I couldn't read this as serious as I do others.
Spoiler

There's girls everywhere being introduced left and right that tells you the author is either proposing a possible female heroine or a harem that includes his own female-sword. Even his little pet fox is a female iirc.

No rival yet but already a bunch of love interests and forcible mysteries introduced.
mysterious first elder, mysterious family behind female merchant... typical.

[collapse]

The MC literally 'knows' how to do anything but requires time and effort to progress anywhere.
Only one chapter in and he's already picking a fight after crossing.
Spoiler

This includes all minor world professions, he knows how to do it all: alchemy, refining, etc. All from that bootleg set he bought on earth.
As always, everything he makes > everyone else.

[collapse]

Chapters are somewhat short making them a quick read but contains very little progress at one point and then zooming past to get off that idea.
Spoiler

Still fighting over the damned mountain after being introduced in the first ten chapters. In which has tooo many secrets and many people scheming for secrets after 3 decades of the clan having owned it... too much of a coincidence and used as a way to drive plot for the MC...
Don't expect much world building as I have seen minimal.

[collapse]
It gets really boring as majority of it is reading someone scheming or the MC flicking a middle finger to them in the process..

Cultivation/power System:
Typical martial-spirit based system, refer to PMG and others.
Only difference is that some techniques are suitable only towards certain martial spirits. [Means they are incompatible with others and can lead to death otherwise.]
These techniques are also broken into many grades as well - refer to King of Gods.
Spoiler

of which the MC learns a high ranking one that only his dragon-martial spirit can use, putting him above everyone already.
Not much explanations for cultivation levels but expect the author throwing terms and explanations in for things the MC finds or to drive word count when needed.

[collapse]
The whole thing is forgettable imho.

Yes, the MC progresses fast as long as he has the resources, already seeing the whole leapfrogging enemies and baffling those that died who saw him as a waste.

Overall it isn't as exciting as reading someone break through at a dire moment or crossing a tribulation. Everything is in the MC's favor, I expect plot armor in the future. <<less

This is my first review and the reason I'm even writing this is because this novel is utter garbage. Lol. This is the kind of novel where having a good memory will do you no good because the author tends to forget a lot and when I say a lot, I mean A LOT! and that's not the end of it as its not the usual 'Intoduce something awesome and forget about it' (there's that as well though), it's more of a 'Simply forget some random sh*t and replace it... more>> with some other random sh*t that's on top of the head' in other words, it's riddled with plot holes and glaring mistakes covered by a thin layer of plot armour. And there is also the occasional elements resembling those from the other novels, like
Spoiler

Some random clan with 1st grade blacksmiths have the 'Clear Sky Hammer', sound familiar?

[collapse]
, which adds to the fun. Lol.

Here are a few examples. Enjoy!

Spoiler

* They enter a random realm to fight with demons and the age restriction is 24 years but some random dude's age is 26... this isn't very important but wait there's more. Lol.

* The MC enters a sect using a fake name and the next second people start calling him using his real name. Lol. And to add icing to the cake, he himself and even the narrator/author use the two names interchangeably giving you the illusion that there are two people.

* The mc's martial spirit is mentioned to be a wood type at the beginning.... He needs to choose between a powerful, badass wood type technique and a currently-not-so-powerful, incomplete move riddled with plot armour and guess what he chooses? Ofc it's the plot armoured one, his reason? It's because his martial spirit suddenly isn't a wood type anymore. I mean, WHAT THE ACTUAL F**k!?

* There's more but my brain doesn't want me to remember them anymore.

[collapse]

Oh and did I mention that the battle power of the MC tends to fluctuate a lot? He gets beaten up by random dudes but is suddenly able to slaughter gods left and right (not literally but it's the same thing)

And you might be wondering why I'm reading this crystallisation of crap... It's because of the comments. Lol. They are so entertaining, I've never seen so many sarcastic/negative comments in any other novel and I've caught up with the ones I'm reading, so yea. Sadly (not really), I'm dropping this because the comment section isn't interesting anymore as now comments need the translator's approval so now it's just the usual 'thx for the chap' comments... Peace. <<less

This is the only novel that had me raging nonstop. I stuck with until the end because I wanted to be fair.

