Ok, first of all, the premise. Basically, a person was transported then...... long story short, she became super strong and independent from her supposed family. SO WHY THE HECK DID SHE CAME BACK??? She is already independent, can kill her enemies easily, has a "great" reputation, and has supposedly numerous guys wanting to be inside her. The author seems to want to have a twist on the typical cliche stuffs but failed miserably.

Story: sh*t and sh*t and shit. Aside from being powerful, the only thing that changed from cliche... more>> stuff was that she is not bullied any longer. That's all. She still let every one do what they want to do and BE MANIPULATED. Honestly, I already know that this is used as escapism for those people who do not want to be bullied but f*ck! This is just s*upid.

Characters: Cliche characters. We have the typical evil villains and the cunning protagonist. Nothing really changed. Either they are 1d or 2d characters.

Overall, just another shitty novel that is created for self-indulgence. <<less

Seems like it'll be a pretty good novel but this is the first novel where I've had an issue with remembering all the different chinese terms. There's gotta be like 20 of them, unless this is your only novel that you read it will probably be very difficult to remember all the terms and names etc when you read new chapters.

Seriously who the remembers what being someones meimei means?

My first review written because I am pissed off. Here is the pros and cons.

Pros:

The mystery behind the war happened 15 years ago.

... more>> Cons:

1. I get that the MC and ML are so beautiful that flowers will commit su*cide. I get it but does the author have repeat it every freaking time a new character meets our couple. Downright irritating.

2. The villains are too one directional. A character sees our main character, instantly falls in love with one of them, eat vinegar because the couples acts lovey dovey, plan revenge, forgets they are power couple, dies or suffer more punishment, rinse and repeat.
Spolier ahead

Our MC is brought up by prime minister house with no one to love her. A country's princess will naturally be spoiled and pampered. If they don't get what they want, they throw tantrum. They are just 13-15 year old kids. She chops one princess's hands because she pissed, she kills another because the princess planned to kill her, she kills another woman just because she said she wants our ML, and as off the last update I read another princess appears probably to end up as another for the meat grinder, I gave up. The MC fails to act mature, she is a time traveller, she should ask the princess in a mature way to change their mind, if that fails, show them her might to warn them, inform the adults about it. But no, she hides her power and act as a useless character, pissing off princesses why they lost to a nobody, scheme to kill MC because she is powerless and gives our MC to unleash her might and get rid of them. You look at my hubby, I will kill you. Bullshit. And the worst thing, everyone praising how good the MC's character is. Ridiculous. <<less

DWGFF begins a few years after the female lead reincarnates, and we’re saved from reading through her struggles as a bullied underdog. Instead she’s had time to secretly become OP. As far as wuxia series go, this is probably the best advantage since MCs always have potential but have to race against the clock. Unfortunately she’s settled into a CWF-esque setting (well CWF a few dozen chapters in) – acting docile while waiting to be married off and coddled by a strong male lead, secretly excelling at everything. They then gloat over everyone else's misfortunes, as the story develops into a twisted soap opera, with occasional bursts of wuxia (but no thrill since they're both OP).
Spoiler

The author is not a fan of women, but she does seem to love in*estuous themes.

[collapse]

Overall, I think the series never really had the strongest set up and it just warped into something completely whack after. The first few chapters is probably the best it'll ever be and it only seems to go downhill from here.

Our MC is Murong Qi Qi, daughter of main wife but not favored because she doesn't know martial arts. This world is where people who know martial arts are very valued. Everything based on power/ability of your martial arts. The usual happened to MC original soul; framed, beat up, and died then our MC transferred into the original body.

Being a person from another world off course the story gives MC a cheat; she's a genius in martial arts now and got adopted by a powerful sect leader master in art... more>> of poison. Thus she is called by the name Du (poison) Xian (fairy) Er in the martial art world. From here on she has two personas Du Xian Er and Murong Qi Qi since that's the best course of action so you can revenge all you want. Lol

The revenge story happens as usual but this time she could schemes and fight back to all the people who mistreated the original soul.

I like that she is powerful so she doesn't need to worry about the fights. <<less

Dropped at c141p1. I will NOT be picking this up again

A repeating theme in this series is the saying there is no pill for regret. I quite agree. I will only have to live with the memory of this series, live with the regret of reading this.

First of, looking at it's general rating and my own rating, I am convinced that this series is purely for female readers. Otherwise, I can't see how it got such high ratings. In fact, I am not sure how even female readers felt... more>> this series was so good.

