Office worker Yoshida has been crushing on his boss, Airi Gotou, for five years. Despite finally scoring a date with her, his confession is promptly rejected. Drunk and disappointed, he stumbles home, only to find a high school girl sitting on the side of the road. The girl, needing a place to stay the night, attempts to seduce Yoshida. Despite rejecting her advances, he nevertheless invites her into his apartment.

The next morning, the girl, introducing herself as Sayu Ogiwara, reveals that she has run away from Hokkaido all the way to Tokyo. During her six-month spree, she continually traded s*xual favors for a roof over her head. Yoshida, however, remains unswayed by her seduction. Instead, he has her do a different kind of work — one that entails washing dishes and doing laundry. And so, a touching relationship between a heartbroken adult and a runaway high school girl begins.

Wow, was thinking I was going into the standard Falls-in-Love-on-the-Spot kinda novel, but was pleasantly surprised by the way things are turning out.

Grammar: 4.2/5

Writing: 4.3/5

... more>> Story: 4/5

The grammar is pretty spot on, translation is tight. The writing style is smooth and vivid, easily bringing to mind images of what is happening even without too many descriptions. The story itself is pretty decent thus far, though I can't really judge it with only 3 chapters and a prologue, so I'll have to wait for more chapters before I can make a proper judgment on this.

Overall, really enjoying this story. Looking forward to more translated chapters of this novel :D <<less

This was surprisingly good. Great in fact. The daily lives of our protagonist revolving around his home and office (so far!) is a bit comedic and sometimes filled with thought on how we as adult and society has failed on certain issues. Would love to get more of this and boy oh boy the manga came just in time.

p/s: translation accuracy aside as I'm not well versed to comment on that, the english was really really solid. Huge thanks to the translator and editors ?

The Entire Premise is really interesting. The ML aint your ordinary guy that simps on the FML and then cucks out when sh*t gets real. He basically tries to help the FML recover from the traumas, He tries to show the FML that what she did aint her fault and helps her come into terms with it while slowly falling inlove with each other. Its really bittersweet.

In the end the novel really gives you a bittersweet feeling. Its has a admirable MC with a Great Casts with theirbown unique personality.... more>> Looking forward for the next update. <<less

Uhh, first of all, the premise and title is somewhat creepy. Second, this novel is so bittersweet, but more on the bitter side, like in the deep one. The writing is consistent with great execution. The plot is very disturbing and depression-inducing. If you're asking if I enjoyed this, well, yes, but at the same time I cannot say so. I'm depressed, and I want to protect the FL. Uhh, the characters are written nicely, with the exception of cannon fodders. The antagonists are freaking creepy and disturbing to the... more>> point I wanna kill them all, especially the FL's family. I just watched Joker (2019), and watching the movie gave me bloodlust, this novel just amplified my bloodlust a million times. The protagonist basically helps our FL recover from her past trauma as they slowly fall in love with each other, our protagonist has an admirable personality (I find him moronic though). If I was in his place I wouldn't bother to do that to a stranger out of kindness, I'm not into troubles. Well, no matter how much the characters irritated me, there'll always be people out there like that (in novels too), and I like it, it makes me feel alive, having them get destroyed and humiliated. 5/5 score. <<less

I won't say much, all I want to say is that this is a masterpiece of its genre! Moreover, I just love how the author was able to utilize subtext so perfectly in volume 2 chapter 5! Anyways, waiting for more! P.s. Tsk DeadOpossum, if your childish mind can't take this theme, just f*ck off, don't bother rating. Seriously, when you rate a realistic novel because you can't stomach some harsh reality? And it's not even portrayed that much (the female MC sleeping with other dudes in the past), rather... more>> it is there so that we would feel it more realistic, not some sweet, fluffy fantasy where the fMC was able to hop in from house to house without having to pay the price. Do you really think the world is such a fluffy place? Lol. I said It won't be long, but here I am, spouting so much words. Anyway, don't listen to that fellow! <<less

A very light-hearted novel. I wanted to pass some time and thought this would be a very annoying low-quality JP novel, boy I was wrong.

The everyday fluffiness of our MC is very fun to read, the way he treats others are very fun to read. Everything in this novel is very fun to read for some reason.

Just read it.

