Waking up, Kim Hajin finds himself in a familiar world but an unfamiliar body.

A world he created himself and a story he wrote, yet never finished.

He had become his novel’s extra, a filler character with no importance to the story.

The only clue to escaping is to stay close to the main storyline.

However, he soon finds out the world isn’t exactly identical to his creation.

I....I didn't know what I expected here... Truly, the decision that the author decided to take the story in is idiotic, I think I lost brain cells when I realized what the author decided to do here.

Spoiler

I didn't mind the misunderstanding trope, I didn't mind the cheesy line, romance and misunderstanding abuse that is happening here, f*ck I didn't even mind the clear favouritism/nationalism being shown here (really? you're telling me somehow a united Korea has more "master-rank" heroes than the entirety of Europe and the USA combined? and that the reason that happened is apparently, everyone decided to become a Korean citizen, and that every nation is a pushover to let a single individual trampled around swinging their d*ck and not suffering any consequence). What made me dropped this novel is the tower.

I will say it simply, the decision to make the tower an "alternate world" and change the story from something reminiscent to here to a full-blown tower climbing is idiotic at best and at worst, the author didn't know how else to make the MC strongest, so he cheated by making everyone who's stronger than him weaker by restricting their power, problem solved, now, the entire world can marvel as MC show how "superior" he is without himself noticing.

I don't know why this is rated so highly, it might get better, but I suffered enough brain aneurysms to last a book. so I'll be dropping it

Just the most amusing lines in the novel

I laughed 2 days straight thinking about all the novels I have read

"The final truth... that this world is nothing more than a ‘novel’ written by a certain man would be buried with me. I only found out because I looked into Kim Hajin’s head

It was frustrating to find out that the four, five hundred years I suffered weren’t even mentioned in the damn novel, "

I like this novel simply because of the character development and nothing else.

All the other things like the plot, the system, the concept of magic power, spirit power, gifts, skills, arts, attributes all are convoluted mess, inconsistent and make no sense.

Good writing, good characters, good story. I like stories with OP isekai MC stacking up the powerups, so enjoyed that.

Doesn't get super-convoluted or s*upid, okay except maybe some stuff with Nayun.

I can't blame MC for being such a bad "father", but it made me uncomfortable anyway.

Dropped it 2/3 through, read the spoilers and doesn't look like I missed anything, just more of the same, so cool, moving on to another story, hopefully a five star that isn't longer than it should be.

  1. Since the story is taking place in a novel the MC has personally written, the MCs righteous acts comes out as hypocrite
  2. MC kills his girlfriend brother Chae.... because it needs to be done, but later we find out that only MC is week but those strong existence like Chae joechool (grandfather) they are very strong, so even if the brother had turned into devil
  3. The MC as a writer, considers every djinn as evil, but if you read the story it is clear that the setting is such that hard work, talent does not equal to success, so it's understandable, if people turned evil because the system was unfair
  4. MC gets too many buffs and it gets boring and irritating, when there is always a hidden/unused setting in the original novel which the MC didn't bother to use, but now it acts as a cheat

It's been a while since I've read this but from memory, it started off really well I'd say it peaked at a 4/5 I went on to try my hardest to finish this novel since I really liked it at the time but at one point I wanna say in the latter half it started going downhill the novel doesn't have a tragedy tag atm but it needs one if this novel isn't tragedy idk what is anymore.

The situation between MC and another character was just depressing it was dragged... more>> on and shoved in your face so often
Spoiler

Way later on the situation improved but when it finally did I already didn't feel enthusiastic about the novel anymore (Felt like reading 100 ch of ntr, my soul left my body long ago)

and the story got repetitive I ended up reading it just to finish it since I really liked the story at the start but eventually, It got to the point where each chapter left a bad feeling behind as I read felt as if I was in a loop of stepping in dung and I eventually dropped it. I have real mixed feeling about this review because I really liked this novel in the beginning and to give it a 2/5 when it could have been so great but, well... you get my point. <<less

Showing a lot of potential in the early chapter, but as this author sucks ass at making an ending (cuz, it's like every novel that he wrote have a good start but he always rushes the ending which I hate that about him)

Our MC (Hajin) suddenly possessed somebody in his novel that he wrote which I think it's the author dream to be s**ked into his novel but then he realizes that the novel he wrote is s**ked and then he scratched all of his idea of writing a... more>> novel and just ended them with a sucks balls ending.

I mean, He didn't even give an effort in ending his novel which I hope that I didn't read this novel at all.