First of, we have the standard male and female leads. The female lead starts off strong, do the story starts off well on her part. However, there is absolutely zero credible character development for her aftet that.

The male lead has some spike. He seems to be the role model male lead in the eyes of the author. For me, he is far too perfect considering the context which I will talk more about. Like, his only flaw is he is too jealous when the female lead ante close to another man. This is surprisingly similar to other male villains in this series, except their women are r*ped unlike the MC.

Next up, the side characters. I didn't even want to take the effort to remember their names. The empress Dowager character has some character. The rest are non existent, be it for the plot, comedy or sweetness.

The antagonists. Aaaaah. The ONLY motivation for them seems to be the fourth law of Newton: Anything wrong with your life, including that bad coffee, is due to the female lead. Even if you literally only saw her once in your life. Like, people who are smart enough to run a country have just seen how dangerous this guy is and they also get advice from their close confidants but they still wanna go to destination f***.

I was thoroughly surprised when the author expected me to feel bad for people who got one paragraph explaining their bad personality before their death. And then... of course, the Murong sisters.

These people were finally (probably) dealt with in c139. They have been around from chapter 1 onwards. In ALL this time, their only motivation of anger towards the ML is a poorly explained jealousy and their faith in the above mentioned Newton's Fourth Law.

In fact, the first signs of people with actual character were a father-son pair whose character is... being sadistic rapists. Again, poorly explained. This author should honestly write NTR, looking at how well she built their character.

The so called sweet moments of this novel are probably highly female oriented as I failed to differentiate then from filler paragraphs.

This novel could have become such a wonderful dark and deep novel with the plot (I bet I can guess the plot till the end, but still it is half decent). Instead, the author just had to not know how to give a reasoning for a character to even exist in this novel.

I am deeply disappointed in this novel, especially considering it's high rating. Perhaps, this is a very highly female reader oriented novel but I don't buy that explanation.

I don't even remember what chapter I read this novel until but it doesn't matter. This novel is probably one of the worst novels I've ever read.

For an OP woman, I just find it so utterly ridiculous that MQQ is so useless. She's as Mary Sue as they come. This is one of the reasons why I hate reading stories with "OP" FL's. Often times they will be OP as OP can be but they don't seem to want to do anything and expect their S/O or other men around... more>> them to solve their problems for them. And let's not forget about the ML. He's freakin' ridiculous. I still don't understand why he fell in love with her. In reality, the main reason why I hated this novel so much was the fact that antagonists, mainly female antagonists, were dealt with via violent r*pe. This story just has so many tropes that I hated especially those that involved the degradation of women that I just couldn't bare to carry on.

This is just my opinion as one should not judge a novel from the opinions of another but should judge it for themselves. So, read this novel if you want but I personally would not recommend this to anyone. <<less

I really enjoyed the first part of the story, when the transmigrated soul in a weak body overturns schemes and outwits villains. The translation is very good. The story involves multiple countries and certain parts are exciting and fun. The last past of the story, where all the loose threads are tied up, was excellent.

However, as enjoyable as the story was, I had trouble reading parts of it for several reasons:

1. There are way too many chinese names and terms. Because of the similarity of Chinese names, cousins and siblings... more>> have very similar looking names, and they are called by their full names throughout the entire story.

I'd rather read about Fourth Miss Murong, Prime Minister Murong, rather than Murong Qing Lian, Murong Qi Qi, Murong Xin Lian, Murong Xin Yue, Murong Tai, etc. The cast is huge and almost everyone is referred to by their full name.

I can't remember the difference between XXY, XXS, XXK, XXE. I wish the translator had said Maidservant XXY, Concubine XXS, Empress Dowager XXK, Emperor XXE instead. I'd rather read Lotus Courtyard, rather than Cui Zhu yuan. Why not just say Empress instead of "huanghou"?

The translator even included all of the royal/servile pronouns - the king calls himself "zhen", the imperial wives call themselves "bengong", the prince calls himself "benwong", concubines calls themselves "qieshen", the empress dowager refers to herself as "aija" and the list goes on and on. Even the two stores in the plot have chinese names. Just translate them please.

I can't tell if Bei Zhou is a place, a name, a gem, a country, or a store. It's actually Northern Zhou country. Jue Se Fang should just be translated as Jue Se Fang Couture Shop. Shangguan Fei Yan should just be Empress Dowager Shangguan.

