In her previous life, Li Qinghe married into the Xu family with pomp and splendor but was treated coldly and ignored by everyone in the household she married into. She eventually died of an illness to make way for her husband’s white moonlight.

However, she woke up again, this time with prior knowledge of herself being just a cannon fodder in a sweet romance novel. In the original novel, Qinghe had saved the male protagonist’s life and then asked him to marry her as repayment. She then made the lovers’ lifetime a hell because of her jealousy. Now that she had returned to the past and been given a second chance at life, Li Qinghe decided to change her way of living. She resolved to stay away from the male and female protagonists. It was still important to save his life for the story to continue, but that kindness would be exchanged for silver, and she would leave instead.

But unexpectedly, the original male protagonist was not reconciled to this and rushed to become entangled with her. She had a violent temper and rolled up her sleeves, intending to hit him. Another man beside her saw this and felt very distressed. Hurriedly taking her hand and squeezing it gently, he said, “Be good. If you’re not careful, your hand will hurt. You should stand aside and let me do such menial work.”

In his last life, Zhou Chengkang had built and maintained a large tombstone in front of Li Qinghe’s grave for his entire life after her death. He regretted not expressing the feelings in his heart to her many times. He then died, still carrying that regret.

When he opened his eyes again, he found that he was reborn and had returned to the time before she had gotten married to Xu Changjie. The beautiful lady was again alive and graceful, drawing at his heartstrings. He couldn’t help but want to take her into his arms.

This time, he won’t miss his chance again.

Double rebirth; a story of a husband and wife farming together and living with scums.

It's good to read a slice of life without too much up and downs.

Apart from her going back, everything else is quite normal and realistic (?

I can understand her character, and agree that she's kinda boring but to be honest I think that's necessary in a slice of life, no OP MC. I saw that this author has other transmigration novels so i'll take a look.

... more>> I liked her stepsister at the beginning, then she changes completely in a worse way, sad.

Romance is meh, I mean, you can't expect that much in a novel that happens in the countryside, whit arranged marriages at a young age, dowries and such. I guess he liked her looks in the first life, or bc they grew up together (? Idk.

The original ML/FL couple are not so relevant. This novel is not about revenge but MCs second chance, family and business. <<less

Slice of life country side old china. I don't know what dynasty but feels closer to modern ancient china.

The romance is not the focus. There isn't really that much sweetness but just more like a building of a farm / business flourishing slice of life of ancient china and those kind of familial dynamics.

In fact, I would argue that the villains deliberately get more screen time than the ML overall lol BECAUSE this is farming ancient china slice of life, it feels like the author is very self aware that... more>> without any issues, it would be I guess a. Unrealistic and b. Boring as all f*ck. But tbh the villains and bad events get too much screen time. To the degree, I feel like the author doesn't know how to build a story based on the leads at all. Because it barely focuses on them.

I literally just have to cherish the bits of paragraphs when they say "oh the boys hung out" "she gets along with her half sibling now" I mean at least it's a paragraph but if you really think about it, all the good events are = telling versus all the bad events = showing. So I almost feel nothing towards anyone lol. I don't even care about the villains that much. Overall, a long slice of life exposition of a women who is a good character yes but not fully fleshed out to the degree she could have been.

To be honest, the writing is very subpar and I think I'm very right. It had a lot of potential but also it was going nowhere and kind of floating as both it's writing and plot and you know it. Slice of life doesn't mean boring or suffering so it's not the genre ok.

I truly think the only fleshed out character was her father. In fact I bet you he gets more of a plot and character screen time than anyone combined. And for that reason, he is one of the biggest pros of this novel. <<less

Everyone has said it - a short, sweet slice of life farming story with rebirth of both ML and FL as the base plot.

It's a relaxing read, with few toxic relatives - in fact, all the characters in the families are realistic. The mother-in-law isn't a demon just someone who wants her sons to be close thus making life a wee bit unpleasant.

It's a great read and it's not rushed ending at all

A simple story that can get a bit repetitive at times and you do wish the FL lead participate more in everything. ML was sweet! I read a comment saying we don’t know why he fell in love with her but we do know he was seeing her nearly everyday when she went to work for town, so I think one can safely assume they developed some sort of friendship / acquaintanceship through that.

Hate her husband from the last life and his girlfriend, they imo did not get a befitting... more>> end for what they did in the last life and now they behave in this life. Also absolutely loathed the ML’s eldest brother and wife.