The game aspect element is great though, and it shows how our MC has grown, in a sense that he is getting stronger, we can see how Hajin really feels about his character creation, and then at the end, the world is suddenly ending (a lot of apocalypses, monster, djinn, meteor, etc) in which we don't even get a chance to look deeper at his life in the real world,

Arrgh, I mean I hate the author, not the novel. The novel is really good but it looks like the author got corona or som' which result in his brain malfunction and then cuz he wanted to go to the hospital to cure himself he decided to give us the most despicable ending in the history of novel. F**ck this sh*t

final score

Character development : 7/10

plot : 3/10 (start out strong and then the author got a brain malfunction)

re-readability : 0/10

pace : 8/10

story : -9999999/10

final score : -1, 999, 996.2 (yes I use calc. For this)

is this a good novel ? Yes, but the author is sucks balls so the novel become sucks ball as well <<less

This novel was honestly a great read. Kudos to the author for the endless creativity and not adhering to the classic overpowered, undefeatable MC trope. The character development is excellent, and I absolutely love seeing the character change and grow as the story progresses. The MC is not perfect. His flaws are not concealed, and readers can see how each of the situations and enemies he encounters allow him to grow.

The novel definitely made me shed a few tears, and the author did a great job in adding an emotional aspect to the plot. However, this novel seems to lack the "show don't tell" aspect that should be apparent in great novels. There is a lack of descriptions and readers are dependent entirely on their imagination to understand how characters, objects, settings, fighting scenes look.

Furthermore, things seem to happen too fast. The plot sometimes has too many things happening at ones which led to numerous plotholes and easily left readers confused.

Despite the excellent character development, the character relationships still needed to be fleshed out. The development of the relationship between Kim Hajin and Chae Nayun is excellent, but for the other characters, it seems to be severely lacking. I especially wanted to see more bromance / friendship with Kim Suho and Kim Hajin, and the inconclusive ending fails to tie up the unrequited love between different characters.

On that note, the ending was definitely a disappointment. There were too many questions left unanswered and new situations and plots were presented that left readers hanging on a great cliff. I listed only a few of all the questions I had towards the end of the book below.

Spoiler

What happened with the relationship between Kim Hajin and the friends that failed to remember him yet? What did Chae Nayun end up doing with the regression stone? How did Rachel and Yoo Yeonha solve their unrequited love towards Kim Hajin? What happens with Jin Sahyuk and why was she presented as the concluding character of the novel? What happened to Medea and Genkelope's spaceship once Kim Hajin "disappeared"? Did they lose their commander and did Medea still ended up descending? What happened to Fenrir the Mercenary's identity and was he also forgotten? How did Kim Hajin explain his apparent loss of powers to his friends and what do they know?

[collapse]

I personally do not think it deserves more than 4 stars due to the APPARENT plotholes throughout the plot as well as the slightly disappointing conclusion.

TL;DR --> This novel is a great novel to use to pass time. You might spend a little bit of time racking up your brains thinking about how certain situations came to be, however, it's a good novel nonetheless.

I found this novel on one of the recommended list, and I agree that this is a good read, fairly different from other generic type (in my opinion). Of course it has its weakness and negative parts but its tolerable and the strength has kept me reading it.

It was a great pleasure speed reading it through one week and even made me jump right to the ending to see a glimpse of the end (hoping for a happy ending).

The multiple support characters are written well and the interaction with the... more>> MC is good, in fact sometimes I would wish for filler chapters to explore the side characters (but the current is just fine, short and concise, instead of those >1500 draggy chapters for some LN).

A small glimpse of potential harem, with most supporting girls have good intention to the hero but he ended monogamy. A good choice but I do feel sad for the other girl (who I felt he does like initially and should still like).

Anyway, a good read and I'm satisfied (enough to write this review). <<less

I LIKE THIS STORY SO MUUUUCH. Hahaha. Thumb up for author and translator. Tho most of the characters are female and it's definitely a Harem (but the ML never thought about it and end up with the person I never thought about), I like it. However the 140+ chapters kinda... too fast? But nah. I still like it tho.

Solid novel. Characters seem to faint a lot due to emotional overload though. MC is one to avoid confrontation or develop strong relationships with other characters but it happens regardless. Worldbuilding is standard for Korean modernday-fantasy webnovels.

Ending may leave a lot to be desired haha. Wish the MC fixed up some of his relationships at the end.

Overall 3.5. Not bad but definitely not close to being great. Despite the the super powers of story settings, the MC used them in idiotic ways.

