The Script is Not Like This!

Description

Links are NOT allowed. Format your description nicely so people can easily read them. Please use proper spacing and paragraphs.

This novel can be summarized in three sentences:

Scum top abuses tr*sh bottom.

tr*sh bottom loses his heart completely and leaves scum top.

All of a sudden, the scum top comes to his senses: Oh, I’ll look for the next one then, bye.

Hold on — Where’s the agreed abuse for the scum top? What happened to the promised transformation of scum top into a loyal dog? This isn’t how the script is supposed to be!

I almost didn’t pick this up because of the negative reviews but it’s such a good, fun story. I don’t know why some ... more>>
Spoiler

people said MC was taking things out on the bottom or something. He literally never does that. And when the script is raping him/forcing him to have s*x or a romantic relationship under the threat of death, they felt bad for the bottom instead even though it’s clear pretty early on how suspicious he is. Also the MC isn’t scum for not loving someone he’s forced to be with and the whole “satire is only funny when... ” review was so off base I wondered if we were reading the same story lol. Honestly it’s perfect as is and I love the relationship between MCand the true main love interest. Both are so fun, real, and interesting and I super respect them for not giving in to threats and coercion.

Anyways, it’s a fun story. <<less

I was scrolling through all these 5-star reviews wondering if anybody was thinking the same as me when I saw one 4-star review that said exactly what I thought:

I found the MC extremely unlikable.

He's very mean-spirited, haughty and has no good qualities going for him except the extreme good looks rewarded to every scum gong on default. You know what this sounds like? Yeah damn right the MC acts like ANOTHER scum gong, and the author doesn't seem to be aware of it.

Now I understand that this story is meant... more>> to be satire, but satire works when the ones who are supposed to be criticized ALL get their share. If one character stereotype gets ridiculed, while another character stereotype that's just as absurd doesn't, it just makes me think that the author of the satire is biased, you know? Only the tr*sh shou gets terribly sh*t on the entire time, while the one who's supposed to be the author's mouthpiece forgets to roast the scum gong most of the time. Probably because he is acting their role, despite his reluctance. But instead of being self-aware to make up for it at least, he just keeps being absolutely nasty with the excuse of "I know the plot and I think their actions are ridiculous so I'm gonna make it a point to look down on them and feel good about myself." The MC is so condescending, I can't get myself to like him the way I can't make myself like bullies.

I'll confess that I haven't read that far enough to pass accurate judgment, but the first few chapters left a bitter impression on me. I have the distinct feeling that the author doesn't realize that they are glorifying victim-blaming. Yes, the shou's act pitiful and annoying, but the way the author writes it just spins it into "It's your fault for falling for a bad guy whom you know does bad things, IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT." Dude, what? I know some Chinese webnovels tend to write the shou's the same way they'd write a woman, just with a pen*s attached. So is it wrong of me to think that the author only blames s*upid women who do annoying things (like expecting everything to be done their way or to become the special one, etc.) and just ACCEPTS that the scum gongs--the men--will always be like that? And they don't really need roasting because they aren't going to change so let's just only fix the women? Because that's the textbook definition of patriarchal thinking to me.

TLDR; Satire works when the characters who are supposed to be mocked are mocked, but in this case, there is just one character who acts as ridiculous as the rest but isn't roasted, so I think this is why it failed to convince me, because this satire is hypocritical, it deserves another satire written just to mock it for being so self-UNaware. <<less

Okay, I've only read chapter 1 and gave this 5 stars. Why?

One, it's well written. You can feel the sarcasm through the words. The narrator/author sounds so fed up with the scum top/tr*sh bottom genre (similarly for the boy-girl novels - the abusive CEO and poor victim do-M female lead). Much like the author, I'm also fed up with such novels. Their unreasonableness gets on my nerves and I derive no enjoyment from them, merely wondering what's their merit and why they keep getting written.

Two, the main character seems to... more>> be my type - cynical, has enough self-love, reasonable. I'm looking forward to what other traits I'll see from him in the future chapters. The author said there's a pairing, so I'm also looking forward to the male lead and his character. Having a cool-headed MC thrown into an unreasonable setting makes me anticipate how the plot will develop and the MC's quips.

Three, the author promised smut? Sign me right up. It's a nice little bonus to an already intriguing novel.

Four, the premise, the writing, and the pace managed to hook me in with only one chapter, which is always a great sign to me. Anyway, BL lovers, give this a try. I'm off to MTL it now. <<less

This story is really good and well written. The way it breaks the cliche stereotype, the sarcasm, the jokes. I found myself laughing out loud reading these and I can't stop. Both MC and ML are really good actors :v They are so cute and funny together. KFC and McD's (ノ≧∀≦) ノ pfft. Well, even though it's good, the ending feels anticlimatic for me. But I really recommended this one. My cheeks hurt from laughing (*´・v・)

This is really more of a satire/crack story than it is a romance story. You read it for the laughs, and there is a lot of laugh points, not for the BL (there's no real *actual* romance in it).

