Uh, pretty good as a novel in my first month of novel reading. The face-slapping was good for me and helped me get into novels better. But, all good things must come to an end, and face-slapping has lost its satisfaction for me. I liked the story plot, and I don’t understand why people are so triggered about the nationalism and stuff. For me, the nationalism was alright. I just dealt with it as it came and I don’t really understand why its so unbearable for some people. Sure, its... more>> a drag but I just muddle through as I always do and suddenly, I get to the other side. After chapter 680 or so, the nationalism basically wears off, and a brand new arc starts. I’m beginning to see the harem genre start to shine around chapter 705 or so so if you don’t wanna see that, then you should stop early. I never skipped chapters, and that’s probably because of who I am. The novel has some good parts, bad parts, but I always walked through them, and I thought that it was pretty good. Then again, it could just be my brain filtering out all the unnecessary information and only passing me the fun stuff.

Overall, if you want a good novel, don’t read this. I only read it because all the novels I was reading weren’t updating. The face-slapping can be fun, but sometimes, you really have to wonder why the MC does what he does. The system becomes basically non-existent other than to get a quick power up to face some kind of enemy, and although the narration states he tries not to use it because reasons I forgot, he still only uses it about 5 times throughout 700 chapters. Nationalism isn’t a glaring flaw for someone like me, who doesn’t really care unless things get really uncomfortable. Basically, don’t read it, but if you’re willing to accept it’s flaws and treat it as a meaningless face-slapper, sure. <<less

Okay, so I actually really like the premise, having read superstar, valiant life, etc, I love the modern era cheat/ability/system novels.

I read a lot of this, but after chapter 400 it was straight downhill. The nationalism is there but it gets more and more as the story goes on to the point it's a sad joke; the author writes American Navy SEALs saying things like 'What a great country with thousands of years of history and spectacular martial arts' etc and at one point even criticizes an american citizen for... more>> being brainwashed regarding the iraq war (pot calling the kettle black, I literally rolled my eyes, multiple times in that single chapter)

I dropped this at chapter 586 because
Spoiler

the MC has come across tens of women who were great partners and has a mutual love with literally the perfect woman (Ji Siying) who has met his family and told all his relatives that she's his girlfriend, yet the author strong-armed the MC into marriage with an absolute frosty bit*h who is constantly actinse tsundere (which is gross btw, I can't f*cking stand hypocrite characters who share a mutual attracton with someone but push it away because of their own ego or pride) so eventually in chapter 584ish the MC literally gets pushed to the brink and complains (FINALLY after 150 chapters) about how she's always being a bit*h for no reason to the point he literally says that if she doesn't give up the attitude, he's going to kill her, after which they have s*x in a conference room and there's a great change in her character, she's out and out more womanly and open, telling her best friend (who she has constantly badmouthed the MC to as an ambitionless bum) that she loves him and is willing to stay by his side as a good wife to look after his children-- BUT literally that same evening, he goes to her house and she's straight back to being a bit*h when he asks her why she's being cold and she says “I’ve always been like that. You can leave if you don’t like it, ” - like f*cking really? That was it for me, I was pushing myself to read after chapter 520ish (I got past the nationalist anti-american bullsh*t because there was constant action and bad assery) and in chapter 586 he hugs literally the perfect woman (Ji Siying) then Su Li is back to being a c*nt. Author ruined the romantic/harem aspects- EVERY WOMAN HE'S INTERACTED WITH (besides Chai Zhiying (Su Li's agent?), Mina (the SEAL) and Zheng Mi (the girl who cheats on him at the start of the story and eventually becomes a literal hooker because she regrets cheating on MC once he gets the system.)

This in line with the synopsis, and truly interesting. I really want to give it 5 stars, but the translation is a bit lacking.

For the most part, it is readable, but it feels like mtl at times. This is especially so with character names appearing translated rather than their pingyin version. There are also times where words (mainly curse words) are translated literally rather than using their western equivalent. If I did not have basic understanding of the Chinese language, and common knowledge of Chinese slang, etc, I would be... more>> very confused.

And as others have mentioned, the translator enjoys leaving personal comments wherever they like. This is distracting, but not too bad, as many translators do this in Japanese novels. So, I am mostly able to read selectively.

Grammar is also weird in places. Tense is also poorly used. Most noticable is the misuse of present tense where it should be past tense.

It really needs an editor's touch. <<less

What is rather 'new' in the novel is that the MC doesn't transmigrate but just revive in the same body, due to having only read 3 Chapters, I can't say a lot about the novel but the translation is pretty annoying to read due to the Translator putting notes every 2 Lines, I think that there was more words of the Translator than actual Novel

7/10 It was alright until the plot turned to full fantasy.

This novel is at its best when the plotline follows the romance and double life of the protagonist. The way these two elements worked together produced great emotional moments.

