I Don’t Dare to Oppose a Protagonist Anymore

Lin Xiao was addicted to reading Qidian novels. He always fantasized that he would have a day when he could transmigrate and then embrace beautiful women all over the whole world, becoming the strongest person in the mainland.

After he really transmigrated, Lin Xiao stubbornly always believed that he was a protagonist until he met Ling Luo.

Only after being killed by Ling Luo did he know that he was only a cannon fodder villain in a novel.

When he restarted his life and hatefully wanted to oppose his fate at least once, he was ruthlessly crushed again.

Okay then… since a protagonist was determined to be like this, he wouldn’t oppose a protagonist anymore…

The two of them were similarly straight guys…

When he restarted his life again, Ling Luo unexpectedly suffered a Love Herb’s poison…

Lin Xiao internally cried as he looked at a certain person who tied him onto an obelisk in the back and thought, who could tell him what this was all about?

Please note that I don't condone what the ML did to the MC after that first accident, but I can acknowledge why it happened and why he chose to take such drastic measures.

Ok, first things first, this story has character growth, more or less realistic views and thought processes, and the good and meh parts.

I love the character growth, I love how every choice they made has their own reasons, and I love how the good parts compensated the meh parts.

Like how the ML decided to r*pe MC because he thought it'd be his last chance, which by the way, is beyond horrible. No matter how life goes, drugging someone and papapa-ing them without their consent is XXX no.

[collapse]

I don't agree with it, but after considering many aspects on the ML, his actions are understandable. It's basically red flags all over, but in my personal opinion, the aftermath made up for it.

This story isn't recommended for those with sensitive hearts, nor is it recommended for those looking for some papapa scenes. For those who are still thinking of reading this novel, please keep your mind open and always ask; why did they do it? <<less

This book has its good and bad, the author seems a bit inexperienced and probably a small author, there's mistakes here and there but its still a fun read, and the characters point of view were realistic as well.. Anyway I enjoyed the book, except for some silly sarcastic and rude comments the translator have for the author mistakes everything else is fun. But look at the tags first before you read, all the papapa scene were r*pe here, don't read if you can't stand r*pe

It has a lot of plot hole, and I think It became a little bit ridiculous a couple of chapters before it end. I think it has alot of potential to be a really cool story, but end up being an Ok so so story

I also think the author get lost in the middle, and didn't know what she/he want

I feel a little bit disappointed

But despite all that, I give 3.5 or 4 star for a realistic relationship

I didn't finish this and I don't know if I will, but if I had to rate it, it'd be a 3 or 4.

I enjoyed the first 50 ish chapters. MC realizes, after being killed off by the protagonist, of his previous s*upidity and arrogance and decides to live differently--I like that. It's his first step toward character development, and there is a bit of growth as the plot progresses.

I also like how neither of them are purely good people. It makes sense considering they're in a cultivation novel where... more>> thieving and mu*dering is supposedly commonplace as long as you have the power, and what do you know? These two do exactly that. It's a nice change of pace from the other completely righteous and do good leads.

It's just that the first r*pe scene made things really uncomfortable. I read the tags, I know. I knew what I was getting into. But I guess I was in my own happy bubble of brotherhood and slowly falling in love that the awkwardness and hurt from the r*pe scene just felt like a splash of cold water. MC definitely had the right to feel upset, and ML definitely should apologize a thousand times over--but it felt like the r*pe wasn't really all that necessary and was kind of really unpleasant?? (Yeah duh, what am I even saying) I felt like, even without the r*pe forcing them to think about how they feel about each other, they would've realized their feelings slowly over time, or a burst of jealousy would push them closer, or they would mature and be actual adults about their feelings--but nah, that didn't happen.

Also, ML started feeling a bit weird so... bye.

There are some other stuff, like canon fodder villains and unbearable female side characters--all very typical of these types of novels. It feels a bit tiring and flat after a while.

I might pick this up again when I'm in the mood, but for now, I'm putting this down. <<less

2.5 out 5

Honestly felt kind of "meh" for most of the novel. I didn't really feel for the couple and while it was slow-burn, I felt like the romance could have been more fleshed out (but that's just my opinion). The translation quality was great and while this isn't a favourite for me, it's certainly not the worst BL I've read. I can see the appeal for some readers (just not me personally)

There was a lot of time spent on attending and getting into certain cultivation places but after... more>> that they just become irrelevant plot devices which was a little annoying as well. Like a lot of people I really didn't like the:

Spoiler

the r*pe was NOT okay but it happened relatively late into the story that I just wanted to push forward and finish it. Unfortunately it occurs more than once

[collapse]

I also felt that the whole:

Spoiler

MC killing ML's parents and the butterfly effect of it all to be a bit much (especially since they ended up being alive in the end) it just felt like the author was unnecessarily trying to create tension and drama between the leads

[collapse]

tl/dr: didn't ship the characters, couldn't feel the romance, did not approve of some plot devices used <<less

I liked the fact that in the end MC regretted getting close to protagonist he thought he should have been passerby not always helping protagonist make you reap only profits their are suffering to and they aren't worth it

Read the novel, liked it quite a bit, the quality of translation is also really good. Only in chapter 52 where censure begins author said that the cut scenes will be published after the main story ends and the translators' team confirmed that they have access to those parts. But there weren't any until the end and I couldn't find them no matter where I searched. Can someone provide a link? It's ok even if it's in Chinese, I will use Google translate.

I really enjoyed this story. Though I wish it was longer. For those of you who are wondering if it's a HE. Yes it's a HE which is why I decided to write a review.

I don't hate the ML. Both MC and ML have their own issues. To me I even prefer the ML because he was bold enough to admit his own feelings, something the MC didn't.

I just finished reading this and I dont think it’s as bad as how other make it to be. Its a really fast read, I only read for a whole day but still felt somehow attached to the characters.

Spoiler

the ending, was no doubt, felt too abrupt. I wished there was more. I loved how it was different from ssvss and every time the protagonist wants to capture me wherein the protagonist suddenly loves them wholeheartedly just because of their change. The slow burn in the romance was just appropriate. The r*pe scenes were ofcourse sad but I think it just shows how different their world is to ours? Like the first one was literally nobody’s fault, or rather both of their faults? And that’s just how dangerous it was to wander around unfamiliar territories. The harem members were just meh, didnt really affect the story much, ji quan is a good brotherr, huangshi shan (?) is a goal hahahahaha. I just really wanter more closure at the end. For me, the story was still kinda unique. Ling luo didn’t become annoyingly addicted, he waited and really showed his sincerity. Lin xiao didn’t just suddenly forgave the ML just because he was cutr or smthng like that. It felt so realistic, the misunderstandings were annoying but it was a really unexpected ride. I thought this was gonna be a light read but my heart had to be hurt a few times. I still like how their feelings developed, probably not gonna read just because its too short and I’d probably remember the plot twists and wouldn’t feel excitement.

The beginning was very good, the story seemed to lead to the first scene of r * pe unnecessary, I just kept reading for the personality of MC, because I find it very interesting when a character has a character deviation, it makes him more human (having defects and not being a perfect good Mr.), I wanted to know how the author would develop this. But then we arrived at the second r * pe scene and at that point I was very stressed, once I can try to forgive... more>> or just pretend it never happened, but twice is too much.

Still, I was stubborn, I can say that I read on the strength of hate with a little hope that the story would be saved because the plot seemed too good to have so much wrong. The feeling I had was that the author had an idea when he wrote until the end, but at some point there he changed his mind and made a twist that didn't make any sense until he reached the end.

The ending was "good" due to all the events, but it didn't make me happy. In fact, I was already unhappy with the r * pe scenes and was even more so when there was a confinement.

About MC, what I expect from someone who starts with a deviation of character: 1- becoming a villain; 2- redeem yourself. This MC does neither, there is no personality growth.
About ML, just as MC was not a good person, but it is worse due to the confinement scene, he was a complete ass and an a**hole.

Romance: 0.0 points

Rating: 3.5/5- This could have been great, except that the chemistry that could have come naturally was ruined by a very unnecessary r*pe scene.

There was something unnatural between the MC and ML thereafter in this novel. The cultivation was also lacking and the sudden character change to Yandere just didn’t make sense. Personally these two characters should not be together.

After finishing this novel, all I felt was nothing but frustration. The MC was likeable and he wasn't who you would consider OP. He had character growth and at the beginning of the novel, I actually enjoyed the dynamic of the MC and ML. Sadly, it all went downhill in one particular moment.

Spoiler

MC believed that he had killed ML's parents after becoming temporarily mad from ingesting a herb.

[collapse]

I could see how the author tried to make make the readers feel angst but all I can think in my head was everything the ML did after that was not necessary, just drama for the sake of drama. There were also side characters that had the potential to be interesting but was forgotten by the author at one point.

I did enjoy some aspects of the story but I would not recommend this novel to a friend. <<less

This was a pretty good novel. The brotherhood between the MC and ML in the beginning was very sweet. So the first half of the story was sweet and funny but the second half was just gloomy and depressing.

