Two families’ children were switched at birth. One of the families is a household that does business, and the other is a household of a marquis. There is a vast difference in status.

Unfortunately, Yu Xiang transmigrated as a person that was originally from a business household and was brought up in marquis’s residence. As soon as she arrived, the truth about her lineage was exposed, her legs were disabled, and she was still bearing the reputation of “the unlucky star”. In desperation, she had to hug her elder brother’s thigh firmly and attempt to live her days first. When the original daughter of the marquis’s family returns, Yu Xiang will return the position to her.

A few years later, the original daughter returned, Yu Xiang was prepared to leave, but she found that her technique of holding his thighs was too professional. Her older brother refused to let her go!

The marquis concealed his smile with the wine cup: How can his pampered wife, that grew up with him, leave whenever she wants?

I read this MTL because I was too impatient.

This is probably one of my favorite MC's in a webnovel! ?

She's so decisive and straightforward. And she uses a whip to get her point across ?? I like her arrogant attitude toward life even though she spends most of her 2 lifetimes in a wheelchair. She's not totally merciless and knows how to forgive if the opponent is sincere. Even though she's bold and fierce on the outside, inwardly she has a kind heart, and she's without schemes. Tsundere!

I especially liked... more>> her relationship with the ML, they both kind of went with the flow, gradually building the atmosphere between them without the annoying angst. She was even aggressive and jealous at times, LOVE IT because don't want to read anymore about wishy-washy feelings. I also liked her spiritual connection with him.

Overall, the story isn't bad. She's too lucky in life, but once you read why at the very beginning you understand. There is tension especially with those who try to plot against the ML, but it makes the story more interesting.

The spiritual aspect of this story won me over, because I get tired of reading about main characters who don't believe in anything, or just overly arrogant believing only in themselves.

Even the side characters were interesting! Like princess nine ?

Though not smutty, I still enjoyed the slight taboo theme ?

Regardless, this was mostly well done. The ending was good, but something about it didn't let me feel very satisfied...?
Spoiler

It might have been that the author barely explored her flower growing power/ability.

Or maybe it's the fact that the people in the kingdom (except for grandma) were too understanding about their relationship. Even if they aren't blood related, SOMEONE outside the family should have made a stink about it.

[collapse]
That's why I didn't give it 5 stars.

I'd definitely read it again once fully translated. <<less

This just feels very wrong. Dude's like 20/21 being touchy feely with a 14 yr old. Novel also kinda weird saying 12yr olds getting married is normal and a 16yr old is basically a spinster. FL weirdly obsessed and attached to her brother in both timelines. She sees him as brother but there are scenes where she okay showing her buttcrack and breasts to her brother. And this brother can't look at her without getting turned on when she is only 14yrs old. He keeps touching her lower back and... more>> sniffing her neck. Dude went through a lot in life ik but his attitude towards FL isn't healthy.

i may not have minded it this much (I definitely still would have) if she were a bit aged up. No, but seriously I am not one who hates switched birth/non bloodline love stories but this one is plain weird.

it isnt even like those stories where they go "i can't live without them" because of trials/late realisations etc because they love each other. Instead it's 'oh no I see my sister figure girl as woman because my brain is sexualising her and I don't know how to stop' <<less

I read this mainly because I was invested in the MC. She's absurd and cute and fun and surrounds herself with a gaggle of equally silly but sweet friends.

She is blessed with golden fingers, but it's not to an exaggerated degree. ... more>>
Spoiler

Mostly, she's just smart and has protection from ML, fake grandma and a smattering of other characters. But this protection is something that she earned though her efforts, as opposed to the MC halo.

