I just came back from a few months of not reading and I am honestly shocked at the 3.7 rating!!! How could it be??? How could this lovely piece of pie get this kind of low rating??

Spoiler

I don't understand why other readers are so critical about the settings of the story without really understanding the hows and whys of each story. I saw one low rating talking about how the MC has s*aves and wouldn't release them? Like wtf, you didn't read it until Linel was asked by MC to remove the s*ave seal but Linel refused because he doesn't want to go back being General of some sort and he wants to stay with the MC because he wants to protect him? Same goes with the catgirl with Linel, MC asked them if they wanted to remove the s*ave seals because they've EARNED it and they DECIDED they didn't want to because it was SAFER to be MC's s*ave in name.

[collapse]

I really don't understand why hate on the setting and the logic of the characters. I don't want to hear the "even if we're not affected/influenced by it, we shouldn't condone it" bullshit. If we're gonna talk about morals, MC was already trying to do his best in his own way by trying to be a positive change in the setting of that world. *Cue*

1.
Spoiler

the standardisation of the prices for healing

[collapse]

2.
Spoiler

improving discrimination against healers, semihumans (part animals, part humans) and normal humans

[collapse]

3.
Spoiler

don't even forget the enmity of the church vs the adventurers' guild which the MC helped improve

[collapse]
and those all happened in Like volume 1-4, not sure but that's the very first part of his journey.

Yeah, MC ain't like those harem-seeking studs who are surrounded by women but Luciel shouldn't be disrespected just for that.

It's a slowpaced adventure that almost has no romantic lines at all. Maybe that's the reason why some people hate on this novel, but that's the thing! This Novel is for those people who just wants Adventure with small to no romance at all!! Not every novel has to have romance, some times it is what kills it.

Another note is that this was tagged as shounen when I started first reading it. I dunno if the meaning differed already but when I first started reading, shounen was meant for young boys, adolescents who are mostly middle schools. So before when we say shounen, it's just about adventure and friendship. We talk about stories of how to get stronger and the journey there. Not love stories, because then it will be bad for teens because that's not how they should spend their teens right? Not focusing on love but focusing on developing and maturing. But I guess, it's different now. Now, the tags are everywhere. This was a really long and late review but I just couldn't help it when Luciel was slandered in the other ratings. I don't care if you don't like him because he's a workaholic zombie healer who has no women. <<less

The story starts off good, but it goes downhill. The MC is praised as a saint and is seen as an abnormally good person by the people of the isekai world because he has values from modern times in a medieval setting. So far, so good. I enjoyed the first couple of volumes with the MC trying to make healing magic more accessible for people. The problem is, starting in volume 4 the MC decides to have s*aves just because it's convenient. It's bad enough that he pays for the... more>> s*aves, giving money to a s*aver instead of either avoiding the s*avers, breaking the s*aves out, or killing the s*avers, but once he buys the s*aves he doesn't even set them free. He treats them somewhat decently, but it reads like antebellum Southern s*aveowner apologism. I don't understand who this series is supposed to be for. If you like pragmatic, rebellious, or ruthless protagonists this story is obviously not for you. But if you like the typical goody-two-shoes, paladin-type protagonist, you will also be disappointed. All the characters still treat him like a saint, but it's hard to take that seriously when he owns s*aves. He's from the 21st century and should know better. If we're going to have a Gary Stu-like protagonist who is loved by everyone around him and called a saint, he should at least be as good as the average person in real life, but he's not. There are plenty of stories out there with better protagonists who are not treated like saints just for having basic decency. <<less

My entire review of this novel in a few short words - "I love this story to death!"

Yes, this story in general ends up following the same isekai tropes as found in pretty much most Japanese LNs here on this site. And yes, as I have come across with other novels so far, the protagonist ends up starting his journey by entering a major city with the reason "I have no identity papers due to me coming from a small remote village~". But boy oh boy, ever since he first... more>> meets up with the Paladian Christina at the town's gates does things ever do get so exciting.

For those who don't know and are considering whether or not you should read this novel, this novel for the most part is essentially about a growing-up life story of a protagonist who chose to be a Healer as his main occupation. But although the protagonist has chosen specific skillsets for himself, he does not start out being OP as hell.

What I loved...

  • The interactions between the protagonist and other characters, especially with his friends, mentors and subordinates
  • The vast array of characters and their personalities.
  • Its various story arcs and its progression (Considering I always hated reading dragged-out dungeon moments *cough cough Kumo Desu-ga*, this was a huge factor for me)
What I hated...

  • ....
  • ....
  • ....
What this novel entails or follows..