This MC would be a side character in other novels. He's a moron, he falls for every trick imaginable. It's just 2500 chapters of him s*upidly walking into one trap after another.

The cultivation system is dumb. The author spends too much time on leveling up side skills and bloodline. It wouldn't be bad if side skills and bloodline provided the MC with a big boost. They... more>> don't though. All they do is ensure that he's unbeatable among people of the same cultivation level. His cultivation itself, is on par with random silkpants, until the final 5 or so chapters.

The plotting was awkward. The final 40 chapters.. the author spends 25 of those chapters on random throwaway side characters. That plot literally centers around throwaway characters. It was frustrating because thr author had so many plots he had yet to wrap up with the MC, and he wastes so many chapters towards the end, on throwaway characters.

This novel should not have a harem tag. He only has one woman. And she's gone for 99.9% of the novel. In the.1% that they are together... There's barely any dialogue between her and the MC.

I regret picking this novel up. I regret sticking with it until the end. <<less

Even though rating at 3 stars I enjoyed the read.

It does have good pacing, and some imaginative/descriptive scenes. If you want a light read, a story that you can chuckle at while your brain is set on s*upid, dig in.

Where it fall short is continuity.
- Author blows past scenes without valid explanations
... more>>
Spoiler

MC meets rival family in tomb with one exit. He gets what they want, and they are many many times stronger than him. Do they wait outside the exit to kill him? Do they search for him in the tomb? Author mentions it in passing, that MC walks out without them around... At least mention that the other family thought MC died due to a trap where he fell into a pit (Although smart antagonist would place guards at the entrance to capture them... and MC needs to stealth kill his way out)

[collapse]
- Plot armor for dummies
Spoiler

MC picks up this rare Lightning skill, practices it once, without girls knowledge and he is pro, then goes and fights with his bully brother, and can beat him with it after 6 days of practice vs many years of practice + higher realm cultivation.... Most Xianxia at least explain that the 2 martial skills are realms apart (Although not in this instance, they just differ in quality) Also, that MC has an amazing comprehension type ability that lets him learn things faster.

[collapse]
- Default Xianxia story line leads to some special moments...
Spoiler

MC is from another world, a shut in, and knows he is weak in this new world, then he challenges someone much stronger to a life and death battle???? Riiiight.... of course the story follows perfectly for him to show off his OP skills... MC should grow into accepting life/death through events in the story/and he should be smart enough not to be suicidal in challenging life/death duel without first figuring out how to increase his strength.

Well, the whole soul transfer in this story is poorly used. If it's not going to add anything to the story, just skip it.

Generic xianxia. Are all xianxia webnovels terrible or do translators have terrible taste? Why do I still have an urge to read them?

- Lots of asspulls. Inconsistency is consistent. Lots of telling instead of showing. Plot is predictable. This is one of those novels where "fated luck" is a central plot device, explaining the plot armor and s*upid plot developments.

- MC is an idiot. Literally makes the s*upidest decisions, because of either the dao or heart demons. This applies to everybody in this universe basically.
As soon as he reincarnates... more>> he loses all his common sense & prior personality and turns into a cultivator idiot.
Constantly lets enemies go, who predictably come back to make trouble later. Not because he's a righteous character, but because of shitty writing. All sorts of excuses are given by the author afterwards when he can be assed to. Survives due to plot armor being thicker than a mountain. Narration then has the gall to suggest he's decisive when killing, or that he's killed uncountable people. Uh, no.
s*upid narration. Constantly telling me how pitiful the MC is. Well, that's because he makes poor choices. He's so righteous and never steals from others. Except for that one time he totally did. Spoiling the plot by telling you the future of a character. Getting basic physics wrong.

- Antagonists are a constant stream of two-dimensional, arrogant, vicious, shameless idiots. Chinese webnovel authors have this down to a science.