[collapse]

Now, I'll come to why I have it 3 stars -

While the tags and summary indicated 'fake' in*est, it was genuinely hard to swallow at points,
Spoiler

because for a period of 4 years, the newly transmigrated MC (10-14) and the ML (16-21) lived and treated each other as siblings. The change from intense sibling love to romantic was abrupt on both ends... especially with the ML, because his romantic feelings came right after the time jump, he went from 'so what if she isn't related to me by blood - she'll always be my most precious SISTER' to 'I can't wait to marry her' - how did this jump happen? We weren't able to join him on his journey of seeing her in a different light. I think this could have been resolved if ML had openly declared to MC at age 10 that he was aware of her identity, but because of her life-saving-grace, he would always protect her (or something along the lines) - so for the outside world they'd still look like siblings, but within their dynamic with each other, the shift to romance wouldn't have felt as creepy. Also, the MC has some really confusing and creepy ideas about what is appropriate behaviour between real brothers and sisters.

[collapse]

I docked another point
Spoiler

because of the physical intimacies the ML took with MC when he began to see her as a woman (not sister), while she still saw him as her older brother. On top of that, even in the time setting, she wasn't of age - she hadn't had her jiji when he began kissing her cheeks, hugging her, sticking his hand down her back - all done with the mindset of loving her as a woman. He didn't even know if she would ever see him as a man, not brother, but still took liberties with her - the reader knew from her internal dialogue that she didn't mind, but she NEVER conveyed this to him and acted like she didn't see his thoughts. So, ML for all intents and purposes was groping, feeling, kissing her without considering what her opinion was. While they're endgame - at that point she still saw him as a brother and was underage. Whenever these bits came up, I had to skip to keep my sanity. All he had to do was hold off for less than a year

[collapse]

Having said all this, this is still an enjoyable story - there is enough dog-blood drama without being suffocating.
Spoiler

The face slap moments are cathartic, because (while appearing cold-hearted) the MC is quite rational about how far to go with revenge. I also liked that there was redemption (YSY) and enlightenment (LS) for certain characters and that their fates changed depending on what point in the story they came to their senses.

The summary is somewhat misleading regarding MC's personality. She's pretty bratty, but she's not whiny and is a fierce go-getter who doesn't put on any masks. She's not completely OP, most of her power comes from the people around her but she's still capable in her own right. She's also not obsessed with the story like female transmigration MCs tend to be, she treats the world like it's real and is more concerned about making sure she has a good life. And wrt to the thigh hugging, rather than forcing... more>> herself like other thigh hugging MCs, she genuinely cares for the ML and is rather possessive of him.

The FL is a classic case of "digging your own grave", as well as having the truly unfortunate (but hilarious) mix of "protagonist bad luck" but without any of the protagonist halo. She's cunning and selfish, but in a believable way where I actually sometimes feel bad for her (although not by much, since most of her bad luck comes from her own bad decisions). That latter point also applies to the other side characters- they all feel somewhat believably real, which makes reading a lot more enjoyable.

There's a lot of face slapping but also not a lot of face slapping? MC is pretty straightforward and usually physical when she retaliates, so most of the dog blood scenes are people digging a pit for themselves, bad luck, or just a side effect of MC's decisions. Because of that, most of the time rather than cheering for the MC, I feel like both the MC and I are watching the drama by the sidelines.

The romance is my cup of tea, but I can see that people may have an issue with it. Putting aside the issue of "is it in*est or not", there's a fairly wide age gap between MC and ML, and ML starts becoming affectionate in an amorous way fairly early on. MC also thinks this is normal, which makes me question her relationship with her actual blood related twin prior to being reborn... ML doesn't feel like a classic yandere, but the possessiveness is very apparent with how he orchestrates her life from behind the scenes. But it's consensual (?) so I guess it's ok? It's the kind of relationship SJWs would screech over, but it's my guilty pleasure.

Come for the in*estous (?) brocon/siscon 'siblings', stay to watch FL's amusingly horrible luck and decision making. <<less

Engaging story-telling, satisfying face-slapping. The MC has very sharp mouth, prickly attitude, could be harsh, but with decisive and fair personality (so I like her, it's so fresh to see a different type of female MC). She doesn't care about other people's opinions, she does whatever she feels right, and this happens to fit what the family needs.