The POV character is a gong/top, but he spends the much of the story avoiding getting with the official shou character. The guy he ends up with doesn't show up immediately, but it's easy enough to figure out who he is soon enough. (The only other sane man in these worlds...)

The... more>> only flaw I can think of in this story is the ending. A bit too abrupt, and doesn't really conclude the various loose ends I and other readers might be wondering through the story. Still, at least it does conclude, rather than drag on until the humor isn't funny anymore. So I'll give it that. <<less

5 stars! Love this. I was dying 'cause of the pathetic, abused Bottoms, so this is a life-saver. I've already read this three times now.

Satirical novels! That's rare. The author is obviously very good at what they do.

Originally I wasn't planning on writing a review, since I'm lazy, but I immediately changed my mind after going through a review that said they sympathize with the tr*sh Shou instead of the two Main Characters.

... more>> To the person who wrote that review, I really hope you read this----

So are you saying you sympathize with the manipulative, fake, fragile, dependent, selfish, s*upid and scum Shou who loves being violated, fought for and has Prince Syndrome here??!

You're also all that!??

I tell you you're f*cked up if you do, you really need serious therapy🤦🏻‍♀️

And someone also said that we're supporting bullies by liking this novel.

Like what now?????

Huh????

Are we reading the same novel here?????????

Could someone please kindly tell me at what part did the main characters bully the perpetrator/tr*sh Shou here??????????????????????????????????????????????????????

And someone said that it isn't the tr*sh Shous' fault for falling in love with Scum Tops???????????????????????????????????

Huh????

You seriously think that's still love?????????

You fall in love with someone who kidnaps you, r*pes you, r*pes one of your friends, locks you up, coerces you and all that shit?????????????????????????????????????????

Isn't that a case of Stockholm Syndrome????????

You think there's love between the abuser and the abused????????????????????????????????

You guys talking about masochists???

bit*h I tell you if there's no respect in a relationship, no freedom, privacy, care, self-love then that's a certified TOXIC RELATIONSHIP right there.

That's either a relationship with nothing but dependency, lust, weird sense of duty, inferiority complex, maso-sad*st relationship and all other f*cked-up situations. That is not love.

Moving on from me malding (cuz some people just need therapy), I'd also like to clarify the supposedly bland and one-dimensional main characters.

Haha.

So umm... Where are the bland main characters we were supposed to talk about....?

Could someone tell me......

Their reactions very truly show what someone who is not timid and is easy-going would do.

From the beginning, MC got transmigrated to a world as the scum top who will later be abused and turned into a dog, basically, losing all their dignity. Do you want to lose your dignity? No, no one does.

So of course, when a certain someone slapped MC's face, he also slapped them back. It's crazy how you'll let someone you don't even know and have no hard feelings with just slap you, adding to the fact that MC is a confident, relaxed man who loves himself. Of course, the car accident after was something MC didn't expect.

Then MC got transmigrated again. This time, he doesn't want to die since he is afraid of pain. So he has to go along with the story. That included sleeping with the tr*sh Shou. Would you rather die and experience death or would you rather penetrate someone's a**hole, and that someone happens to be willing? Is this main character not realistic enough?

New arc, MC has slightly understood the system's style and now knows what to do. After criticizing and making fun of the tr*sh Shou inside his brain (cuz OBVIOUSLY the tr*sh Shou is ACTING and PURPOSELY LOOKING PITIFUL, AND THERE ARE MANY PLOTHOLES WHICH ARE SUSPICIOUS AND THE MC ISN'T A SENSITIVE PERSON AND IS VERY MENTALLY STABLE, AND LOGICALLY TWO VERY OUTSTANDING PEOPLE WOULDN'T FIGHT OVER A FRAGILE, USELESS BOTTOM WHO IS EASILY ENAMORED JUST BY s*x UNLESS THEY HAVE INFERIORITY COMPLEXES AND VERY BAD TASTES)

I hate naive people who have no abilities, but it gets worse here. tr*sh Shou acts naive but is really the culprit, and still can't do anything here!🤦🏻‍♀️

This arc already shows that the tr*sh Shou is manipulating everything by telling MC he's doing wrong. Then ML shows up, also doesn't want to do the bullsh*t the system wants them to do, that is, getting injured, and proceeds to commit su*cide by not following the plot. Then MC dies afterwards 'cause of going OOC. Then the arc ends.

