The chapters are short, easy to read and the story is similar to that of Princess and the Frog with a heavier tone...

Spoiler

It's a story of a Prince who got turned to a frog because of a madwoman. The woman was in love with the Prince, kidnapped him, tortured and locked him up so she can have him all to herself. Though nothing too detailed, but there are hints of (as mentioned) torture and r*pe. This woman disgusts me to no end.

Anyway, there was a chance came and the Prince escaped. Unfortunately, he was caught by the madwoman and she cursed him into a frog... a frog that no one wants. Of course, except for MC... who happens to also be a witch, but the good kind of witch who has a soft spot for animals and helps them.

The conflict with the evil witch gets resolved early on, around Ch. 18. And the remaining chapters involved developing the romance as well as the other conflict with how to report the situation to the King. Ofc, the Imperial Palace had been worried sick with the Prince's conditions, even put up posters in search of frogs (suffice to say, the Imperial Palace already knew what happened). However, after the Prince became human again... he doesn't want to go back to the Palace and just want to stay with the MC.

There were some inconsistencies with the time, but ofc it might just be me and my faulty reading so I didn't put much thought to it.

[collapse]

Besides the dark undertones and the shitty evil witch that makes my blood boil, the progress was good. It was better than expected and, given the situation, appropriate, believable and not at all rushed. And I really appreciate it that the Prince didn't go mental from all that torture. My heart ached for him.

Spoiler

For some reason, Prince Ian calling the MC 'owner' afterwards didn't sit well with me. Idk if it's just me but I really don't like it with the master-servant addressing, even if it's just a way of addressing. Here we have a man who was broken, a Prince tortured and changed. I can't bear imagine the trauma. But ofc, it gets better.

[collapse]

If I could, I'd go in the story and kill that evil witch myself. I really appreciate the MC. The 'healing' somehow reminded me of Second Master, for some reason. It was good and beautiful.

Anyway, despite the dark tone at the start, I still consider this a relatively light read in a sense that there are no heavy dramas, doesn't dabble with unnecessary theatrics, with the added typical fairytale fantasy flare. lol I appreciated some changes from the original tale here and there. I was surprised this was originally CNN, given that the ambience feels more like a JPN to me. It's also an HE, not too grand, just right but I still find beautiful. And the translation was good too! Hence, to this, a full 5.0 rate! :D <<less

Interesting novel based lightly on the frog prince classic. I say lightly bc it's an entirely different story so you don't need to worry about reading a plot that has been done.

Male lead's point of view, and good character development, realistic reactions and feelings of the characters.

its a chinese novel too so it feels infinitely different to Japanese takes on "princes and dukes daughters" etc.

I actually cried when the prince is pining over the witch. He really obsessed with her but he do not hurt her like what the duchess did to him since that is what true love really is.

Found this by accident, was looking at this translation site for other works. I'm glad I read it out of boredom, it is very short and has a nice story line. The translations are good too, not machined translated.

I wish the rest of the series was translated, it only has 9 chapters left.

This is also missing a tag, the villian is an extreme yanderes which is the main mechanism behind the story.

A fluffy story and nice twist on the classic fairy tale of the princess and the frog.

Even though the story tried to reason out the prince's obsession with the witch it still feels like those romantic feelings sprung up from nowhere. I understand being grateful towards your savior and the change trauma can have on a person but it can feel a little bit much.

Also is it just me or has the prince become similar to the evil witch in terms of their obsessive feelings even if they have been expressed differently.

[collapse]

However for a short story that you can finish quickly the story is pretty decent. <<less

It really simple and short read romance novel. It point of view of prince frog with witch and he thankful to meet gentle lady after madwoman. It nice to see view on man who might had bad experience situation to savior person and how he keep hold small light hope.

Just one regret that I would like to see one more chapter for after end.

That's a great example of short and good novel based into a fairy tail. The text flows really well, and so I need to thank the TLs for it ^^.

The story itself has a great world construction -- fair, understandable, not so tragic that missunderstands cannot be fixed, with resoanable characters, even the 'NPCs' have a sort of background.

