to read & wanted to finish since I started to recognize more of historical novel other than European/ american based, but my english is bad that time & the translation to my languange stop in the middle, it's hard to find english translation of this too, in the end I finished while using google translate to translated chinese characters I'm so dumb I barely understand but when you're so hype, curious & it's... more>> your first time, cliffhanger is hard blow.

Anyway basically good written story but with some plots & characters- scenes etc that you don't like then wish you could change it <<less

If you're here for what the title promises, go elsewhere. You're in for 250+ chapters of Mary Sue : Cooking Edition before there's any couple interaction. The romance was unsatisfying and I shipped the MC more with any character she had more than one positive interaction on screen with than with her husband... Finished it mostly because of the good reviews hoping it'd pay off in the end. It didn't.

Truly an amazing story. The characters are pretty good and the story isn't dragged around aimlessly a lot (a little bit is okay).

We have typical annoying characters, a loving couple, a tsundere hubby, and a lazy little FL.

Although I felt that the end was too rushed. There were pretty amazing side characters and their story had a lot of potentials which were completely wasted by just two sentences.

I would've loved it if it was explored more.

Plus, there's our bun. The bun had a decent time on screen while he was in FL's belly but, after he was born, not much of him was mentioned. It would have been amazing if her relationship with her father was also more explored.

I was pretty satisfied with this story but, the way too rushed end threw me off. Seemed like the author just wanted to be done with the story already.

Read this years ago and still remember it as one of my favorites of that time.

Don't remember the specifics but still remember there was a lot of satisfying face slaping.

ML was obtuce and a generic general, with past grivances

FL strong business woman from the future (if I remember correctly a foodie or the like)

It's a sssslooooooooooooow romance and a lot of family drama

Def will read again to refresh some memories and give it a fair score

The end was extremely rushed like the author wanted to get rid of writing this story as soon as possible. It was a big disappointment. On the other hand, there were many parts that were dragged across several chapters or even repeated several times.

it was great ready about all food and foodies. We need a new tag foodietransmigrator haha

the story is written nicely and the plot is amazing. Although ending is rushed but overall writer work is good as well as how the story processed, twists and turns, all are written well. I LIKE the main character wits and her cunnings.

It worthwhile to read the story....

I enjoyed reading this novel. Been binge reading it for some few days now in between my breaks. It has made me hungry on more than one occasion with all the food it serves. It has its highs and lows in some areas. It's a nice light read if you don't try to think too much about the minor details.

Else, my disappointment lies in the execution of shallow tricks and schemes. Some of the face slapping did land well, like the wash basin incident and a few others.... more>> But a lot of these are something I come to expect when girls her age would pick on her and not madams who already have children of their own.

The antagonists and side characters, and, there are many, are not very memorable save for a select few who constantly interact with MC and ML. The antagonists also seem one dimensional and canon fodder just asking to be launched into the fire with their intentions clearly written on their faces. That also applies to the final bosses of this novel.

On a much lighter note..

What I do love is the MC herself. Sure she can be a bit OP sometimes but eh, I still feel like it's not too over the top. She still has things she's not skillful at and flaws that make her seem more relatable. Overall I think she's level headed and not unreasonable.

I like her interaction with the ML. As it gets better, I mean. Not at the beginning obviously. The ML.. I did not like him at first. Honestly, I wanted to see him suffer more and start from scratch to court her properly. But if the MC and ML didn't go anywhere and are constantly at war even at that point, it can feel dragging. I agree though, the ML got off easy. But after he realizes she's not the same person as he thought she was in his previous life, he became doting. They still have some issues after accepting each other of course but they tackle it together. And I really love seeing them work together in tandem. <<less

One of my favorite novel that I read few years ago. I'm gonna re read it again because it's so good. Well the disappoint in part probably the rush ending, yet it's still a good novel.

I would give this a 3.5 but that is not an option, so I will round up since it was enjoyable enough to read. I do prefer when the male MC isn't awful but in this case there was backstory to it that made sense at least, so it was bearable.

I don't like the fact MC didn't deny that disgusting book ML guy from the strat. What did she mean that she afraid him? Lol, it just make the MC to look like scum girl who wants to use Mary Sue card. And there are many loophole thoughts that Author decided to write but for overall review, it should be said it's worth reading. I like the interacting between MC and ML before and after they fall in love and (before she fall in love with ml) MC just ignore... more>> anybody to live on her own life and struggling herself to get profit on any chances. I recommend this one if you want to read for fun. It's pity that this novel have no extra. <<less

This story was such a pleasant surprise!

I honestly cringe when characters transmigrate into a book, because my logic mind goes how will they exist in a made up world that is fixed to go a certain way and how can the world exist beyond the story end. What about minor characters, will they even have personalities etc.

But I'm so glad I read this! If you like food, you will love this!

The only downside that the characters are a little stereotypical. Which isn't that much of a problem, because you know,... more>> it's within a book setting and its not that serious of a book, but at times it makes characters feel very shallow and predictable. Having read other C-novels, many of the characters feel so similar, so that's my only issue, but otherwise it made for a good gripping read due to the premise. <<less

The hate to love trope was nicely done. The first half was really good because of the chemistry between the protagonists. The latter half felt lacking, and repetitive. The ML is also quite emotionally s*upid.

I liked the angle where the male lead was reincarnated and had to learn to love the transmigrated soul for who she is now instead of mistrusting her for what her past soul did to him. An interesting plot. I love cooking in novels so that was also a plus.

I really liked it. I've read both transmigration novels & rebirth but never one that had both. I thought it dealt with it well showing how the two different circumstances could affect the story. I loved that FL was a foodie haha maybe I've just been reading too many featuring cultivation only. I liked that while she tried to be filial she didn't let herself get bowled over and was ready to cut ties when necessary. ML was good, he was an ice cube but for good reason, the original... more>> owner was a b*tch to him, so the trauma is real. Reading his growing feelings & watching him open up was sweet. They have their miscommunications but had trust in each other. Overall a good plot even I'd there are a few holes, the twist while predictable was executed well. Also the lady general Sima was very appealing ? They have a good friendship but I gotta admit they'd be a good set up for a yuri novel.

Down side is the plotholes, loose ends and repetitiveness.

I swear the author constantly feels the need to test Changdi's feelings with all the maids lusting & scheming. I was annoyed with the last one (tbh the thing with the 11 year old was creepy thank god he was very firm about not wanting her especially pointing out her age) I honestly had hopes for Jingyan but she fell into the typical trap. Also the author dropped erlang's romance, not even a brief "he and princess are engaged" in the last chapter, what was up with miss su sometimes she'sokay other times she's troublemaker & what about her husband how'd they meet up or whatever the secret was.

I love TMR so much. Stumbled upon this story because of Safari suggestion (can you believe that) earlier this year, and couldn't be more happier that I found this gem.

This story was the first ancient china novel I read, as I've never been interested in ancient china stories, but this novel really changed my mind.

The FL is clever and quickwitted. The only thing thats uncomfortable for me was her age lol. The ML was terrible at first because he thought that his wife was no different.
