Trash of the Count’s Family

When I opened my eyes, I was inside a novel.

[The Birth of a Hero].

[The Birth of a Hero] was a novel focused on the adventures of the main character, Choi Han, a high school boy who was transported to a different dimension from Earth, along with the birth of the numerous heroes of the continent.

I became a part of that novel as the tr*sh of the Count’s family, the family that oversaw the territory where the first village that Choi Han visits is located.

The problem is that Choi Han becomes twisted after that village, and everyone in it, is destroyed by assassins.

The bigger problem is the fact that this s*upid tr*sh who I’ve become doesn’t know about what happened in the village and messes with Choi Han, only to get beaten to a pulp.

“…This is going to be a headache.”

I feel like something serious has happened to me.

But it was worth trying to make this my new life.

For the people who left bad reviews are the people who hasn't even read half of the story. So please if your gonna judge this book on few chapters then your idiot.

Spoiler

AND also peoples who find the MC annoying or saying ['he doesn't talk & just do things without explaining'] like bro read the story careful, the author clearly gave hints that he has mild symptoms of Alexithymia (google for more information) he can't show or explain his emotions clearly nor can understand them properly like normal person do. And he is clearly shown that he is working on & trying to improve after Choi Hans asked him to share his thoughts and emotions with others. Cale clearly said that he didn't knew this and truly tried to improve and he did improved in later part of the story. Also the author has gives so many different angels of his personality in novel that you will think he is human who has flaws as well as good characteristics, he is not genuinely bad person, he is just human, who can be greedy, can love, has flaws. Which is rare to have in fantasy/action novel MC. So if don't understand & still has problems then leave and stop spoiling fun for others. And still after reading the novel if you think you didn't like the story then okay it your choice ¯_ (ツ) _/¯

[collapse]

(sorry for ranting)

Anyways, this novel is so beautiful written that I can't explain in words. It's masterpiece, it has everything you want in fantasy/action novel (except harem and romance, duh.) The way story is explained as we progress is magnificent. Like you get shocked as the twists and plots starts bombing at you out of nowhere and your mind just get 🤯 And please have patience with this story because it will satisfy your needs like your every question, every doubt, every theory as well as your thrust for OP MC who has very funny but badass personality with OP storyline.

So please do give chance to this novel, you will enjoy this novel so much that you will never stop talking about it.

(Edit) July 6th, 2022 -

God, this story is beyond what I had expected!! I mean author is literally genius, how can they be so good at making and keeping such long novel so exciting?! I used to think every time in arc around 700 chapters that there is no way author can out do themselves here BUT NO!! They just make plot more interesting and more engaging as time pass. I can't wait for part 2 chapters to translate more so I can read it in one go. So I just hope people who are gone read this or thinking of reading this novel, please don't mind the bad reviews since theses please didn't even touched the tip of the iceberg. <<less

This review I can only do using my inglorious self as a reference.

I have been reading fanfiction (and books of course;) for a long, long time so I have seen all the tropes multiple times in hundreds of fandoms.

This novel has been refreshing. I developed a low tolerance for plots driven by misunderstandings, where one short, reasonable exchange between two people in a second episode of the tv series would nullify 30 episodes of drama that will follow, but this is one of the cases where the author, somehow, makes... more>> it work for 600+ chapters.

It definitely seems like a well-planed novel. Things tie in with each other after hundreds of chapters and there are no major or glaring inconsistencies or plot holes for a casual reader, or even a re-reader, to catch. (Usually, the more I enjoy something, the more eagle-eye I become when it comes to spotting any fissures in my happy bubble.)

Plenty of times I was surprised where the plot went. As some plots close, others open.
Lots of amusing moments. The pace is quite quick and engaging.
It made me think while making me happy due to its wholesomeness.
No romances or any pairings at all and I did not miss them. Surprisingly, I don't even ship anyone!

Does it has issues? Cliches and tropes?
Of course it does. So what? They exist for a reason and it's what you make of them that is important.
The true question is whether it will click with you or not. There are masterworks I haven't been able to read or watch cause they are not my thing, there was no zing. It doesn't make them less beloved by other readers and watchers.

If you are looking for a long novel that will keep you entertained, read at least first 30 chapters or so and/or go read mahwa. <<less

I'm not good at English so I'll keep it short.