Spoiler

Their family was declining, the ML has to grow up quickly to become an assertive, ruthless, and cruel man under the siege of greedy shu uncles who saw the chance when his father died early. Out of necessity and the slim opportunity he had to be close to the Crown Prince, ML then decided to act as the royal family's butcher. Being the executioner, he had great power in his hand, so it is important that his whole family distance itself from the society to avoid royal family's suspicion of taking parts of even colluding with anyone.

[collapse]

The only problem is the villains are too s*upid, most of the time they drop rocks on their own feet instead of being defeated by the MC. It's funny in it's own way!

Spoiler

And this story is quite different from ordinary is that the villain has extremely bad luck, she harms not just others, but herself mostly. I became quite sorry to her in the end, life is difficult with such a bazi.... but she also has very bad personality so my sorry was wasted. Other stories have their MC blessed with very good luck, but this story has it's villain with very bad luck.

[collapse]

I also like the character of ML's mother, she is annoying and irrational to the extreme, but quite different from many other mothers in this kind of stories, definitely not a stereotyped mother. The grandma was also not a completely benevolent or completely selfish/overbearing grandma like the stereotype. Basically I like most of the characters here, except for the sister who got redeemed in the end, the redemption and the change of personality is odd. <<less

I mtled it, fairly readable.

One big point I need to point out is that I like in*est stories so I might be bias that's why I like this a lot. But their interactions are very sweet, and the development from sibling to sweetheart is quite 'believable'. The ML never interact with the MC until she transmigrated so no real 'sibling' feelings are there and MC and her original real twin already had an abnormal relationship so it's just her good luck to be able to act on it in this... more>> other world. But bear in mind it's around the 80s chapters for even a kiss to happen. Could be too mushy for some people, I like it though. And their mutual obsessiveness and possessiveness is hot.

The antagonist is pretty entertaining. She tried hard to do her job digging pits for our MC but MC being MC able to slap her everytime to vent our anger. Though sometimes we just want to puke blood because the characters tolerate the antagonist too much even when they know how rotten she is. But at least I love how there's only one consistent antagonist we need to focus on, not a revolving number or braindead cannon fodder.

But in the end, its not a ground breaking novel but if you really like really slow burn in*est stories this will be your jam. <<less

I really this take on transmigration. The FL is straightforward and has no qualms about trying to be the so called "virtuous women" of that era just for the sake of pleasing the crowd. She instead go ahead to do and say what she wants for the sake of herself and her loved ones. This is such a refreshing route. Thanks to the translator for translating this and introducing such a great story to us readers!

I finish Reading this on MTL in 2 days and now I can't wait for... more>> the translation to finish for me to reread it.

Spoiler

I love how they have female cannon fodder that are NOT evil all the way to the end. Her eldest sister started out pretty s*upid but I like that the author made her grow up after all the adversity she had to go through. The scene of her beating up the villain OFL was classic. not once but twice!

Her grandmother is also a wonderful character of how a great matriarch in a family is supposed to be! She is strong for her family and loves and plans for the ML and FL and even Siyu so lovingly. She does take a bit of convincing to accept the FL and ML being together at first since have grown up as brother and sister which I think is convincing since it is not conventional. But all good in the end because she does come around and goes back to being that wonderful grandmother waiting to cuddle her great grandchild.

The ML is more fleshed out too in this story. It does say he is good looking but unlike other novels which keeping talking about how good looking the ML is in every single page, this author instead takes the time to explain the hardship the ML had to go through to get where he is. I like how yandere and possessive he is of the FL! (he only want to allow the FL to be recognized by her brother and go back to her real family 3 days before her wedding.... haha)

I was deliberating on whether to rate this novel with 4 or 5 stars, but decided to give it full marks.

To be honest, I don't really understand the title of this novel. "The Yandere came during the night".

At the beginning I took the title literally, thinking ML would visit FL during nighttime etc, but for everyone thinking along the same line: You're wrong. Among the associated names is the one for the manhua "Brother's Sick Love" which is much more accurate in my opinion.

Come on, let's talk about it, shall... more>> we?