There are multiple chinese terms for every single relative, every single royal status, their homes, etc., There are just a lot of unnecessary, bewildering, chinese terms included and it makes the story very hard to follow over 200 chapters. The reading would be greatly improved if every name was prefaced by Maid X, Guard Y, Miss Q, Prime Minster R, Emperor W, Dr M, etc.

2. I've noticed that several chinese novels punish the female villains (usually pretty young jealous mean girls) with
Spoiler

abusive husbands/gang r*pe/anal/in*estuous r*pe to death/su*cide, as if because they are so evil, they deserve severe domestic violence/s*xual torture. Several girls have brains crazed by hate and jealousy, and they end up gang/in*estuous/an*l r*ped by crazy Imperial men/bandits, and it was just unnecessary and graphic. Waaaay too r*pey for me.

[collapse]
This book is very graphic in the villainess' punishments. Gross. There were many punishments that could have been less violent/rapey, and many insane monologues that could have been shortened.

Also, almost every villain is someone who turns evil because they want/lust after the too-beautiful male and female leads. This gets tedious. I've simply lost track of how many self-entitled ladies and princess want the male lead, and how many covetous men and princes and Emperors want the female lead.

3. There are 4
Spoiler

fake-in*est relationships in the middle of the story. Fake, because although one brother didn't actually touch his sister, he was insane and used substitutes. Another couple found out that they might be siblings (but they weren't). One brother found out his sister was someone else pretending with a face mask, so he... while the mask was on. And there was an adoptive brother who developed insane possessive feelings towards his adoptive sister. Waaaay too in*est-y for me.

[collapse]

The main couple are many superlatives - in a span of 5 years she becomes
Spoiler

the world's number 1 doctor, fashion designer, jewelry designer, poison master, martial artist female

[collapse]
, in addition to being the most beautiful woman - he is super handsome/talented/martial artist, etc. It's over the top, but I can overlook that in a story. There is little character development and the plot does drift quite a bit.

On the good side, the translation is excellent, the male lead is very good towards the female lead, and the story is wrapped up very well. There is a very long epilogue that includes the love stories of the main couple's children, which was well done. <<less

First chapter had me hooked and I went in with high expectations, but this novel failed miserably. The FL's character becomes a mess. She was bullied in her family when she was young, but then she got super powerful. However, she continues to stay in that horrible family of hers and lets people continue to bully her. It is also annoying how she hides her face for like the first 100 chapters. Apparently she's drop dead gorgeous, but she puts on something that makes her look ordinary. Her reasoning is... more>> that it is more convenient... Okay, but even AFTER SHE GOT MARRIED, she continued to use this disguise with her HUSBAND?!?!?

And she is super powerful and can destroy anyone in a second. But the author's reasoning for keeping those enemies alive is that the FL is too lazy to deal with these supposed "ants", who by the way keep on causing her trouble. I don't like how her character is full of secrets and literally it will kill you because she does not bothering telling her HUSBAND the truth. He literally only finds out in the most dramatic and unnecessary manner.

And the romance is so s*upid. The male lead and the supporting male leads all fell in love with her at first sight. The male lead is infatuated with her even before having met her. <<less

This is the story you want to read if you are tired with CULTIVATION, CULTIVATION, CULTIVATION! You know most of the novel there is good but sometimes you just wish the MC would be OP but no real cheat at the same time. However, the only way to do that is to cultivate.

What makes this story unique is she skips all of the cultivation thing (as far as I read).

Spoiler

Yes, she is transmigrated. The story starts with her being exiled (kind of... anyway she was forbid to go home for a certain period) by her family. She lived at some kinda countryside and cultivate there without anyone knowing because like other story everyone thought she was a tr*sh and wasn't able to cultivate.

Anyway, this story SKIPPED, yes, skipped about her cultivation and jumps straight to the end of period when she was supposed to be exiled and need to go home. At that time she had cultivated to the point of becoming OP so she decided to go home because you know, to get revenge for the original owner of the body.

Well, she already OP so killing them is an easy task but it won't be fun to just kill them so we gotta do it from inside. Attack when they least expected. She returned home and keep pretending as an idiot. The rest is up for you to read.

[collapse]

The first few chapters really in need of some good editing but after that was superb!

Another reason I like this is because of romance. It's really, really sweet and because both male lead and female lead is already an OP, they would not have to leave each other because they need to cultivate.

One more thing is their scheming. All of this novel are about is scheming. If you love scheming, scheming and more scheming, this is definitely for you.

