s*upid, s*upid, s*upid. The characters, the plot, the writer who thinks this pile of garbage can pass off as a romantic story.

How do you deal with domestic abuse guys? Oh, I know! You forgive the person in question after some time!

Even though the MC himself switches personality for 180 degrees like he is a completely different person (somehow???), he still accepts this total piece of tr*sh because uwu it's love, he loves me so he was just a bit extreme back then.

My brain hurts from this story. Stories like these... more>> remind me why people who undergo abuse are stigmatized by society. Sad. <<less

The way I look at it the MC didnt have to stay. The abused is pretty bad.. But it could have been avoided. The ML didnt know the MC rescued him.. Everyone knows but him.. He went through 3 years of torture for love.. Dont blame it all on the ml..

Didn’t read yet. Read some of the reviews, that he’s an abusive pyscho. Ya no one should support the character in this novel lol the hells wrong with u😟 my sisters baby daddy was super abusive towards her mentally and physically, everyone wanted her to leave his s*upid ass, but no SHE stayed, Love is messed up sometimes, , her love for him when he’s just a piece of shit👐🏼

I usually don't read this kind of novels and even avoided this before. But, since it was already written that ML is such a scum and abusive, if you don't like it, why still read it and then give low ratings? Read the summary first before reading the content. Reading up to c161, the author really wrote nicely, so she doesn't deserve to have her work given a low rating. It eas already stated that there will be abusive characters. If you don't like, then don't read.

Anyway, I don't know... more>> how many times I shed tears. Fortunately I already prepared myself in reading this novel. The title Black Lotus doesn't refer to how MC changed to a black lotus after he was abused - both by ML and the people around him (except his father). Well, MC became indifferent which I am thankful of since MC can now mask his pain and won't let those people who hurt him hurt him again. Black Lotus in the title refers to how ML sees MC (before the divorce).

As for MC, well, he was really pathetic in the first 99 chapters. Well, what can you expect for a hopelessly in love person? But, it is not that MC has no brain. He just loves ML so much. He understands where he stands in ML's heart though.

As for ML, yes, he is really loathsome. And the hatred towards him increase since we read this in MC's POV. He hated MC since he was forced by his mother to marry MC when he already has someone he likes. So, he really would hate anyone, even if it is not MC, who was forced to him.

the one he really likes is not that btch fake white lotus. It is MC! That btch is super a btch setting up MC many times including faking that he was the one who saved ML, when it fact it was MC! AND MANY MORE OF THIS BTCH'S SCHEMES! Reading up to here, ML should have a good impression of MC before had it not for this btch who ruined everything! Just because he envied MC! ML's abusive nature is already there, but he could have changed before if he and MC started on a right foot!

I read some reviews and I don't think this deserve a 1 star rate. The ML is written that way. He was written to be hated! I freaking hate the ML a lot!😤

The same with MC. He was written to be a masochist! To accept all the bad things ML do to him because he love him.

I don't like that kind of love. Even if it's just a misunderstanding, I won't sacrifice my life to pain and grievance. If he don't love me, then I'll let go. Why hold on... more>> to someone who don't want me anyway. They said, "Love is full of pain and suffering." but hell I'll accept this kind of suffering.

Well, they did divorce but MC already receive to much pain to the point of depression.

It's really unreasonable for ML to investigate everything too late. What a big loop hole. He misunderstood MC because he met an imposter, but how the heck did ML thought that the imposter is the one he is looking for? He didn't investigate? He just thought, "Oh! He is the one I am looking for!". I don't get it.

Anyway, this novel just show us a kind of love that didn't have any foundation. So don't expect any fluff. Just pure abuse.

I like that the author thought to write something like this but sorry. I won't read this again. I'm afraid I'll have heart attack because of anger. <<less

I want just to rate the manga version...

everyone wanted the ML to love and support the MC to the point

point of illogical actions. MC 's hurt, losing

... more>> blood, and instead of calling ambulance they argue with ML must be the one drive him to the hospital.

The MC is kidnapped and they look for him instead of calling the police.

The fact that everyone knew the MC was the one sacrificing himself when young during ML kidnapping and no one wants to tell the latter to stop him from abusing the MC....

I've not read the novel yet, hopefully it's better than the manga.

  • Edit: I've read the novel from c100 on when MC grows a pair and f decided to divorce ml. It's a little bit more developed than the manga. But to think that MC was abused during 99 chapters..
I've read up to c187, and there's no black lotus. MC woke up from his abused state,

MC is stronger but still can't become an as*hole toward ml, that harrassed him to get back together when he knows that the white lotus is fake. The author tries to add new characters, new pairings, everyone is gay, yeah! B

the plot lacks humour, and logic and charm. It's always dramatic in a boring and repetitive way. Everyone got a low iq... Especially the main characters. Just be warned everyone is from high social upbringing but they are all s*upid and lack common sense. It's all about making the characters suffer instead of finishing/ending them. Like ML is portrayed as cruel. But he abused MC for three years and when he learns the white lotus is fake, he just kicked him, the white lotus, a little and let his double torture him instead. Way to avenge MC and for lying to him for

years...