Our female lead is Yu Xiang. She grew up disabled, namely unable to walk in the modern times and instead was the head of several companies. She had a twin-brother with whom she shared feelings. Which means, if he was in pain she would be as well. They had a strong spiritual connection, at least from her side. As her brother had a weak heart, her mother asked her to die for her brother and donate the heart to him, so he could survive. Because Yu Xiang loved her twin-brother desperately, she agreed.

The brother later went to a monastery and asked the monks to help his sister reincarnate and live a blissful life.

This took a huge toll on the senior monks and caused a junior monk to upset, so he tempered with the lotus flower representing FL's reincarnation and later tried to fix it.

Due to this, FL transmigrated into a book she read previously, which had been given to the monks by her brother.

She became Yu Xiang, the 2nd young lady of the Marquis Yu Residence, who just turned 10 years old and by accident saved her 15 years old brother from an ambush which caused her to loose the ability to walk. But she has a golden finger regarding plants, able to grow any plant perfectly, even the rarest and most difficult to cultivate plants, which helps her quite a few times when she gifts them away. It's an interesting golden finger.

The male lead in this novel is Yu Pin Yan, the then 15 years old Marquis Yu. He is your typical male lead. Overpowered, coldblooded and abhorrs women (though during the story we will learn that he has a very good reason for this). But the sole exception is naturally FL.

Aside from this main couple, there are several other important characters to be named, as the novel mostly revolves around those few people:

Yu Si Yu, 12, shu sister of ML who grew up exploiting the original to support her concubine-mother who had been banished to a village after giving birth to Yu Si Yu. She's the first antagonist of the novel but in fact nothing more than an unreconciled child who wants to marry high and therefore made quite a few idiotic decisions. But after FL beat her back into place a few times, she finally became enlightened and turned into a very nice girl. I like her, especially her ending. I find it very satisfying.

Old Madam Yu, the grandmother of our ML who is surprisingly gentle and clearheaded and not at all biased, she doesn't mistreat any of the children but cares for each of them. And she's a devoted buddhist who cares for her close family and protects them fiercely. She's not easily deceived by the heroine but instead cares for FL despite knowing she's not the Yu family's granddaughter.

Lin shi. The mother of ML. A delusional, depressed woman who spent 14 years in mourning for her late husband who died just when FL and the heroine were born. This led to Lin shi detest FL and the original, thinking she's a jinx, while also completely ignoring ML. The bazi of the two girls are polar opposites, FL having a great fortune and the heroine being a jinx who brings calamity to those close to her. But Lin shi doesn't understand this and instead thinks that only her daughter is blessed and so the only two thoughts in her mind is to get her daughter back and dreaming about her married life and her late husband. In short, she's a useless furen who only thinks about her real daughter and doesn't care about anything else. For the sake of her daughter, the heroine she does countless despicable things and only at the very end, when she gets retribution, does she understand how s*upid she has been.

Don't get me wrong, I dislike Lin shi, but I have to admit she's not evil per se, only extremely muddled and completely s*upid. Other mothers only concentrate on their sons, knowing they have to rely on the son to survive, but she? It's like she never gave birth to ML, she only recognizes the heroine. It's ridiculous.

Shen Miao Qi/Yu Miao Qi..... She reminds me VERY MUCH of Ruan Ning (also known as "Ruan san niang") from "Transmigrating into the female supporting character with a good life in a laid back novel". She's equally idiotic, her schemes equally s*upid and she's just... I don't know what to say. My head is turning into a revolving door from all the headshaking I'm doing while reading. Honestly. She knows from the very beginning about her origins, as the Shen family doesn't hide it from her.

Qiu'er. 6-8 years old ninth princess of the empire. She's a bit very slow witted from birth, but becomes FL's best friend almost on the first meeting. She's the treasure of the Empress, Emperor and Crown Prince and just an adorable foodie xD

Shen Yuan Qi, top scholar, FL's biological older brother. He doesn't really show up much but seems to be an honest and intelligent young man who tried to find his biological younger sister.

So far those are the most important characters to take note of. Now let's talk about the story itself.