- Side characters get jack-all character development and are sidelined pretty quickly.
Not a harem. Romance is cliche s*upid, the love interest gets sidelined, then whisked away to the upper realm, to meet again in another 1000 chapters, or you know, never.
His first spirit pet is female, so I was 90% sure MC was eventually gonna f*ck her, especially with how much the author sexualizes her. Lost that bet, but she's sidelined pretty quickly so that's another tick in the pessimism column.

- Item/alchemy level systems are a mess and are often unexplained. What do the levels mean? How are they differentiated? Nobody knows. In some ranking systems rank 1 is high and in others rank 1 is low. Spirit Stones are specifically described as having no side-effects until they suddenly do, during a fight, so the MC doesn't have a way to recharge.
MC is always either poor or has infinite money, there is no in-between. New currencies keep being introduced. Characters have some mystical way to count millions of currency in an instant that is never explained.

- Power system is half-assed. Only one step up from completely-assed base 10 level cultivation systems. Constant level comparisons.
Levels are divided into low/mid/high, then there's a peak, which can be divided into low/mid/high. Sometimes there's a peak above the peak, which can also be divided into low/mid/high, and after that there's half-step next level, which also can be divided into low/mid/high. Sometimes the low/mid/high has their own low/mid/high/peak. I wish I was joking.
MC asspulls special moves out of nowhere.
Special moves aren't explained. Why does infusing sadness/seasons/poetry into a special move make it hit harder? Poetry moves are s*upid.
MC's increasing lightning affinity means that non-lightning skills aren't suited for him, a setting which is forgotten almost immediately.
The initial iconic Martial Spirit concept is quickly thrown into the tr*sh and forgotten. Martial Sages initially have have insane regeneration and can only die if their "sage cores" (whatever they are) are destroyed, later this is forgotten and they die like regular mooks. Sages cultivate "laws", which is never explained. Martial Emperors are supposed to be able to regenerate from a single drop of blood, which is retconned later. They're supposed to only die when their Emperor's Heart, which contains their soul, is destroyed. But later on their heads work too. They're also supposed to have insane regeneration, but that's also forgotten later.
After the higher realm arc (Kunlun), everything is basically reset and ranks above Emperor once again turn into regular mooks.

- Translation is great. <<less

Not sure how a person who suddenly find himself in a new world quickly immerse himself into killing and fighting others. Other good novels will follow pattern of the protagonist getting a clear idea of his surrounding before going wild. Mu*dering someone shouldn't be so easy especially when it's the first time killing someone. Convoluted plot jumping from declaring a life and death duel with half brother to cultivation breakthrough, from running into a dangerous area with no experience to killing someone with no enmity. This is already disgusting enough... more>> to drop after just 9 chapters. <<less

Novel starts out OK, only because it sets up a xianxia/xuanhua fantasy setting, but gets boring extremely quick and the boredom content is god-tier. Percentage-wise, this novel is 90% splice-of-life, 5% action, and 5% adventure/mystery. You can go on for chapters with filler material the funny thing is that the author hasn't even gotten the readers attention before he/she goes full-filler chapters!

Maybe younger readers with a longer attention-span might find reading this novel OK but that's only because they haven't seen the good stuff yet.

I give this a 3 star rating. 2 star for good, dedicated, timely translations by Gravity Tales. 1 Star for the story.

The Story was really good at first. There was a different vibe at each plot. But now it seems like the story is going all the same round and round.

Some Common points in the whole story:-

  1. Everyone is arrogant.
  2. Everyone tries to kill or humiliate the MC and fails and then they clung to more powerful guys by telling them lies about the MC.
  3. Everyone wants to kill the MC for his treasures but get robbed instead or the MC escapes.
  4. Everyone acts like a thief, crook and arrogant.
  5. Everyone wants to get a piece of MC, even if they know or do not know him.
  6. There is no reason for conflicts all time (more like
    Spoiler

    hentai manga or anime

    [collapse]
    )
  7. Everyone try to impress Girls and when the girls instead just talk to MC, they all try to kill him (-_-)
  8. MC can always attend tournaments even if he is not invited or late to attend.
  9. MC will always win or get back for revenge.
  10. All the inheritance gained by MC has revengeful (more like troublesome) backgrounds, which on gaining it have to be fulfilled by MC or he will be killed by the antagonist.
  11. MC will always prevail and all-powerful and he will have battle everyday and every time.
END OF THE STORY!