To sum up, a very boring novel trying to create drama in more than 200 chapters. Don't get why it got a manga version. <<less

From the moment he saved the POS when they were younger, all that bastard did was hurt him. I swear! No character development. This ain't angst. This is f*cking glorifiying an abuser like the POS ML. The MC got all the bad things and all the ML got is guilt? Heh, he should rot in hell for what he did. No matter how much he did to be better, that's never enough to erase the years of heartbreak, pain, abuse and traum he subjected the MC to.

I don't care if he got therapy or treatment for his issues. He should be 100 meters away from the MC and not less. He deserves a second chance when he gets better, but he doesn't deserve to have the MC. How the f*ck you gonna live with someone who reminds you of every shitty thing and nightmare of a life you lived because of them?

Sorry for my bad English,

This is one of the novel and make my cry.. Maybe due to the lock down, im starting to read these novels

I'm not sure why I like to tortured my heart by reading this genre.

The novel started when Gu YS keep hitting and abusing Nian Nian due to for him the marriage between them is a forced married arrange by His Mother and he assumed that Nian Nian is only pretending to be weak and sick. I dont like his Mother who keep threatening Nian... more>> Nian when he agreed to divorce with Gu YS. She already saw what his son did to his Nian Nian and turn a blind eyes to the domestic Violence, everyone on the novel also didn't report the case to police. Lu Yun (the mother in law) also treat her another son Gu Lin very badly and even sent him to the orphanage.

But since this is only a novel we know that Gu YS will finally begged for forgiveness and Nian Nian will forgive him. I do think Gu YS is a dangerous person because once he know that Shen Luoan is only a fake person, he started to asked Gu Lin to tortured him again and again.

In the end I really hope that Nian Nian will choose Tang Shuo instead of Gu YenSheng.

Also everyone in this novels seems to only like their same gender.. Accept the mother in law and the butler haahha <<less

I sacrificed an entire night of sleep for this. It was soo not worth it. I did read the reviews but I was like "what's the worst that could happen?" The 'worst' was, unfortunately, a wasted Saturday night, a lot of anger and frustration and the urge to slam my head and my phone at the wall.

First of all, the MC and ML do not suit each other. The ML doesn't get his just desserts. All he experiences is some guilt for how he treated the MC, and then he... more>> also manages to shove most of the blame on others.

ML commits domestic violence. Again and again and again. But the people around them are like "yeah, life be like that" or even "aww ML is kinda cute, just like a kid (ml's best friend) " after ML manages to send the MC to the hospital. Remember kids, the number of times your spouse commits domestic violence is either zero or infinity. There's no "oh they did this once because they were angry, it won't happen again". The MC literally pleaded the ML not to hit him so much but he still sent him to the hospital. And then the MC gets a permanent scar on his face and has to grow out his hair because ML also hated 'imperfection'. It doesn't matter that the so called imperfection was created by himself.

MC has a lot of mental problems and he's a victim of Stockholm syndrome. I don't really like him as a character or as a human. He willingly chooses to ignore the signs and unlike the victims who knowingly ignore every wrong thing happening with them, he actually feels shocked everytime the ML does something that shows his hate blatently. How? I'm not victim shaming, but I think it's perfectly within my rights to shame the MC for his idiocy

I really hope that the people giving this story 5 stars or saying "the ML grows on you" never have that time in their lives where they have to give relationship advice to anybody. The author, and anybody who doesn't find anything wrong with the so called romance in this story seriously need some psychological counseling.

This story was a torture. Like, I did want to torture myself, but not like this. I couldn't even feel sad about the MC. The only person I somewhat liked was the MC's best friend who genuinely wanted to help him (whom the MC gave a big middle finger by getting back together with the ML). This entire story is a redflag. The plotholes are more than there are holes in a sieve.

The worst thing about this story was.... How normalised the domestic violence was. Like the ML broke the MC's mother's piano, which was the last thing the MC had left to remember her with, but everybody just took it so lightly. Nobody batted an eye when MC was sent to the hospital, repeatedly, due to the domestic violence, but once the ML says sorry, everybody is like "look he's in so much pain, he's so sorry".

What pain?! ML still blames the MC for his feelings like "you're making me feel so bad, why are you doing this to me?" SIR, IF YOU HADN'T DONE THOSE THINGS HE'D HAVE NOTHING TO MAKE YOU FEEL REGRET ABOUT, DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND?

A couple getting back together? That's between them. Nobody else reserves the right to 'matchmake', especially in a domestically abusive environment. The ML needs a restraining order to stay away from the MC.