FL transmigrates shortly after the original was maimed and because she knew the plot, she tried to avoid any pitfalls and get herself a backing while thinking about how to live after the heroine comes back. Because. The original and the heroine were swapped at birth due to the wetnurse of the Shen family. It was said to have been an accident, but it ended up with FL growing up as the neglected di-daughter of the Marquis Yu Residence, while the heroine grew up in the merchant Shen family.

This is the beginning of the novel, so until here there's no spoiler. Nice funfact though: FL knows she's not bloodrelated to the Yu family, the Yu family also knows that FL isn't their child/sister, but ML and the Old Madam keep it a secret from FL. While FL who's supposed to know nothing about this, obediently acts ignorant. Shortly after transmigrating, FL was schemed by her older shu sister to denounce ML for causing her legs to be maimed, but she naturally started praising him instead, which was overheard by him and with this he starts paying attention and spoiling her.

FL notices upon the first meeting, that ML gives her the same feeling as her twin-brother, she also has the same spiritual connection to him, so she clings to him. In her mind, the most important person is ML, followed by ML, third place is ML and after that a very long time nothing followed by her family. ML raises her to become strongwilled and spoiled and taught her, if she was scolded or mistreated by anyone, to just whip them and he would take care of the aftermath. He's doing this because she's unable to walk and wants to give her a layer of protection. Thus, the already temperamental FL turns into a woman feared in the capital. She's not a good tempered person, but as long as one doesn't provoke her, she ignores them. Somehow she resembles a cute little hedgehog. Because she is cute. I really like her :D

The rest of the novel revolves around this pair of siblings growing closer to each other, ML falling for FL, the couple getting together and HE. Inbetween FL has to deal with her shu sister, becoming friends with the 9th princess and getting the goodwill of the Empress, Emperor and Crown Prince, and naturally she also needs to deal with the heroine who finally returns to the family.

Well. That's the story in a nutshell. But I have to give a warning, so please read this carefully.

There's an age difference of 5 years between the main couple. It's not much compared to other ancient china novel, but the important thing is this: At the beginning of the novel, FL is a 10 years old child, while ML is 15. They become siblings who care for each other, with FL being the mainforce, as she's utterly reliant on ML. There's a timeskip of 1 1/2 years during which ML is joining a war.

So FL turns 11 and ML 16, as their relationship grows even closer. Another timeskip of 2 years, turning FL 14 and ML 20. ML falls for FL and their relationship gets ambigious, mainly due to ML's instigation, while FL remains ignorant. Or at least she acts like she's ignorant, as they are still "siblings". But at the same time she indulges ML's actions. From here on, the story picks up as the heroine returns and messes the whole manor up. The two girls turn 15 and become adults (I honestly forgot the name of the ceremony, but it should be known as hair-tying ceremony? erm...) And our main couple gets together.

Most of the novel contains the development of the relationship with FL and ML, the main antagonist is the protagonist of the novel and only shows up towards the end of the novel and from my opinion, this ending/confrontation is way too rushed. Especially since this whole thing with the heroine joining forces with the protagonist and the endfight with our couple only takes place somewhere during the last 20ish chapters and neither ML or FL ever come into direct contract with the protagonist.

All in all this novel is good. There are some points that I don't like, but since I'm only here for the fluff, who cares about that?

Originally I stopped reading at Ch. 112 because
Spoiler

the relationship between FL and ML is being discovered by the heroine who doesn't hesitate to tell it to the old madam and I couldn't bring myself to continue reading, fearing an incoming tragedy with much dogblood, but luckily this is no issue. (If you wanna know what happens, read it yourself, don't be scared like me, just go through with it!)

[collapse]

The novel ends... well, how else could it end? With marriage, naturally. The last 2-3ish chapters seem to be the extras, which take place about 2 years after the ending and shows what happened to our couple and Yu Si Yu. And.. we get to see a side-couple. I won't spoiler this one, but it's honestly so cute!

And in case you're concerned about the matter of the FL's maimed legs...
Spoiler

naturally they'll get healed.