Anyway I’m giving 4 stars because it is an easy read and because you see actual character development from FL’s father. I actually think a novel about her parents would have been more interesting to read. <<less

This is a very lighthearted novel focusing on a young couple after their rebirth. They missed each other in their first life but in this one they are so in love whilst also working hard to become wealthy. It's a slow progression and not overnight wealth. I really enjoyed it but I feel the ending of our villains was just haphazardly added near the denouement. Not satisfying at all. I wish she got some justice in her first life as well. The last chapter had my heart though 💔

Slice of life story of the FL and ML in the rural areas. From rags to riches. FL does not have any golden finger and is merely reborn. But even then she doesn’t change or alters the future in any way. They just focus on living their best lives.

This is a slice of life and family oriented story. Revenge and face slapping isn't involved as the MC would rather live her life well. The family dynamic is interesting and has ups and downs along with some nice to see growth. The ML is wonderful and their relationship is just sweet and wholesome.

I would have liked a bit more of her friend Yu Yan's storyline to be included because I really liked her. The friendship between her and MC is enjoyable.

It is a well paced story with only a... more>> few grammar issues and he is used to refer to the MC a couple of times, however it doesn't really affect the reading experience because you always know who they are talking about.

The relationship between the main couple is just so warm.

I enjoyed it. I would read it again. <<less

Overall the novel was good. Both MC and ML had given a 2nd life. Both don't relay in future happening or anything. Both also are not overpower or have a golden finger. They use basic knowledge and hardwork to have a successful life.

This novel was good to read.

Love it. No cheat, no magic, no otherworldly beauty or superhuman strength, just a pair of sensible, intelligent, hard working, and good natured man and woman who made good use of their second chances to avoid past mistakes and live a better life.

The conflicts in the novel are of neighbourhood levels, stemming from normal human interactions in which everyone understandably has their own views, their own purposes, wanting to gain something for their own benefits, and in doing so, frictions, clashes, and hard feelings naturally occur. This novel has a... more>> very realistic, and not overly dramatic story telling.

There is always something happening, and because the characters actions and thoughts feel so natural, the novel is very enjoyable to read.

Also, great translation and editing! <<less

I really a novel that focuses on the development of the reborn characters and their daily life. There is no excessive face slapping, just 2 people that want to live their lives and fiercely protect thier family. I love the irony that the lovers in the first life that insisted MC got between them, how their relationship was so flimsy because their flaws lead them to make disastrous choices that doomed their families and themselves. Honestly, I appreciate that this was a genuine farming slice of life with no involvement... more>> of the imperial family, which is rare to find <<less

This is a Peaceful life type of the story, everything is quite perfect, from the pace, the plot, the writing and wording also the whole character set. Overall the character were written beautifully and very much compatible with the background plot. If there is a less bit of set back for my personal liking is placed on the MC character. I'm not saying her character is bad, quite the opposite she is a very independent lady with decisive mind. I like her character a lot, however there is just a... more>> lack of uniqueness that made her character unfit as the MC. I mean being smart, independent and knowledge sure make her a strong character but there is still something missing that make it less appeal to me, idk.

Ive read a lot of this type of laid back story with laid back MC but almost all of them have a unique trait or vibe given by the author to showcase themselves as a main, but this one is too dim to me. Also the translation is quite good, it's just there is a time where the sentence were translated "Sono mama" (I couldn't remember the English word for it), without seeing the context or the literal meaning of it. But only some of it, so it's still fine.

I'm still giving it a 4 ⭐ as it's really a good one but I don't think I'm gonna continue to read it further.

This is a true slice of life farming novel. Very quiet and steady, down to earth, no earth shattering passions of love or hatred but a true devotion and a number of very realistic families are described.

Surprisingly good. Many thanks to the translator!

A very refreshing novel. A big F to those who put reviews that give spoilers without the spoiler tag.

This story is a breath of fresh air. You totally grow with the story and see how people change from your first impression, how the characters grow and how they end. This novel is worth reading and a 5 star to boot. It's totally different from all those dog blood dramas about farming out there. I'm so glad this novel appeared a true gem indeed.

I read this through mtl site.

I was able to finish reading.

The feelings between ML and FL are really good after the rebirth. Both of them got memories of their past lives.