  • Isekai trope
  • Overpowered characters
  • Protagonist ends up being dragged into a "heroic" destiny against his will
  • The protagonist making some form governmental policies, one way or another.
  • It says it has a harem tag, but honestly in comparisons to "Konjiki no Moji Tsukai", not much harem actively shows.
  • As a fair warning though, there is not much romance in this novel either.
  • Good translation quality
But overall, after having to binge read over 200 chapters of this novel, this novel has quickly become one of my top favourites apart from Haken no Kouki Altina, Release the Witch, and Genjitsushugi Yuusha no Oukoku Saikenki. I've had moments in light novels such as "Dragon Life" and "The Man Picked Up by the Gods" in where there were very annoying pacing issues - specifically having them skip many years without much explanation; so having to read a story where it shows a steady growing-up story of the protagonist from his child days, really brings a soothing touch. What I only worry about at this point is, that the updates aren't as consisent like Haken no Kouki Altina is, so over time I'm deadly afraid of coming to forget some characters over time. But oh well, that's the problem with waiting for consistent updates I guess. <<less

I will tell you several good point of this series :
- There are no Truck-san in this series so it's +1 in my book
- Nice pacing
- Healer job with a Taijutsu skill hence I think that's why the title are "Invincible Saint".
- A worker level-headed adult that get reincarnated, and not some h**ny dog who only think about s*x.

v5c55

This novel starts okay. The MC is a pushover and takes more sh*t from his allies than his adversaries. He has little to no motivations except to avoid death. WOW... living beings avoiding their own death, "original thought process". I think that in order for the whole hero protagonist thing to happen the author forced qualities onto the MC and it comes across very awkwardly. There is no suspense. 55 chapters in and I felt like I was taken on a training montage with very little character development. The only... more>> development is "wow my skills magically increased through hard work, oh and a super op growth drink that no one consumes because it tastes bad". If basically everyone knows that it boosts your growth and skill development, I think there would be many more people with higher level skills not just the MC.

It's not all about levels. why? because it's not. This is hammered into you by the author it feels like a lot armor excuse for the MC to push himself. I don't recommend this story, in fact I think most readers should steer clear of it unless you want an example of poor rhythm and poor plot skills. It is far too open ended and by C55 you'll realize this MC is OP. He just doesn't have enough levels yet he can restore lost limbs on a whim. <<less

it is not worth to read. Really, believe me. MC has zero confidience and dellusional. It is like "Oooh MC, you are sooo dense" but NO. He is not "dense" he is "s*upid" and there are 2 kind of s*upid, (a) funny s*upid and (b) irritating s*upid. And MC is second kind of s*upid. It is not funny, reading the MC doesnt understand anything, side characters are aware of MC's s*upidity but no one tries to correct him. Dialogues like;

-MC says s*upid thing which is common knowledge but he... more>> is dellusional

-side characters says "you are so ignorant LOL"

-and story continues

Damn just teach him why he is wrong and he has to be more confident.

If you want to read this, be aware of very OP MC but constantly says "I'm weak" soo irritating. Whats wrong with japanese novels? Why authors thinks that s*upid boring plain MCs are funny or something?

And MC's teachers. Ooh a teacher which is SS rank super strong but only beats and says "you are weak" when he is clearly strong. As I said, MC is dellusional but side characters are creating these dellusions for MC. He is became strong but his teacher doesnt even care. It is so naive. Characters are 2D too. I can find too many problems about this novel with examples, why I am so frusturated you ask? Because this novel presented like "different from other japanese isekai", "this one is speacial". Come on look at the 5 starts and relatively high rating. I started with high hopes and earlier chapters were good.

Lets became more constructive: MC has zero character development. I expected the dellusional, coward MC learns world and gain confidience and experience with corresponding events. But things happened excatly opposite. Novel is soo game-like. Here is example: MC trains, MC gains skills, MC goes labyrinth, MC sells magic cores and does training. Zero character development, only game-like summaries which make story plain and boring. <<less

The MC is a person that is afraid of dying again in his new life at a young age so desires to become a healer prior to being sent to the new world. When he gets there due to his luck he gets to meet the people needed to assist him in his goal. The story has highs and lows but is basically a story is you work hard and show kindness you will be rewarded. Like any author he indicates in his notes that he struggles in writing. Overall... more>> I find it an enjoyable story and will buy the English translation. <<less

Best part about this story is that all 10 reincarnated souls are mediocre, with the MC's understanding that he isn't special coupled with his Persistence and willingness to work hard allowing him to improve himself over time. Of course the majority of the other 9 think all think they are typical Isekai Protagonists and make a mess of everything (sadly their experiences are only explained in short backstories when they encounter the MC)

Of course when it comes to a novel about someone constantly improving themselves, it''s only a matter... more>> of time before the Main Character becomes Over Powered and the struggle that made the story so great is removed (that or suddenly even more Over Powered characters suddenly appear, though that often ruins the story as well).