Spoiler

The story starts off with FL and ML in their previous lives being legitimate unquestionable and BIOLOGICAL twin siblings. This is solidified by them both having the same rare blood type and by her being the only one who can donate her heart to save him. The story makes it VERY CLEAR they are related by blood.

Even by this time, their relationship is already kinda ambiguous, and I agree with what another reviewer said: they probably would’ve crossed the line if they both survived longer in their previous life. Cut to the next life, and ML’s soul/reincarnation is FL’s brother (FL transmigrates), but they’re not related by blood (read sypnosis for this). And FL kinda knows that ML’s souls is her twin brother’s but isn’t certain (b/c of their mysterious soul connection that they had between TWINS that has continued into this life). She comes around to treating him like he’s actually her twin brother in her first life (which is accurate considering that’s his soul). Yet this story is basically about FL and ML falling in love despite being literal biological twin siblings. I know that they aren’t biological siblings in their second life, but isn’t that GROSS? FL retains her memories, treats ML and considers him to have the same soul as her biological twin in her previous life, and falls in love with the soul of her twin?!!!!

I think people are defined by their souls, which are the essence of who they are. So for me, this story is about two biological twins falling in love with one another.

[collapse]

I did not come for that, they are not adopted siblings to me, and there needs to be a warning for this so here I am. <<less

FL is so unreasonable, many of her cryings don’t make sense, I also dislike the extremely hostile environment this novel has. All the characters feel insincere. I can’t stand unreasonable family fights in these kinds of novels. Everybody is scheming behind everybody... I hate it.

I believe dropping this as early as chapter 5 will save my time greatly.

so I just finished the novel and I really really love and enjoyed this masterpiece. Honestly My first thought when I see the title "oh the ML must be overbearing and possessive and ruthless" like any other ML in the previous novel I've read which is my favorite and yes! He is exactly that type. But as u kept on reading you'll realize that both main characters are yandere. I'm not good at review so take this as grain of salt in hope to piqued ur interest Into reading cos... more>> I want everyone to read this. Cos this novel easily climb my top list favorite ancient novel so far

The FL- I love her so much! She's definitely my favorite female lead so far. She's ruthless, possessive shameless yet devoted, also the gentlest and compassionate at the same time. Despite her disability she never look down upon herself and even proud of it. She can put everyone in their place even the great monk which everyone worship and respect had to lowered his head in shame with her belief. She will whipped anyone with evil intention towards her beloved especially the ML lol

The ML- aloof, cold and ruthless but also so selfless at the same time. Well he's a general so.. But anw I love him. In fact I don't think he's ruthless enough just the fact that he didn't killed his s*upid mother and sister tells a lot. He pampered the FL and so much my heart was soaking honey but the FL deserve it tho. Cos the FL love him to the point she would walked on sea and fire as the saying goes

You rarely come across where both main lead is so possessive of each other and it's usually the ML but this novel is otherwise and also one of the villain actually had a character development which turned for the better and that's extra point from me 🤌 <<less

Rating for Ch 0-50ish: 4.0 // Rating for Ch 55-136: 2.5 // Overall Rating: 2.1
An interesting start, a draggy midsection and a very rushed ending.

The story revolves about the MC's second chance at life, aiming to achieve great bliss in all aspects of her existence.

The author put effort into making the MC shine bright like a majestic tiger illuminated in the scorching midday sun. Enjoy seeing... more>> her grow up and see her hug her brother's thigh!* <<less

Strong start but only that, it's incredibly boring afterwards. There is no comedy, the drama is weak, the characters are not likeable, the romance is bad, there is nothing engaging in this story. There should be an in*est tag: they were blood siblings in a past life and in this one they are siblings by nurture while steamy interactions occur, and she will always consider him her brother, so beware.

My problem with this story is not that there is in*est (it's fiction!), but that I really hate the extremely sexy,... more>> voluptuous and coquettish but innocent and naive character and this is what the FL is. She exhales s*x and she practically lap dance her brother but she doesn't notice that there is anything abnormal. Just, ugh. So they will have extremely intimate actions and the FL will still be 'naive' and not aware of the s*xual vibe going on. It's just s*upid, I really can't stand it so I dropped.