Eg.
Spoiler

When the MC and female lead had their first heart to heart call in the middle of a warzone

[collapse]

A big factor I would see drawing readers away from the novel is the personality of the main character. His negatives being that he waits 2 or 3 chapters for the enemies to spout their bullsh*t before face slapping them. And also the fact that he has a rather stubborn and hard-headed approach to his romantic relationships.

(Regarding nationalism and racism)
The biggest problems in terms of racism in the story are the plotlines in which another country 'targets' the Chinese people. These are quite over the top in how it depicts people in other countries being racists and inhumane. Obviously there are all kinds of people all over the world that are similarly caring and accepting and it's best to disassociate this fictional world from the real one. How you choose to view the author or the work is your own choice and not my business to argue.

Overall, I would read this if it was already a genre you liked. There's plenty of moments to like aswell as plenty of moment to dislike. If you are reading this then its probably best you drop this when the plotline gets to the point of 'another world' because it really doesn't get better from there.

Decent start, but abandons premise leading to gratuitous violence, nationalism, and r*pe.

Started as an interesting system-type, weak-to-strong contemporary Earth novel. A mysterious multidimensional system pretty gives the protagonist the ability to earn points by stimulating strong emotions in others, and spending those points to effortlessly learn any skill he wants, on top of purchasing a King of Mercenaries uber-perfect physiology (even though the protagonist continues to look like a twiggy Chinese guy in his early 2os). Martial arts, various scientific skills, driving, shooting, business, languages, etc.... you get the... more>> gist.

The story fails on a couple points, as it essentially abandons the "Genius System" except for incidental use somewhere around chapter 300-400 where...

Spoiler

... the protagonist learns that he can easily earn points by being an internet troll/celebrity. Thereafter, he purchases a single wuxia cultivation technique for a few hundred thousand points and basically ignores the system, even though he ultimately is sitting on MILLIONS of points that could be used to do who knows what (author never really reveals his options, only his choices)

[collapse]

Another major failing of the story is the blatant racism and nationalism.

Spoiler

White people, black people, and arab people are all terrorists and back-stabbers. They are characterized as "looking down on" Chinese people. SEALs are called out explicitly (even through the author renames the country) and Japanese people are pretty much drug through the dirt as Hirohito-worshiping criminals and terrorists. Western medicine is portrayed as innefective short-term symptom treatment, compared to acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine (where bloodletting and expelling negative qui by poking needles into the brain is very healthy) can cure various maladies including cancer. So... pretty typical for a Chinese webnovel set on contemporary Earth.

[collapse]

Also, over the course of the novel, the protagonist seems to lose control of himself, becoming more and more violent. His loss of restraint ultimately leads him to periodically go beerzerk and kill everyone, rather than arrest or simply avoid conflicts. He even goes on to r*pe his wife (don't worry, she's thankful later... of course) around Ch 584.

Honestly, I'm leaving this review because I logged in to see if the story had a decent ending because I'm losing interest. The story, as noted, went off track and stopped being fun around Chapter 300ish. <<less

To be honest the system shouldn't even be called Peerless Genius System/Genius System without Equal. This novel spits on it. What the system gives to the MC are more killing inclined and when it gives skills that could be called Genius the novel makes it a McGuffin to some faceslapping arc for example (this isn't spoiler but a likely story that will happen)

-The MC after the completion of last arc by killing all the enemies by using his Esoteric Dragon Fisting technique hears a *ping* you got the Ultimate... more>> Calligraphy Skill, then the story proceeds to some Oldies who are in the right place and at the right time blocks the MC then says "You don't know sh*t about Calligraphy", then MC proceeds to sulk in his mind saying "You don't know me!! How dare you be arrogant" then he draws Good Chef's Kiss Calligraphy but the Oldies sees him draw then they say "You Dare!!! You wasting our high quality Ink and paper stuffs!!" then MC finishes calligraphy then oldies sees MC calligraphy they say "OMG!!!! We didn't see Mt. Tai sorrt teehee ;P but wait, did I forget that in the sea of oldies one oldy brought her daughter/granddaughterniece who is acquainted with MC but treats him lukewarm because the MC is so secretive that he doesn't share his skills and he gets mad because of his trauma on his first gf who cucked him and also he expects the people to know all the people to know he's a genius without him showing anything remarkable. That Daughter/Granddaughterniece will then be smashed in the brain by the system secretively and her IQ will decrease to -9999 and fall in love to the MC but the MC is holier than thou man who expects her woman adheres to the Chauvinistic Machismo doctrine so he strings her along with the rest of his prospective harem unless he forcefully R*ped the woman or they consummate their love to each other.

And that is almost 100+ chapter arc of the story compressed. All in all, I don't recommend this to you because there are better Urban System novels out there you just have to scour it more thoroughly. Finally, I read this so you won't have to read this sh*t because all you readers deserve better. <<less

I'm giving 2 stars just because there are not many 'annoying young masters' in this novel and MC is not a skirt chaser.