I'll preface this by saying I plan to let this novel sit for a while and then read in batches when I'm out of better novels.

This novel feels a bit disjointed throughout. I'm pretty sure the only reason cultivation realms exist is so that the MC can seem cooler for skipping them. The MC is also incredibly bipolar and forgetful. He'll be ready to kill someone for chapters and then when he gets the opportunity he'll just let them be. Or he'll act completely normal before mu*dering someone in the... more>> face and then be surprised when people get mad at him for it. I think this may actually be the most unassumingly arrogant MC in any novel I've read. He doesn't really look down on people with words like a lot of tr*shy MCs, he just plainly considers himself better and never really sees anyone as his equal even if they're more powerful than he is. But, hey, if a fight ever starts with one of them some kind of plot armor will pop out to protect him. And if he ever gets hurt, don't worry, it only happened so that he can come back better, faster and stronger.

So yeah, this is pretty tr*sh. Why am I still reading it.... <<less

its a good novel at first it looks promising that you wanna read it daily

but after chapter 60 it turn to the point I need to drop it since no point reading it since it is to predictable, then for some odd reason we have a long wasted chapter of battle of a minor character who came out of no where. Even the battle of a Very strong boss and some Mysterious Person was not that long but I was disappointed how a nobody from a certain something is wasting... more>> chapter just to make the battle OP when all reader or at least majority knows what that person ending will be. Such thing is beyond me, what I hated the most next to filler is reading wasted chapters just to beautify a minor enemy who is bound to die and has no important rule.

Another part is MC's relationship to his surrounding, I have no idea what the author is thinking why with the this and that to female if they are just forgotten later. What is this ignore character play? It is hard to judge if the character is a minor one or a supporting one or so on.

Even a certain Character that I thought would guide MC was just brought down so fast and I was like WTH!? what's the point of there meeting? all those chapter I just read went down to nothing? the characters was technically forgotten? Even the clan was one dimensional. Mysterious people at the background? B*tch please author just give them way to LITTLE line and here I read so many chapters for a minor enemy to hell with this novel!

It uniqueness disappear in my eyes, although this is just my bias opinion so do not take it to heart... <<less

I liked this novel for the plot, however I’ll only give it 3/5. Author introduced a lot of abilities and paths but ended up dropping them as story progressed. He has a semi harem but leaves all of them behind when he ascends. He chases after one, and the ending doesnt give closure for the romance. All in all; average read. Good time pass. (:

So far, pretty good for what it is. There are those tropes that we get to see in every other novel out there. So I won't mind or talk about it. There are not many chapters out there translated. So talking about plot is also useless. Character interaction is pretty good and developed. It has to be, after all he has only met only one character till now, his cousin. Potential harem member here. Action is pretty good, or should I say mediocre, if we have to put our standards... more>> higher. That leads us to MC's cultivation method, which is unique actually. Smokes and dragons gives you more effects. MC is also mediocore. Not naive, thinks a bit actually before doing anything, which is always a plus. I will see where it goes. I will not put my standards high, cuz looking at it. It will be like god of slaughter, PMG or something along these lines. Afterall, its from Zongheng. But yeah, seeing that it has been picked up by gravity, it has to be good afterall. 5 stars for now, its translation and its growth. <<less

Everything is mediocre.

Author is just confused on which is the real MC. But so far, after 800+ chapters, I believe Chu Chaoyun is the real MC.

By doing so, it would lessen your annoyance towards this novel. But 1 star is still appropriate.

Avoid, unless you have nothing else to read.

I don't get it, why are there so many 1 star Reviews?

