Lin Wei Xi found out after she died that she was just a cannon fodder in a novel, used as contrast to the gentle and considerate and virtuous female lead.

The male lead was her ex-husband, the dignified heir of Yan Wang, his family were superior and brilliant, but the female lead was not her.

The female lead was her concubine-born younger sister, and her husband’s white moonlight, his cinnabar mole, no wonder! After Lin Wei Xi died, her husband finally married her sister as he wished.

She watched coldly at the two like honey in the oil, in love and harmonious, everyone using the success of her younger sister to contrast the impropriety of the original wife.

Lin Wei Xi sneered, okay, since your love moves the world, then this sister will come back and be your stepmother!

So she married her ex-husband’s father, the father-in-law she never met in the previous life, the country’s God of war, who has not remarried after losing his wife, the one that hold military power, the brilliant Yan Wang.

Later Yan Wang, who was in his prime years and used to act decisively, looked at his small, delicate, much younger wife, and had a headache.

No matter, she is still young, he have to spoil her, indulge her, teach her.

I'm not going to lie, I saw the title and wondered exactly what was happening here. I began reading it just for fun, but I ended up really liking the story. The MC is genuinely likable and doesn't go out seeking revenge- she simply wants to find her place! The ML adores her, and they're an interesting pair. There are no outrageous revenge schemes and all of her oppressors get what they deserve in a natural way. They aren't killed or grievously injured, but the truth is revealed in the... more>> end and the MC and ML have a genuinely wonderful happy ending.

It's cute, and this book has substance! A fun read after a harsh backstory. One of my favorite stories. Give it a shot! <<less

Sweet story. I like how she implements the lessons learned from her last life like deciding not to hide her grievances unlike her last life.

I really love the plot, the characters and the translation. A bit sceptical at first, because of some reviewer's word but I think everything flows just perfectly. No bad points to be pointed out.

it gives an interesting perspective on how would those who have been wronged by some one from another world would feel which honestly never even thought of and I read this genre a lot.

If there was just one part of the story I wish the author had changed
Spoiler

it would be the description of the first night. There was no reason why it needed to be described so unpleasantly and it felt wrong especially given how young the FL truly is.

FL and ML might've previous relationship but their first love should be each other. No compromise!/s/ I'm pretty sure the target audience are mature adults. We can deal previous lovers right?

[collapse]

This is not the best but not the worse either. Typical 2D characters with brain problems to be MC props, comes with daddy/mummy issues. With a sprinkle of misunderstanding here and there to spice things up.

I would give this a 3/5 because this is fairly mediocre but 1 star for author to "try" at least once to make the characters communicate. <<less

...I'm actually glad FL escaped from that ex husband of hers. But pity that the reason he's so muddle headed when it comes to dealing with the womenfolk in the courtyard is due to his parents not personally raising him to be rational. And he grew up sheltered and bamboozled by these people he thinks he has familial bonds with but who are eyeing him like a fat cow ripe for picking in their hearts.

Not to mention that it's the mindset of the eldest male son so I can somewhat understand where his temperament and path of logic are coming from.

For his father to be disappointed with his conduct, that is the responsibility of their parents who are supposed to raise him, no? But they were absent during most of their son's life. These things cannot be taught just by books or by just leaving their children to do whatever. Their son may not have needed for basic necessities like food, shelter, education. But he did grow up neglected and without his parents' proper guidance.

His mother also fed him with idealized stories of her supposed whirlwind romance with his father when it's becoming more apparent that it was most likely not true as he's away in war most of the time anyway and even her son is starting to doubt his mom's stories.

Considering the circumstances, this is just the way it is and that is how it happened, that is why he turned out this way. I honestly feel like he's somewhat pitiful.

I prefer this though, to having the characters be two dimensional with only one or two traits without depth of their character and how they're raised to think this way.

The transmigrator girl, however. Her IQ really dropped quite a lot. I'm a little disappointed that her ability is only up till there. She rested too much on her laurels after thinking she got her prince, got rid of the thorn of a sister who overshadowed her, and got her supposed happily ever after.

For all the "smarts" and advantages she had when she, a modern woman, transmigrated: charming people she met, being well liked by others, adapting into the ancient way of thinking like a fish to water, introducing her games...

But she's not doing anything substantial anymore ever since the FL came in through the door nor is she stirring things up with any of her "modern knowledge" gold finger after she was suppressed a few times by her mother-in-law. Like where did all that go???..

[collapse]

Aside from that, I love how sweet and doting the ML is. Lord I need me a Yan Wang in my life.

The FL carries herself well and has good strategems in managing the house. She also knows her boundaries and makes sure to set them accordingly. She's not too OP nor is she too perfect, she has her own set of insecurities that she carries from her last life too and that's understandable.

Gao Xi, a daughter of a duke and a granddaughter of a princess, was married into a prince family and suffer grievances due to misunderstanding of her husband and scheming of her half sister. After a year of marriage, she passed away and reborn into the body of another girl that she helped before, Lin Wei Xi.