Other than that, the FL and ML are in sync and are smart, nothing come between them, the villains are dumb dumb, and the translation is very good. That said I can't recommend such a weak story in good faith (it's really boring!) <<less

To be perfectly honest, I'm the kind of person that won't bat an eye at 16/20+ pairing in this kind of novels but people finding this uncomfortable have all the right to. It's BEYOND weird if you translate it to modern times, even if you consider that both of them are minors at the start. When I was 16 I was in my third year of high school, I would have never looked at guys from primary school (fourth grade) and lust over them... but then again, I am a... more>> normal human being and not a pe*vert. So, be aware, the male lead is a pe*vert. That's what you're getting. A pe*vert ML.

Story? mediocre at best.

Don't have much expectations and prepare yourself for the pe*vert ML and you'll be alright I guess. <<less

Truly truly enjoy reading this romantic & heartwarming story. Yu Ping Yan and Yu Xiang are just the cutest couple. I've read it twice.

Love reading the relationship & interaction between Yu Ping Yan and Yu Xiang. Their relationship started as brother & sister (not blood related), and finally, it materialized to love.

Yu Ping Yan is a cold ancient man. He has never fallen in love with any women until Yu Xiang appears in his life. Once he falls in love, he falls in love hard and he has a great... more>> caring & loving personality towards her.
Yu Xiang is a sassy strong independent woman, yet she's immature when interacting with Yu Ping Yan. Their daily interaction and relationship are unique and interesting. Yu Ping Yan & Yu Xiang complement each other well as a loving couple.

Though I hate reading the (not so bad) scheming in this novel, on the other hand, it strengthens the bond and love between Yu Ping Yan & Yu Xiang. <<less

This is a really sweet story of a straightforward, clever girl and a cold blooded marquis who only has a soft spot for his family.

It doesn't only have fluff but alao a intriguing plot and characters.

First of all I really like the idea of giving the reason why FL transmigrated to a novel rather than just the usual thing she read a novel and slept then transmigrated for god knows why.

I really love FL. She can literally shut anyone using her logic. I also love it when she takes out... more>> her whip to beat or threaten people.

Spoiler

So at last FL's elder brother and the ninth princess (also FL's closest friend) falls in love and she says that she will ask her father, The Emperor to ask his hand for marriage. I wanted to see the marriage but it just ended right there.

[collapse]

For me a drawback is that I think the novel's ending is too hasty. The pace was really fast towards the end amd I like fast paced novels but I was just not satiesfied with the ending.

There were still many things which were still unclear even until the end.

Spoiler

So the emperor has lung cancer and so he wants to clear out the court for his eldest son to become the next emperor and he did that.

The doctors had said that he will only survive atmost 1 or 2 years. And his ending was never mentioned. Ninth Princess said she will ask her father emperor for marriage so we can say that the emperor is still alive.

I think he is rather a cool character in this novel so I wanted to know his ending

[collapse]

Spoiler

Rather than a spoiler this is a theory ok.

So before her transmigration we know that, she has a twin brother. Their mother made FL give her heart to the twin brother for their family. The brother however didn't know about thsi until the operation was over. So he made a group of monks to reincarnate her in another world.

After this there was no mention of her brother other then the fact that she will see dreams whenever her brother was in trouble.

ML and FL are not related by blood but it is said that they look the same as in their facial features.

She also sees dreams of ML being in possible dangers everytime and warns him ahead of time.

So they may have a slight connection on this.

[collapse]

I saw people saying the ML is not yandere. Guys ML is not yandere its FL who is yandere and was written by translators in the end of discription of the novel. So stop hating the novel for it. <<less

The FL is cruel and the ML is a true psycho. I have no doubt that this novel is yet another masterpiece by one of my favorite writers. It was a smooth sailing with magical and cute moments, bringing good luck, having green thumb, helping cute babies grow healthy and whatnot, making old madam's gray hair grow black and youthful again, but

after the scene of the extreme cruelty towards a group of female s*aves by these two siblings, both still kids, I lost the desire to continue reading.