Spoiler

When the ML r*ped the MC I didnt think it was actually his fault. It was because of the grass that he did this. But when he offered himself to the MC in Hope's that their relationship could go back to being how it was, I actually felt pretty touched. I felt I the ML really did care for the MC. But thennnnnnn the MC thinks he killed the MLs parents and the ML destroys his cultivatation and traps him for 10 years. 10 freaking years! I felt so bad for for the MC. Just kill the poor guy already! However the ML restores the MCs cultivation and they learn that the MLs parents are still alive. The ML once again begins pursuing the MC. All in all I had mixed feeling about this. Even though the ML fixed the MCs cultivation, what about the times he thought he would go crazy when he trapped him????? I get that at the end when the MC decides to travel around the world, the ML went looking for him and told him that he almost completely fell apart without him, but that doesn't satisfy me. The relationship was just too sad but I loved it.

[collapse]

The novel is very well written and kept me interested until the very end which is very rare for me since I usually get bored after 40 or 50 chapters.

Spoiler

A minor problem I had was with the ending. How come the couple is traveling together and all of a sudden the MC decides that they should be together??? It felt rushed and by the time I was done with the last chapter my reaction was, "Wait. That's it?He confessed just like that? That wasnt even a confession though."

[collapse]

Even though I hated some parts of this novel, I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it (even the parts I hated). <<less

I feel very conflicted about this novel. Giving it 4 stars as it wasnt as bad as some people portray to be, at times however I really felt annoyed, but I have found the story interesting enough. It was hard to read due to the situation, felt I wanted to end the characters myself then and there.

1st of all the pace is slow. There is no romantic relationship between them until late in book. (which I dont mind as I like cultivation novels so I still enjoyed it). But even... more>> then when things start to develop its just a huge mess... Lack of communication between the MC and ML (on top of them being dumb about their own feelings).

What also I found annoying is that both of them are supposedly from 21 century yet their views on gay relationships are so hmm backwards... Im not saying every straight man is tolerant of it nowadays but people are open about it and its not unheard of.

I like dark dominating obsessive characters that want to imprison and hide their counterparts, behaviour which the ML displays from time to time so be warned if you dont condone that sort of thing....

In general I think it was an ok read, once but not meant as reread. But sometimes I felt im self-harming myself reading it haha... I dont really know how to describe the feeling. <<less

When I finish, I'm not sure when that'll be as this story doesn't make me feel enthusiastic, I'll give it a star rating.

However, up until this point of my reading I can only say that I do not like or sympathize with either the MC or ML. It also reminds me of why I dislike transmigration story, especially book transmigration. I mean, transmigration story is so common that I can dismiss the transmigration start of the story so long as the characters and thereafter story is interesting, but I can't... more>> say I feel this way for this story.

Maybe the author will somewhat touched upon it, but I won't put too much expectations on that simply because there's already so many things that doesn't make sense from the start. For example, ML being piss poor to suddenly a rich kid. Protag excuse? Yea, no. Not to mention, we not only get 1 transmigrator, but 2 transmigrators in both the MC and ML. Plus, a rebirth and re-transmigration of the MC. That's a feat I'm doubting the author atm.

One day I'll finish it and revise my review. <<less

Abrupt but sweet ending. This is a very heavy-angst reading, so if you are into fluff, this is not for you.

I would have liked to see at least one consensual papapa scene, the only-noncon kinda ruins the ML

Pros: One thing I can say is: "Character Development"

The essence of the story is realistically described. The like-a-roller coaster-ride-of-emotions is so genuine and beautifully written. I liked how the story went from 1 to 100 and 100 to 1, maybe just because I am a masochist of a a reader and especially the angst and fluff are greatly interwoven. You would get teary eyed, annoyed, feel wholesome etc. I'll probably remember this for awhile.

Cons: Some may be conflicted with the r*pe parts and honestly I kinda got annoyed with... more>> ML all through out but towards the ending I'll give him a passing score. I think the ending was a little bit rushed and I hoped the author described the settings in every scene a bit more. Also the transmigration part of the characters from the modern world was kinda useless~

This is my first time writing a review and I know the flow of my review is tr*sh~ I'll just say the story is quite a journey for both the ML and MC. <<less

Pleasant read with plotlines nicely concluded. Bit questionable ML but it has yandere tag so..... It's to be expected. Cute ending too,

I like that the MC is firm in their beliefs and makes his own decision about whether to be with the main lead. And holds the ML accountable for his actions

The novel isn’t bad.... the author is just very young with different mentality and you can feel it. I would give the novel 3 starts but I gave it one more star only due the translators and proofreaders. Mainly because I m from older generation and it makes me proud to see that young girls can see through that bullsh*t and not normalize r*pe to make it more comfortable. You need to have a healthy self awareness to realize that it is just a novel... so do not by all... more>> means think that it is a healthy relationship. Because it isn’t. <<less