Also, THERE IS NO FREAKING HAREM!!! *cry* no harem...
though at the beginning there is some people who fells for her but you just don't get that sweet feeling interaction between them cuz you know that our MC is for the Demon Wang. <<less

Considering I finished reading this book at least a year ago, and I still remember it was tr*sh, I honestly don't recommend it (I mean, you can still read it, really). Sure, the MC and ML's relationship is sweet and all but this book is just another one of those cliche stories with OP MC and MLs and s*upid (female) antagonists that fall in love with the ML at first sight and try to kill the MC and then, tables turned, they die instead.

Spoiler

So it starts out introducing the MC who has already transmigrated and integrated herself in this world for what, 4, 5 years (and has become really OP in that time period) who returns to her 'home' (which, personally, I think is s*upid, because obviously she can live pretty well off on her own--she literally doesn't have to care about a bunch of people who don't want her there) only to find her fiance (I remember it was some prince) decided to break off the engagement and then she got engaged to ML...

[collapse]

Literally at this point I'm already like, why does she even bother? (pls write a better plot)

Spoiler

SO, moving on, MC gets some admirers, ML gets some admirers, and a lot of cliche stuff happens ie. people trying to kill the MC to get the ML, the ex-fiance regretting breaking off the engagement, some business agreement with the prince of another country, said prince liking the MC, ML getting jealous... (okay, I admit I don't remember much of what happens in between)

Later on, MC finds out that she is 'blood related' to the ML and panics because it's in*est and she knows it's wrong but she still loves him and all that, and then she is relieved when ML when he says that he's actually adopted by her parents and that they have no blood relation but they decide to keep mum about it because his real identity is real sensitive and should not be revealed.

Fast forward through a lot of details that I don't remember, MC finds out that oh, she's not the only one who's transmigrated. Apparently, the person who singlehandedly caused her death in her previous life is also here (and the young master of some Peng Lai? island or something) is out to find her because he loves her and wants to be with her even after she refused him and stuff.

After all that drama, the MC is pregnant and the gu (a type of poison) in the ML is transferred to the fetus and the MC and ML try to get rid of it through a series of trials in some tribe. Seriously?

The ending is happy...I think.

[collapse]

Conclusion: 1/5 because of bad/overly-cliche/easily-predicted plot and s*upid/cliche characters.

On a side note, Volare does a good job of translating novels. Thank you. <<less

I'll say this once.

Murong Qi Qi is a Mary Sue.

Unless you enjoy heroines with unparalleled beauty, genius intellect, able to disguise herself into different characters, has businesses dealing with clothes, jewelry, make-up medicine (all top notch, naturally), has better medical skills then the local expert, better poison skills than all the experts, excels at qing gong, oh and as a bonus all worthy men regardless of ages and creed will fall in love at first sight, then go ahead, don't let me stop you.

And the stars are for the translator,... more>> good job translator, excellent translation. <<less

Hrm... not here to spoil it but a brief summary of what I have so far up to the 100th + chapter
1] It has many of vengeful ladies & they usually suffer tremendously under the author hands [fate]
2] It has dark chapters and some semi-18+ chapters
3] It has quite a number of deaths (surprisingly not by the MC hands]
4] ... more>>
Spoiler

Almost no fight scenes while the MC have poison and martial art, she hardly uses them.

[collapse]

The story is 4/5 with its unique twist and turns, it is however not recommended for people that prefer a linear romance as the story have some very 'dark' scenes.

*The interaction and relationship between MC and Feng Cang [male lead] is enjoyable with a 5/5~ <<less

Typical Mary Sue-esque type novel where the MC is the same old one dimensional, ruthless, overpowered unparalleled beauty who is ignorant of the affections of her select harem of attractive, powerful, s*upidly infatuated love interests not to mention the cookie cutter domineering, war god virg*n ML who falls hopelessly in love with her before they even exchange one word.

A major issue that readers should find with this novel is how the author portrays almost all of the female characters as jealous, spiteful, irredeemable b*tches who try to scheme and compete... more>> for the favour of one of the MC's harem. It just follows the standard mentality that is oh so common in these types of novels where women must always treat each other as competition in an already patriarchal society.