You want to sell the s*aves, sell the s*aves. You want to punish them, spank their butts with a board. But the scene of a ten years old girl (with the soul of a modern 25years old wealthy woman) and a sixteen years old (a boy from ancient times) destroying young women's faces with a whip, cutting them into shreds, for half an hour (!!!) non-stop BEFORE punishing them with boards and selling them made me lose interest in these protagonists. I have zero desire to see them grow and love each other.

This was cruelty for the sake of cruelty, a psychotic streak in their personality. One might feel like destroying another person's face, imagining doing so, but doing it for real is another matter. Especially to your subordinates. Especially a modern adult to a young ancient s*ave, a person so deprived of every right. It is sick. After that, who cares that you can grow magical medicinal plants or save lives of the people in power. All lives matter.

[collapse]

I cannot give this story a low rating, just because it describes insanity and cruelty, it is well written and the author knows what's right and what's wrong, she is not an insane person herself. So this time I decided to give a novel no rating at all. <<less

Pretty uncomfortable read. I mean yeah, both of them know they’re not biologically related from the beginning... but... the way they interact before theyre romantically involved and after FL is in puberty is pretty disturbing. It’s a combination of her young age, ML and FL being ‘siblings’, ML lusting after his super young sister, and the inappropriateness of both of their behaviors as siblings. And after they confirm their romantic relationship, the author keeps repeating younger sister/ elder brother with relation to the both of their identities which is kind... more>> of gross. Like they’re a couple now...

Also, the way ML/ FL/ ML’s grandmother constantly let ML’s mother and og FL run amok even though they could’ve just sent them away really doesn’t make sense to me. Just make up an illness, send them to some remote home and keep them there. No one would’ve noticed anyway. I mean ML’s mother was already a 14 year recluse and og FL had just arrived in the capital and no one really knows her. So why not just send them away and save themselves the trouble? No... they just let ML’s mother and og FL cause problems again and again and again. Plus the author also made og FL so crazily delusional and incompetent she’s not even interesting as a villain.

I guess the only plus about the novel is that FL is quite interesting and she’s just as obsessed about ML as ML is about her. She’s also very straightforward and domineering about how much she cares for ML. If not for the fact that ML lusted after her way too early and the weird disturbing in*estuous-ish behavior, I probably would rate this novel a 4 cause it is fairly entertaining. <<less

It started out interesting, and then halfway through it get draggy. Like reeeaaallllyyy draggy. As we all know from the synopsis, the real daughter came back and of course like most typical novels she has to be a villain to offset the MC's heroine-ness. The problem comes when

Spoiler

everyone knows that the real daughter is a super cruel manipulative evil conniving backstabbing bit*h who is willing to ruin her adoptive family, kill her adoptive parents, tried to destroy her adoptive brother, ruined another almost adoptive family, hired people to destroy her blood sister, has been mentioned by the famous monks to be a super bad luck jinx who will destroy MC's family multiple times and yet they continue to let her stay and plot against them. Cos obviously if they had just stuck to their words of "If you create problem one more time we will kick you out" then this story would have ended much earlier.

[collapse]

Honestly, if this story was only around max 100 chapters it would have been perfect but now it's an extra 50-ish chapters of dragging repetitive nonsense which feels like the author is just dragging it on for the sake of earning more money (cue J.K. Rowling who doesn't know when to stop with the HP franchise). Real review for the entire story including the draggy repetitive bits which doesn't make any sense/contribute to the story (as it's basically real daughter plotting, getting thwarted by MC&ML, being warned not to cause trouble or they will kick her out and repeat whole process for 50 chapters) =3.9/5. But if the author had wrapped it up at around 80-90 chapters, then my score would have been a 5/5.

If the author wants to write a 100+ chapter novel, she should take a cue from the author of To Be a Virtuous Wife. That novel is easily over 100+ chapters but it doesn't feel repetitive nor does it make you want to roll your eyes at the obvious attempt of pointless drama for the sake of dragging out the story. <<less