In my opinion there are only three little shortcomings:

  1. The MC is way too lazy to open his mouth and defend himself against wrong accusations
  2. flatearther Universe and stars you can walk on
  3. The genius youths are stronger than the older generation... because they are genius
maybe you can also count the power structure in (especially the progress after some years)

But the Charakters (MC and side-) are pretty good, the story is progressing steady (even that annoying world-travel-thing was teased to be... more>> part oft he plot) and the cultivation doesn’t go really overbord, and that lower level fighters kill those whith higher level is not uncommon. It also isn’t a Harem, although there are a lot of interested woman, there is only one he loves. There is some plotarmor, but no major loopholes until now.

It is a roundabout very good story. <<less

Well, I blitzed through to chapter 125. And the first thing I can say is... the MC of this novel is an idiot. A bloodthirsty idiot, who has no common sense or even a shred of wit. As far as s*upid MCs go, this guy certainly is up there.

Not to mention, quite a number of people MC encounteres also seem to lack brains as well. Must be something in the air over there....

What saves this novel from a total waste of my time, though, was its relatively fast pacing. Sure,... more>> there are moments where a scene does drag on, or the useless banter commonly seen in Chinese novels unnecessarily eats up page space, but they are mercifully short and far in-between. The main story does move at a brisk enough pace and that helped to sustain my interest in the novel.

I'll probably try to finish reading it, right up to the latest TLed chapters. But I've got this feeling that my overall impression of this novel won't change by much. <<less

Standard Wuxia/Xianxia/Xuanxia. So far, if you've read anything from Wuxia world, you see this story coming miles away. I don't know what sets this as different.

The title is Immortal/Martial Dual cultivation, but so far we've seen nothing to differentiate the MC's cultivation from anything else.

Spoiler

I mean, honestly?! His book he bought on earth (a world without cultivators as far as he knew) which tells him how to do alchemy and other crafts better than the greatest experts in their fields, and a cultivation technique which is of course more op than anything his clan has. He also has a 'martial spirit' of a blue dragon which is supposed to be super duper powerful and rare in his clan. He's doing too much op things yet I've dosed off reading the descriptions more times than I care to count.

[collapse]

Pretty much with most Xianxia's you want to give it to chapter 100, because by then the first 'welcome to the world' story arc is completed and the plot goes into a completely different direction.

Its not bad, outside of its might as well be the same as many other stories I flipped through and gave up on. Some of the girls were vaguely interesting in a sorta-cute way. <<less

I started this novel because it lacked the underestimated protagonist, hiding true abilities and harem tag however he is underestimated almost every chapter, the story goes like this: being underestimated by everyone all the time->being recognized by everyone for 2 chapters then moving to the next zone and repeat.

And mc:

-is s*upid af, makes the worst decisions about everything

-is not ruthless as the tags suggest, at least he's not to girls. Literally, 1 chapter ago someone was clinging to his neck when he tried to escape, told her to get off... more>> or he'll throw her off, and then she presses her b**bs to his back and he's like: "O sh*t I can't, you can stay"...

It's not horrible tho, you should give it a try. Oh and if you don't like face-slapping don't read this <<less

ahh it's not bad but it's not stellar transformations either and it most definitely ain't martial world but it's better than the latter story of Martial God Asura thats for sure give it a run think you'd enjoy the story only thing I don't like is MC getting strong to slowly and making excuses to put of powering up for no reason and another the Author makes it so people can birth their own weapon spirits our MC gives birth to a weapon spirit (weapon spirits are born from the... more>> heart and intents of their MC and they follow the cultivation method) from the use immortal cultivation compendium meaning this spirit is perfect for our MC the spirit is born from him and his immortal cultivation method making it his immortal weapon spirit but author lets a weapon spirit MC found and let it absorb our MC's weapon spirit and take over the weapon just to have a companion character so our MC isn't alone the whole time not only does he do this but he uses her to so bad and makes her give MC advice that doesn't benefit him half the time. <<less

There's a lot of action in the novel and it's pretty entertaining. But the thing that puts me off is the MC is like a midget that constantly picks fights with Mike Tyson like characters. The napoleon complex in this novel is strong, for his dignity cannot be blemished! There will be plenty of wtf moments in the novel because of this.