As of Chapter 266 this factor along with how the original work is actually written has caused the translator to pretty much give up on translating this (they said they put it on the back burner, but it's almost been a year since the last chapter so...) <<less

Update up to v 9. ITs gets better, much better

Ugh, what can I say. This novel has a pretty good plot, with a good starting idea which gets pretty much ruined.

In this review I will focus mostly on bad thing that annoy me the most:

    1. Despite overall good story there is a lot of moments that feel to abrupt. It's like author write the draft, but totally forgot to fill it up with miscellaneous.
    1. Empty character that totally luck descriptions about them. Its gets to the point that you... more>> don't even know witch gender the person is and how old he\she. For example: the total description about "bear race" is: "they look like small teddy bears, they have puppy eyes, they can transform into big bears, they targeted by s*avers for their cute looks", and that's it, that's the biggest description that we get about any race.
    1. Luck of descriptions about towns. Pretty much the same problems as with characters.
    1. Huge discrepancies in the behaver of the MC. Firstly it started awesomely good. We get a lot of info about MC, we get a good story about how he died, we get good motivation for his choices. And then in situation where coward MC got tons of bodyguards and he needed to venture into dangerous forest what he does? That's right more than 30 mans are hoarding the horses and he gets only 4-5 with himself .
I really wanted for this novel to go into human management rout where he stays safe and most thing are done by his companions

but ofcorse that's not going to happen. Despite all "uniqueness" of this story it the same old typical Japanese MC.

Sorry, that's more like a rant then a legit review, but I just had to write it o/ <<less

Just caught up with this novel yesterday and felt I had to give it a review. Firstly this novel is quite underrated and as of a few days ago, in my top 10 favorite novels.

Pros:

  • Hard-working MC: The hardest working I've ever seen. Hard work is rewarded more than natural talent in this story, which is something I like to see.
  • Well Developed Cast: Not just the main character but a majority of the side characters and a good portion of the villains are well fleshed out over the course of the story.
  • Multidimensional Villains: As stated above, a good portion of the villains are fleshed out as well, and most of them aren't inherently evil. They're not just black and white they're gray, blue and red as well. Not to say that straight 'good vs evil' is bad, but it's refreshing to see villains who have a reason for their villainy.
  • Adequate Worldbuilding: Though at the beginning it appears generic the world is slowly unraveled over the course of the story.
  • Great Translation: During my readthrough I barely ever noticed more than a few major grammatical errors. Mostly only minor spelling errors that even printed books will often have and this is despite (as the translator put it) the author having a terrible sense of flow.
Cons:

  • Plot/Direction: It starts out great and well organized, but as the story goes on it gets more and more convoluted and jumbled. The last few Arcs seem too forced and every time the main character seems to be on the cusp of making a decision on what he wants, some emergency happens and he has to make a sudden change to them, making the plot seem too rushed.
  • The Romance Goes Nowhere:
    Spoiler

There are already two well fleshed out potential love interests (and two other 'yet to be' developed ones.), but dispite his dream of settling down, starting a family and having a peaceful life, he has shown no real interest in any of them besides the fact that two of them were prophesied (by different but involved parties) to have chemistry with him (which I haven't seen any of). Those two are a lot less developed as well.

    [collapse]
I suspect that the cause is that the author doesn't know how to write romance, and doesn't want to be shallow, (considering how well developed the characters are.) So he hoped inspiration, on that front, would strike a few hundred chapters in.
  • Naming Sense: Well it's better than in many of the other books I've read but is still quite lacking.
    Spoiler

A bear-like man named Broad (one of the main cast) and Durahaha (I can't take this name seriously) for example.

    [collapse]
Though he did an adequate job of naming the countries and most of the main cast (but not all).
Conclusion: Anyway, overall it's a good novel, but has its drawbacks as well.

TLDR?: Read the underlined words and conclusion. (Though I feel slightly sad, since it's one of the few novels I've read and felt was worth spending my time to review... since I've joined at least.)

Story

This is a "reincarnated into another world" fantasy. It has many game elements, a status screen, dungeons, and guilds - making it a LitRPG. The main character has to defeat evil god and gradually builds skills by generally hitting people. And defeating monsters on quests and trials, There is nothing new to be had, and while I thought it had some interesting ideas, they were not developed.