Also the ending killed the story for me. Though the side chars had good build up the MC feel hollow at best. No personality to be noted for. Maybe the writer intended this way as he trully feels like an extra. A Nobody.
Spoiler

for example I get he is an "extra" in real world. But after knowing the truth abt the world and claiming he misses and is sad he decided to remain in lower realm (novel) world. With so many s*upid chars and plot holes he made. This just killed the novel for me. I thought he might go back and fix or write better novels and enjoy other such co-auther stories. He could have a more enjoyable life and see his novels comes to an end. As the author he forgot that fiction was not real.

Honestly it wasn't that bad, it has a great start and is fairly entertaining. What turns me off is with the girls and just how there's a lot of misunderstanding going on and I tell you this stuff can get annoying as it kept on going on. I hated almost every girl that gets paired with the MC and just how much a push over he is when it comes to them like come on man! Tell them straightly what is and what is not and don't just keep quiet... more>> and let the misunderstandings continue. I also don't like how the girls just kept in pushing their will to him! I'm quite frustrated on this aspect and can't really continue reading it. <<less

This is by far one of the best novels I had read online. In this story it is important to note that this story isn't like the 2000+ Japanese Isekai or Chinese cultivation stories that are the same with no change in character and some how everything works out in the end with plot device. In this story the MC isn't suddenly followed around by women who are attracted to him by simply looking at him. Instead it takes time, and a lot of time for these relationships to evolve.... more>> The character interactions between the MC and the Main Characters aren't perfect in the beginning and he is largely hated in the beginning of the story and made fun of due to some "unconventional" decisions, with their relationships slowly becoming better as time goes on. Overall, I have not given this story with this simple review but I'm too lazy to actually write down every little good thing about this story. Still this is by far one of my favorite novels I have read online. <<less

Just finished reading The Novel's Extra!!!

Honestly speaking I liked it I've took an interest reading this novel long before it was completed but because of horrible reviews of this novel, I've put it off and I'm disappointed of myself for doing so.

This novel was actually a good one for me and binged it till I've finished reading it! Though that's why I liked reading completed novels to avoid cliffhangers, but that's just me.

So now! I'm not gonna overthink about horrible review regarding this novel, I need to be neutral. Reading... more>> the good reviews and the bad reviews is okay but having them make a decision for you to read or watch something is up to you.

The novel itself was great I liked the author's point of view regarding the story line and the point of view regarding the MC. I liked how it feels like your reading a novel over a novel, quite entertaining for me. I also fell in love with the supporting characters the author made them well and detailed. And good job on making the scenes and the different arcs of the story it always put me in a surprise.

The thing I disliked is the abrupt change on the scene which often does this really did not help when I pause on some chapters. It is a good idea to do this so to make a semi-cliffhanger-ish vibe but doing it so often gets me confused in where the story is going and who or what is happening I would double check myself first if I skipped a chapter because of this. Its a good element but switching the scene too often became confusing more so on the middle part of the novel.

Over all I've enjoyed reading the novel a lot. Kudos for the author for making a great novel. FYI: This rating is based on my opinion and how enjoyed reading this novel. I don't care what other thinks if I liked it, I liked it. <<less

An outstanding work compared to most other similar korean novels with game elements.

This novel presents a number of issues especially in the in the second half but it keeps being interesting and fun to read.

This novel avoids most of the common tropes of other similar works, our MC keeps levelling and gets incredibile borderline broken buffs but the side characters aren't forgotten and the situation never evolves in our MC soloing stuff, he keeps being an "extra", a flashy and really strong one, but he never solves major plot situations... more>> by himself.

The main cast of characters are well fleshed (the females at least) and they have their moments throughout the story. The romantic subplot is a bit underdeveloped but the ending is satisfactory so all is good in the end.

The major defect of this story is probably how in the second half of the story some situations are left unresolved, there are some elements that are introduced in but are not used enough or at all and are left there for no apparent reason.

Spoiler

The minigame girl (Litrain?) that is hinted can be summoned with the "buster call" but never appears again is a good example but pretty much everything related to DPs is tbh, the whole scenario was kind of left there when they enter the gate and that was a shame.

[collapse]

In the end, if you like korean novels such as I Alone Level Up or Seoul Station Necromancer this is pretty much an improved version with better plot, characters and narration, while not perfect by any means it has everything a good story should have and is overall one of the best stories I've read on this site. <<less

For all the issues the latter half (especially near the end) of the novel had, I still enjoyed the ride. Especially during his cube days, Hajin has been an interesting character to watch develop. While I wouldn't recommend a new reader this novel because of the huge issues and poor ending, I had fun.