Spoiler

Recently being orphaned due to her father's sacrifice in protecting the prince, a.k.a. The father of her husband in the previous life, Wei Xi inherited her father's wealth and almost being forced to get married. Fortunately, Yan Wang (the prince) came to bury her father's remains and then helped her to get away from her aunt's family. Due to some circumstances, she finally got married to Yan Wang and then returned to the prince mansion and faced her ex-husband and half sister again.

What I like about this story is the FL is quite an independent woman. She's not overly dependent on her husband's power and she strives to establish herself as the mistress of the house through her own capabilities. Yes, she had a little insight about the future, but what she knows wasn't very clear so she didn't rely on her knowledge too much and kinda just go on with her live like normal people. She also didn't use insidious meanings to take revenge on her ex-husband and half-sister. What she did was only taken advantage on the wrong things they did and give little punishments once in a while, but it was never too excessive or life-threatening. She basically just ignore them as long as they did not intend to harm her. I like that she learns to enjoy her new life with her loving husband and slowly regain her self-confidence through Yan Wang's care and understanding.

In contrast to Wei Xi, her half-sister Gao Ran was actually a modern woman who transmigrated into the body of a concubine-born daughter of the duke family. She could've had a happy ending if she wasn't too greedy/conceited, but in the end, since she had always been jealous of Gao Xi and later of Wei Xi, she ended up losing everything she had gained so far and met a tragic end.

I wish I could read more about Yan Wang part and thoughts on the whole story. I also wish that he explained to his son what happened in his first marriage. Thankfully, the author gave us some tidbits on Yan Wang's thoughts in the extra chapter.

[collapse]

Just a heads-up, some readers might find the age gap between the MCs to be uncomfortable (ML was 33 y/o while MC was 16 y/o) but keep in mind that this was set in ancient china, and a 17-year age gap was actually quite acceptable at that time. Besides, both MCs entered the marriage willingly and then treat each other with respect and care (though the husband sometimes indulged the wife's stubborness due to her young age), so I don't think the age gap would be a problem.

Thumbs up for the author and translator, both doing a great job in delivering the story. I look forward to read more stories by this author! <<less

I will give it a four just for the fact that the ML is really the father of the FL's ex-husband. Other than this one problem that irks me, everything is okay.

The title is to be taken seriously. I regret not doing so. I thought it would be the same as "Married to the male lead's father" where the ML is actually not the father of the ex-ML.

To summarize, this story is about the reborn MC marrying the ML and slowly building their relationship intermixed with settling her past life regrets while fending off the transmigrator who is now in conflict with her... for obvious reasons. Thus, it's a mellow mix of one part romance, one part exploration of the characters, and one part face slapping.

This is a well paced, complete piece of work with absolutely no problematic elements. If there's one criticism I have, it's that the first few chapters are a little bit worse off... more>> in translation, and some errors crop up in later chapters. After getting past the first few chapters, everything was pretty smooth reading.

Regarding the whitewashing of the ex-husband... This happens at the very end when we get a look at his perspective of things, and it's a very nice chapter. Overall, this work gives insight into all the characters involved - the MC, the ML, the ex-husband, and the transmigrator. In many places we see the contrast of how the transmigrator and the MC saw each other in the past, each feeling as though the other was suppressing them. This is meant to flesh out each of these characters so that you can understand them even if you might not sympathize with them. The ex-husband is not a good person. He shares a large portion of the blame, there's no question about that. But way before we reach the 'whitewashing' chapter we can see how his ignorance was shaped by the environment around him and how that lead to the premise of the story.

Finally, crystalwing's complaint about the plot point originally put me off trying this story, but I think most people won't find it problematic. It's an inevitable issue to resolve in the relationship, and the story doesn't use it to launch a huge dramatical plot point, really just more of a complication to an existing situation. <<less

I really enjoyed the story but there were parts that confused me but I still read on. I also hit patches where I almost felt like quitting but those parts were minimal. I usually give up stories if I get too bored but this one was pretty good.

I also like the characters even if I felt some of them weren't fully fleshed out as much but the story was shorter then most so it was ok.

This was a good light read. Not too much drama to get you frustrated. I feel like a little more could have been added to give complete closure, but maybe it was done by Author on purpose. MC os npt perfect and have flaws, so although some readers were annoyed, I wasn't because it seems too unrealistic To have an MC that seems too perfect and is "right" all the time. People will always go through temper and tantrums.

The translation is kind of confusing but so far the plot is very interesting. FL has had a sad first life with a Mary Sue concubine sister and an inferiority complex because of this. Can't wait to see how her character evolves in the second life.

I waited for this to be fully translated only to be disappointed. Just the first few chapters are already hard to read. It was like someone machine-translated it and kind of edited it to make it somehow readable. It is quite disappointing. I might read it next time when I'm in the mood to push through this kind of translation. But now? No thanks.

I was just expecting to have a good read but no.

Edit: now I'm pretty convinced that this was machine translated and the "translator" just edited it... more>> heavily to cover up. I mtl something recently and this is actually how it was, just a little better. <<less

Overall, it was nice read. I didn't find any development in MC's character after rebirth so at some point her stubborn and childishness was irritating. Other than that, everything was good.