My only "problem", if I can say so, is how it ends. The end itself is good and makes me happy, but seems to be a little rushed:

Spoiler

The prince talks to his family about being with the witch like someone talks to their close friends at school. Because of the great world construction and the reasonable reasons he has to not be back as prince, you may expect more politeness when talking to the king itself, his mother and so, even if they have a good family situation.

I can easly say that this 'gran finale' could be extended into 2 or 3 more chapters, because the way it was done, just ended like some JP shoujo novels....

Besides that, its a warm and good novel to hug your pillows at the end, and that's why I give 5* :))) <<less

It's not awful. It's just not very good either.

The tone of the story is told very much like a fairy tail/short story. The characters are pretty 2 dimensional and their motives aren't very fleshed out but it's enough to push the plot forward. Though, the plot is honestly pretty underwhelming. It's a relatively quick read, but if this story was any longer I wouldn't bother finishing it.

It's damn short! It's good tho. The translation quality is also good despite having two translators with different style. It didn't disrupt or bother my reading.

The Prince's love is actually awkward for me here's why:

Although he clarified that it is not a disease but for me it still made me think of obsession. Like what the previous commentators said, he was deeply tortured physically, emotionally, and mentally. Just when he was about to die someone saved him. He saw her as his savior. His goddess. His lifeline. So I think it was his deep worshipping and devotion that made him think he loved her. He became obsess. So I really can't say that it's love for him. There were even one or two scenes that creeped the hell out of me. As for her, I can say that she truly developed feelings for him. Afterall, it wasn't like he owed her something but his presence just gradually became natural for her. His presence and his persistent effort gradually reached her. That's how I see it. Anyway, obsession or not, I don't think he will ever feel anything similar or close to romance with someone else other than Joanna so I guess it's okay?

[collapse]

I do agree that the ending was rushed. I think it could've been stretched for at least 2-3 chapters more. <<less

This is the dark version of The Frog Prince story so it's kind of heartbreaking in the beginning.

Spoiler

The prince was kidnapped and tortured by an evil witch who was obsessed with him (the evil is a duke's daughter btw). When he tried to escape, he is cursed to be a frog and he almost died because of malnutrition.

The story is getting sweeter when ML meets FL. He instantly falls in love with her when they meet for the first time. He's also so clingy to her and makes me doubt if his feeling towards FL is love or just some sort of obsession. But I think ML's behaviour is quite understandable.

Spoiler

She's the only one who shows him kindness although he's still a frog. After being tortured for months, FL's gentleness must be like some treasures for him.

[collapse]

In short, I really love this story but I'm a bit disappointed with the ending. It feels so rushed. I want to know more about their wedding and their marriage life although it's just for briefly. Well, I think I'll never know the answer and just have to make do with the current ending. <<less

A very brief yet interesting take on the Princess & Frog story. Ian was obsessively in love (in worship?) but didn't do anything untoward or forcefully. He sure suffered a lot though, poor guy.

Would like to see their life after the ending, seems like it would be fluffy. ^ ^

Thank you, translator team! The reading was pleasant. I really like how the story was told and it was quite enjoyable to read the whole story in one sitting. There was no boring moment, but it felt that the ending was a bit rushed, or I wished there were some more side stories ... more>>

to at least show that Joanna actually realized her feelings for prince Ian and she will share her affection towards Ian. You know, just a little treat to Ian since he went through a lot.

Regardless, I'll still give it a 5 since it was a fun journey and hooked me from the beginning. <<less

Cute, sweet short story. A great rendition of the princess and the frog. Joanna was so kind and mistaken because she is a witch and Ian's capture and torture was so heartbreaking.

Their story was so sweet and cute and even with the slight yandere tendencies they were pretty tame especially with the comparison of the crazy lady.

Overall, a very cute and sweet short story.

A nice short read. B*tches be real crazy. Being that we are in the prince's POV, I felt that his own sufferings and feelings from that are really vivid, which made me more connected than if it is the POV is from the witch's. Because it is short, it is kind of unsatisfactory (give me extras, please!) but it is great for what it is!

the story is very short and easy to read. I thought it has some dark twisted melancholic element beacause of the description. I am, however, unsatisfied with the last chapter. Was the ending rushed?

Very good. Fluffy and cute story but not in the beginning. The original author even read the English translation. She/he commented on chapter 20.