The FL in the previous life died from poisoning and the ML guarded her tomb, after the rebirth, they got together, got married and had 2 sons

It is a pleasing slice of life with intricate family relationships even if I would have loved more face slapping. But our mains are practical people whose main motivation is to built a good life without golden finger or heaven defying talents. It’s just a 4 for me because the lasts chapters are a bit bland and you can feel that it’s the tidying up of the main story threads. It would be interesting though to have some follow up on some side characters

3.5 ⭐️

it's a nice slice of life story low on the drama. The summary would have you think there was more dog blood with the way the ex was entangled but in truth they didn't really do it much. The ex's family had a poor end this life but not because MC tried to get revenge. The Yang family was more annoying than the ex. Honestly he left her alone for most of the novel, it was usually the Yang family that rushed to borrow money without paying back or... more>> being copy cats. Honestly she cut them out of her life, didn't seek them out nor did she let them try to insert themselves into her life. She was very much interested in a low stakes life with no drama. But with former stepfamily like the Qians and a big family like the Zhous it's impossible to avoid drama. Like not even her mother who became another man's concubine brought her drama. But there wasn't anything really bad like war or famine. At most there was theft and bandit like behavior.

To be honest it's a very forgettable novel. Probably won't reread. While I finished it quickly it didn't really linger in my mind. It's a farming novel that stays a farming novel unlike other popular "farming" novels *cough* fields of gold *cough*. She might have a business selling fish but she's not driven by it. She really only cooked for a few chapters. Her main focus is farming and living a simple life without being excessive. As long as her basic needs are fulfilled and they can have a little fun without worry or attracting bad things then that's good enough for her. They work hard and aren't greedy. Greed tended to be the downfall of many people in the book. The stepsister had potential but again greed gets you and there's not medicine for regret

edit: I almost forgot. They're a brief mention that she's a transmigrator who read the book but in all honesty it didn't need to happen. A rebirth/second chance was all she needed. Knowing it was a novel didn't really change anything for her she was just a footstone to the OG main couple. The "bad" woman to make the OG FL look good even though she was working like a horse for her ex. She doesn't have much modern sensibilities and only kinda used modern farming techniques but nothing extreme. The reveal that they were both reborn was meh, too calm I guess they didn't really touch on it.

I know some people say MC lacks affection I disagree. She's just unbothered. MC likes her parents well enough but is mature enough to understand her parents have their own lives and make their choices even if she isn't on the same page as them. Her mother did provide for her after she left and eventually accompanied her at times. Her father never treated her badly and even tried his best during her first life to keep her from a bad marriage (which went through unfortunately) and did funeral rites for her that her scum ex in laws didn't. She does more filial piety than others think is necessary/normal, and makes her MIL aware that just because it makes MIL insecure and unhappy she isn't going to stop unless there is a good reason aka the relationship to her parents was bad. And that's the truth for most of her relationships. If you're good to her she'll match your energy. But be bad and she'll cut you off but in a polite way (unless of course the bottom line is touched).

MC loves her husband honestly very cute and a bit of dog food. But their romance is low key. They're very devoted to each other, supportive and protective. ML is thankfully not jealous of his own kids and doesn't care if he only has a few kids & that they're all boys he won't push for more. But at the same time I struggle to understand the source of the MLs affection. There was never a scene where it explained it. At least for her we knew she liked him because he guarded her grave in the past life through good and bad unlike her cheating scum ex husband. She knew that even if he was poor she would be his number one.

My favorite character was her friend Yu Yan. Honest and dependable, very skilled and independent, she has her own way of success. She even picked up a handsome boy with a tragic past to be her husband. She honestly seems like she'd be a candidate for a typical dog blood novel MC. In fact near the end they introduced such a plot but in my opinion such a thing was frivolous and unnecessary unless it was a set up for a sequel. But as far as I know it's not. They were supporting cast so it didn't really need to happen. If they wanted them off screen the author didn't have to mention them much.

Spoilers below mainly my gripe around the 1st brother/his plot & Mother Zhou.

Spoiler

You go in not liking the 3rd branches wife because she's spoiled, unruly and a bit lazy. But she matures after getting a reality check and isn't as lazy & gets along with MC. Shes sharp tongued but not against her trusted ones.

At first I like the oldest couple and mother zhou but the greediness of 1st couple was too much and you grow to dislike them. Like at first the 1st 2nd and 4th branch got along better and they did things equally. But things changed due to separation caused by 1st boy.