Then comes the arc with smut which I must say is a plus for me.

This arc already showed neatly how the tr*sh Shou is acting. There are the sentences which the MC or ML says. For example the sudden weird outbreaks of strength from the Shou, and some other things which will make your face twitch if you were in their position. You can just go read.

Then the plot tells them they have to hurt e/o which they would not do obviously, so they end up fainting tr*sh Shou and ML kills MC and himself.

Then comes last arc where the plot can no longer control them so of course they can do what they want. The only 'bullying' (if you can even call it bullying) is MC slapping tr*sh Shou and ML fainting tr*sh Shou, and are also self-explanatory. It's already clear that MC and ML don't like being told what to do. They're both confident, strong-willed people who clearly know what they want.

The ending was pretty crazy and short. This is a satirical work, so some unreasonable tropes will be poked fun at here.

Anyways that's all my lazy hands want to type, could've choked out three thousand more words why some reviews here are just straight up unreasonable and dumb.

If you went through everything I said here, you have great patience.

Friendly advice, before you write a review, make sure you didn't miss anything, contradict your former reasons/evidence (like debate with yourself), read other reviews, be neutral, and most importantly, don't be dumb. Yeah? <<less

this was meant to be satire but it failed spectacularly. The MC, who was supposed to show how the plot line of "scum tops" was being forced onto him, ended up actually showcasing how he, of his own volition, is actually scum.

the writing and translation is a+. So, my reason for disliking the story is simply that the MC's personality is unlikable.

I find it pretty amusing that all the bad reviews of this webnovel are from the people that have barely read it, and don't know enough about it to pass adequate judgement. If you actually read further, you would see that yes, it is satire, and it pokes fun at a lot of BL tropes.  The ending is a little confusing, but overall it is a fun, light read.
Spoiler

The "tr*sh shou" is actually the scriptwriter that made up these scenarios, so if anyone is victim-blaming, it would be themselves. He literally just wrote random people from the real world into his stories and expects them to play along with his fantasies, I'm sorry, but what? How is the MC at fault here for not wanting to go along with this random script that he suddenly got forced to act out?

[collapse]
In general, it's just frustrating reading reviews from people that have barely read the novel and then made reviews to dissuade potential readers from it. Especially with shorter webnovels like this, that have less than 19 chapters, how can you not have the time to read the rest of it, but have ample time to make a review dissuading other people  from passing their own judgement upon the work. In all honesty, cases like these make me wish that there was a "dislike" button for such reviews, as they are genuinely not helpful, with the perhaps the exception of outlining potential trigger warnings in some more mature-rated works (however, well-written full reviews will often include them as well). <<less

The MC and other characters' dialogues are sarcastic & funny. There are a lot of jokes they make that I could relate to. Every single chapter made me laugh.

I found it perfect because I was reading it 100% for the laughs and 0% for any sort of romantic scenes. On a side note, I found it pretty easy to understand even through mtl for later chapters :)

NOTE: True rating 4/5 (I mis-cl**ked the stars when rating it. Oops.)

Edited on completion:

Haha. This story is the antidote to all the s*upidity we have to suffer while reading many other transmigration/QT stories. Its heavy irony and sarcasm is so refreshing. It's like this author loves everything that I love about BL/danmei and hates all the same horrible stereotypes, cliches and tropes that I hate and am sick of. The writing is good, and the main character is not: boring, s*upid, naive, insanely intelligent/skilled or lacking in common... more>> sense.

On the one hand I love the way it brazenly degenerates into farce while the MC kicks all the normal tropes flying, without dragging things out...

... On the other hand, it had such a good beginning, I sort of wish the author had also written a longer version where we could enjoy a proper story like this and see some real character development from the main characters (who started to fall a little into the stereotypes the author was originally smashing). <<less

This was one funny ride as hell!

This is one of the novels that have strange progression in them where the 2 main leads will succumb to each other leaving the "tr*shy" shou.

But for me, the ending was too abrupt. (?) The arcs were short and concise but a little flat.

LOL LOL LOL! This is really one of best parody of BL novels out there. You want a comedy, a parody, a troll? Then this is for you! I really laughed my ass off the whole night, seriously. It's really amusing and fulfilling if I may say. Like you know, somehow you're just furious enough to slap some uke/shou in tragedy novels where they're abused by a slag gong, wanted to scream so badly "just go away damn it! You can go away and find someone else, why wasting time... more>> for a slag!" feeling frustrated because the kind second main lead ended up being thrown away after being used by the shou, and the shou happily back to the scum gong LOL.