Character

The main character is the try-hard, sincere, modest, clueless type who moralises about how his salaryman (sales) skills are useful in this world. Multiple... more>> women are, of course, attracted to his "nice" persona but this is not really developed and this is about as complex as most women got.

Style

Most of translation was competent. There are some funny bits that make fun of the LitRPG/fantasy (but not enough) and it needs to be edited and rewritten as all light/web novels do.

A standard isekai. <<less

I actually enjoy this novel. The world bulding is very very slow, and at first I didnt know what's this abt, I even forgot how'd the MC come here, I forgot how it all started! Coz it's very very very slow.

But I managed to chow down, and finally this has turned into a very enjoyable reading. For me things that is written differently without all the cliches of Jpn isekai is very very welcomed. An MC that doesnt do any improvement or business from his own modern world knowledge to... more>> the isekai but just prowl to survive with his own non existent power (that he thinks of). No romance so far (till vol 5), good for me lol <<less

Let's see

As far the story construction which is good, our MC is very disappointing to the ground become an healer and only defeating monsters using exorcist skill. Too much overwork, not going to adventure instead just visiting places to heal. He just want to have healing instead some overpower skill (what a waste). Love interest is just only in the atmosphere and nothing happens.

The story is quite enjoyable at least. I give it 3 star.

It start out good, then became really good until at this point I lost my motivation to continue reading.

First few chapter sent me screaming about how cute the MC was, an absent minded, timid, cowardly, but kind protagonist, who won't like him? So all of the other character scheme in his back either to protect him or to hurt him, despite him not knowing anything. After getting more status (as in increase of his INT, STR, VIT, etc), he showing more of his leadership qualities (only sometimes though, whereas the... more>> other time still being a scatterbrained protagonist). In which I feel felt different than his initial setup. Will update more after getting more chapter ^^ <<less

First reviewed at v5 c70, rated 4.

Invicible Saint was uniquely Japanese. The MC wa a typical Japanese salaryman; ethical and dedicated to his job, but not necessarily interested to reach a personal ambition. His character growth also went that way; he grew, but stubbornly maintained some of his basic principles. The story was also somehow typical Japanese with the MC had to clear this labyrinth and that labyrinth. Only the romance was so far nonexistent; the only "harem" there consisted of old men and even its bromance level was quite... more>> low, though I don't discount the possibility that there may be some love interest in the future.

If you like Japanese webnovels, especially for reading while relaxing, then this one will suit you very well. No extreme emotional ups-and-downs and gruesome details here, just pure shounen adventure story.

However, its hooks were weak; it means there were next to no scary cliffhanger, but it also means that there were few incentives for readers to be impatient. All in all, it's a good novel for everyone's heart, although not so much for those who prefer more upheaval. <<less

A pretty good story of the genre, it manages to avoid some of the usual traps of the 'reincarnation in a game-like world' genre. The problems in that genre usually is the status and skills being overly present.

The story is less attached to skills piling and the leveling up feels more natural. It doesn't seems like he would be swamped by skills like in stealing skills novels or other novels of the genre

One of the best ive read. MC is a kind person, but not a pushover. Hes a stereotypical healer.

He just wants to survive in a world full of danger, as well as not wanting to relax while he knows people are suffering nearby.

The definition of hard worker and effort beats talent.

... more>> Theres some romance but its very slow. Theres multiple legitimate reasons though why he doesnt show much interest in that most of the time though.

Its a really interesting world lorewise, learning about it with the MC is great.

Powers and skills are gained realistically (for a fantasy world)

Things get explained at a decent pace, theres no dropped event flags or anything.

There is a bit in Volume 9 where he calls himself a loser for

Well MC is strong but his only a healer and just heal people to get strong. I don't get the idea but I know that the MC is just being a s*ave for people to heal them that's what I see through the story. He's a salary man and choose heal and strong luck and a strong taichi body. There is a merchant class that unique and suit for him because his a salary man from modern earth he can still use magic even if he's class is not a... more>> healer and he will be a schemer because merchant read peoples faces to buy or sell items. MC is just feel forced for me. What I like in this novel is the MC don't act like the other souls that think they are a protagonist and because of that he became a saint type MC that you will be annoyed if your not into a "saving enemy mc".

just beware the romance is just a decoration on this novel because there no romance at all ?

Although the story has really gotten a lot worse since the MC started his journey, I still strongly recommend this novel. The MC is a very likable guy and although he becomes ridiculously OP, it doesn't feel forced at all. I also like how the story stays away from romance, as I find it tends to ruin a lot of novels. All in all, a very enjoyable read.