The oldest son is a moron if he didn't have brothers waiting behind him to marry, he wouldn't have been allow to marry a widow. I have no problem with remarriage but to bring in her former mother in law and let the MiL take all the profit off selling your wife's family recipe is crazy. And that old woman even beyond the grave just made so much trouble. They moved into her town home after she died, okay fine she bought it with the money you earned but then they started to act as if they were rich, bought nice clothes and showed off jewelry, not taking care of mother zhou even though it's usually the oldest (meanwhile MC had a lot of land and money while being humble, let MIL move in bc MIL was lonely) then they got robbed because they were such show offs and yet didn't learn their lesson since later on they picked up random bags of money they found. Like MC and ML helped them out even after their relationship turned sour. But it took prison for them to finally learn and be more low key.

But nah personally I wouldn't have helped them. After they accused my husband of purposely losing their kid as revenge for a childhood incident (oldest boy and third boy purposely lost ML imo probably bc there were too many mouths to feed and lacking providers) but the kid was inside the whole time. Like 3rd boy never did them harm or overthought it, he thought things were settled with ML inheriting stuff from the man that saved him as a kid. But 1st boy had in the back of his mind that it was the first thing to pop out when his kid got lost. I could never trust or help someone after such a thing but they're better than me I guess.

Mother zhou started off good, she had boundaries and was firm but after all her kids were married off & the grandkids were born she was more focused on them and got muddled. Her oldest boy keeps disappointing her but it's her oldest so she expects things from him. Like the bad relationship between 4th branch (our main couple) and 1st she kept meddling likely because she didn't want her oldest to be cut off from the family since fourth branch was more of a figurehead for Zhou family.

Mother Zhou: why don't you get along for the children's sake. Help out the first branch from their mistakes because they have a child 🥺 they're your family 🥺 don't be angry with them you know they were just scared and didn't mean it. 🥺 Reconcile 🥺

She also got unhappy whenever MC was generous to her parents like her dads 2nd wife was awful, overworked him and eventually left him (only trying to come back when she was desperate) MC helped him out many times with food farming medicine etc until he married his 3rd wife and even then they were still filial. Anytime MCs mother stayed with them even for a short visit MiL got insecure and kept asking when she would leave. Eventually MCs mother and half brother moved back permanently, MiL wanted her out of MCs house and for MC to stop helping her. Like why are you mad they're still helping her family, they have more than enough money to take care of you and her parents.

Side note I thought little moments with her half brother were cute. He's a cute and sensible child though I don't like his wife much. Though I blame it on how she was introduced. It was just weird and a little vulgar for the setting.

I tolerated reading this, mostly because I could turn my brain off and not think too deeply. It wasn't well written or interesting. It was the bare minimum of slice of life with a plot that has been done a thousand times and others do it better.

The FL is a blank paper. She is reincarnated from modern times but only a few references are made to this. Only two or three, if you skimmed you might not notice it. The focus is on her rebirth after coming to ancient times... more>> and her tragic death.

The FL is largely apathetic and while I appreciated her bluntness the author could have explored a few more favorable aspects of her character.
Spoiler

Her few interactions with Yan Yan (don't remember her name, the embroidery girl) weren't enough for me to like her as a character.

[collapse]

She is the standard MC striving for a better life. At least the author spared me the cooking plot line. It started but stopped.
Spoiler

She sold a kimbap recipe. There were mentions of her having other things to make and sell but the author went in a different direction.

[collapse]

The romance was even more lack luster which is a skill in and of itself. The writer manages to make every interaction between the two feel either forced, childish, boring, or obligatory. I'm not even convinced the FL likes the ML. He was just the better choice in this life.

Spoiler

I don't even know why he liked her enough to guard her grave for a lifetime. The author did this to show his dedication, but without the proper justification it became a gimmick instead of a story line. The problem is that they don't have a getting to know you phase. When I analyzed it she married at 15 or 16 in her last life a she and the ML had passing interactions but weren't close. The segregation of male and female unless intending to marry was emphasized at the start. The she died and he guarded her tomb and she watched him do that. That's it. The have daily interactions but not a single frank conversation. I don't know anything about the ML because they don't talk. It would be different if the FL wasn't written as a bold and frank person, but she's like that with everyone but the ML. They even dance around the issue of them both being reborn for more than half the book for no reason. It was tedious instead of being interesting or sweet.

[collapse]

They did business, got rich. Enough said.

These novels usually have too large a cast and it's easy to forget them but this story had the opposite problem. When I heard about her half sister or slept mother I knew how the next fe chapter would go. No one in this story changes or shows any growth. They also lack intelligence, except for the ML, FL and her close friends of course. <<less