It's been a while since I restarted reading novels and stumbling onto this, gave me a unique vibe when I read it. So far, the plot has been congruent and I liked the interactions between the characters, and would hope to see more on how they will develop. This novel is my cup of tea, and those who are interested to read it at this moment, I encourage you to read it.

Masterpiece of a LN.

Translator couldn't have put it better: "I remember seeing this book... and thinking ‘what in the world has this world come to’, before being mildly surprised by a rather wholesome story with heavy themes instead."

If I'm looking for fluffy-sweet stories, this is what I prefer: not something just mindlessly fluffy-sweet, but with a bit of bitterness attached, or just something that makes you think. This one is on the heavier end, like a darker chocolate, which might not be to your taste if you're just looking for... more>> sweetness, but it won't over-saturate you.

It's a character-driven story, and their interactions I find very interesting and fairly realistic. Quite immersive. Makes you stop to think. <<less

I put off Higehiro for the longest time because let's be honest, that title is really something. There's something wrong with "I shaved, then I took in a high schooler" that, somehow, is morally worse than s*upid titles like "World Domination With My Harem" or some such

Which, ironically, is a great glimpse of what's coming

Higehiro has all the standard start: dejected hero meets a cute, slender, high schooler with big b**bs, is a good cook, great at housechores, likes to save money, and faithfully stays at home to boot! Oh,... more>> also, there are 2 amazingly beautiful women secretly pining for the hero!

Yes, this has all the makings of a generic rom com. Yet it's anything but

Higehiro is a tale about mental stability, the tumultuous nature of a teenager's heart. Young enough they can't make mature decisions, old enough society says they should've known better, and definitely old enough to suffer the dire consequences. The heroine struggles with her precarious position, time and again not knowing what to do. Is this alright? Is this the right thing to do? The correct answer is hard to come by, and is there even a correct answer in the first place?

It tugs your heartstrings, with the peaceful comedy inbetween further amplifying the high impact of dramas.

Do give this a try, the good stuff starts very early <<less

I give it a 8/10

honestly I don't mind that fact that she's lost her V card or used her body etc.

What I mind is that, she was forced to use it as bargaining chip. And most likely we are being mislead to think she actually did it etc. Of course that's my theory, I am lead to think that she pleasured men via other ways that did not involve going all the way.

But hey my morality is not exactly spot on, I'm flawed too having had multiple one night stands... more>> and some toxic relationships.

But I hate to think that a girl would sell her virtue. <<less

I surprisingly liked this novel. Very surprising as I thought this would be a FL/ML nove focused on romance adding onto harem. So I am honestly surprised. Even more surprised this is not a R18 novel as no scenes have happened. Some things to note is that this novel also brings up somewhat sensitive topic and reality, so some may want to avoid this. Although I loved this book during V1 the story started going downhill in V2 onward chapters due to harem and the male personalities in this novel,... more>> at least ones introduced so far. <<less

Really cute. It's definitely got a weird title and the conceit itself is pretty strange, but it works out very well. It's definitely much more structured than the manga and goes into more detail. The illustrations by booota are absolutely wonderful, and I'll point out that if you're a fan she's seemingly a co-author of the manga.

Not much to say, honestly. If you're kinda spooked by the title then just be aware that it's intentionally misleading and give it a whirl. Like I said, it's really cute.

Higehiro, a story about a high school girl and a middle aged man living together under the same roof.

First of all, thanks to the author for bringing up this incredible novel with the definitely risque genre it has.

Second, thanks to the TL teams that are working on this novel!

... more>> This novel is definitely bitter-sweet so if you are looking for a pure sweet sugar novel this is definitely not for you but hey! If you are interested in trying something new I would definitely recommend this.

A story that explores the life of both FMC and MMC with amazing details but not so verbose it's at the level of details that makes you easily able to visualize the situation of the story using your imagination making the story a lot more engaging and enjoyable.

Character development is solid from unsure to sure even though there will always be a slight doubt in each of them.

Overall I enjoyed it and best of luck to Sayu, she deserves every ounce of happiness that exist in the story. <<less

Very loving this. Wholesome, but I am so anxious for ending. Rooting for Sayu, really good waifu material. That aside, this novel might throw you for a loop if you only read the title and synopsis, it isn't just your usual ecchi fan-service novel, there's actually some character development (probably) so give it a try