It's quite interesting in the beginning, but it's starting to became quiet bland from past chapt. 200... I like his motto and mindsets are, getting rich and slacker, but I don't quite like how hypocrite the MC is, saying he wants to slack or whatever it is and how he doesn't want to get involved but he always contradict himself to the end and it is going on loop.. how the MC always contradict himself and it getting quite annoying now.

But... more>> so far so good. <<less

This is a very good recommendation to those people who just started reading webnovels. I actually very very like the plot, characters, flow of the story butttt, I just can't with the UNBEARABLE CRINGEYNESS all throughout the story. This story I believe is written by a high schooler. There's this sense of naivety in the story. It's like this novel is written for kids but it's not??

one of the must-read LN that I very much enjoyed reading. I found this gem from the Manhwa and suddenly find myself in chapter 600 for the second time.

first of all, this novel is wholesome. A well-thought plot with flowing language and humour. Mostly I laugh at the unbelievable moment, crying in an unimaginable scene, and thrilled in the impossible plot (and relieved by the MC reliability).

There are no wasted relationship or scene that works as a filler. In my memory, every scene has its part in the story either... more>> it is to build or to end something, even when it does not explain plainly. With a good pace and enough background foundation, I could clearly imagine the happening scene in my head and that was one sign of a good novel.

What a heartwarming novel. It clearly contains everything I love: adventure, humour, thrill and puzzle. <<less

One of the best novels I have ever read, I am addicted lmao. I really like the MC perspective and his noble future dream of being a slacker, I like how the other member of his parties get to stand out too, and basically all of them have the same goal of survival, I really like it so much ><

REALLY GOOD, DANG!

I read it as a replacement after going through a roller coaster of emotions after reading ORV so I will compare TCF to ORV mostly.

For me, ORV is a novel with a good relationship in which the side characters treasure the MC, and I love their relationship. But then, here comes TCF. TCF is better than ORV I should admit. The plot twist is really, really good that you wont know the smallest action of the MC and the side characters will bring something really big afterwards. The side characters are used VERY WELL and NICELY. Not only does the author make a delish bond with each of side characters with the MC, the author builds a very good relationship one side character with other side characters gradually... more>>

to the point they called each other as family

[collapse]
which is the one that lacks in ORV since the side characters only have a strong bond with the MC but little to none to the other side characters.

The MC is the one with a clever mind, collected, and (as long as I remember) never panicked out. He always has his head cool and full of plans. He indeed uses good and strong people but at the point they are in a win-win situation that would make you think 'Ah, this deal is fair and clever'. That's why the MC could bring strong people as his ally with max royalty.

The plot, AT FIRST, indeed feels so slow and lost, but that's only in the beginning and also the key for the next events to take place. And, I love how the author brings the background of the MC's real identity into the world where the MC is thrown to.

I, too, am not really interested in this novel in the beginning, but when I reached chapter 100-200 when the wars have taken place, damn it, this novel is gold. <<less

I found this novel quite exciting and fun at first, with a world and a story that was interesting and fun. The first 50 chapters hooked me in, and left me waiting for what he would do next, but after a while of reading I simply gave up. I gave up because the characters are severely lacking, and were not fun to read about. They exist just for their part in the plot and do not grow like humans, and they just didn't feel real to me. The story also... more>> became stale after a while, with everything happening not seeming like it mattered anymore, because of all the OP characters he befriended. The stakes were no longer high, and every character love the MC. It will keep you hooked, but the substance in the later chapters were lacking. <<less

While I read many of light novels up to now, this one specifically is my top 1. Almost every chapter gets me excited so far. Many amazing moments without unnecessary and boring periods. I am still only on chapter 66 while reading it but it went way above what I expected. I was staying away because of boring title but trust me this one is a must read. AMAZING!

Update (chapter 140) : still amazing !!!

Update (chapter 246) : this becomes epic. Even made me cry (lol).

Update (chapter 378) : It's... more>> epic. I found myself really attached to characters. All chapters full of action and relevant events. No irrelevant chapters at all. New threads created and closed in time. Just epic !!!

Update (chapter 506) : I really like they keep names easy to remember and always introduce characters in an easy way to recall. For example "Dorph Lion King"... this alone gives all context. I don't have a problem recalling characters at all due to this. Other novels should learn from this!