And so, in this story you will find a parody for those kind of stories. Find the behind the scenes over the play, where you will know the real thoughts behind those slag gong, whose grieves reaching the heavens, always swearing and tr*shing the "tragic shou" for the supposedly "tragic, touching, and sad" scenes the shou acts on. Also the trembling M tendencies for those "supposedly" tragic shou, and their delight for having two male god fighting over him LOL. And here you also can finally breath a sigh of relief for those kindhearted second main lead, for they are finally able to gain their happiness, though the happiness doesnt come from the "tragic shou" LOL <<less

I love this novel due to the fact that this have a unique plot. MC woke up and is forced to follow the plot of being a scum gong who later repents and become a loyal gong.

Ofcourse, in the first world, MC tried to go against it but:

Spoiler

It turns out that going against the plot is bad for him since once he goes against it, he was hit by a truck/car (can't remember).

After that, he was transported to the 2nd world and thus, he decides to follow the plot.

[collapse]

Its really funny reading MC's inner thoughts while he is acting lol. I'm so sick and tired of those scum gong cheap shou novels so this novel is a very good read for me.

I was quite surprised when I found out that MC is actually the top due to him not wanting to feel pain lol. I love ML and MC's interactions, its really funny!❤

Now, I was actually pretty pissed at some review here saying that MC is a scum since clearly it isn't Zhou Fan fault that he fell in love and the like. Like bruh, clearly some haven't read till the end and some don't understand shit.😑

Spoiler

MC was forced to act as a scum gong in those world. If you were in that position, would you actually willingly act as the scum who abuses the cheap shou then later on repent then get abused by the cheap shou?!

Basically, Zhou Fan is just a selfish prick who because of his delusions and selfish needs, dragged MC and ML to those worlds without their consent and forced them to act according to the plot. Tsk. Tsk.

I'm not saying that its wrong to think someone is in love with you but the way how Zhou Fan acts when he thought MC likes him is plain s*upid. And no, MC didn't like him. At all. It was just a misunderstanding on Zhou Fan's part. 🙄

[collapse]

Felt pretty pissed that 'some' people judges MC that way and kept defending this bastard Zhou Fan.

What? They're saying that MC is a scum but clearly MC is the innocent one here who is dragged into this sh*t due to Zhou Fan's delusion and selfishness.

Huff, how annoying.

Anyways, this novel is really good and I suggest you try it out if you are sick and tired of stories about scum gong abuses cheap shou but later repents while cheap shou becomes cold hearted but still got together with scum gong in the end.

All in all, 5/5! <<less

The best parody of bl troupes/clichés!

The MC is the top/seme and transmigrates into the bodies of scum tops. In order to live, the MC has to follow the script of a scum top and abuse the bottom then regret his actions and become a loyal dog. Our MC finds himself pulled into a story and forced by the story world to take actions he doesn't want or agree to.
Spoiler

He tries to go along but eventually snaps and is immediately killed. Thus entering another story he hates. He's a dry, self possessed person who wants to live. So he learns the rules and tries to find pleasure in what he can. His behaviors may read as cold but ultimately he's the victim of a type of spiritual imprisonment and r*pe.

The fact that is funny is because this is a dark comedy satire of transmigration and Gary Sue novels.

The ML is also a victim of spiritual abduction. The fact they find each other, recognize each other and fall in love is touching and hilarious.

I feel like people who said the MC is a scum clearly did not finish the novel or even understood that the novel is a PARODY, it is SATIRE. Besides, it’s not as if the tr*sh Shou was likable anyway lol.

I'm only leaving thos review to counter all the idiots who sympathized with Zhuo Fan and diss the MC and ML.

Seriously, if YOU were kidnapped from your own world without so much as a by-your-leave and forced to act out a vomit-inducing script where you become a dog for some idiot you're not at all attracted to in any way - even to the point of being forced to have s*x with him no matter how much you don't want to - with the very real threat of death if... more>> you don't obey... how would you feel towards your assigned partner/rapist? Especially when you're constantly being forced to fawn over him, and act out all kinds of cringy dog-blood plots with him.

Wen Muyan actually, LITERALLY THREW UP during his performance in the second world; it made him so sick to his stomach. And at the beginning of that life, the MC had only just woken up from the very painful death he was punished with for rebelling against the script, when he forced to either have s*x with his abductor or be punished again in who-knows-what sort of way. Those reviewers criticize him for being a scumbag when he was closing his eyes and forcing himself to go through with it while doing his best not look at Zhuo Fan's face or kiss him or touch him any more than necessary, and desperately emptying out his mind to forget who he was doing it with and just focus on the physical sensations to get through it before throwing the rapist away and leaving as fast as he could.

Zhuo Fan deserved to die a horrible, painful death, with no hope of ever reincarnating for what he did to those poor people. <<less