After a few hundred chapters, the author decides to spread their 'nationalism'. I'm fine with a few lines of nationalism, but there is nothing worth reading when the whole chapter becomes propaganda.

This is really tr*sh. The system is overpowered with a weird point system and the plot is immature and overdone. the MC isn’t even particularly likeable.

for example in the first few chapters, we see the typical my girlfriend left me for a wealthier guy plot... and he beats up the guy with his overpowered cheat, the ex-gg is feeling ‘regret’ and thinking about how nice he was to her (urgh), the rich guy is a playboy that will leave her.

This novel was mistitled it should have been written as "Peerless mu*derer System". It is a story about a soulless engineer who suddenly receives a system after the son of his company's owner steals his girlfriend. He goes from a boring guy who just meekly lets things happen in his life (for instance his girl being taken, being mistreated by his friends and family, etc) to a man who kills or maims anyone that crosses his bottom line, which includes anyone he disagrees with such as family, former friends, former... more>> lovers, coworkers, police officers, gangsters, government officials, the military, anyone from a country that isn't China, etc.

By the time you read to chapter 531, where I am at in the story, he has killed or injured well over a thousand people. To put that in perspective Jack the Ripper one of history's most notorious serial killers only killed 5 women. Let that sink in a bit...

The main character is able to master all skills such as computer hacking, dancing, musical instruments, calligraphy, operating any vehicle, mastering any sport including martial arts thanks to his system which has granted him an endless pool of points to spend thanks to his being able to post snappy comebacks on social media (not a joke) and maim or mu*der people that slightly annoy him.

The biggest issue with this novel is how this soulless mu*der machine separates friends from enemies and lovers from women it's ok for him to brutalize. The male and female characters marked as a friend are characters who provide the soulless mu*der machine with tangible benefits for no expectation of quid pro quo. The female characters marked as lovers are all virg*nal women willing to pine for the mu*der machine but not force him to express anything like affection or have expectations of intimacy. Males and females unwilling to do these things cross the mu*der machine's bottom line which leads to their doom.

To sum it up, this novel sucks. <<less

For a good review read the ones that are there, I'm just here to offer a few tips if you want to read this thing without freaking out about how annoying the side characters can come to be at some point if not in all chapters in general.

1- There are parts where you just need to watch but not read, like seeing the words but not quite read it since is so s*upid that you will just want to drop it faster the more you read (believe me, there are... more>> a lot of those).

2- You have to forget your common sense at the start of every chapter (at least they are short...) Since the author just decided to add sh*t just because yes and chapters (the whole thing, not just a part) about things or people that are meaningless for the main story. (Such as a stewardess falling in love with the MC just to notice he is rich, has a big pen*s and all that sh*t that put her in awe and distances from him... there it ends)

3- concerning part 1, there are big chunks of a chapter that are just side characters just bullshitting nonsense through almost the whole thing or just doing shit, if you can't even withstand just watching it (as I explained in 1) just skip it. Believe me, it is not that different than if you read the whole thing. Is literally just nonsense of how a bunch of side characters (all of them and quite frequently. so this will happen quite a few times) underestimate or just depreciate the MC, and throw unneeded opinions here and there about how 's*upid' the actions of the MC are and how he will fail just so that he ends doing it and everyone just idolaters him.

I really like the "I own a system" concept, but the novels that I have found with that concept almost always is shitty written and have a MC that is a f*cking p*ssy or is an idiot, or side characters that just depends on the MC to do something and for the whole story is just there so the MC has something to do. I really don't know if it's hard to write a good story with this concept or not but all in all, I haven't enjoyed the most of the novels out there even though I see a lot of unused or wasted potential in a lot of them. What a shame... <<less

A very simple novel where the MC decides to beat everyone he doesn't like, kill all those who offend him, and disregards everyone around him after getting a system.

There may be some discrepancies between my understanding and the actual story since I read several hundred chapters on google translate, but the system seems to only really be relevant during the first bit of the novel.

Spoiler

Halfway through the story, the number of times he's used more than 1000 points can be counted on one hand, despite having several million points saved up.

EDIT: So after finishing the novel, turns out the author made a reason for the lack of system presence in the end. It's actually a beacon for alien invaders so the MC felt uncomfortable using suspicious technology (despite not knowing what it really was).

[collapse]

Planning to finish the last 100 or so chapters since I'm close to the end, but I'm not expecting anything amazing to happen anymore, just too invested into it to drop right before the end.

EDIT:

Spoiler

Ending was a bit dumb. A clan almost kills MC by destroying a teleportation thing, causing him and his companions to be hurt by a space storm of sorts, and this whole thing isn't even resolved in the end. Literally just states, "oh before we happily settle down, I need to go kill some people who messed with me." and then the novel's over. The ending just seemed so lazy I'm kind of annoyed by it right now.