Update (chapter 640) : after 640 chapters, more that 150 hours of reading I am still amazed as to how awesome and epic this novel is. I am suggesting it with full confidence !! <<less

I only created an account just to write my review for this novel because honestly, I've seen some people who didn't like it yet I think this novel is worth the read. I may not have reached a lot of chapters yet but as far as I am reading, this is a good novel that has an interesting main character, Cale Henituse who is a good scammer strategist (I love his scams though HAHAHA). Also, I like the chemistry he has with Raon (the great and mighty dragon and also... more>> cute in my eyes, heh) and the others in his group. It doesn't have the unnecessary romance that you spot on other novels which is quite refreshing, to be honest. Anyway, I'll update and add more to my review once I read more chapters.

update (October 4) : I have now read 400 chapters and it's still consistently good. I also have to let you know that things mentioned at the very start of the novel have some ways of being connected to what gets revealed in the future and that's what I like about TCF. The relationship between Cale Henituse and the others around him just feels all natural and the female characters are also well-written. I really love all of them, especially Rosalyn. As I've said on my earlier review, there's no unnecessary romance that other novels have and it still stays that way and that's what I like about this novel. Like the other reviews mentioned, this novel is a DRUG that I find myself staying until 5 f*cking am to read. It's that good. I feel like I might still update this but I'll leave it like this for now.

update (October 18) : I'M CAUGHT UP! This novel is really addicting. I have to say that this is consistently good way from the very start up until the latest translated chapter. If you're still contemplating whether to read it or not, I'm telling you that it's definitely WORTH your time. It's the novel that you won't get tired of reading over and over again. AAAAAAAAA. It's so good. <<less

It's funny how people make efforts in giving bad reviews on this novel saying it is typical, cliche and whatsoever but the thing is.... Almost all fantasy novels are cliche, including solo leveling (don't get me wrong, I really love solo leveling but let's be honest, it's still your typical fantasy novel but a lot more interesting).

Among the hundreds of typical and cliche novels out there, this is worth reading.

I understand if people don't like this but please don't talk sh*t about the story cuz' personally, I like it and... more>> for my standard, it is good and interesting.

Just say stuff like "it is not my thing" and begone with it. Why make a lot of effort to hate things. It's tiring and make you a lot more hateful. <<less

I mainly read novels which are not formulaic or which have enough interesting plot lines/ character view points for me to route for them. This novel is similar to lazy dungeon master genre of novels but is far more focused on narrative and less on romance. But it does its genre of multitasking MC justice in the best way possible.

TOCF is a novel which starts with a pretty cliche premise

In it's first 5-6 chapters it may seem deceptively generic however, it would be sufficient for a reader to see the... more>> flow of first 30 chapters to form an opinion on it.

That is why it is easy to pass ToCF off as another novel in which MC is omniscient and has plot armor and goes on cheerful harem collecting escapade.

  1. That is not the case here. This story is about guys who are good to there family and vicious to there foes and ardent towards their dreams. The MC is not all knowing and runs out of his novel knowledge at just the right moment in time. And this novel still drop F bombs 400 chapters in despite being stretched a bit in that section as original plot lines tend to end and new ones are a bit meh to digest so far in.

I like how the MC is not a power obsessed but is a very responsible fellow for his choices. He is kind of knuckle head when it comes to reading emotions directed at himself but is aptly smart reading the circumstances he is in and gaining advantage of them.

I like the antagonist in this novel. He is the complete antithesis of our MC.
And I like side MC Choi Han. Choi Han is pretty lovable dude and is chill. That is not to mention the quirky and witty interactions of Alberu and cale.

Most of all I like the sidekick black dragon you have all seen in the cover. He is innocent yet feels real. His growth and monologues breathes more cheerful sense of life into this pragmatic tale.

All in all too good to pass up. <<less

I've started reading this novel ages ago but dropped it around chapter 91. Few years after that, I decided to read it again from the very beginning. And I must say that it was the best decision in my life to wait for the chapters to pile up because it made the reading experience really fun! Review

This novel somewhat interesting, but average at best. Its definitely overrated by a sh*t ton. I would have given it three stars, but I'm giving it 2 stars to balance out the overrated-ness. I thought it was boring when I first read it, but then I reread it, and I thought 'well maybe its not all that bad'. The MC Cale, is a reluctant (tsundere) hero, who meddles with every big problem in the novel and scams everyone he meets right after stating that he wants to live a quiet... more>> life with no trouble. The plot is slow and gets repetitive at times. This was what threw me off the first time I read it. I'm the type of person who likes a fast paced story that doesn't waste words, so if you don't like slow-paced plot stories, this novel probably isn't for you. I think whether you like this novel or not depends solely on your personal tastes, but its not for me. <<less

I rate this novel 3.5, maybe 4 tops. The novel started off so good that I feel every character adorable. The idea of going inside a novel is kinda like a copycat of the novel's extra but this one did it better. Up to my latest chapter, the plot was decent and could definitely tell right off the bat that it's a whole lot better than other light novel dregs out there. There's just one critical problem of this novel for me. It gets repetitive.