This story is so bad and frustrating, there's no promised character development, it's full of abuse, MC, his friend (and I) all have a very bad time. Seriously, don't read this. <<less

FYI only reason I lasted so long was because the translator did an amazing job translating this hot mess.
I'm a huge fan of angst. This was not it, not only did ML overdo the abuse to the point that he should've been locked up for domestic abuse, the side characters were all disgusting as well. The mother I liked in the beginning for standing up for MC but later on it's revealed that she's just a snake and did the blackmailing behind the scenes. The people around MC constantly pushed the two together even after knowing MC was getting abused. I hate that the little home wrecker went scot-free for so damn long even after he was revealed to be impersonating MC's online persona, and the fact that he blatantly caused MC to be kidnapped the second time. Little POS needs to pummeled in the face already. Second male lead is pathetic, constantly hanging onto MC and repeatedly making trouble just because MC was his long time crush, no excuse to be constantly pursing a married man and especially not after he was rejected so many times. MC was literally in the hospital and the dude heard that MC finally divorced ML, and was celebrating the fact that he had a chance, like wtf.

The story does not deserve a 5 stars but I gave it 5 stars anyway to boost the total rating since everyone gave it such a low rating.

I like MC even though he is a super M and is actually s*upidly dumb in love with a scumbag. However, he has his strong points and he is quite stubborn in the decision he makes because he lacks parental love as well as ML love.

ML is your typical scumbag but I do want to give him one defense point. He has anger... more>> management issue and actually need professional help but he did not seek help until it's too late. Whenever he is overwhelm with emotion, espcially anger, he will resort to violence hence the beating of the MC and side characters like the second ML Tang Shuo. He later realize he needs professional help and seek help to manage his anger/emotion issue.

Second ML, Tang Shou, is just tr*sh. Personally, I think he is worst than ML which boost ML a little for me. TS is selfish and crazy about MC that he doesn't give a f*ck about his own family. Even after his brother *died* and his father was in ICU with his mother crying on the floor and their business in ruin, all he cares about was deleting a weibo hot search so that ML cannot find out MC is actually the one who save ML when they were young. I totally lost it there. He is also s*upid so he get used by the villains who *mu*dered* his brother a lot without even knowing it. He also doesn't understand human language (or he is just too selfish to listen, lol). He always ignores what MC want as long as it benefits him... for example:

MC: I just got out of a bad marriage and don't want to start a new relationship yet.

ML2: Oh, you said we should date now and marry in a few months? Great!

MC:.... No, I said I'm not ready to enter a new relationship.

ML2: You said we should discuss marriage now? Awesome, Honey! I love you!

MC:...... forget it, I'm done talking.

Like that is literally how the second ML, TS, communicates with the MC throughout the whole novel that I even wonder if they speak the same human language. <<less

PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! WARNING! IF YOU ARE A VICTIM OF ABUSE DO NOT READ THIS! Most pretty much some up how disgusting this story is. No amount of lies justify anyone going through this amount of abuse. He will be abused again, it will just be covered up better. The Gu family justifies the abuse and they are ok with it. It's the perfect environment for an abuser to continue. The author has written reality though. This is not uncommon for abuse victims to go back to their abuser. I... more>> beg you not to go back. Be strong. I promise you you can escape it. It's not an easy road but it's easier then the pain you are going through now.

I was reading the manga then came to the novel because I honestly couldn't believe this story was going in the direction of them getting back together. Well I learned quick it does have them back together. No I didn't fully finish it because of my mental health I couldn't. <<less

Disgusting. I was hoping some kind of badass MC who finally realized how disgusting of a human being the ML is; but no. I thought he would move on and don't give a f* about the ML, but no. I thought that ML at least got a retribution for what he does to MC not just some kind of regret because he realized he f* up, but in a legal way; by that I mean jail time.

Everyone here is mess up. I don't wanna victim blame the MC, but seriously tho, it would be a different story if the ML loved him at the beginning of their marriage and then became an a*hole. I would still kinda get why he try to be together with ML. But no! Even at their wedding, ML already hated MC.

3/3.5 out of 5 is what I would rate it.

I completed this through MTL, which itself was not terrible.

I have no reason to like the ML and his crew of friends. They've done nothing but WRONG the MC since the very beginning and honestly, they didn't even try to repent and jus kept adding on to their 500mile long list of antagonizing. I'm also really sad that the 2nd ML didn' t have any opportunity to grow in this story, that was one of my biggest :thumbsdown: to this entire... more>> novel. He had so much potential at the end of the story, but then the focus pivots itself back to the depressed ML time and time again. :/ Really, this universe is just so unjust. And it's not like we even knew they were the 2nd ML until.. NEVER, at least according to the main plot. SIGH.

Overall, I loved the drama, I loved that the MC picks himself up (and something else along the way), but I will never appreciate this ML or his group of friends. <<less