There is no substance or depth to the story or the characters or even their dialogue; just copy and paste from like 90% of all other transmigration novels and you get this recycled salad of blandness. It wouldn't even matter if the story kinda meandered off into a volcano if it was at least well written, but pacing is sh*t and the transitioning between scenes kinda throws you in a loop at times. Only recommended if you are truly a devotee to the whole transmigration, weakling-turned-OP goddess MC type shtick <<less

The story is the typical "reincarnation" plot. I have never thought that the author was trying to put a twist on the story because the novel is very straight forward with its cliche. You have a girl that gets bully and then she kills most of them, so it's pretty typical. I am giving it a 5 stars because I like the way the MC and the ML have little to no misunderstandings in their relationship. The little bumps in the road doesn't go on for miles, and it gets... more>> resolve pretty fast. The MC isn't being manipulated by anyone. She sees what they try to do, so she goes along with it. It's not because she's being manipulated, its because she wants to see how far they can go so she can bring them down even more. She's basically baiting the fish, and if anyone thinks differently, she literally said that she wasn't trying to alert her enemies. That's also what I like about the novel, the MC doesn't reckless go and bash people in the head instead she sits and plot. As for characters, you get your basic step-family situation and OP MC/ML. The novel never tried to be more than what it can be, and I respect that. <<less

Honestly, this is my favorite novel of its genre. My entire reading list is full of similar Wuxia novels but this is the one that makes me super excited everytime it updates. It follows the similar plot of an expert traveling into the body of a useless person who died tragically and taking over and just overturning everyone's opinions. While most protagonists follow that main ideal of taking two eyes for an eye but treating kindness with kindness, this is the only novel, in my opinion, that has a protagonist... more>> that really follows that ideal. (Forewarning, the manipulation is well done but slightly brutal)

The story is kind of confusing in the first few chapters but if you can make it through, it really pays off with great writing and amazing plot. It does have a lot of the common cliches but I think they're wonderfully written compared to other novels. People have complained about how there are a lot of confusing chinese terms but honestly you can just kind of skip over them they're not that important (it's mostly just a way to say "I" and formal titles for various imperials and family members). Basically I love this novel and highly suggest you read it. The translation keeps a lot of words in chinese but they honestly aren't that important. It starts slightly confusing but it does get much better. The translation is a little slow but well-worth, and re-reading it is never a drag. So please read, its great. <<less

I have a love-hate relationship with this one.

This has 200+ chapters only and I could read this in 2 days (maximum) yet I was able to gulp this down in three weeks or more. I got distracted with other CNovels which had more chapters compared to this.

I was hooked at first, then I felt the story dragged down in the middle so I forced myself to read those chapters, then I got hooked again, got frustrated to continue, then you know the cycle haha. The ending and the special chapters... more>> were what I liked the best.

I appreciate that ML and FL are a power couple. Hands up and hands down and hands up and waive - - no questions about their feelings for each other. No questions about their feelings for their significant others also.

But I felt that both of them were too perfect that I couldn't connect with them as a human being. I felt like watching movies or reading novels about gods and immortals.

Even their children were perfect. Duh!

It started fairly standard but fairly good, but recently it falls deeper and deeper in the whole "everyone tries to kill our main character" that basically serves as a justification for the blood bath that ensues, so that the main character doesn't appear as a crazy person thirsting for blood but as a good person forced to kill.

It is very common in Chinese literature, especially the web and light novels, but the story this time had a decent shot at being more than that, even showing that she had to... more>> actually work for what she has and her skills rather than the random gifts from nowhere.

Recent chapters:
Spoiler

In the latest chapters, after the whole "hey, let's stomp on the people that were bad to her before she took over the body" arc, you would think that the whole marriage would go better as she now achieved the condition, but it doesn't even try and shows us that not only were the parents of the husband not dead in the way everyone thought, the king obviously had a hand in it and is not sane at all and probably the one that poisoned the husband.

You might think that it could make for a good story to have good opponents, but so far all of the people that wanted to hurt our main character were not sane people, and it's always "someone wants to hurt her, so she will hurt or even kill them in return".

[collapse]

It's not like the novel doesn't have anything good going for it, but most of the good points of this novel are drowned by these story-telling methods. <<less

I have read many many novels, but never do a review for any of them. This is my very first review for a novel. For the people out there who are doubting whether to read it or not, I will give you a advice: READ IT, YOU WILL NOT BE DISSAPOINTED. This novel is very addicting. For a student, whose priority is study for the upcoming exam even ditch studying to read this novel, this show how good the novel is! As for the storyline, the description said pretty much... more>> how the MC is and what she is capable. I am still wondering who and how she was in her life in the 21th century. <<less