The characters' dialogue and banter just... more>> keeps getting repetitive that is making it so cringe worthy.
Spoiler

Raon telling he's great and mighty. Cale wants to smackpeople the back of their head. About Cale's smile. Clopeh's crazy praises. There's a lot of dialogues getting repeated. Even events get repeated. They defeat an enemy then make them submit to add their roster. They steal something from their enemies and use what they stole to clap them etc.

[collapse]
It gives you chills at first, and even made me laugh and cry. A good analogy to this is the first seasons of pokemon anime wherein each and every episode team rocket tells their cringy dialogue while posing. Another one is in the Strike the Blood, wherein before every part before battle they say "This my fight. No senpai, this is our fight".

Worthy to read? Yes. But dont expect something grand <<less

Finally a weak MC. An MC who's truly not interested in levelling up and becoming a hero, but it happens as the story progress even though MC tries his best to avoid spotlights. It's really a fun read as the MC who's not interested in any adventure does all stuff he is trying so hard to avoid without even knowing. The author did a really good job as the MC character is preserved and happenings around him are with logic and flow naturally. The only thing that lacks until now... more>> is a romance, but with MC's character, I guess he will find it troublesome. <<less

is the tsundere dragon we wanted from the slime isekai, and once he enters the party, the book has changed for ever.

By far, this is my favorite light novel I have ever read. I feel like this novel like of spins the common tropes found in the isekai genre, especially in the "reincarnated as the villain\mob" genre thats poped up as of late. Now, some poeple think this is about a guy that knows the future, trying to get ride of his 'bad end' but he literally escapes is bad end in chapter 3, and his future knowledge is more like "these people are strong" and "something happens in this location" at some point... and the novel has already diverged from his book. Its more like he is a spy master then an isekai protag--he actually becomes one as the story goes on and his book knowledge becomes more useless.

For example, all lolis are kept in animal form 90% of the time. like what, could you imagine that? Animal loli's being in their animal form at almost all times becuase they perfer that form and only turning into lolies when they have to? wow.
Spoiler

though we only have 2/3 loli forms explored, roan's human from is still a mystery... lol

[collapse]
While the novel does have 'misunderstanding' trope used, its not like how they are in other fics. The misunderstanding are almost always on his minions point of view--its rare when our protag does it

For example,
Spoiler

Cal, coughing up blood: "Sh*t I didn't think this would hurt! NEVER DOING THAT AGAIN" *cries internally*

Everyone else: "how SELF SACRIFICING, he did that even knowing he would cough out blood!"

[collapse]

Other things to note: The character names are easy to remember becuase they are all spelled very differently. You know pain when you got a Hisashi and a Hizashi and you get them confused for half the book. Only character with a similar name is Cal and Cage, and Cage isn't really introduced for like a long time and is a priestess and normally gets their title added with their name. This novel is such a gem. I think I fell in love with this novel later on when how the little parts of the plot was weaved together. Characters you met now would appear later. And the revealing aspect of this novel is very natural. You can tell the author took the time to build a concrete storyline.

It's a pity people rated this novel so poorly because even if you quickly judge, it deserves to be at least a 3. The MC only knows up to the fourth (?) volume... more>> so he doesn't know it all and BECAUSE he changes HIS CHARACTER'S plot, there's character development in OTHER characters that the ORIGINAL MC wouldn't have done. The major plot hasn't changed & original MC's strength hasn't changed either.

Cale's desire to be a slacker DOESN'T conflict with what he is doing. For me, I know that if I want to live a comfortable lifestyle later on, I need to work hard now. This also has to do with his personality to help others even though he says he'll be a bystander. So really, you just got to have the intelligence to not take Cale's monologues by themselves, but see his actions - WHICH IS WHY the other characters respect him & believe he got their backs.

The character interactions are well done with variety of memorable personalities, and makes me laugh & excited for each new update. SIDE CHARACTERS GOT THEIR SCREEN TIME, but not in the annoying way others authors have done. <<less