Entertaining. The characters are cliche and the story follows all those lovely cliches. I personally love this cringy sh*t where the MC shits on other people in the most ret*rded ways after they cross him, frankly this novel is extremely entertaining. Sometimes the author decides to add in a chapter that is completely meaningless, but I guarantee its gonna be entertaining. My favourite thing is to laugh with novels like this.

Would recommend for some top quality entertainment, don't expect an original storyline.

A fairly standard god-system novel, has pretty much all the tropes in. Most of the story is split into arcs and it stays relatively grounded and entertaining until the final arc. Every arc attempts to elevate the stakes and increase the fighting action from street punks all the way upto elite military and beyond. Almost every chinese novel uses nationalism and racism as pillars to create moments of fighting and this one is no exception. The romance is difficult to criticize as a bit awkward because the first two story... more>> arcs featuring girls he falls in love with

because of this one could argue the MC keeps a lot of his emotions and thoughts to himself to avoid further pain almost to a fault.

I felt like the novel was a bit rushed and had a very average ending. The final arc feels rushed as there wasn't really a lot of foreshadowing for the events in the first 600+ chapters. They had to go a bit crazy to resolve the initial mysteries of the god-system. The romance also doesn't develop nicely and is very rushed at the end.
Spoiler

To raise the stakes the author introduced foreign worlds and suddenly the main heroine is a ruler of a kingdom whose memories were locked away. Xiao luo also has foreign powers that he unlocks and has to tear through the void of the universe in order to catch up to her. Oh and when you think it's all resolved suddenly aliens have nuked Earth and they have to go back and save it and the alienv2 leader is a real jerk who lusts for Su Li of course. Xiaoluo obviously wins and then proceeds to marry all his favorite babes at once despite never actually saying to them that he loves them in any of the previous 800+ chapters.

Don't let the bad reviews get into your head. For me, it's a great entertainment novel. It has everything one can expect. Romance, Ruthless yet intelligent MC, good comebacks, face slapping moments, good action moments, somethings are cliched but still feel fresh. Translations are bad cause they are MLT but as the novel goes on it generally improves.

4 stars, being somewhat generous.

The story up until the last arc was pretty enjoyable. You get the MC with his mysterious double life, face slapping people every 10 seconds. He's OP as f*ck with his cheat system, and becomes more decisive and brutal as he grows. IMO the system takes a bit of back seat since he basically just passively gets points and then redeems them when he needs something. Not much interaction at all between him and system. Many can get turned off from all the classic Chinese nationalism,... more>> esp. Against Japan and US.

The last arc when we start bringing in the aliens and other worlds and stuff is when things start going to shit. Author basically brings in these worlds to take the MC down multiple pegs and make him a weakling. There's no traversing between worlds and then suddenly the scary Master of Chaos decides to go for a trip and leaves a useless duck behind? The Master of Chaos never even showed up in the story. Plus we're told that the Elder Long was almost a match for the strongest Light World King but then when the MC powers up and 3 Elder Long strength people have to combine to take him down, he's still a punching bag in front of the 2 stronger Kings. Make it make sense. PLUS, the author just has to make it so that the MC is slapped around until he's almost at death before slowly giving him like 3 different transformations. Please. I can kinda understand the addition of some sort of alien danger bc the MC was already at the top of Earth, but the execution was terrible. <<less

There's soo many potential hidden in this story, and that alone give it 4 star, I want to give it 3.5 but, okay I'll be generous for su xiaobei. Heck the lil daughter is the best character. Loli for the wurllldddd... No touch!

Okay, let's back to the topic. As we sail throughout the story there's plenty of bullsh*t That's amusingly awesome and cool for a modern themed story, the author didn't really make the MC dependent on the system. He kinda just used it for the major plot but not... more>> too much since he mostly just do things needed on the ocassion and didn't make himself an OP character right from the start, since you'd know how easy he'd get the point to actually be omnipotent.

I mean, heck... Out of all the system novel I read, this one is just too cheap... It's I'm really a super star-like system but the MC didn't go to the famous person path but a hidden bosses path.

Sadly! As I say, this story is filled with BS, that's amusingly smart in their way of use and you can just skim some part and read the finishing but you can still know how the story went... The joke and conversation is good as the character fleshed out...

Spoiler

the author just didn't stop bullshitting and make his wife ho to cultivation world... He can just make the progress alone and create his own base world on Par with the other world... And heck, he just needed to make more point and be a peerless genius by using the system wisely... What can go wrong? The system had their own healing system after all...

[collapse]

Anyway, tldr;

It's worth to read until chapter 750, and you can just though the MC is living happily ever after with his family and friend after that chapter, and you'd get a great story to read. The last 100 is just too dissapointing... <<less
